Charles Scott Thibodeaux
CROWLEY –– Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005, at 2 p.m. in St. Edwards Catholic Church in Richard, with Deacon Jim Cormier officiating, for Charles Scott Thibodeaux, 29, of Crowley, who died at 1:45 a.m. Monday, Jan. 24, 2005, in Crowley’s American Legion Hospital.
A rosary was said at 5:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Burial was in the St. Edwards Cemetery.
He is survived by his father, Preston Thibodeaux, Church Point; mother Theresa Thibodeaux, Crowley; three brothers, Robert Thibodeaux, Denham Springs, and Terry Thibodeaux and Richard Thibodeaux, both of Church Point; on sister, Tammy Nation, Rayne; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Thibodeaux was preceded in death by nieces and nephews.
Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley was in charge of funeral arrangement.

Jackie Campbell
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005, in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel here, with the Rev.Doug Cormier officiating, for Mrs. Jackie Campbell, 40, of Church Point, who died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005, at 5 a.m. in Branch.
Visitation will be observed Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of services that afternoon.
Burial will be in the St. Theresa Cemetery in Duson.
She is survived by two daughters, Mia Campbell and Penny Campbell, both of Church Point; a future son-in-law, Clay Johnson of Church Point; six sisters, Shirley Boudreaux, Scott, Barbara Duhon, Duson, Shirleen Racca, Lafayette, Cindy LaGrange and Bonnie Navarre, both of Rayne, and Nancy Solis of Parks; two brothers, Glenn Bourque and Randy Bourque, both of Duson; and one grandchild, Braylin Johnson , Church Point.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Campbell; her parents, Theresa Guidry and Joseph Bourque; and five brothers, Earl, Jimmy, Dale, Donald, and Blain Bourque.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Patricia A. “Pat” Cantrell
OPELOUSAS –– Funeral services for Mrs. Patricia A. “Pat” Cantrell, 58, were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10, 2005, at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas with burial in Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.
The Rev. Angelo Cremaldi conducted the services.
Mrs. Cantrell, a native of Gonzales, Texas , and a resident of Opelousas for many years, died at 3 a.m. Friday, Jan. 7, 2005, in Opelousas General Health System.
She taught in the St. Landry Public School System for a total of 26 years. Mrs. Cantrell was a graduate of Northwestern University with a B.S. in education. She was a loving mother and grandmother and enjoyed being with family and friends. Mrs. Cantrell will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include one son, Charles Cantrell, former Life Teen coordinator at St. Joseph Catholic Church, and his wife, Allison Guidry, of Houston, Texas ; one brother, Butch Darnell, of Cairo, Egypt; and one grandchild, Ella Marie Cantrell.
Mrs. Cantrell was preceded in death by her parents, Filmore Edward Darnell and Vivian Romaire Darnell.
A rosary was recited Sunday at 7:30 p.m.

Enola C. Richard
CHURCH POINT –– Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005, in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Msgr.Fred Swenson officiating, for Enola C. Richard, 78, of Church Point, who died at 4:25 Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005, in the Acadia-St. Landry Hospital in Church Point.
Burial was in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church Cemetery in Church Point.
A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel.
She is survived by three daughters, Linda and Zena Matte, Jr., Rayne; Kathy Fontenot, Church Point, and Betty and John Kelly LeJeune, Church Point; one brother, Phillip and Minnie Carrier, Church Point; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Ms. Richard was preceded in death by her husbands, Leroy Richard; Edison Matte, Jr., and Herman Ledoux; and several sisters and brothers.
Duhon Funeral Home of Church Point was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Elvie Leger
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005, in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel, with Father Bill Ruskoski officiating, for Mrs.Elvie Leger, 91, of Rayne, who died at 7:38 p.m.Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, in the Rayne Guest Home.
A rosary was recited at 6:30 Tuesday in the funeral home chapel.
Burial was in the mausoleum in St. Joseph Cemetery No. 2 here.
She is survivors by two sisters, Rosita Venable and Aline B. Guidry, both of Rayne, and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ferdinand Leger; her parents, Helena Brasseaux and Claudus Bergeron, and her siblings.
Special thank you for the staff of Rayne Guest Home and the staff of Hospice of Acadiana for the special care given Mrs. Leger.
Donations may be made to Hospice of Acadiana, Suite 200, 2600 Johnston St., Lafayette, La. 70503.

Ryan Nelson Corbins
Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, at 10 a.m. in St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Crowley, with Father Richard Sadlier officiating, for Ryan Nelson Corbins, 18, of Rayne, who died on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2005, in Winnfield.
Burial was in the South Crowley Cemetery in Crowley.
He is survived by his surrogate mother, Magnolia Hollier, of Rayne; father Russell Corbins, Rayne; a sister, Crystal Corbins, Lake Charles; a surrogate brother, Lester J. Washington III, Rayne and Osagle Omoruyi, Rayne; grandfather, Nelson Arcenceaux, Crowley; and Russell Corbins, Sr., and Lucille Corbins, Crowley.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Jacqueline Corbins and grandmother, Stella Arceneaux.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Owens-Thomas Funeral HOme of Crowley.

