HERMAN WAGNER, SR.

Mr. Herman Wagner Sr., 81, a resident and native of four Corners, died following a long illness at 5:41 .m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002, at Franklin Foundation Hospital.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Frances Colbert Wagner of Four Corners; six sons, Herman Wagner Jr. and Robert Wagner of Jeanerette, Leroy Wagner of Jayess, Miss., Darrell Wagner of Oaklawn, Calif., Henry Wagner of Louisville, Kentucky, and Dedrick Wagner of Four Corners; three daughters, Catherine Wagner Williams of San Antonio, Texas , and Theresa and Rose Wagner of Four Corners; one brother, James Wagner of Los Angeles, Calif.; one sister, Bernice Wagner Coleman of Jeanerette; 27 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, one sister and one brother.

Visitation from 8 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m., Saturday, at Saint Peter Apostle Catholic Church in Four Corners. There will be a
Rosary service at 10 a.m. interment will following the service by Father Abraham Kunnakkattu at Special Providence Cemetery in Baldwin.

Otis Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

CHARLES WALKER

Charles "C.W." Walker, 57, a resident and native of Morgan City, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004, at 5:47 a.m., at Veterans Hospital in New Orleans.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Williams Walker of Morgan City; two sons, Charles (Mona) Walker Jr. of Lafayette and Jason Paul (Akaisha) Walker of Houston, Texas ; one daughter, Charlissa Ann (Raylonda) Washington of Lafayette; two brothers, Junius "Billy" Walker of Patterson and Warren MacArthur Walker of Chicago, Illinois; three sisters, Bertha Mann and Sally Ledet, both of Morgan City, and Patricia Stewart of Baton Rouge; and four grandchildren.

Visitations will be observed Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., at the New Zora Baptist Church in Morgan City.

Funeral rites will be Saturday, at 10 a.m., at that church. The Rev. Ezekiel Simmons will officiate. interment will follow in the Morgan City Cemetery.

The Jones Funeral Home, Inc. of Morgan City is in charge of arrangements.

J.C. WHITE

Mr. J.C. White , 69, a resident and native of Charenton, died suddenly Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, as the result of an automobile accident.

He is survived by his father, James White of Charenton; two brothers, Chris White of New Iberia and Roosevelt White of Port Arthur, Texas ; and three sisters, Elmer White Carter and Anna White Collins, both of Charenton and Pearlie White Fuseliar of Port Arthur.

Mr. White was preceded in death by his mother, three brothers and one sister.

Visitations will be observed Sunday, Oct. 5, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Saint John Baptist Church in Charenton.

Burial rites will be read Sunday, at 8 p.m., at that church. The Rev. Ivory Williams Sr. will officiate.

interment will be Monday, Oct. 6, at 10 a.m., in the Saint John Cemetery.

The Otis Mortuary of Franklin is in charge of preparations.

NATHAN WILLIAMS

Nathan Williams, 60, a resident of Franklin and native of Lafayette, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, at 8:43 a.m., at Teche Regional Medical Center, following a short illness.

He is survived by his wife, Eulie W. Williams of Franklin; two sons, Christopher Williams of Charenton and William Davis Jr. of Franklin; three daughters, Karen Williams of Charenton, Patricia Davis and Cheryl Davis, both of Franklin; two sisters, Idell Stokes of Franklin and Lillie L. Lee of New Orleans; one godchild; and eight grandchildren.

Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

He had served in the United States Army.

Visitations will be observed Saturday, Jan. 31, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at St. Joseph Baptist Church.

Funeral rites will be Saturday, at 11 a.m., at that church. interment will follow in the St. Joseph Baptist Cemetery.

The Jones Funeral Home, Inc. of Franklin is in charge of arrangements.

CHARLES deVILLENEUVE ALLAIN, JR.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 10, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Mother of Church Roman Catholic Church in Lafayette for Mr. Charles deVilleneuve Allain, Jr., 64, who died peacefully at his home on Monday, February 7, 2011, with family prayerfully at his bedside.

interment will follow in Fountain Memorial Cemetery in Lafayette.

The Reverend Father Harold Trahan, Pastor of St. Mary Mother of the Church Roman Catholic Church in Lafayette, will be the main Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and Rev. Michael Russo will serve as Homilist. Musical selections will be performed by soloist Pat Melancon accompanied by organist Deborah Duhon and trumpeter Will Green.

