Michael C. Hoffpauir
Memorial services were held Monday, February 2, 2004, at 6 p.m. in the Gossen Funeral Home Chapel, for Michael C. Hoffpauir, 53, who died January 29, 2004, at his family’s residence in Rayne after a long battle with cancer.
Mike is survived by his mother Pat Breaux Hoffpauir of Rayne; one sister Josette Hoffpauir Baker and her husband Jerry of Rayne; his godchild and nephew Chris Baker of Rayne. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Hoffpauir.
Michael was a 1968 graduate of Rayne High School, and attended Northeast State University. He was a life long resident of New Orleans. Before his illness Michael worked on restoration and rehabilitation of historic French Quarter Homes.
Visitation was Monday February 2, 2004 from 4 p.m. until services at 6 p.m.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Volunteers of America, 114 Exchange Place Lafayette, La. 70503.

Amy Doucet Courville
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, in St. Edwards Church in Richard, with Deacon Jim Cormier officiating, for Amy Doucet Courville, 90, of Church Point, who died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at 8:38 p.m. in the Acadia St. Landry Hospital in Church Point.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel.
Burial was in St.Edwards Church Cemetery in Richard.
She is survived by three grandsons and their wives, Patrick and Priscilla Doucet, Branch, Brent and Kay Doucet, Church Point, and Jason and Mandy Doucet, Canerval Groves, Fla.; two granddaughters, Mona Daigle and her husband Paul of Branch and Phyllis Bourque, ChurchPoint; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.-
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Willie Doucet; her second husband, Sidney Courville; two sons, Hilton Doucet and one infant son; one infant daughter; one sister, Rena Bellard; her parents, Maxilien and Emelie Matte; and a special friend, Clarence Estilette.
Duhon Funeral Home of Church Point was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Hazel Fontenot Trahan
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 4, 2004, at a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Catholic Church for Hazel Fontenot Trahan, 84, who died Monday, February 2, 2004, at 4:45 a.m. at her residence.
interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery #2.
Survivors include her four sisters, Loretta Hanks, of Scott, Anna Fontenot, of Duson, Lilly Fontenot, of Scott, Mary Broussard, of Orange, Texas ; one brother, Andrus Fontenot, of Rayne; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Trahan; parents, Lessin Fontenot and Andrea Leger Fontenot; one sister, Elia Sonnier.
Mrs. Trahan was born in Lafayette Parish and has been in Rayne for the past sixty years.
She worked at Worthmore’s, Sal Kahn and for thirty-two years at Mervine Kahn in the shoe Department.
She was a member of Catholic Daughters, Ladies Altar Society, Rayne American Legion Ladies Auxiliary for many years.
A rosary was prayed at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tuesday.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 a.m. until time of services.
Arrangements were entrusted to Gossen Funeral Home Inc. of Rayne.

Joey Paul Fontenot
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church for Joey Paul Fontenot, I, 48, who died Monday, Jan. 26, 2004 in Malaysia.
Mr. Fontenot was a member of the Masonic Lodge #243 and also Habibi Shriners of Lake Charles.
Fr. Joe Steffus officiated for the services.
Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery in Crowley.
He is survived by his wife, Janet H. Fontenot of Crowley; his mother, Thelma F. Jones and her husband S.D. of Crowley; three daughters, Angela F. Arceneaux and her husband Jamie of Temple, Texas , Allyson F. Trahan and her husband Nelson of Youngsville and Ashley L. Fontenot of Crowley; three sons, Christopher P. Fontenot of Crowley, Jason H. Fontenot of Rayne and Joey P. “J.P.” Fontenot, II of Crowley; three brothers, Douglas A. Fontenot of Atlanta, Jeff H. Fontenot of Church Point and Karl M. Fontenot and his wife Maureen of Crowley; two sisters, Denise F. Greene and her husband Allen of Crowley and Kim F. Leger and her husband Macky of Crowley, nine grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Andrew Habetz Jr. of Rayne, Harold Habetz and his wife Priscilla of Lafayette, Martha H. Pierret and her husband Paul of Scott, Doris H. Carmouche and her husband Henry of Bear Creek, Texas , Alice H. Pastor and her husband Michael of Crowley; Mildred H.. Matte of Lafayette, and Milton J. Habetz Sr. and his wife Karen of Crowley; numerous nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
His father, Jasper H. Fontenot, precedes Mr. Fontenot in death.
The pallbearers were Douglas Fontenot, Jeff Fontenot, Karl Fontenot, Macky Leger, Eric Roberts and Allen Greene Jr.
Visitation was observed Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Thursday from 8 a.m. until the time of the service.
Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home of Crowley was in charge of the arrangements.

