Wendall Mercer Barrows
A Memorial Service was held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, 2005, at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 400 Camlia Blvd. in Lafayette for Wendall Mercer Barrows, 86, who died Wednesday, April 20, 2005, at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Rev. Herman Ogea, pastor of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, conducted the service.
Mr. Barrows, the son of the late Herman Edward Barrows and the former Demi A. Young, was a native of Point Pleasant, W. Va., and resided in Lafayette. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and was a member of the American Legion Post 77 in Rayne. He was a chemical engineer.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille Domingue Barrows; one daughter, Ann and husband John Stevens of Belpre, Ohio; two step-daughters, Billie Henry and husband Bob of Lafayette, and Faye Cook and husband, Louie, of Rayne; one son, Robert Mercer Barrows and wife Miriam Jordan of Maple Shade, New Jersey; one stepson, Donald L. Domingue and wife Diana of Rayne; six grandchildren, Kelly Cyrus Magnon, Christine Wood, Lindsay Barrows, Ann Hemphill, Joy Cyrus, Kristi Hensley; numerous step-grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Mr. Barrows was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Mary Lou DeVinney; one son, Thomas Neal Barrows; two brothers and one sister.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 2680, North Canton, Ohio 44720.
The family extends special thanks to the nursing staff at Lafayette General Medical Center ICU and fourth floor and the staff at Garden View Assisted Living.
Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette was in charge of all funeral arrangements.

Clifford (Nooky) Guidry
Clifford (Nooky) Guidry, 72, of Rayne, died at 7:55 p.m. in the Rayne Guest Home on Friday, April 22, 2005.
There were no services after visitation which was observed Sunday from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m.
He is survived by two sons, Dwayne Guidry, Lafayette, and Craig Guidry, Rayne; one daughter, Julie Guidry, Lafayette; one grandchild, Brailey Guidry, Rayne; and one brother, Baday Guidry of Rayne.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Julie Simon and Hubert Guidry; two brothers, Dennis and Curtis Guidry; and three sisters, Ella Mae Benoit, Mabel Credeur, and Bertha Benoit.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of arrangements.

Clarence Meche
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 25, 2005, at 1 p.m. in St. Michael’s Catholic Church, with Father David Broussard officiating, for Clarence Meche, 68, of Egan, who died at 9:37 a.m. Thursday, April 21, 2005, in Lafayette General Medical Center.
Visitation was observed from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. until time of services Saturday.
A rosary was prayed Friday at 6:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Burial was in Estherwood Memorial Cemetery in Estherwood.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Meche, Egan; mother, Frances S. Gautreaux, Duson; one son, Roby Clarence Meche, Rayne; one daughter, Kathleen Meche Thevis, Gueydan; four brothers, Roy Gautreaux, Rayne, Johnny and Jeffery Gautreaux, both of Duson and Kimmy Gautreaux, of Scott; six sisters, Barbara Delhomme, Beverly Prejean and Rosa Doga, all of Duson, Emily Duhon, Lafayette, Evan Harrington, Sugarland, Texas , and Connie Myers, Freeport, Texas ; one grandson, Coby Meche, Crowley; one grand daughter, Kaitlyn Thevis, Gueydan.
Mr. Meche served in the National Guard.
Mr. Meche was preceded in death by his stepdad, Mr. Eddie Gautreaux, and one granddaughter, Crystal Ann Meche.
Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley was in charge.

Emma C. Charlot
CHURCH POINT –– Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2005, in St. John Berchman Catholic Church in Cankton, with Father Henry Broussard officiating, for Emma C. Charlot, 67, of Church Point, who died at 1:15 a.m. Monday, April 25, 2005, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.
Visitation will be Saturday, from 8 a.m. at the funeral home chapel until time of services.
Burial will be in the St. John Berchman Church Cemetery in Cankton.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph L Charlot, Church Point; two daughters, Reva Mae and Roger Monroe, Branch, and Rita and Leroy Ozon, Scott; one son, Clarence and Carolyn Charlot, Lafayette; two stepsons, Wilbert Charlot, Branch, and Melvin Charlot, Houston, Texas ; five stepsisters, Joyce and Rev. L. West, Judy Citizen, Dianne Pattum, all of Jennings, and Dorothy Johnson and Carolyn and Fred Joseph, all of Los Angeles, Calif.; three stepbrothers, Ronald Citizen and Donald Citizen, both of Jennings, and Dalton Citizen, Los Angeles, Calif.; 32 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one infant daughter; her parents, Joseph and Florence Citizen Sr.; two brothers, Martin Citizen and Joseph Citizen, Jr.; one stepbrother, John H. Citizen, and one sister, Georgeanna Pete.
Duhon Funeral Home of Church Point was in clarge of funeral arrangements.

