Rita M. Trahan

ABBEVILLE - Services for Mrs. Antoine Trahan, 92, the former Rita Meaux, were held at 10 a.m. today at David and Hebert Funeral Home Chapel. interment was in the St. Paul Cemetery.

A native of Vermilion Parish and resident of Abbeville, Mrs. Trahan died at 9:10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 1998, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home.

The David and Hebert Funeral Home of Abbeville is in charge of arrangements.

Martha Frank

ENGLANDWOOD, Calif. - Services for Mrs. Louis Herbert Frank, 67, the former Martha "Mex" Frank, was held Saturday, at Englandwood Mortuary.

A native of New Iberia and resident of Los Angeles, Mrs. Frank died Saturday, Jan. 24, 1998.

Mrs. Frank was a member of Victory Baptist Church, where she served faithfully as a deaconess and church mother until her health failed her. She was a loving mother not only to her own children but others as well.

She is survived by two sons, Herbert L. Frank of Los Angeles, and Joseph Frank of Port Arthur; two daughters, Mrs. Edmond (Audrey F.) Decuir of New Iberia and Wanda Thompson of Central Islip, New York; two brothers, Albert Johnson and his wife Gloria of San Francisco and Edward Johnson and his wife Helda of Dos Palos, Calif; 24 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; a beloved friend, Wilmon Reeves of Florida; Matte Merriweather, her extended daughter of Carson, Calif; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Frank was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Johnson and Lillie White Johnson ; one daughter, Verna F. Wilturner; four brothers, Iceland Johnson , Erwin Johnson , Charlie Johnson and William Johnson ; and four sisters, Julia Vincent, Margaret Johnson , Mary Sparks and Lillie Mae Clayton.

The Englandwood Mortuary of Englandwood was in charge of arrangements.

Clarence W. Bonin

Services for Clarence William Bonin, 72, will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with the Rev. Daniel Picard officiating. Military graveside services will be conducted by VFW Post 1982 of New Iberia.

Visitation will be from 4-10 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at Evangeline Funeral Home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Tuesday.

A native and resident of New Iberia; Mr. Bonin died at 1:25 a.m. today, Feb. 2, 1998, at a New Iberia hospital.

He is survived by his wife, Una Bonin Bonin of New Iberia; two sons, Michael A. Bonin of New Iberia and Keith W. Bonin of Fort Polk; one daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Granger of New Iberia; one brother, Kenneth Bonin of Davie, Fla.; six sisters, Vernice Hull of Bradenton, Fla., Nan Jordan of Bakersfield, Calif., Mildred Desonier, Mary Ann Moore and Dianna Copell, all of New Iberia, and Melvola Bonin of Kent, Wash; and nine grandchildren.

Mr. Bonin was preceded in death by his parents, Norbert and Anna Rodriquez Bonin; one brother, Mark Jessie Bonin; and two sisters, Everna Lacy and Doris LeBlanc .

Pallbearers will be Mike Bonin, Keith Bonin, Jason Bonin, Ben Granger, Guy Copell and Raymond Grivat.

Honorary pallbearers will be Winston Copell, Eddie Granger, Wesley Landry, Nellan LeBlanc , Leonce Bonin and Lukie Bonin.

The Evangeline Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements. 

James B. Bassett, Sr.

Services for James "Jake" B. Bassett Sr., 49, will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church with the Rev. Paul Thibodeaux officiating. interment will be in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery in Coteau.

Visitation will be from 3-10 p.m. today at David Funeral Home which will reopen Sunday from 8 a.m. until time of services.

A native of Newton, Miss. and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Bassett died at 6:26 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, 1998 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

Mr. Bassett was a senior pipe recovery specialist with Western Atlas, and a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his wife, Diane White Bassett of New Iberia; his father, James O. Bassett of Louin, Miss.; his mother, Edna Walker Bassett of Louin; one son, James Bassett Jr. of New Iberia; one daughter, Dawn Bassett Bodin of New Iberia; one brother, Randy Bassett of Brandon, Miss.; one sister, Diane Sumural of Fairfax, Vir.; one grandson, Seth Bassett of New Iberia and one granddaughter, Shelby Bodin of New Iberia.

Mr. Bassett was preceded in death by one son, Gabriel "Gabe" D. Bassett and one brother, Calley Bassett.

David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Daniel Segura

Services for Daniel Segura, 74, will begin at 2:30 p.m. today at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church with the Rev. Albert Boumans officiating. Entombment will be in the Holy Family Mausoleum.

