EDNA GUNNER-BURCH

Edna Gunner-Burch, 84, a native of Abbeville and resident of Houma, died Saturday, November 6, 2010 at her residence at 3:20 p.m.

Visitation will be held Saturday, November 13 at Church of Christ, on S. Hollywood Rd. in Houma, from 9 a.m. until funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in the Golden Queen Cemetery in Centerville.

Edna leaves to cherish her memories, a son, Jeff Gunner of Port Arthur, Texas ; two daughters, Emma B. Gunner and Linda G. Craft, both of Houma; two sisters, Mary W. Butler of Verdunville and Joann W. Benjamin of New Orleans; eight grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

Jones Funeral Home of Morgan City is in charge of arrangements.

GARY HENSON

Nov. 28, 1946 ~ Oct. 15, 2010

Gary Henson, 63, a native of Capay, California, a former resident of Franklin and a current resident of New Iberia, died Friday, Oct. 15, 2010, at 8:30 a.m., at the Lafayette General Medical Center.

Gary is survived by his wife of 37 years, Brenda Boozer Henson of New Iberia; his son, Robert Henson and his wife, Lori, of New Iberia; two brothers, Maurice “Moss” Henson and Darrell Henson, both of Capay; one sister, Alice Cromer of Russell, Iowa; and one expected granddaughter, Rebekah Laurel Henson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.P. Henson and Elise Bair Henson.

The family requested that visitation be observed Monday, Oct. 18, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Church of the Assumption, with a rosary being prayed at 12 noon.

A Mass of Christian burial was held Monday, Oct. 18, at 1 p.m., at the Church of the Assumption, with Father Lloyd Benoit officiating. Burial followed in the Franklin Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert’s Mortuary, Inc. of Franklin.

RICHARD JAMES SR.

Richard James Sr., 67, a resident of Bayou Vista and a native of Texarkana, Arkansas, died Friday, September 17, 2010 at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center at 10:08 p.m.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 23 at Jones Funeral Home in Morgan City, from 2 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Visitation will resume Friday, September 24, from 9 a.m. until funeral at 11 a.m. Burial will follow the Christian Cemetery on Westbank Expressway in Gretna.

Richard leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Tammy Moore James of Bayou Vista; his mother, Nettie Newton of Franklin; his mother-in-law, Grace M. Heard of Marrero; four sons, Richard James, Reginald James, Darrell James and Kyle James, all of Bayou Vista; four daughters, Angelica James, Amber James, De’Angela James and Grace James, all of Bayou Vista; one grandson, Aaron Barth Verdun Jr. of Bayou Vista; two brothers, Johnny Cooper of Many, La. and Glendale Newton of Zwolle; three sisters, Louise Rogers of Shreveport, Maryann James of Houston, TX and Lisa Gibson of Atlanta, GA; a host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, relatives and friends; devoted friends, Sonny Freeman and Robert Hogatt of Morgan City; and a devoted brother-in-law, Eric Ranking Sr. of Marrero.

Richard was preceded in death by his father, father-in-law, stepfather-in-law and a brother-in-law.

Jones Funeral Home of Morgan City is in charge of arrangements.

DAVID LEONARD

Dec. 5, 1959 ~ Sept. 18, 2010

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 21, 2010, at 3 p.m., at Ibert’s Mortuary for David Leonard, 50, a native and resident of Franklin, who Passed away Saturday, September 18, 2010, at 6:15 p.m., at Franklin Foundation Hospital.

Burial will follow in the Perpetual Park Cemetery. The Rev. Brad Bullock will officiate the services.

Davis is survived by his mother, Bernadette Charpentier Paul of Franklin; two brothers, Michael Leonard of Franklin and Dallas Paul Leonard Jr. of Franklin; three sisters, Patricia Louviere and her husband, Steven, of Franklin, Dolores Derouen and her husband, L.J., of Jeanerette and Deborah Breaux and her husband, Robert, of Franklin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dallas Paul Leonard Sr.; his stepfather, Eolours Paul; and by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

A gather of family and friends will be held Tuesday, Sept. 21, at Ibert’s Mortuary, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert’s Mortuary, Inc. of Franklin.

LOIS ACHEE LINER

Dec. 6, 1930 ~ Sept. 17, 2010

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, September 21, 2010, at 2 p.m., at the Church of the Assumption for Mrs. Lois Achee Liner, a native and resident of Franklin, who Passed away Friday, September 17, 2010, at 5:15 p.m., at the Franklin Health Care Center. She was 79.

Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Baldwin. Father Lloyd Benoit will officiate the services.

Mrs. Lois is survived by her husband of 60 years, Andrew A. Liner of Franklin; three children, Andrea Liner Strubb of Franklin, Patrick Liner of San Francisco, CA and David Jon Liner of Gonzales; five grandchildren, Jason Liner and his wife, Sarah, of Baldwin; Misty Strubb Stovall and her husband, Dwight, of Franklin; Lance Strubb and his wife, Natalie, of Franklin; Shaun Liner of Birmingham, AL; and Kevin Liner of Phoenix, AZ; five great grandchildren, Matthew Strubb and Jonathan Stovall, both of Franklin; Micah Liner of Baldwin; and Addison Marie Liner and Lacey Liner, both of Birmingham, AL; two nieces; and three nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin Emile Achee and Sarah Louise Robicheaux Achee; and one sister, Shirley Achee St. Martin.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday, September 21 at the Church of the Assumption, from 10 a.m. until Mass time, with the rosary being prayed at 1 p.m.

