Grady Jones, 92
Funeral services for Grady Jackson Jones, 92, of Winnfield were held Sept. 3 at the Southern Funeral Home Chapel in Winnfield with the Revs. Arthur Robinson and Bill Walker officiating. Burial followed in the Cypress Creek Cemetery.
Mr. Jones died Sept. 1 at Parkview Nursing Home in Winnfield.
He was a member of Joyce Assembly of God.He was preceded in death by his wife Edna Deese Jones and two children, Gerlene and Roy.
He is survived by sons, Grady “Bo” T. Jones of Dodson and John E. Jones of Winnfield; daughters, Margaret Walker of Andrews, Texas , Judy Campbell of Dodson and Jackie Carpenter of Dodson; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Matthew Jordan, Ken Carpenter, Shannon Walker, Ralph Walker, John Jones, Jr. and Gary Jones.
Services were under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.

Pardue
Nellie Pardue, 89
Funeral services for Nellie Pardue, 89, of Jonesboro were held Sept. 4 at the Jonesboro Assembly of God with the Revs. Paul Bradford and Michael Moak officiating. Burial followed in the Garden of Memories.
Mrs. Pardue died Sept. 1 at Summit Hospital.
Born Aug. 3, 1913 in Castor, she was a housewife.She is survived by daughters, Sylvia Pardue Horsley of Houston and Sandra Pardue Hughes of West Monroe; son, William C. “Bill” C. Pardue, Jr. of Leesville; sisters, Nora Mae Dillard of Shreveport, Nola Hawthorne of Minden and Dorothy King of Palmer Lake, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Billy Hawthorne, Christopher Horsley, Kevin Hughes, Randy Odenbaugh, Charles Pardue and Kevin Prestridge.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Williams
Johnny Williams, 49
Funeral services for Johnny Lee Williams, 49, of Jonesboro were held Sept. 9 at the Southern Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard Shreve officiating. Burial followed in the Ebenezer Cemetery.
Mr. Williams died Sept. 7 at Lincoln General Hospital after a short illness.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Williams of Jonesboro; parents, James and Dorothy Williams of Terlton, Okla.; sons, Sean Williams and wife Krissy of Clarks and Kevin Williams of Jonesboro; brother, Steven Williams and wife Jackie of Birmingham, Al.; sister, Barbara Bates and husband Wayne of Kokomo, In.; and granddaughter, Elezabeth Williams.
Services were under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Brown
Wilfur Brown, 72
Wilfur Brown was born in Jackson Parish, La., Feb. 18, 1930. He died Aug. 27, 2002 in Pasadena, Texas . He was self-employed for 20 years as a Master Plumber before retiring.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 36 years, Vel Brown; and his six daughters with their husbands, Liz Latham, Linda and Billy Glasscock, Cathy Kuhanook, Joella and Joey Stubbs, Doris Sandford and Carla and Kevin Emery. He also leaves his brother and wife, Ralph and Sue Brown, and sister Wanda Rae and Lavelle Loe. He leaves his loving grandchildren Mitch Latham, Joshua and Jennifer Glasscock, Misty Pharris, Daniel and Thomas Stubbs, Victoria and Krystal Sandford and Samantha and Zachary Emery. He had two great-grandchildren, Brandon Rebcock and Madelynn Latham. A service of remembrance was held Aug. 30 in the Chapel of Pasadena Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jim Palmer officiating.
Burial was on Aug. 31 in Jonesboro at the Springhill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Hospice Care Team or the American Cancer Society.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Williams
Eddie Williams, 97
Services for Mr. Eddie Williams, 97, of Ruston, La. were held Aug. 31, 2002 at the new Prosperity Baptist Church in Clay with the Rev. William Roberson officiating.
Mr. Williams accepted his heavenly gift of eternal life on Monday, Aug. 26, 2002 at the Minden Medical Center.
His parents, John and Julia Moore Williams, along with his four siblings, Mae Ola, Bessie, John Walter and John Henry Williams, preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his memory, four children - Bettye Jean (Cleo) Anders and Jerry B. Williams, both of Ruston, La.; Richard Ted Williams of Monroe, La., and Elaine Williams (Nathan) Turner of Houston, Texas . He was blessed with five grandchildren - Greg, Monica, Kim, Randall and Jeralyn. He was further blessed with five great-grandchildren.
