Funeral services for Jacqueline Pippens, 69, of Jonesboro were held Nov. 12 at the Hodge Cemetery with the Rev. Elton Gunter officiating.
Mrs. Pippens died Nov. 10 at LSU Medical Center.
Born Nov. 21, 1932 in Shreveport, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by daughters, Debra Renee Horton of Fort Worth, Texas , Rhonda Louise Kirschmann of Kill Devil Hills, N.C. and Donna Lucille Pippens of Sevierville, Tenn; son, Edwin Deweese Huckaby of Cannon City, Colo.; and six grandchildren.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Harvey
Thurl Harvey, 76
Funeral services for Thurl “Skinny” Harvey, 76, of Quitman were held Oct. 29 at the Antioch Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Staples officiating.
Mr. Harvey died Oct. 28 at the North Monroe Hospital after a lengthy illness.
He is survived by one sister, Marie Hammons of West Monroe; three brothers, Earl Harvey and wife Joyce of Quitman, Charles Harvey and wife Lywanda of Jonesboro and Hoye Harvey and wife Flora of Monroe; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe.

Odom
Jesse Odom, 65
Funeral services for Jesse Dean Odom, 65, of Coushatta were held Nov. 3 at the Antioch Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Tyler officiating.
Mr. Odom died Nov. 1 at Schumpert Medical Center.
Born March 16, 1937 in Hodge, Mr. Odom was a surveyor.
He is survived by sons, Jesse Ray Odom and wife Jeanette of Castor, Gregory Glen Odom of Shreveport, John B. Angle and wife Beth of Montgomery, Ala. and Jesse Dean Odom, Jr. and wife Kendra of West Monroe; daughters, Shirley Odom of West Monroe, Sherri Huey and husband Gene of West Monroe, Beverly S. Terry and husband Rick of West Monroe and Barbara Nell Odom of West Monroe; brothers, Jimmy Odom of West Monroe, Bobby Odom of Tucson, Ariz. and Eddie Odom of West Monroe; and 12 grandchildren.
Pallbearers were John Angle, Patrick Huey, Bobby Odom, Jr., Eddie Odom, Jr., Larry Schuon and Rick Terry.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Pierce
Johnnie Pierce, 86
Funeral services for Johnnie Ezelle Pierce, 86, of Bossier City were held Oct. 31 in the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Howington officiating. Burial followed in the Jonesboro Cemetery.
Mrs. Pierce died Oct. 29 at Doctor’s Hospital.
Born Feb. 16, 1916 in Bienville, she was a housewife.
She is survived by son, Belvis Pierce and wife Carolyn of Bossier City; sister, Georgia Bond of Jonesboro; and grandsons, Chad and David Pierce of Bossier City.
Pallbearers were Sam Ledbetter, Dewitt Jones, Don Sims, Stuart Harrison, Kenneth Folden and Bill Jimmerson.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Thrasher
Willie Thrasher, 95
Funeral services for Willie Maude Swanner Thrasher, 95, of Jonesboro were held Nov. 3 at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Matthew Wohlfarth officiating. Burial followed in the Ebenezer Baptist Cemetery.
Mrs. Thrasher died Nov. 1 at the Jackson Parish Hospital.
Born June 25, 1907 in Jonesboro, she was a housewife and a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Jonesboro. She was preceded in death by her husband M. Grayson Thrasher.
She is survived by daughter, Dorothy Lowery and husband Henry E. Lowery of Jonesboro; brother L.T. “Tyson” Swanner of West Monroe; granddaughter, Kathy Allen and husband Charles Allen, Jr. of Hodge; five great-grandchildren, Grayson, Natalee, Thurston, Winston and Madalyn Allen, all of Hodge; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Pallbearers were Eddie Gatlin, Jimmy Rogers, Troy Smith, Kenneth Standley, Bobby Gayle Swanner and Donnie Warren.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Poda
Helen Poda, 83
Funeral services for Helen Marguerite Poda, 83, of Jonesboro, were held Nov. 4 at the Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Collinsworth officiating. Burial followed in the Springhill Cemetery.
