Survived by two daughters, Mary Frazier and husband Shirley of St. Francisville and Charley Sue Palmertree and husband Howard of Sanger, Texas ; a son, Lanny Carroll Barbee of Houston; four sisters, Beatrice Harrison of Jayton, Texas ; Ruby Fitzgerald of Garland, Texas ; Ruth Rankin of Lafayette; and Lavonne Pargo of Sparks, Nev.; two brothers, Cecil Prince of Russellville, Ark., and Leon Prince of Rhode Island; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Barbee; parents, William and Lucy Prince; two infant children, Ima Ruth and Stephen Dale; two brothers, Clarence Prince and Rudell Prince; four sisters, Louise Hennington, Edith Rotramble, Wilma Stone and Merle Hoover; and a grandson, Scotty Frazier. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, granddaughters, great-grandsons and great-granddaughters. She was a member of Church of Christ, Jackson . BASS, DEMOND MCKINLEY "D"
A student at McKinley Middle Magnet and a resident of Baton Rouge, he died at 8:20 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, 2001, at his residence. He was 14 and a native of New Orleans. Visiting was at Rhodes United Fidelity Funeral Home from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday. Visiting at Tulane Baptist Church, 3601 Paris Ave., New Orleans, from 8 a.m. until religious services at 10 a.m. Monday, conducted by the Rev. Ross Johnson . interment in Roselawn Memorial Park, Baton Rouge. Survived by his father and mother, Kelvin and Lennie Bass Williams, Baton Rouge; paternal grandmother, Louise Williams, New Orleans; maternal grandmother, Donna Hobson, New Orleans; a sister, Whitney Arleat Bass, Baton Rouge; a stepbrother, Datron Sylvester, Raceland; three uncles, Jerome, Donald and Marcel Williams; two aunts, Gail and Pamela Williams; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Louis Butler; maternal great-grandfather, Alphonse Davis; and great-grandmother, Louise Bass Davis.

BLANCHARD, STEPHANIE DUPRÉ
A loving and devoted mother, she died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2001, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Mid City. She was born in Crowley on Sept. 28, 1915. She was 86 years old. She had lived in Baton Rouge for 30 years. She was an active and faithful member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. Visitation at Welsh Funeral Home, 6700 Florida Blvd., from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. Visitation at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Monday. Burial in Roselawn Memorial Park. She is survived by two daughters, Stephanie Anne McCullor and Mary Ellen Servello; three sons, Neal David Blanchard and wife Marie, Max P. Blanchard and wife Marie and Francis Eugene Blanchard; two sisters, Joan Rodrigue and Marie Louise Howes; two brothers, Dr. Rogers Dupré and Fred C. Dupré; and seven grandchildren, Byron Charles Blanchard, Stephanie Anne McCullor, Jennifer Inez McCullor, Megan Elizabeth McCullor, Paul Brandon Blanchard, Matthew Bryant Blanchard and Angelle Marie Blanchard. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Neal Davidson Blanchard; and a son, Charles Wortham Blanchard. The family wishes to acknowledge the kindness and compassion of her physician, Dr. G. Douglas Say.

CAZES, LEW P.
A retired electrician and member of IBEW Local 995, he died at 1:40 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001, following a lengthy illness. He was 72, a resident of Port Allen and Belle River and a native of Cinclare. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1954 and was a veteran of the Korean conflict. Visiting at Wilbert Funeral Home, Port Allen, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. to 9:40 a.m. Monday. Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Family Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Monday, celebrated by the Rev. Henry Vavasseur. interment in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Cemetery, Brusly. Survived by his wife of 50 years, Melba LeBlanc Cazes; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Jeanne and Mike Smith, and Janet Cazes, all of Belle River, Pamela and Mark Taylor , Houston, and Shari and Mark Giurintano, Port Allen; a son and daughter-in-law, Darrel Cazes and Shelia Morrow Cazes, Port Allen; nine grandchildren, Steve Blanchard Jr., Katelyn and Tyler Cazes, Latricia Braud, Crystal Lambert, Pamela Perkins, Chuck Smith, Ty and Amber Giurintano; two sisters, Joan Alford, and Elaine Hill and husband Harvey, all of Port Allen; a brother and two sisters-in-law, Jim and Brenda Cazes, Belle River, and Barbara Cazes, Baker. Preceded in death by his parents, Randolph Sr. and Myrtle Landry Cazes; and two brothers, Randolph "R.P." Jr. and Lane Cazes Sr. Pallbearers will be Mark Giurintano, Mike Smith, Mark Taylor , Steve Blanchard Jr., Jim Cazes and Benny Muguira. Honorary pallbearers are Tyler Cazes and Ty Giurintano. He was past president of West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's flotilla and the West Baton Rouge Parish Genealogy Association. He was a member of American Legion Post 167 and was a ham radio operator with the call letters KD5FNR. The family would like to thank Dr. Brian Gremillion, Dr. David Hanson, the staff of Our Lady of the Lake skilled nursing facility and the staff of Lakewood Quarters Rehabilitation Hospital Satellite Facility for their compassionate care the last six months. CHAISSON, ROBERT JOSEPH "BOB"
A resident of Tampa, Fla., he departed this life at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa. He was 49 and a native of Baton Rouge. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday. Religious services at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Monday, conducted by Don Driscoll. interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Survived by his mother, Mildred Chaisson; a son, Robert Luke; two brothers, Michael Chaisson, and Ron Chaisson and wife Janis; girlfriend; Debbie Fisher; and four nieces, Jami Mandel, Ainsley, Alexa and Lauren Chaisson. Preceded in death by his father, Luke; and a nephew Lucas. He was a car salesman in Baton Rouge and Tampa. He graduated from Lee High School in 1968 and completed one year of college at LSU. Pallbearers will be John Fred Gourrier, Paul Hidalgo, Bertell Cook, Sonny Hood, Adam Jablonski and David Wilson. A homemaker and resident of Belle Rose, she died at 6:15 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, 2001, in Thibodaux. She was 66 and a native of Pierre Part. Visiting at Ourso Funeral Home, Donaldsonville, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday. Visiting at the funeral home from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Monday. Mass of Christian Burial at Brusly St. Martin Chapel, Brusly St. Martin, at 10 a.m. Monday, conducted by the Rev. Vincent Dufresne. interment in the church cemetery. Survived by her husband, Harold Charlet of Belle Rose; a daughter and son-in-law, Paulette and Bosco Landry of White Castle; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Wayne and Sherry Blanchard Charlet of Pierre Part and Mark Charlet of Belle Rose; two sisters, Elsie Mabile and Hazel Blanchard, both of Pierre Part; two brothers, Edmond and Adolph Mabile, both of Pierre Part; three grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Preceded in death by her parents, Luke and Annie Guillot Mabile; two sisters, Genevieve Rushing and Louise Ann Mabile; and five brothers, Fred, Lezzin, Blaise, Gleason and Leroy Mabile. She was a member of the Ladies Alter Society.

