John W. Bertrand
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 18, 2003, at a 2 p.m.Mass of Christian Burial in the St. Theresa Catholic Church in Duson for John W. Broussard, age 77, who died Monday, June 16, 2003 ,at 4:45 a.m. in the Lafayette General Medical Center.
interment was in the St. Anne Cemetery in Youngsville.
The Rev. Martin Leonards, pastor, St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Catholic Church, was the celebrant of the Funeral Mass and conducted the services.
Joni Hamilton, organist, sang for the services, The Lord’s Prayer, On Eagles‚’ Wings, Yo’‚ll Never Walk Alone, Amazing Grace, and Hail Mary, Gentle Woman.
Survivors include his wife, Marita M. Broussard, of Duson; two sons, John W. Broussard, Jr., and Jimmy Dale Broussard; one step-daughter, Charlene Pellerin and her husband, Jimmie; one step-son, Kenneth Dale LeBeouf; six grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one step-great grandchild; four sisters, Eunice Broussard and her husband, Lloyd, Zula Broussard and her husband, Vernice, Gladys Theriot and Bonnie Bourgeois and her husband, Jeffery; and four brothers, Lawrence Broussard and his wife, Floraine, Hector Broussard and his wife, Pat, Dalton Broussard and his wife, Helen and Alton Broussard.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Lou Guidry Broussard; his parents, Philibert and Eva Mire Broussard; and two brothers, Clabert and Minos Broussard.
A native of Maurice and a resident of Duson for 15 years, Mr. Broussard was a veteran of military services having served in the United States Army during World War II.
Prior to his retirement he worked as a land surveyor for Old Man Yandle and was Supervisor of the City of Lafayette Drainage Dept. for 11 years. Mr. Broussard had also worked the night shift for many years at Lafayette Ice Factory.
He was a member of the St. Theresa Catholic Community.
Full military honors were conducted by members of the VFW Post #6720 of Crowley. Buglar was Gary Edmondson.
A rosary was prayed Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Martin & Castille Funeral Home in Scott.
Memorial contributions in Mr. Broussard’s name may be made to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston St., Suite 200, Lafayette, LA 70503.
Pallbearers were Larrell Richard, Carl Broussard, Jimmy Dale Broussard, Jimmie Pellerin, Dalton Broussard, Travis Pellerin and Marsha A. Pellerin.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Martin & Castille Funeral Home, Inc. of Scott.

Frank Antony “Tony” Mouton II
MIRE –– A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Mire for Frank Anthony (Tony) Mouton II, who died at 11 a.m. Sunday, June 8, 2003, at Terrebonne General Hospital in Houma, La. after a short illness.
The Very Rev. Msgr. Richard Von Phul Mouton and Msgr. Russell Harrington were co-celebrants of the Mass and presided over the services.
interment was in Assumption Cemetery in Mire.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Sherleen Venable Mouton of Mire; three daughters, Kathy, Keresa and Kreseda Mouton, all of Mire; his parents, Frank Anthony (Tony) Mouton, Sr., and Margaret Apple Mouton of Lafayette; one sister, Amanda Mouton Fife of Greensburg, La.; six brothers, Richard, Danny, Steven and Gregory Mouton, all of Lafayette, Timothy Mouton of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Andre Mouton, of Foley, Ala.; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Scranton Inez Von Phul Mouton of Lafayette; his godfather, the Very Rev Msgr. Richard Von Phul Mouton of Lafayette; his godmother, Mrs. Dorothy Butcher Pocklington of Ellicot City, Md.; four godchildren; and many other family and friends who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Kristian Anthony and Kameron Anthony; one sister, Marie Inez Mouton; one brother, Joseph Francis; maternal grandparents, Joseph Aubrey Appel and Amanda Hebert Apple; and paternal grandfather, Cranton Alfred
Mouton, Sr.
Pallbearers included Richard Mouton, Danny Mouton, Steven Mouton, Timothy Mouton, Brian Venable, Tony Wells and Jeff Person. Honorary pallbearers were Michael Venable and Brandon Toups.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Monday.
Tony was born on May 4, 1958 in Lafayette and resided there until moving to Mire in 1980, when he lived until his death. He was a bicentennial graduate of Lafayette High School in 1976. He was presently employed by Universal Compression of Broussard. He was dedicated to his job and worked hard to succeed.
Tony loved his family dearly and treasured his friendships.
Arrangements were entrusted to Gossen Funeral Home of Rayne.