Mrs. Poda died Nov. 2 at Lincoln General Hospital.
Born Feb. 28, 1919 in Huttig, Ark., she was a housewife.
She was preceded in death by her husband James L. Poda, Sr. and one son, Johnny Ray Poda.
She is survived by one son, James Poda of Ruston; four grandchildren, Dana Poda, Mona Colvin, Renee Davis and Dudley Poda; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Donald Smith, Jerry Smith, Rusty Colvin, Larry Frasier, Dudley Poda and Randy Davis.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Williams
Bess Williams, 86
Funeral services for Bess Maude Williams, 86, of Doyline were held Nov. 4 at Jonesboro Cemetery with the Revs. Mike Igo, Sowders and Larry Hatcher officiating.
Mrs. Williams died Nov. 2 in Minden.
Born April 5, 1916 in Jonesboro, she was a housewife.
She is survived by daughters, Halda Ruth Brown and husband Jim of Doyline and Pam Watson and husband Ronnie, all of Doyline; son, Dalton Williams and wife Una of Monroe; grandchildren Ronnie Watson, Jr. and wife Monica, Jim Brown, Jr. and wife Sheri, Adam Williams and wife Traci and Aaron Watson; and three great-grandchildren, Luke Watson, Jake Watson and Whitney White .
Pallbearers were Jim Brown, Jr., Aaron Watson, Ronnie Watson, Jr. and Adam Williams.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Coleman
Carl Coleman, 80
Carl “Shug” Coleman, 80, died at Schumpert Medical Center on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002 following a brief illness. Mr. Coleman was a native of Jonesboro and a resident of Shreveport for 35 years. As a hobby he performed in many bands, and at church he enjoyed listening to others perform. He played several different musical instruments and was a decorated veteran who served in World War II during the Normandy Campaign, the Northern France Campaign, the Central Europe Campaign and the Rhineland Campaign.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Lillie Coleman and brother, S.L. Coleman.
He is survived by his son Ric Coleman; daughter, Toni Caruso; one grandchild; two great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Wayne and Bud Coleman.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Donaldson
Ina Donaldson, 94
Funeral services for Ina Williams Donaldson, 94, of Jonesboro were held Oct. 29 at the Fellowship Baptist Church with the Revs. R.P. Willis and E.D. Morris officiating. Burial followed in the Fellowship Cemetery in Quitman.
Mrs. Donaldson died Oct. 27 at the Jackson Parish Hospital.
Born Jan. 29, 1908 in Union, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by daughter, Maylene Dingler and husband Bill of Fort Worth; son, Charlie Dale Donaldson and wife Rosemary of Germantown, Tenn.; sister, Laverne Langlois of New Rhodes; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Tommie Jones, Joe Langlois, Eddie Maxwell, Jerry Maxwell, Rob Williams and Joe Williams.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Merrigan
Connie Merrigan, 41
Anchorage, Alaska resident Connie Lynn Merrigan, 41, died Oct. 19, 2002 at her home.
A gathering of friends was held at 3 p.m., Friday, Oct. 25 at Evergreen Memorial Chapel, 737 E St. A service of remembrance followed at 4 p.m. with Chaplain Don McCullough officiating.
Ms. Merrigan was born May 16, 1961 in Lake Charles and received her education at Baylor and East Stroudsburg, Penn. She lived in Anchorage from 1974-77 and returned to Alaska in March 2000.Ms. Merrigan worked for the Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corp. in Bethel for a year and for the University of Anchorage for a year.
Her family wrote, “Connie was a passionate friend, daughter, sister and aunt whose beautiful spirit would touch and enlighten (everyone).”
Survivors include her mother, Merle Merrigan of Quitman; niece, Anita Merrigan of Anchorage; sister, Toni Merrigan of Wasilla; and brother-in-law Roy T. Sheller of Wasilla.
Her father, Gene Merrigan, preceded her in death.
Family requests memorial donations to Defenders of Wildlife, 1104 14th St. N.W.; Suite 1400, Washington , D.C. 20005.Arrangements were made with Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