Visitation was from 4-10 p.m. Friday with a 7 p.m. rosary at the funeral home which will reopen at 8 a.m. today until time of services.

A native and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Segura died at 9:07 a.m Friday, Jan. 30, 1998 at a New Iberia hospital.

Mr. Segura retired from Magnolia Liquor of Lafayette after 34 years of service as a sales representative. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1208, St. Peter's Catholic Church, a member of the Come Lord Jesus Program and the Cursillo Movement. He also was a Fourth Degree Knight, and a eucharistic minister at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife Mildred Reeves Segura of New Iberia; one son, Warren C. Segura and his wife, Debbie Oubre Segura of New Iberia; one daughter, Catherine Segura of New Iberia; one grandson, Brian Anthony Segura of New Iberia; one brother, Allen James Segura of New Iberia and one sister, Shirley Hector of New Iberia.

Mr. Segura was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Aline Bourque Segura.

Pallbearers will be the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus.

Honorary pallbearers will be Warren C. Segura and Catherine Segura.

The Evangeline Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Beatrice M. Dupre

ERATH - Services for Beatrice M. Dupre, 91, will begin at 11 a.m. today at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Erath. Entombment will be in the church mausoleum.

Visitation is today from7:30 a.m. until time of services at David & Broussard Funeral Home.

Ms. Dupre died at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, 1997 at Abbeville General Hospital.

The David & Broussard Funeral Home of Erath is in charge of arrangements.

Verna M. LeMelle

VACAVILLE, Calif. - Services for Verna Marian LeMelle, 64, will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Church with the Rev. Benedict DeLeon officiating. interment will be in the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Thursday with a 7 p.m. rosary at Vaca Hills Chapel.

A native of New Iberia and resident of Vacaville for 27 years, Mrs. LeMelle died Friday, Jan. 9, 1998, at David Grant Medical Center in Fairfield following a lengthy illness.

She was a dietitian for Travis Air Force Base for 13 years and enjoyed sewing.

Mrs. LeMelle is survived by her husband, John LeMelle of Vacaville; her mother, Emme Clay of Louisiana ; one son, John LeMelle of Vacaville; four daughters, Wanda Bailey and Eva Pennix, both of Vacaville; Carmen LeMelle of Suisun, Calif., and Kathy LeMelle of Oakland, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Society of Northern California, P.O. Box 1824, Sacramento, Calif. 95812.

The Vaca Hills Chapel of Vacaville is in charge of arrangements.

Joseph S. Houston IV

Graveside services for the infant Joseph Sanders Houston IV will begin at 2 p.m. Friday at Holy Family Cemetery.

Joseph died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 1998, at Dauterive Hospital.

He is survived by his father, Joseph S. Houston III of New Iberia; his mother, Simone Tauriac of St. Martinville; his paternal grandparents, Joseph S. Houston Jr. and Sherrial S. Houston of New Iberia; and his maternal grandparents, John Winston Tauriac and Betty R. Tauriac of St. Martinville.

The David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Marie L. Dupuis

Services for Mrs. Louis Dupuis, 81, the former Marie Louviere, were held at 11 a.m. today at David Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Thevis officiating. interment was in the Memorial Park Cemetery.

A native of Iberia Parish and resident of Raceland, Mrs. Dupuis died at 11:50 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, 1998, at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center.

She was a housewife.

Mrs. Dupuis is survived by one daughter, Romona Dupuis Bourgeois of Raceland; three sisters, Gloria Plessala of Loreauville, Goldie Viator of New Iberia and Mary Webb of Houston; one grandson, Andre Dupuis of Beaumont, Texas ; and two granddaughters, Jill Bourgeois and Dena Rogers, both of Thibodaux.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Dupuis; her parents, Eddie and Olivia Dartez Louviere; one son, Kerry Dupuis; three brothers, Freddie Louviere, Oliver Louviere and Walter Louviere; and three sisters, Electa Champagne, Yvonne Segura and Bella Toups.

Pallbearers will be family members.

The David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Ozitte Bourque

BROUSSARD - Services for Mrs. Sidney Bourque, 89, the former Ozitte Broussard, were held at 10 a.m. today at St. Joseph Catholic Church. interment was in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Maurice.

A native of Lafayette Parish and resident of Lafayette, Mrs. Bourque died at 4:55 a.m. Monday, Jan. 12, 1998, at a Lafayette nursing home.

The David Funeral Home of Broussard is in charge of arrangements.