John J. Arabie
Our beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather. His Love and Kindness touched the lives of so many.
Funeral services were held Tuesday January 11, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church for John J. Arabie, 71, who died Sunday, January 9, 2005, at his residence in Rayne.
Survivors inclued his wife, Nellie Joyce Cormier Arabie, of Rayne; two sons, Greg and his wife Danette Arabie of Rayne, John “Boo” Arabie and his companion Christy Quirk and her son, Logan, all of Rayne; eight grandchildren, Cody, Cory, Brittany, Ashley, and Ross Arabie, Abby, Alexis, and Samantha Touchet; two great grandchildren, Landon and McKinley Touchet; two nephews, and one niece.
Mr. Arabie was preceded in death by his parents, Mack and Bernadette Tauzin Arabie; one brother, Maxie Arabie; two sisters, Eunice Leblanc and Olla Simon; and one step-son, Rocky Touchet.
Pallbearers were his sons, Greg and John “Boo” Arabie, grandsons, Cody and Cory Arabie, nephews, Roy and Roland Leblanc. Honorary pallbearers were grandson, Ross Arabie, nephews, Bobby Cormier, Steve Hanks, and Keith Courville, and friends, Claude Patin and Leward Meche.
He was an avid fisherman, and hunter, and enjoyed the outdoors until his illness prevented him from doing so. His grandchildren were his pride and joy and his time with them was special. He also enjoyed playing bouree and euchre with friends while he was able.
The family wishes to thank Hospice of Acadiana, Dr. Mike Mounir, Dr. Maurice Sullivan, Dr. James Lipstate, Our Lady of Lourdes 3rd floor infusion Unit, and the security guards.
Visitation was Monday January 10, 2005 from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Monday, and Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until services.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and V.F.W. Post 9822 of Judice, he was retired from Gulf States after 31 years as a line foreman.
Burial was in the St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of Gossen Funeral Home of Rayne.

Eliza Leleux Simon
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10, 2005, in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Lyons Point, with Father Pousson officiating, for Eliza Leleux Simon, 82, of Morse, who died at 1:15 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, 2005, in Amercian Legion Hospital in Crowley.
Burial followed in the St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Lyons Point.
A rosary was recited Sunday at a 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
She is survived by one daughter, Margary Thibodeaux, Lyons Point; four foster sons, Melvin Riley, Lake Charles, James Evans, Shreveport, and Charles and Ricky Haley, both of Ebenezer; two brothers, Pierre Leleux and Vern Leleux, both of California; one sister, Louise Maggio, Beaumont, Texas ; and six grandchildren, Monica and Donald
Hilliard, Jr., Tracy and Wesley Meaux of Lyons Point, Rikkie and Tony Jacobson, Eden Prairie, Minn., Brady and Alisha Thibodeaux, Kaplan, Rachael and Courtney Bieber, Mamou, and Kimberly and Jeremy Langley, Lyons Point; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Ms. Simon was preceded in death by her husband, Eldes Simon; her parents, Theophas and Emelita Leleux; one brother, Willis Leleux; one sister, Beulah Leleux; and one son, Joseph Simon.
She was a member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church’s Altar Society.
Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley was in charge of arrangements.

Anthony B. Thompson
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, 20005, in the Duhon Funeral Home chapel in Crowley, with the Pastor Lloyd Signley officiating, for Anthony B. Thompson, 77, of Crowley, who died at 7:55 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, 2005 in Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.
Burial was in the North Hanks Cemetery.
He is survived by one son, Jerrl Thompson, Crowley; two daughters, Gwendolyn Sue Romig, Grosse Tete, and Martha Steffy, Crowley; raised two sons, Dudley Simon of Harrison, Ark. and John Simon, Jr. Hemitt, Calif.; one brother, Nathan Thompson, Crowley; five sisters, Elnora Fike, Syracuse, N.Y., Geraldine Guidry, Vinton, Pat Meaux, Baker, Barbara Comeaux, Crowley, and Margie Fontenot, Vinton; seven grandchildren, Todd Romig, Jonathan Romig, Erin Beth Hollie, Jessica Thompson, Eric Thompson, Ryan Thompson and Valarie Thompson Guidry; and 13 great-grandchildren, Alexis, Hunter, Makenzie, Kennedy, Crew Everett, Shawn, Brittany, Monica, Caleb, Joshua, Meredith and Abbigal and Hale.
Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his wife, Doy Smith Thompson, one son, Everette Allen Thompson; one grandson, Everette Allen Thompson, Jr, and his parents, Jessie and Dorsena Bergeaux Thompson.
Mr. Thompson served in the United States Army, Marines and other guards. He was a member of the VFW Post 6720 of Crowley and a lifetime member of the DAV.
Pallbearers were Eric and Ryan Thibodeaux, Stewart Belsom, Brian Comeaux, Kent Smith and Keith Navarre.
Honorary pallbearers were Kevin Steffy, Joe Romig, Todd Romig, Johanthan Romig and Dudley and John Simon.
Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley was in charge of arrangements.