CROWSON, LAWRENCE JOHN
A resident of Varnado, he died at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2001 in Varnado. He was 96, a native of Bayou Chene and a resident of Angie. Visiting at Welsh Funeral Home chapel, 6700 Florida Blvd., from 11:30 a.m. Monday until services at 1:30 p.m. interment in Grace Memorial Park, Plaquemine. Survived by his wife, Ada C. Crowson; his children, Loretta Davis and husband William of Varnado; Mrs. Paul (Marion) Bordlee of Metairie; Roberta Crain and husband Charles of Lincoln, Calif.; Dr. Clyde Crowson and wife Willadell of Paradise, Calif.; and Katherine Stehlik of Pawnee City, Neb.; 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by a son, James W. Crowson. Pallbearers will be Paul Bordlee, Steve Bordlee, Larry Crowson, William Davis, Ken Davis and Mike Davis. He was a long time resident of Baton Rouge and Plaquemine and retired from Ethyl Corp. He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

A payroll administrator and resident of Plaquemine, she died at 9:02 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2001, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, Baton Rouge. She was 60 and a native of Williamsburg, Ky. Visiting at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday. interment in Williamsburg. Survived by her mother, Lillian S. Jones; two daughters, Ann Day Gernon and Bonita Myra Day; a son, Denzil Harold Miracle; a sister, Sue Jones King; two brothers, Barney Jones and Bill Jones; and eight grandchildren. Preceded in death by her father, Doral Preston Jones.

DEES, MILDRED LOUISE SYGALAS
A resident of Baton Rouge, she died at 4:35 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2001, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. She was born June 2, 1918, in Baton Rouge. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Visiting at Grace Baptist Church, 630 Richland Ave., from noon until religious services at 1 p.m. Monday, conducted by her nephew, the Rev. Dion L. Ainsworth, and Rev. Milford Walters. Burial in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen D. and J. Ralph Dupuy and Dianne D. and Norman R. Linder, all of Baton Rouge; six sisters, Geraldine Nettles, Dorothy Patton and husband Roy, Katie Pierce and Elaine Ricks, all of Baton Rouge, Peggy Denbo and husband Robert of Hot Springs, Ark., and Virginia Baronne and husband Frank of Baton Rouge; a brother, Frank J. Sygalas and wife Ann of Winnfield; two grandchildren, Julia L. Stafford and husband Andrew of Missouri City, Texas , and Alan B. Linder and wife Candice of Clayton, N.C.; a great grandson, David Alan Linder; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Preceded in death by her parents, Frank J. and Katie Laird Sygalas; and her husband, Fred Dees. Pallbearers will be Byron Clay Ainsworth, John Boling, Jim Sanders, Bob Reynolds, Tommy LeBeau, Rufus Price and Lamar Brumfield. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for 48 years. She was a member of the National Association of Baptist Senior Adults, AARP Chapter 1691, YAWS Luncheon Club, DMA of Ingleside Methodist Church, Sarah Morgan Dawson Chapter of United Daughters of the Confederacy and Real Granddaughters of the Confederacy. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Grace Baptist Church, 630 Richland Ave., Baton Rouge, LA 70806, or Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge, 550 Lobdell Ave., Baton Rouge, LA 70806.

