A resident of Baker, he died at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001, at Lane Memorial Hospital, Zachary. He was 55 and a native of Mor-ganza. He was office manager of Baton Rouge Machine Works for 20 years and served in the U.S. Army in Germany. Visiting at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday. Religious services at the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. Saturday, conducted by Deacon Bruno Rizzo. interment in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Survived by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Beatrice Delk, Morganza, and Joan Marie Patin and Huey P. Patin Sr., Baker; three brothers, Ervin Anthony Landry, Morganza, Lloyd Joseph Landry, Oscar, and Floyd Joseph Landry, Baton Rouge; numerous nieces and nephews; and a great-nephew, John Pierce "JJ" Patin. He also leaves behind his many friends and co-workers at Baton Rouge Machine Works. Preceded in death by his parents, Wallace Landry Sr. and Cecilia Gueho Lan-dry; two sisters, Sadie Mae Landry and Louella Marie Landry; and three brothers, Wallace Jr., Curly David and John Allen Landry. He enjoyed cooking and gardening and will be sadly missed by all whose lives he touched.

MANNING, FRANKLIN KEITH
A retired engineer and a resi-dent of Baton Rouge, he died at 2:20 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, in Baton Rouge. He was 84 and a native of Louisville, Ky. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served in the Topografic Division in the Pacific Theater. Visiting at St. Jean Vianney Catholic Church, 16166 S. Harrell's Ferry Road, from noon Saturday until religious services at 1 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Alec Sheldon. Survived by his wife, Geraldine Hagan; two daughters, Cynthia Williamson and Geraldine Udell; two sons, Daryl Manning and Stephen Man-ning; and eight grandchildren. He was a member of St. Jean Vianney Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge, 550 Lobdell Ave., Baton Rouge, LA 70806. Rabenhorst Funeral Home East in charge of arrangements.

MASON, PH.D. R. BURGESS
A resident of Denham Springs and a native of Rockport, Ky., he Passed away at his home on Tues-day, July 31, 2001, about 9 p.m. He was 92. He was a research chemist who retired from Exxon Co. USA after more than 30 years of serv-ice. Visiting was at Welsh Funeral Home, 6700 Florida Blvd., from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday. Visiting at the funeral home from 8:30 a.m. until religious services at 10 a.m. Friday, conducted by Dr. Burn Page. interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Isabel Craig Mason; and his daughter, Anne M. White , both of Denham Springs; a brother, Walter Bruce Mason, Rockport; two nephews, Hugh Ma-son, Utica, Ind., and James Mason, Louisville, Ky.; and a niece, Suzan-ne M. Alexander, Brownsville, Ky. He was preceded in death by his parents, William J. and Mary R. Mason; and a daughter, Mary Etta Mason. Pallbearers will be Rich-ard Lea, Michael Lea, Steven Lea, Bryan Bueche, William Stracener and Robert Starns. He was a graduate of the University of Ken-tucky, where he received his bachelor of science and master of science degrees, and of the Uni-versity of Pennsylvania , where he received his doctorate. He was a member of First Baptist Church and the former Eastland Bible Class. The family would like to ex-press special and heartfelt thanks to Michael Lea, Richard and Ann Lea, Sylvia Lea, Steven Lea, Bryan and Sonia Bueche, Brandi Brad-well, Nancy Butler, Kelli Rowland, Dr. Robert Brown, Dr. Hieu Vuong, Dr. Thomas Tate, the staff of Stanocola Medical Center, Dr. Thomas Campanella, Stanocola Home Health and the staff of Trin-ity Hospice.

MCDANIEL, MAUDE HAZEL MAYES
A resident of Duluth, Ga., she died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, at her daughter's residence. She was 84 and a native of Grayson. Visiting at Hollabaugh-Spindle Funeral Home, 1553 Wooddale Blvd., from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and in the chapel from 8:30 a.m. until relig-ious services at 11 a.m. Saturday. Burial in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by a daughter, Susan McGrew, Duluth; a sister, Jenny Wilks, Baton Rouge; a brother, Arley Mayes, Baton Rouge; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, B.L. McDaniel; a daughter, Marlene Billings; three brothers, L.A. Mayes Jr., John Mayes and Fred Mayes; and four sisters, Cora Fer-guson, Evangeline Baggett, Mary Helen Mayes and Audrey Mayes.