ALBERTA MADISON

Alberta Madison, 53, a native and resident of Franklin, died Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at Iberia Medical Center, at 6:10 a.m.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 1 at Jones Funeral Home Chapel in Franklin, from 11 a.m. until funeral service at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in the Franklin Cemetery.

Alberta leaves to cherish her memories her mother, Viola M. Rudolph of Baldwin; her husband, Douglas Madison Sr. of Franklin; a son, Dimpsy Tinsley of Franklin; three stepsons, David Wayne Madison, Douglas Madison Jr. and John Madison, all of Franklin; one daughter, Tracey Tinsley of Franklin; five stepdaughters, Constance Hawkins, Shirley Hamilton, Debra Brown, Rachel Randle and Avis Madison, all of Franklin; four brothers, Elbert (Glenda) Rudolph of Rochester, New York, Jacob Rudolph and Randy Rudolph, both of Baldwin, and Giles Rudolph of El Paso, Texas ; eight sisters, Lovenia Jenkins, Mrs. Ivory (Mercede) Watson, Mrs. Kern (Betty Joe) Leonard and Mrs. Mannie (Burnadee) Colar, all of Baldwin, Mrs. John (Emma Jean) Conley of Atlanta, Georgia, Sarah Douglas of Longstar, Texas , Mrs. Jack (Hattie Mae) Richard of Kaplan and Mrs. Barry (Elsie) Jones of Franklin; three grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Mrs. Madison was preceded in death by her father, grandparents, a niece, a nephew, a sister and two brothers.

VERA LEE DUPRE MIRE

Oct. 16, 1923 ~ Oct. 16, 2010

Vera Mire was a lady who was full of everything good. She believed in living a full life and had the stories to prove it. She believed in her family and always put them first. She gave unselfishly and loved unconditionally. We admire her for her strength and humor. And most of all we admired her for her love.

Vera was a native of Franklin and was a long time resident of Morgan City. In a style of her own, Vera Passed away on October 16, 2010. She never forgot a birthday so it was fitting that she Passed away on her own 87th birthday.

Vera was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. She worked for Chicago Bridge and Iron Works during WWII, and she also worked for West Brothers and Marilyns Hallmark.

She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn and her husband, Senator Butch Gautreaux, of Morgan City; and her daughter-in-law, June Mire. She is also survived by her sisters Barbara, Schexnaildre of Franklin and Muriel Bourque, also of Franklin; four grandchildren, Michael and his wife, Rhonda Gautreaux; Lee and his wife, Stephanie Gautreaux; Lisa and her husband, Rusty Robicheaux; and Michael and his wife, Sandy Mire; 10 great grand children, Alana, Drew, Adrian, Abigail, Buck and Katelyn Gautreaux, Lauren and Alex Robicheaux, Katelyn and Mikey Mire. She is also survived by her special nieces and nephews.

Vera was preceded in death by her husband Adolph “Dickie” Mire; her parents, Aldes and Louise Dupre; two sons, Dickie and Michael Mire; and her great grandson, Ryan Robicheaux.

Visitation was held at Holy Cross Catholic Church Monday October 18, 2010, beginning at 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the Morgan City Cemetery.

Hargrave Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

JEFFERSON POLEDORE SR.

Mr. Jefferson Poledore Sr., 89, a resident of Franklin and native of Four Corners, died November 14, 2010, at 7:29 p.m., at Heart Hospital of Lafayette following a short illness.

He is survived by two sons, Alvin Poledore Sr. and Jefferson Poledore Jr., both of Bronx, New York; two daughters, Isabella P. Guillory and Ann Bell P. Tate, both of Franklin; six grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and eight great great grandchildren.

Mr. Poledore was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Poledore; and a sister, Nancy Depass.

Visitations will be observed Saturday, Nov. 20, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, at the Otis Mortuary Chapel.

Burial rites will be read Saturday, at 12 noon, at the mortuary, with the Rev. Clarence Stewart officiating. interment will follow in the St. Jules Cemetery.

The Otis Mortuary of Franklin is in charge of preparations.

REBA CHAUVIN HEBERT

Oct. 11, 1916 ~ Dec. 8, 2010

Mrs. Reba Chauvin Hebert, 94, a native and resident of Franklin, died December 8, 2010 at the Meadowbrook Specialty Hospital in Lafayette.

Mrs. Reba is survived by two sons, James Michael Hebert and his wife, Diane, of Gulfport, Mississippi and Herman A. Hebert and his wife, Faith, of Franklin; one daughter, Mary Joyce Hebert of Franklin; one brother, Bobby Ray Chauvin of Franklin; two sisters, Marie Dupre of Franklin and Leatrice Hanson of Franklin; 20 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmet Joseph Hebert; two sons, Emmet Hebert Jr. and Harvey Hebert; a daughter, Priscilla Hebert; her parents, Pastor and Celina Chauvin; six brothers, Preston, Henry, Elwood, Jess, Manly and Herman Chauvin; and one sister, Malvina Chauvin Broussard.

The family requests that visitation be observed Saturday, December 11, 2010, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at Ibert's Mortuary in Franklin, with a rosary being prayed at 11:30 a.m.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, December 11, at 1 p.m., at Church of the Assumption, with Father Lloyd Benoit officiating. Burial will follow in the Franklin Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert’s Mortuary, Inc. of Franklin.
