Florence Smith
BALDWIN - Services for Florence Smith, 58, will begin at 7 p.m. today at St. Joseph Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronald Young officiating. interment will be in the Sorrell Community Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. at the church.
A native and resident of Franklin, Mrs. Smith died at 10:41 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, 1998, at Franklin Foundation Hospital.
She is survived by her husband, Lloyd D. Smith Sr.; her mother, Elector Taylor of Four Corners; one son, Lloyd D. Smith Jr. and his wife Karen of Franklin; two daughters, Windy L. Smith of Franklin and Mrs. Gordon (Caroline) Wilson of Madison, Wis.; one brother, Junius "June" Landry of Four Corners; four sisters, Mae Nell Stacey and Clara Taylor , both of Four Corners, Rena Welch of Franklin and Laura Landry of Port Arthur; and two grandchildren.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her adoptive parents, Raymond and Philoman Robinson; and her father, Saul Marks.

Dwight L. Moody
JASPER, Texas - Services for Dwight Lee "Dan" Moody, 72, will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at Stringer and Griffin Funeral Home Chapel. interment will be in the West Oaks Cemetery
near Jasper.
Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. today at the funeral home.
A native of Haswell, Colo., longtime resident of Jasper and resident of Rayburn Country, Mr. Moody died Thursday, Feb. 5, 1998, at Sisters of Charity Jasper Memorial Hospital.
He was a retired Operations Manager for Rowan Companies Inc. and a World War II U.S. Navy veteran.
Mr. Moody is survived by his wife, Patricia Moody of Rayburn Country; one son, Michael D. Moody of Houston; two daughters, Chery Moody Vaughn and Carol Moody Dupuy, both of New Iberia; and seven grandchildren.

Sidney Jones Sr.
BALDWIN - Services for Sidney Jones Sr., 54, will begin at 12 p.m. Saturday at Greater New Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. Mack Crayton Jr. officiating. interment will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Saturday at the church.
A native of Franklin and resident of Baldwin for 18 years, Mr. Jones died at 6 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, 1998, in Lafayette following a lengthy illness.
He was retired from Glenco Vacherie Operation in 1985. Mr. Jones worked for the St. Mary Parish School System, the St. Jude Apartment for Retired Citizens and the St. Mary Parish Police Jury.
Mr. Jones is survived by one son, Sidney Jones Jr. of Baton Rouge; five brothers, Willie Jones of Baldwin, Albert Jones of Jeanerette, Samuel Jones Jr. of Jackson ville, N.C., Joseph Jones and Peter Bryant, both of Port Arthur; and one sister, Rebecca Foster.
He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Jones Sr.; his mother, Bessie Bryant Jones; one brother, Eddie Jones; and one sister, Mary Louise Jones Thomas.
Pallbearers will be Sidney Jones Jr., Johnny Sutton, Sidney Lumpkin, Clarence Colbert, Michael Colbert and Allen Joiner.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Willie Jones, Samuel Jones Jr., Albert Jones, Joseph Jones, Peter Bryant, Raymond Elmore, Johnny White , Michael Foster and Allen Thomas.

Joyce C. Whitmire
Services for Mrs. Jack D. Whitmire, 70, the former, Joyce Cancilla, will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Evangeline Funeral Home Chapel with the Deacon Ken Waguespack officiating. interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at the funeral home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Saturday.
A native of New Orleans, a former resident of New Iberia and resident of Lafayette, Mrs. Whitmire died at 1:04 a.m. today, Feb. 6, 1998, at her residence.
She was the secretary for the Funds Drive to build the new St. Peter's Catholic Church and a member of the Les Ami Civic Club in New Iberia.
Mrs. Whitmire is survived by her husband, Jack D. Whitmire of Lafayette; three sons, Chris Whitmire of Denham Springs, Sam Whitmire of Lafayette and Rick Whitmire of Hanceville, Ala; and six grandchildren, Arianne, Jenine and Leah Whitmire, all of Denham Springs, Aneesa and Maeghan Whitmire, both of Hanceville, and Al and Laura Whitmire, both of Lafayette.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Vida Tardo Cancilla; and one son, Jack Whitmire Jr.