Ovide E. Boudreaux
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 7, 2003, at 11 a.m. in the St. Joseph Catholic Church, for Ovide E. Boudreaux, 88, who died in Brunswick, Ga.
Survivors include two sons , Ronald “Ronnie” Guidry of Brunswick, Ga., and Glory Adams of Morgan City; one brother, Ernest Boudreaux, of Rayne; one sister, Estelle Scheufens of Iowa La.; and two grandchildren.
Mr. Ovide was preceded in death by his parents, Clement and Laurence Trahan Boudreaux; and one son,

Antoine Boudreaux.
A Rosary was recited Friday at 7 p.m.
Burial was in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Gossen Funeral Home of Rayne.
Nola Manuel Fuselier
CROWLEY –– Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2003, in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel, with Father James Nguyen officiating, for Nola Manuel Fuselier, 97, of Crowley, who died Sunday, June 8, 2003, at 3:27 a.m. in the Crowley American Legion Hospital.
A rosary was recited at 7 pm. Monday.
Burial was in Ashford Cemetery in Basile.
She is survived by three daughters, Grada Morgan, Crowley, Geneva Perez, Mablewood, and Lou Anna Boudreaux, Baker; 11 grandchidren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Curley Fuselier; her parents and siblings.
Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Gwendolyn (Gwen) Jeffers Doucet
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2003, in St. Joseph Catholic Church here, with Father Bill Ruskoski officiating, for Gwendolyn (Gwen) Jefferson Doucet, 74, of LaPlace, who died Saturday, June 7, 2003, at 12:33 p.m. in the River Parish Hospital in LaPlace.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Monday.
Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery No. 2 in Rayne.
She is survived by two sons, Gerald Doucet of LaPlace and Jeff Doucet of California; two daughters, Belinda Doucet and Tammy Chauvin, both of LaPlace; three sisters, Marjorie Jeffers, Crowley, Sandra Cormier, Virginia, and Joann Richey, Egan; one brother, Hugh Jeffers, Crowley; one grandchild, Cadi Chauvin; and mother-in-law of Paul Chauvin, LaPlace.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Adam Doucet; and parents, Wilma and Elmer Jeffers.
She was a native of Rayne and resident of LaPlace.
Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Mitchell Devaugh Evans
Mictchell Devaugh Evans suddenly left this earth on June 1, 2003, at the age of 22.
He was a resident of Rayne and a 2000 graduate of Rayne High School.
Mitchell was the son of Shirl Evans of Rayne and Darrell Bernard of Crowley. Along with his parents, he leaves to cherish his memory two sisters, Melody Evans, mother of his two nieces, of Rayne, and LaDonna Evans of Baton Rouge.
Visitation will be held at the Shrine of Our Mother of Mercy in Rayne from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Friday, June 6, 2003.
Funeral services will immediately follow the visitation.
interment will be in the Our Mother of Mercy Cemetery.
Arrangements were entrusted to H.G. Raphael Funeral Home.

Lula Mae Guidry
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 1, 2003, in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Crowley, with Deacon Kendal Faulk officiating, for Lula Mae Guidry, 70, of Kaplan, who died at 10:10 p.m. in the Vermilion Health Care Nursing Home in Kaplan.
Burial was in the Cassinade Cemetery in Kaplan.
She is survived by two sons, Roger Dale Guidry, Abbeville, and Galbert John Guidry, Kaplan; four daughters, Martha MaRie Gary and Helen Guidry, both of Kaplan, and Brenda Nolan and Barbara Richardson, both of Crowley; three brothers, Sidney Trahan, Missouri, and Wilfred Trahan and Nelson Trahan, both of Maurice; two ssiters, Anna Mae Bourque, Abbeville, and Namez Thibodeaux, Sulphur; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
Mrs. Guidry was preceeded in death by her husband, Doris John Guidry; parents, John and Helen Roy Trahan; and two brothers, Andrew and Mayo Trahan.
Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley was in charge of arrangements.

Rose Briscoe Bibb
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 25, 2004, at a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Edmund Church in Branch for Rose Briscoe Bibb, 88, who died Thursday, June 24, 2004, at Acadia-St. Landry Hospital in Church Point.
Entombment was in Sacred Heart Mausoleum in Church Point.
Survivors include one daughter-in-law, Jennifer Fontenot, of Branch; one step-daughter, Florett Buckner, of Lafayette; two sisters, Mrs. Rodney Fontenot, of Branch; and Mrs. Allen Boudreaux, of Sulphur; one brother, Roy Briscoe, Church Point; two grandchildren, Cyprien Fontenot, Branch, Jodi Leger, of Branch; three great grandchildren; and two very close friends, Margaret Goodwin and Eva Goodwin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Fontenot; grandchild, Amy Fontenot; husband, Clyde Bibb; daughter, Mary Fontenot; one brother, Hilton Briscoe; and one son, Walter Kenneth Fontenot.
Mrs. Bibb worked for a Pennsylvania Shipyard as a Finishing Welder during WWII, and also at Rayne Branch Hospital in General Supply Department for about 15 years.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Arrangements were entrusted to Gossen Funeral Home Inc. of Rayne.