August “Ceyro” J. Richard
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, February 6, 2004, at a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Catholic Church for August “Ceyro” James Richard, 61, who died Tuesday, February 03, 2004.
interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery #2.
Survivors include one daughter, Annette Richard, of Rayne; three sons, Ronnie Richard, of Metairie, Glen Richard and wife Sadie, of Rayne, and Greg Richard, of Rayne; three grandchildren, Blake Richard, Joshua Richard, and Ryker Richard; mother, Anna Richard, of Indian Bayou; two sisters, Gladys Maloz, of Rayne, and Shirley Hanks and husband Percy, of Scott; two brothers, Gilford Richard and wife Lois, of Crowley, and Harry Richard and Paulette Breaux, of Lafayette.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dallas Richard.
Mr. Richard worked for Central Industries Inc. for 34 years and formerly worked for the Rayne Auxiliary Police Department for many years.
The family would like to thank Louisiana Hospice for the care and support they gave to Ceyro and his family, and a special thanks to his sister and godmother Gladys Maloz for all her love and care she gave to her brother.
A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Thursday.
The family requested that the visiting hours be observed from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. until time of service Friday.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Gossen Funeral Home Inc. of Rayne.

LeRoy (Red) Gary
CROWLEY ––Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 22, 2004, with Father Gary Schexnyder officiating, for LeRoy “Red” Gary, 80, of Crowley, who died at 9:10 p.m. Tuesday, January 20, 2004, in the Rayne Guest Home.
Burial was in Woodlawn Cemtery in Crowley.
He is survived by his wife, Annie Belle Gary, Crowley; two daughters, Elia G. Roy, Crowley, and Cecile Gary, Eunice; two brothers, Rene Gary, Sulphur, and Leo Gary, Meaux; two sisters, Annie Lorena Gary Mire, Kaplan, and Helen Gary Wray, DeQueens, Ark.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Mr. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Aurelie and Amy Gary; one sister, Marie Zula Gary; two brothers, Dewey and Jean Gary.
He served in the United States Army durng World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was member of the American Legion Post No. 15 of Crowley. He was a fomrer member of the KC Council at Immaculate Heart for 40 years. He was also a former member of the VFW Post No. 6720 of Crowley.
Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Gertie Marie Forestier Lantier
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 27, 2004, at a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Catholic Church for Gertie Marie Forestier Lantier, 83, who died Sunday, January 25, 2004, at 3:45 p.m. in Crowley American Legion Hospital.
interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery #2.
The Rev. Richard Wagner, S.J.J., pastor of Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church, celebrated the Funeral Mass and conducted the services.
Survivors include one daughter, Diane Fajkus, of Pollock, La.; one son, Joseph H. Lantier, of Scott; one granddaughter, Heather D’Arnelle, of Richards, Texas ; two great grandchildren, El Rune, of Richards, Texas , Leaf Maddox, of Richards, Texas ; two stepgrandchildren, Bubba Fajkus, and Kimberly Fajkus, both of Pollock.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Esta Lantier; parents, Aristophe Forestier and Odilia Cormier Forestier; three sisters, Odelia Champagne, Lillian Thibodeaux, and Ezola Breaux; and three brothers, Issac Forestier, Edward Forestier, and Alcide Forestier.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Monday.
The family requested that the visiting hours be observed from 1 p.m. until 10 p.m. Monday and from 8 a.m. until service time Tuesday.
Arrangements were entrusted to Gossen Funeral Home Inc. of Rayne.

Lula Lavergne
Funeral services were held on Monday,Jan. 19, 2004, at 2 p.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church for Lula Lavergne, 62, of Duson, who died Friday, Jan. 16, 2004, at 10:45 p.m. in Southwest Medical Center in Lafayette.
A rosary was recited Sunday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery No. 2.
Visitation was observed Sunday from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. and Monday from 8 a.m. until time of services.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda Campbell, Duson, and Sandra M. Lavergne, Duson; two sons, A. J. Lavergne, Youngsville, and Al Lavergne, Duson; four sisters, Marie Dugas, Theresa Pepper, and Jeanette Wickham, all of Lafayette, and Alice Touchet, Scott; 10 grandchildren; one step-grandchild, two great-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alphe Lavergne, Sr.; her parents, Lucille Leger and Mayo Bourque; and one daughter, Laura Fontenot.
Pallbearers were A.J. Lavergne, Al Lavergne, Dave Campbell, John Dogua, Austin Lavergne, and Cory Lavergne. Honorary pallbearers were P.J. Fontenot and John Fontenot.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arrangements.