George L. Larriviere, Jr.
LAFAYETTE –– Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 16, 2005, at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home for Mr. George L. Larriviere, Jr., 75, who Passed away Thursday morning, April 14, 2005, at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Entombment services were held at Fountain Memorial Mausoleum in Lafayette
The Rev. Robie Robichaux, pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, was the celebrant of the Funeral Mass and conducted the funeral services. Lisa Roy sang for services, performing Be Not Afraid, My Shepard Is Lord, Notre Pere, and Amazing Grace.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Shirley Hornsby Larriviere of Lafayette; one daughter, Georgette Prejean and her husband Ron of Lafayette; one son, Al Larriviere and his wife, Debbie of Rayne; one sister, Annette Gossen of Rayne; five grandchildren, Emily Vanderlick and her husband Michael of Lafayette, Mary Frances Huggard and her husband, Blake of Houston, Texas , Jack Larriviere of Lafayette, Scott Larriviere of Rayne; and Alayna Larriviere and her son, Tyler, the only great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Leonce Larriviere, Sr., and Mrs. Winnie Mauboules Larriviere; and one sister, Helen Foreman.
Mr. Larriviere was a native of Rayne and long time resident of Lafayette. He served his country as a member of the Louisiana National Guard. He worked at Bank of Commerce in Rayne for many years until his retirement. He was also the designer and founder of Cajun Pine Golf Club. His family will remember him as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
A Rosary was prayed in his memory Saturday, April 16, 2005, at 12 noon at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette.
The family observed visiting hours from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2005, at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home.
Fountain Memorial Funeral Home and Cemetery was in charge of arrangements.

Mervine L. Jankower
LAFAYETTE –– Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 21, 2005, in the Fountain Memorial Funeral Home Chapel for Mervine L. Jankower, 73, who Passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2005, in Lafayette General Medical Center.
Private interment services will follow the funeral service.
Mr. Jankower was born in Atlanta, Ga. in 1932. His family relocated to Rayne, La. when he was 12 years old. He graduated with a Juris Doctorate Degree from Tulane Law School. He served his country as a Judge Advocate General in the U.S. Air Force for two years. He was named President of his family’s business “The Mervine Kahn Company” in Rayne, La., and continued practicing law until his retirement. He was an avid golfer and will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Marilyn Davis Jankower, of Lafayette; one son, Steven Michael Jankower and his wife, Laura, of Lafayette: one daughter. Laurie Ellen Jankower and her fiance, Kenneth James, of Lafayette; two granddaughters, Lauren Ashley Jankower and Melanie Michelle Jankower, both of Lafayette; and one sister, Barbara Ellen Jankower, of Houston, Texas .
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edel and Myrtis Jankower.
Honorary pallbearers will be Rich Sheubrooks, Frank Adelman, Claude “Boo” Mason, Bobby Paschal, Jim Cunningham, Dr. Carl Gumpert, Conrad Weil, Barney Foreman, Dr. Herbert Davis, Russell Atchetee, Gene Cella, Gil Pinac, Don Meyer, Dr. Jim Lipstate, Gene Lipstate and Frank Milambri.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to Our Lady of Fatima School D.E.C. Program for students with special needs.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 9 a.m. Thursday, April 21, 2005, until service time.
Fountain Memorial Funeral and Cemetery, located behind Adrien’s off of Congress, is in charge of arrangements.

Lennes Joseph Meche
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 16, 2005, at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Lennes Joseph Meche, 71, who died Thursday, April 14, 2005.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years Sable Gary Meche; one son and his wife, Brysen and Katie Meche of Rayne; and one daughter, Tessa and her husband, James Price, of Rayne; seven grandchildren, Amber M. Leger, Stony Meche, Toye M. Hightower, Justus Meche, Flint Meche, Leif Meche, and Taylor Price; two sisters, Mary Lee Melancon of Rayne and Geraldine Dejean of Mire; one brother, Hilman Meche of Rayne.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leodis and Tolise Mier Meche; two sons, Michael Lane Meche, and Brady Charles Meche; and one sister, Renella Meche.
Mr. Meche was a retired Rayne city policeman, and was presently employed by Doug Ashy of Rayne.
Pallbearers were Brysen Meche, James Price, Stony Meche, Justus Meche, Flint Meche, and Leif Meche.
Visitation was Friday from 11 a.m. until services on Saturday, with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Friday.
Burial was in the St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of Gossen Funeral Home of Rayne

George L. Larriviere, Jr.
LAFAYETTE –– Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 16, 2005, at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home for Mr. George L. Larriviere, Jr., 75, who Passed away Thursday morning, April 14, 2005, at Lafayette General Medical Center.

Rebecca Marie Hanks Makuch
Memorial services for Rebecca Hanks Makuch will be held at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne on Saturday, April 23, 2005.
Becky, beloved wife of Rance, mother of Michele Muskat, and grandmother of Antonia Muskat, succumbed to a long illness on March 16, 2005.
She was born in Rayne in 1942 and graduated second in her class from Rayne High. She received a full scholarship to LSU and was in LSU's Marching Band. After three years, she transferred to Kansas University with a second scholarship, where she got a bachelor of arts and master of arts degree in music therapy graduating with distinction.
She worked in Special and Elementary Education through her career teaching for 13 years and was a special education director for 12 years in Page Arizona School District. She was a part owner of Worthmore’s Store.
She will be missed by her husband, daughter, and granddaughter, and nephews Isaac Louis Hanks (Melissa), Robert Allen Hanks (Mollie), Mitchell Joseph Hanks, and niece Cheramie Lynn (Hanks) Bass (Aaron). Her grandnephews and nieces were special to her in a way only she could elaborate.
She lived a life of service to others and through multiple degrees she tried to help everyone she met. From a small child she understood the responsibility for those less fortunate.
She was preceded in death by her father, Isaac J. Hanks; her mother, Effie Hanks; and her brother Isaac David Hanks. She will be in good company in Heaven.