Elias Viator
MERMENTAU - Services for Elias Viator, 82, will begin at 1 p.m. today at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with the Rev. Paul Metrejean officiating. interment will be in the Mermentau Cemetery.
Visitation was from 5:30-10 p.m. Friday with a 7 p.m. rosary at Matthews and Son Funeral Home of Jennings, which will reopen today at 8 a.m. until time of services.
A native of Youngsville and resident of Mermentau, Mr. Viator died at 6:12 a.m. Friday, Feb. 6, 1998, at Jeff Davis Nursing Home.
He was a retired dredgeboat foreman.
Mr. Viator is survived by five sons, Ken Viator of New Iberia, Johnnie Viator, Gary Viator and Robert Viator, all of Mermentau, and Larry Viator of Jennings; one daughter, Mrs. Bennett (Denny) Hanks of Jennings; one brother, Noah Smith of Mowata; two sisters, Mrs. Nolia Welch of Crowley and Mrs. Laura Credeur of Mermentau; 17 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Viator was preceded in death by his wife, Eve Viator, and one daughter, Helen Fontenot.

Marie Lyles
Services for Mrs. Jack C. Lyles, 94, the former Marie Grivat, will begin at 1:15 p.m. Sunday at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Monsignor Guy Lemoine officiating. interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Sunday until time of services at Evangeline Funeral Home.
A native of Loreauville and a former resident of New Iberia who had been living in Baton Rouge, Mrs. Lyles died at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, 1998, at a Baton Rouge nursing home.
Mrs. Lyles is survived by two sons, Cyril J. Lyles of New Iberia and Glynn P. Lyles of New Mexico; two daughters, Audrey Guillory and Myrna Hunter, both of Baton Rouge; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Lyles was preceded in death by her husband, Jack C. Lyles; her parents, Jules and Dorcian Gonsoulin Grivat; an infant daughter, Marilyn Rita Lyles; and sisters and brothers.
Pallbearers will be Lester Preston, Cyril Lyles, Glynn Lyles, Vernie Guillory, Wayne Lyles and Eric Guillory.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at Journet and Bolden Funeral Home, which will reopen at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.
A native and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Lively died at 8:35 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998, at Lafayette General Hospital following a brief illness.
She is survived by her husband, Lucas Lively of New Iberia; her mother, Rose Kelagon of New Iberia; one son, Quinton Kelagon of New Iberia; two daughters, Cherelle Kelagon and Brittany Lively, both of New Iberia; one brother, Charles Kelagon Jr. of New Iberia; and two sisters, Cheryl Collins and Bertha Vital, both of New Iberia.
Mrs. Lively was preceded in death by her father, Charles Kelagon; and her maternal grandfather, Adam Benoit.
Pallbearers will be Charles Kelagon, Michael Lively, John Dural, Michael Vital, Ronald Lively and Johnny Broussard.

Memorial services for Mable "Tee" Provost, 47, will begin at 12 p.m. Wednesday at Fletcher Funeral Home Chapel.

A resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Provost died Sunday, Feb. 8, 1998, at Iberia Medical Center following a brief illness.
She is survived by four sons, Tony Provost, Michael Provost, Chris Provost and Harvey Provost, all of New Iberia; three daughters, Tina Provost, Twana Provost and Shauntelle Provost, all of New Iberia; six brothers, David Provost of Houston, Victor Provost of Lake Charles, Warries Provost, Junius Lewis and Francis Lewis all of New Iberia and Michael Lewis of Breaux Bridge; seven sisters, Dorothy Guy, Linda Jones, Delores Collins, Annie Mae Lewis, Hazel Henry and Mary Provost, all of New Iberia, and Rose Provost of Los Angeles; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor Provost Sr. and Mable Martin Provost; one brother, Horace Lewis; and one sister, Eula Mae Lewis.