DODSON, MICKEY LYNN
The greatest father in the world died this Saturday. Mickey Lynn Dodson passed at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, 2001, after fighting a brief battle with brain cancer. Visiting will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and after 10 a.m. Monday. Religious services in the funeral home chapel at 1 p.m. Monday, conducted by Brother Joe Hanna. interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. He was a wonderful father, husband, son and friend. He never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew him. Mickey was 48 years old and a native of Central. Mickey has a loving family; his wife of 26 years, Janet Hollomon Dodson; two daughters, Ambera Dodson and Christy Dodson; a son, Brandon Dodson; parents, A.P. Dodson and Clara Dodson; two sisters, Scarlet Dodson Faulk and Darlene Dodson Hunt; two sisters-in-law, Pam Hollomon Bansemer and Terri Parnell, four brothers-in-law, Craig Hunt, Gilbert Faulk, Eddie Bansemer and Steve Parnell; two nieces, Amy Hunt and Krystal Hollomon; and three nephews, Thomas Hollomon, Stephen Hunt and Zachary Cornelius. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leonard Lee Dodson, Eudorah Dodson, Bill Ellerbee and Nora Finley. Pallbearers will be Steve Parnell, A.J. Harris, Gene Wilkerson, Gene Campbell, James Stevens, Bob Leblanc, Gary Nolen and Micheal Ortego. Honorary pallbearers are Gilbert Faulk, Craig Hunt, Bobby Hodges, Freddie Gardner, Kevin McCleary, Ben Guidry, George Patterson, Charles Rush, Rusty Jackson , Thomas Hollomon, Eddie Bansemer, Randy Prejean, Paul Thoms, James Hornsby and David Barrow. Mickey loved to fish, to go to movies and to watch his three children play sports, but he loved his family most of all. Daddy, we will always love you and cherish your silly memories. We love you Big Daddy!

FREE, DEREK ALLEN
A business owner and a resident and native of Colorado Springs, Colo., he died Monday, Nov. 12, 2001. He was 33 and a U.S. Navy veteran. Arrangements are pending with Fellowship Bible Church. Survived by his father, Charles Harold "Chuck" Free; a daughter, Ashley Lynn Free; a son, Kevin Edgar Free; and four sisters, Donna Free, Colorado Springs, Karley-Brewer-Ditgen, Kiley Free and Korey Free. He will be sorely missed by uncles and aunts, Kenneth and Randi Free, Colorado Springs, and Fred and Billie "B.J." Militello, Baton Rouge; and grandmother, Mary Jane Free, Baker. Preceded in death by his mother, Donna Carol Beaver Free.

GROSS, ALMA L. "MADEAR"
A retired cafeteria technician, she died at 9 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001, at Lane Memorial Hospital, Zachary. She was 73, a resident of Slaughter and native of Zachary. Visiting at Richardson Funeral Home, Clinton, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday. Religious services at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Plank Road, five miles north of Zachary Crossroad in East Feliciana Parish, at 1 p.m. Tuesday, conducted by Brother Sidney Day. interment in Greater Philadelphia Baptist Church, Cook Road. Survived by four daughters, Katie, Peggy, Claudia and Donna; three sons, Jessie, Nimrod and K.C.; four brothers, Lawrence, Percy, Johnny and J.B.; 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Alice Jackson ; her twin sister, Althea Bennett; and a brother, Howard Jackson Jr. Madear was one of Jehovah's Witnesses. A retired employee of DSM Copolymer plant, with 24 years of service, and a resident of Zachary, he died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2001, at Lane Memorial Hospital, Zachary. He was 81 and a native of Ethel. Visiting at Miller & Daughter Mortuary chapel, Zachary, from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Visiting at New Pilgrim Baptist Church, Zachary, from 6 p.m. until religious services at 7 p.m. Sunday, conducted by the Rev. Thomas Lewis Jr. Dismissal at True Light Baptist Church, Ethel, at 10 a.m. Monday. interment in church cemetery. Survived by his children, six daughters, two sons and their spouses, Edna and Lionel Sims, Yvonne and David Dotson, Ann and Ronald Brooks, Faye and Roosevelt Johnson , Beverly and David Dixon, Doris Hayes-Lowe, Allen and Selena Hayes, and Richard Jr. and Julie Hayes; a daughter-in-law, Albertha Hayes; a brother and three sisters-in-law, Wash and Georgiana Robinson, Gladys Baker and Fannie Baker; two grandchildren whom he reared, David Oneal Borskey and Kendra Booker; a grandson-in-law, Cornell Booker; a foster son, Darryl Wright and wife Rosalind; 28 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. A retired engineer for Exxon Co. USA, he died at 10:27 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2001, at his home in Port Allen. He was 78 and native of Des Allemands. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the European and Pacific theaters. Visiting at Wilbert Funeral Home, Port Allen, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. Visiting at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. to 12:40 p.m. Monday. Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Family Catholic Church at 1 p.m. Monday, concelebrated by the Rev. Henry Vavasseur, the Rev.