MORGAN, MONICA L. JOHNSON
A hairdresser and a resident of Baton Rouge, she passed from her earthly home to her eternal home on Wednesday, July 25, 2001. She was 36. Visiting at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, 851 N. 48th St., from 10 a.m. Saturday until relig-ious services at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Jeffery Phillips. In-terment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Monica is survived by her mother, Barbara D. Johnson of Ba-ton Rouge; her father, Dr. Wilfred A. Johnson of Silver Spring, Md.; two daughters, Terrilynn Renee Morgan and Melanie Monique Mo-rgan; a grandson, Dalin Dévean Thomas; an adopted sister, Ron-isha Renee Johnson ; a brother, Andre Johnson ; four uncles, Himel Johnson of Baton Rouge, Charles L. Johnson Jr. of Shreveport, Carl Johnson of Lansing, Mich., and Elwin Johnson of Hyattsville, Md.; five aunts, Joyce King of Boston, Marian J. Banks of Baton Rouge, Shirley Johnson of New Roads, Carolyn Smith of Ventress, and Cornelius Johnson of New Or-leans; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandpar-ents, Charles Johnson Sr. and Maebelle A. Williams, who were from Baton Rouge; her paternal grandparents, Joseph and Emma Johnson , who were from New Roads; an aunt, Marian Johnson , who was from New Roads; and a great-grandmother, Corinne Miles, who was from Head of Island. NASSAR, SR. NAHEEM GEORGE
A retired drivers' license exam-iner, he went to his eternal home on Aug. 1, 2001, at 11:20 p.m. at Kenner Regional Medical Center. He was born on May 17, 1923, in Lutcher, and was a lifelong resi-dent of Convent. Visiting at Alexan-der Funeral Home, Lutcher, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Satur-day at 11 a.m. at St. Michael Church in Convent. Entombment in St. Michael Mausoleum. Sur-vived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Georgette and Joseph Matassa, Patricia and James A. Melancon Jr. and Bonita and Gary Lousteau; two sons and daughters-in-law, George Jr. and Greta Nas-sar and Vernon and JoAnn Nassar; two sisters, Freida Broussard and Antoinette Nassar; two brothers, Michael R. Nassar Sr and Joseph S. Nassar Sr.; 17 grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. Pre-ceded in death by his wife, Mar-jorie Mabile Nassar; a son Namatala Nassar; parents, Namatala and Rosalie Nassar; a sister, Marie Grace; a brother, Nassar Nassar, and a grandson, Garret Paul Matassa. PARKER, JR. NAPOLEON B.
A city-parish bus driver, he died Tuesday, July 31, 2001, at his resi-dence in Baton Rouge. He was 54 and a native of Chicago. Visiting at Winnfield Funeral Home from 10 a.m. Saturday until religious serv-ices at 12:30 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Gregory White . Inter-ment in Winnfield Memorial Park. Survived by his wife, Cornelia Houston Parker; two daughters and a son-in-law, Falesha and Wil-lie Augustus and Pamela D. Parker; a son, Napoleon B. Parker III; a sister, Joycelyn Rogers; a grandchild, Kadijha Parker; two aunts, an uncle and numerous cousins, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by a son, Baby Parker; and mother, Eleanor Jenkins.

PIZZOLATO, ANTHONY S. "TONY"
Owner of Tony's Seafood and Louisiana Fish Fry products, he died Thursday afternoon, Aug. 2, 2001. He was 78 and a resident of Baton Rouge. Arrangements are pending with Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd.

POLITZ, DORIS ARMSTRONG
A native and resident of Baton Rouge, she Passed away at 6 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001, at her residence surrounded by her lov-ing family and friends. She was 74. Visiting was at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, with reci-tation of the rosary at 6 p.m. Visit-ing at the funeral home from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church at 1 p.m. Friday, celebrated by the Rev. Tom Duhe. interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Linda Davis and Darlene Carnegie, both of Baton Rouge, and Theresa and Phillip Macaluso, Independence; five grandchildren, Dwayne Davis, Tulsa, Okla., Amber Davis and Eric Carnegie, both of Baton Rouge, and Heather and Hope Macaluso, both of Independence; three sisters, Eva Schram, Margie Mitchell and Gilberta Galtier, all of Baton Rouge; a sister-in-law, Frances Politz, Baton Rouge; a brother-in-law, John Politz, Bay St. Louis, Miss.; and three dear friends, Evelyn Aucoin, Beverly Landry and Denis Delery. Pre-ceded in death by her husband, Guy Politz; father, Gilbert Arm-strong; mother, Eva Bernard Armstrong; two sisters, Cecile Bernard and Clara Mae McCor-mick; and a son-in-law, Jimmy Carnegie. An oil field motorman and a resident of Foxworth, Miss., he died Tuesday, July 31, 2001, at Marion General Hospital. He was 77 and a native of Marion County, Miss. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Visitation at Pine Grove Pentecos-tal Church, Darbun, Miss., from 5 p.m. Thursday until funeral serv-ices at 2 p.m. Friday, with Pastor Kenneth Rocko officiating, as-sisted by Charles Phillips and Timothy Madden. interment in Pine Grove Cemetery. Survived by his wife, Annie Merle Price, Fox-worth; two daughters, Sheila Boyd, Zachary, and Tamy Dunaway, Kokomo, Miss.; a son, Everett Price, Brookhaven, Miss.; a sister, Virginia Carney, Foxworth; a brother, Harvey Price, Columbia, Miss.; four grandchildren, Jason Price, Justin Price, Jamie Price and Cotton Dunaway; and nieces and nephews. He was a member of Pine Grove Pentecostal Church.