A native of Franklin, Mr. Allain lived in Lafayette for the past thirty years. He finished high school at Hanson Memorial in Franklin and received a Bachelor of Science degree from LSU in 1969. Mr. Allain earned an Associate’s Degree in Medical Record Administration in 1970 while serving as an officer in the U.S. Public Health Service, and a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration from George Washington University in Washington , D.C. in 1974. He was a member of St. Mary Mother of the Church Roman Catholic Church in Lafayette, Catholic Charismatic Renewal and Immaculata Prayer Group.

Mr. Allain is survived by his wife Loraine Laws Allain and two children, Eleanor Catherine Allain and Charles deVilleneuve Allain, III, his wife, Jennifer Marmande Allain and their first child due in July, all of Lafayette. Also surviving him are his siblings Anne Allain Chadwick and her husband, Win and Reid Proctor Allain, all of New Orleans, Dr. Brent Wheeler Allain and wife, Judith of Franklin and Alexander deVilleneuve Allain, II and his wife, Denise of Mobile, Alabama.

Preceding him in death were his parents Charles and Henrietta Allain; and a brother, Dr. Mark Pentecost Allain.

Visitation will be observed on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette and will resume at the funeral home on Thursday, February 10, 2011 at 8:00 a.m. until time of service.

A rosary led by members of the Immaculata Prayer Group will be held on Wednesday evening, February 9, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Pallbearers are Charles deVilleneuve Allain, III, Alexander deVilleneuve Allain, Roland Bennet Laws, Jr., Daniel Luke, Mark A. Chauvin and Richard Fitzgerald.

Honorary Bearers are Reid Proctor Allain, Brent Wheeler Allain, Sr., M.D. and Winslow Chadwick.

The family would like to thank Helen Armstead, Cynthia Fontenot and Hospice of Acadiana, especially Jenny Beach and Rose Lilly, for their love and care during Mr. Allain’s illness.

AMELIA BAKER

Amelia "Peaches" Baker, 39, a resident of Verdunville and native of Lafayette (Katy, La.), died Saturday, July 5, 2008, at 3:19 a.m., at Leonard J. Chabert Medical Center following a long illness.

She is survived by her spouse, Woodrow Baker of Verdunville; mother, Min. Geraldine Price Turner of New Iberia; stepfather, Cleveland (Maggie Jean) Brown Sr. of Thibodaux; two daughters, Wa’Andenia E. and Wymia L. Baker, both of Verdunville; one son, Wiluzziah E. Baker of Verdunville; four brothers, Pastor Ronnie Lee (Orelia) Brown of McDonough, Georgia, Charles Ray Brown Jr. of New Iberia, Edward Turner of Houston, Texas and Cleveland Brown Jr. of Chicago, Illinois; and three sisters, Mrs. Calvin (Mary Ann Brown) Rhine of Charenton, Shera Lynn Turner of New Iberia and Ruby Turner of Four Corners.

Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by her father, one sister, one brother and her paternal and maternal grandparents.

She was employed by Arms of an Angel Health Care Svc., Premier Health Care and Donelson T. Caffery Jr. and Mrs. Lee Trowbridge as child care provider.

Visitation was observed Tuesday, July 15, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Little Zion Baptist Church in Verdunville.

Funeral rites were held Tuesday, at noon, at that church, with Pastor Archbishop Bilber Sr. officiating.

The Jones Funeral Home of Morgan City was in charge of arrangements.

SARAH BLAKESLEY

Mrs. Sarah "Sodie" Dumesnil Blakesley, 73, a native of Glencoe and a lifelong resident of Franklin, died Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at the Franklin Health Care Center.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Malcolm P. Blakesley of Franklin; two sons, Pat Blakesley and his wife, Tina, both of New Iberia, and Hilton Blakesley and his wife, Laurie, both of Franklin; three sisters, Barbara D. Delahoussaye of Crowley, Jean D. Jones of Lafayette and Myra D. Mouton of Scott; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Hilton Dumesnil I; her mother, Beulah Poche Dumesnil; one son, Michael Blakesley; and her brother, Hilton Dumesnil II.

The family requests that visitation be observed Thursday, May 8, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a rosary being prayed at 7 p.m., at Ibert’s Mortuary in Franklin.

Visitation will resume Friday, May 9, at 9 a.m., at Ibert’s until time of services.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, at 11 a.m., at the Church of the Assumption, with Father Lloyd Benoit officiating the services. Burial will follow in the Franklin Cemetery.

Mrs. Blakesley spent 10 years in the public school system and 30 years of dedicated service at St. John Elementary. She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert’s Mortuary, Inc. of Franklin.