He often bragged on the devotion and care given him by his daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Williams and his one-of-a-kind niece, Nelda Baisy. His extended family, neighbors and friends were always a joy and comfort to him.T
he family of Eddie Williams gratefully acknowledges all aspects of kindness shown them during the illness and death of their loved one. The family will be eternally grateful, especially to his caretakers Katherine Wimberly, Martha Williams and Phyllis Modest. The family also wishes to express special thanks to the following: Doctors Wayne Owens, Tommy Smith and Sallie Sartor, Lincoln General ICU, Minden Medical Center, Health South Rehabilitation Hospital, Town and Country Rehabilitation Hospital and Northwest Hospice Care Services.
Special thanks to Aunt Margaret Richard, his neighbor, Pedro Faison, and to his “so called lawyer” and friend Bill Smith for their support, help and concern.

Thomas
Irma Thomas, 91
Funeral services for Irma Leora Thomas, 91, of Shreveport were held Sept. 2 at the Carolina Baptist Church with the Rev. P.H. Rodrigues officiating. Burial followed in the Carolina Cemetery.
Mrs. Thomas died Aug. 31 at Landmark Nursing Home.
Born Dec. 4, 1910 in Saline, she was a homemaker.
She was a long-time member of the Carolina Baptist Church in Saline.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Levi Thomas and two daughters, Laura Bell Mayfield and Elsie Leola Hocker.
She is survived by son-in-law, Bruce D. Mayfield of Shreveport; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers were Cody Cheatwood, Bruce Mayfield, L.L. Robinson, Billy Ray Thomas and Wayne Thomas. Pallbearers were Jubal Cheatwood, Bryan Dean Mayfield, William Lewis Mayfield, Jeff Robinson, Barry Thomas and Mark Thomas.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Anderson
Ophelia Anderson, 71
Funeral services for Ophelia Anderson, 71, of Quitman were held Aug. 25 at the Southern Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in the Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery.Mrs. Anderson died Aug. 23 at Jackson Manor Nursing Home after a lengthy battle with leukemia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robley and May Cox; brother, Eugene Cox; and great-niece, Tanya Hughes.
She is survived by her husband, Dewey of Quitman; son, Jesse of Fort Worth, Texas ; and sisters, Pauline Uli-Zysek of Shreveport and Ann Hill and husband Don of Quitman.
Services were under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Bond
Loretta Bond, 69
Graveside services for Loretta Bond, 69, of Jonesboro were held Aug. 23 at the Walnut Ridge Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Staples officiating.
She died Aug. 21 at Forest Haven Nursing Home after a long illness.
She is survived by sons, Danny Andrew Fallen of Dallas, Jerald Dwayne Jones of Bernice and Walter Levi Bond and wife Annette of Jonesboro; daughters, Karen Rose Hegewood and husband Jerry of Tennessee; Alva Elaine Dean and husband Rannie of Bernice and Katherine Renee Bond of Jonesboro; brothers, Dow W. Rushing, Jr. of Lafayette and Johnny Rushing of Broussard; 10 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Coleman
Mary Coleman, 85
Funeral services for Mary Chloe Coleman, 85, of Baton Rouge will be held Aug. 28 at the Southern Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Leach officiating. Burial followed in the Old Saline Cemetery.
Mrs. Coleman died Aug. 25 in Baton Rouge after a long illness.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cosby L. Coleman; daughter, Elizabeth Leedy; grandson, Keith Coleman; granddaughter, Catherine Leedy; and five brothers and sisters.
She is survived by sons, Cosby Coleman and wife Dora of Houston, William Coleman and wife Carolyn of Danville, Jerry Coleman and wife Nelda of Shreveport, Gerald Coleman and wife Violet of Denham Springs and Billy David Coleman and wife Darrie of Lucky; son-in-law, Paul Leedy, Sr. of Jonesboro; sister, Josephine Ray of Houston; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Services were under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Duck
Robert Duck, 59
Funeral services for Robert Dale Duck, 59, of Ruston were held Aug. 23 at the North Hodge Assembly of God with the Revs. Gene Cumpton, Stuart Toms and Steve Foster officiating. Burial followed in the Beech Springs Baptist Cemetery.
Mr. Duck died Aug. 21 at Glenwood Medical Center.Born Oct. 3, 1942 in Quitman, he was a mudlogger.
He is survived by daughters, Shelly Beech and husband Randy of Chatom, Al; and Deann Worley and husband Doug of Ruston; son, Bobby Duck and wife Karen of Quitman; brother, Douglas Wayne Duck of Indiana; and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers were J.W. Duck, Danny Hanes, Elmer Lane Hanes, Johnny Lowe, Patrick Duck and Bennie Phillips.
Services were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.
