Funeral for Marie Higginbotham, 88, of DeRidder, will be at 2 p.m. today, Nov. 28, at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, with the Revs. Buddy Freeman and James Byrd officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery
in DeRidder.
She died Thursday, Nov. 25, 1999 at her residence.
She was a native and lifelong resident of DeRidder, a member of Primitive Baptist Church in Rosepine and attended Cypress Creek Baptist Church for many years.
Survivors include one son, Joe Higginbotham of DeRidder; four daughters, Christine Keel of DeRidder, Frances Babin of Houma, Joyce Dittmann of Freeburg, Ill., and Bernice Spencer of Rosepine; three brothers, Louis Keel of Texas , Gervis Keel of Magnolia, Ky., and Marlon Keel of DeRidder; one sister, Sarah HIgginbotham of DeRidder; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
CHARLES E. COOLEY
Memorial service for Charles Earl Cooley, 49, of DeRidder, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000 at Singer Baptist Church in Singer, with the Rev. Joe Pool officiating. His remains were cremated.
Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder is in charge of arrangements.
He died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000, at a hospital in Shreveport.
He was a native of DeRidder and was self employed with his own brokerage company.
Survivors include two sons, Alex Cooley and Nathan Cooley, both of Washington ; one daughter, Margaret Ana Williams of Natchitoches; one brother, Arthur Cooley of Rosepine; two sisters, Debbie Guerrero of Pitkin and Cassie Vanderpool of Mt. Lake Terres, Wash.; and one grandchild.
GWENDOLYN A. HARPER
Funeral for Gwendolyn A. Harper, 48, of DeRidder, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 12, at Shady Grove United Pentecostal Church in DeRidder, with the Revs. Jeff Phillips, Ken Gibson and L.E. Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery
in DeRidder, under the direction of Beauregard-Vernon Funeral Home in DeRidder.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. today, May 11, at the funeral home and from 8 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.
Mrs. Harper Passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2000, at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital in Lake Charles.
Mrs. Harper was a native and lifelong resident of DeRidder and was a former secretary for DOTD Engineer in DeRidder. She was a lifelong member of the Shady Grove United Pentecostal Church in DeRidder where she served as organist, Sunday school teacher and was the lead vocalist with Jerry Day and Sounds of Gospel.
She was preceded in death by her parents Rev. and Mrs. Wilbern Ashworth.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas J. Harper of DeRidder; one brother, Donnis W. Ashworth of DeRidder; one sister, Marilyn A. Day of DeRidder; three nieces and one nephew.

Lena Rainwater, 90, of DeRidder, died Wednesday, May 10, 2000, at her residence. Services are pending at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder.
HARTSON SLAYDON
Hartson Slaydon, 97, of DeRidder, died Wednesday, May 10, 2000. Services are pending at Hixson Funeral Home in DeRidder.
Stephen G. Hummel
A memorial service is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, for a Fort Polk soldier who died of an apparent heart attack Wednesday, June 14, 2000.
Staff Sgt. Stephen G. Hummel, of K Troop, 3rd Squadron, 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment was pronounced dead Wednesday morning at Fort Polk's Bayne Jones Army Community Hospital.
Hummel, 36, of Aleron, Ohio, was participating in physical training at the 50-meter pool located next to the hospital, when he showed signs of a severe medical condition, according to a statement issued by the Public Affairs Office of the Joint Readiness Training Center and Fort Polk.
Hummel had 15 years of military service. He arrived at Fort Polk in February 1997. He was a motor sergeant.
He is survived by his wife, two children, his mother and his father.
REV. J.D. YOUNG
Funeral for Rev. J.D. Young, 70, of DeRidder, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Aug. 17, at Grace Church in DeRidder, with the Revs. James Kimball, Gary Bankson, George Glass Jr. and Reddie Harper officiating. Burial will be in Dry Creek Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time.
He died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, at Beauregard Memorial Hospital.
He was a native of Dry Creek and lived in DeRidder most of his life. He served as omsbudsman for Merryville Nursing Home. He was a member of Trout Creek Pentecostal Church and was a radio evangelist for KCIJ at Fort Polk. He was past minister for Dry Creek Pentecostal Church, Trout Creek Pentecostal Church and Welcome Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include his wife, Dessie Young of DeRidder; one son, David Young of DeRidder; two daughters, Donita McMahon of Rosepine and Lisa Milliken of Austin, Texas ; two brothers, Larry Young of Valdosta, Ga., and Jerry Young of Vidor, Texas ; one sister, Geraldine Hanchey of DeRidder; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
B.C. DOYLE
Funeral services for B.C. "Duck" Doyle, 79, of DeRidder, will be held Friday, April 2, at 1 p.m. at the Myers Colonial Chapel. The Rev. Lloyd Jeane will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Whitaker Cemetery
of DeRidder.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 1, from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Myers Colonial Chapel in DeRidder.
He died Wednesday, March 31, 2004, in DeRidder.
NAOMI ELIZABETH HOLLIE
Funeral services for Naomi Elizabeth Hollie, 85, of Fields, will be Thursday, April 1, at 2 p.m. at the Fields Pentecostal Church. The Revs. Douglas Hollie and Terry Lee will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Hyatt Cemetery
in Fields under the direction of Myers Colonial Funeral Home of DeRidder.
Visitation will be Thursday at the Fields Pentecostal Church from 10 a.m. until time of the services.
She died Tuesday, March 30, 2004, in Fields.
LAURA HARPER LETNEY
Funeral services for Laura "Sissy" Harper Letney, 44, of Brookeland, Texas , were held Tuesday, March 30, at 10 a.m. at Forest Oaks Chapel.
Burial was in the Townsend Cemetery
in San Augustine County.
Letney, a native of DeRidder, died at her home Saturday, March 27.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ivory Pharr, 58, of Berwick, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 3, at Mt. Ester Baptist Church. Rev. Vaughn will officiate.
Burial will be in the Morgan City Cemetery
under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Morgan City/Franklin.
She died Sunday, March 21, 2004, at her residence.
R.V. YOUNG
R.V. Young, 83, of DeRidder Passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2004, at his residence. Funeral services will be Friday, April 2, at 10 a,m, at the Pentecostal Gospel Lighthouse Church in DeRidder.
He will be interred in the Beauregard Mausoleum at the Beauregard Cemetery. Rev. Wayne Pounders will officiate the service.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 1, at the church.
AUDIE MAE BROWN
Funeral service for Audie Mae Brown, 92, of Merryville, will be at 9 a.m. today, Nov. 19, at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder with the Rev. Jeremy Squires officiating. Burial will follow in Merryville Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time.
She died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, at Merryville.
Survivors include numerous cousins.