RODNEY, JACKIE SUE
A retired educator with the As-cension Parish School Board with 28 years of service and a resident of Darrow, she died at 1:15 p.m. Monday, July 30, 2001, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Mid City. She was 57 and a native of Belle Helene. Visiting at Chris-tian Assembly Full Gospel Church, La. 941, Gonzales, from 3 p.m. un-til religious services at 8 p.m. Fr-iday, conducted by the Rev. Rich-ard Rayborn Sr. Dismissal at 10 a.m. Saturday. interment in church cemetery. Survived by her husband, Calvin Rodney Sr.; six daughters, Bernita Cardwell, Erica Rodney, Tammy Rodney, Latonya Rodney, Alicia Rodney and Lakesha Rodney; four sisters, five brothers, four grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pre-ceded in death by her mother, Carrie Ford; her father, the Rev. James LeBlanc Sr.; a sister, Mary Lee Peterson; a brother, Paul Le-Blanc; and godmother, Samalian Scott. RYAN, RITA MCLIN "JANET"
A loving daughter, mother and grandmother, she died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, at her home in Wat-son. She was 65 and a native of Denham Springs. Visiting at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday. Services at the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. Sat-urday, conducted by the Rev. Howard Turner. interment in Ev-ergreen Memorial Park. Survived by her mother, Wilma Ott Fugler, Watson; three daughters and sons-in-law, Rita Ryan and Oscar Hart-field Jr., Denham Springs, Sharon Ryan Comeaux, Baton Rouge, and Vernette Ryan and Philip Folse, Vacherie; a son and daughter-in-alw, Jim and Marie Ryan, Watson; a son-in-law, Randy Comeaux, Watson; seven grandchildren, Jes-sica and Cody Comeaux, Kristina, Ashley and Richard Ryan and Brittany and Erin Folse; two aunts, Ouida Milton and Faye Rifkind; special cousins, Jerry Milton and Pamela Bailey and daughters; and numerous cousins and friends. Preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Ryan Sr.; father, Vernon McLin; and an aunt, Lila Adams. She was a member of Live Oak Baptist Church. SHELMIRE, JIMMIE
A loving husband and father, he departed this life on Monday, July 30, 2001, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was 61 and a retired employee of Crown Vantage, St. Francisville. Visiting at Winnfield Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Fri-day. Religious services at Weller Avenue Baptist Church, 3535 Mo-hican St., the Rev. Joel Porter, pas-tor, at 10 a.m. Saturday, with min-ister Basil Waldon officiating. In-terment in Roselawn Memorial Park. Jimmie was born Dec. 3, 1939, to Simon and Pearline Sholes Shelmire in Wilson, and he was baptized by Pastor Milton Clark, House of God Ministries. He was united in matrimony to Ruby Wil-liams on Nov. 21, 1964. To this un-ion two daughters were born. He will be remembered forever and loved by those who cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife, Ruby Shelmire; two daugh-ters, Tamarana A. Shelmire-Hol-land and Candace S. Jordan, both of Baton Rouge; two sons-in-law, Jefferson Jordan Jr. and Law-rence Holland, both of Baton Rouge; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Dorothy and Sid-ney Franklin, Rosie M. Shelmire, Elnora M. and Leroy Matthews and Pearl and William Briley, all of Baton Rouge; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Adam and Gerald-ine Shelmire, New Orleans, Amos and Fannie Shelmire, Las Vegas, devoted brother James H. and Thelma Shelmire, Baton Rouge, and Johnny and Hattie Shelmire, Chicago; three grandchildren, Kirsten D. Shelmire and Keira S. and Jeffery T. Jordan, all of Baton Rouge; a great-nephew whom he helped rear, Corey T. Williams, Gonzales; two godchildren, Ken-nard M. A special thank you to Dr. Fred-eric Billings, his nurse, Candace, and fellow doctors and staff of Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, and the nursing staff of the hema-tology-oncology outpatient unit at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, especially nurse Pat Payne.
