(Died Sept. 24, 1999) Funeral arrangements have been completed for Myrtis Crain, age 91, a former resident of 43481 Cumnock Road, Franklinton who died Friday, Sept. 24 at the Heritage Manor Nursing Home.

Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 1 at the Crain and Sons Funeral Home of Franklinton from 3-7 p.m. when the family hour will commence. The funeral service will be held on Saturday Oct. 2 at 11 a.m. at Lear's Hill Church of God In Christ with the Rev. Leslie Fields officiating. interment will follow at Lear's Hill Cemetery.

She is survived by seven daughters Emma Lee Walker, Myrtis Lee Warren, Jeanie Conerly, Essie Singleton, and Shirley Johnson , all of Franklinton, and Betty Jackson and Mildred Anderson of California; five sons Willie J. Crain, Sr. and Walter Crain of Franklinton, Jewell Crain of New Orleans, Latimore Crain, Jr. and Elijah Crain of California; a step-mother Gladys Holmes of Tylertown, MS; four sisters Muyer Carson, Katherine Lewis and Shirley Holmes, all of Tylertown, MS, and Jerrstine Holmes of Houston, TX; four brothers Ollie Holmes, T.J. Holmes, Bobby Holmes, and Harvey Holmes, all of Tylertown, MS; 44 grandchildren; 89 great grandchildren; 19 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Latimore Crain, Sr.; two sisters Beulah Jackson and Vergie Stamps; two brothers Artis Holmes and John Holmes; three grandchildren Roderick Johnson , Wanda Jackson , and Amos Earl Warren.

Mrs. Josephine Guileyardo

BOGALUSA - The funeral service for Mrs. Josephine Guileyardo, 83, was conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at the Annunciation Catholic Church in Bogalusa with the Rev. Fr. Lawrence Phelps officiating. Burial followed in Ponemah Cemetery.

Visitation was from 2-9 p.m. Sunday at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home, with rosary and vigil services at 7 p.m. Mrs. Guileyardo died Thursday at Dixon Medical Center in Baton Rouge.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Guileyardo, a son, Joseph Guileyardo, a sister, Annie Gagliano, and three brothers, Tiney Saraceno, Ned Saraceno and Anthony Saraceno.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Tiney and Ann Guileyardo, Denham Springs, and Manuel and Sandra Guileyardo, Baton Rouge two sisters, Angeline Bosco and Mary Rose Killens, both residents of Bogalusa; a brother, Vito Saraceno Jr., Bogalusa; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Tera Luper

(Died August 3, 1999)
POPLARHEAD - Tera Luper a resident of the Poplarhead community died Tuesday at the Riverside Medical Center. She was a member of the Poplarhead Missionary Baptist Church.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. Wednesday and will continue at the Poplarhead Missionary Baptist Church after 8 a.m. Thursday until time for the funeral service at 10 a.m. in the church with Eld. Willie J. Passman officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was preceded by her husband, Charlie Luper; one sister, Lela Luper and two brothers Wayne and Jewell Sumrall. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Lucille and Richard Wade of Franklinton; one granddaughter, Jamie Wade of Franklinton; one great grandson; and three brothers, Hillary Sumrall, Willie Sumrall and Jessie Sumrall, Jr. all of Franklinton.

Bettie Ladner Knight

(Died August 2, 1999)
BOGALUSA - Funeral arrangements for Bettie Ladner Knight, age 69, will be conducted for the Chapel of Brown-McGehee Funeral Home on Thursday at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Kenny Williams and the Rev. Tommy Varnado officiating. She was native of Poplarville and lifelong resident of Bogalusa. An employee of Wal-Mart and Salle's Supermarket, and a member of Pettitt Memorial Baptist Church. Visitation will be on Wednesday evening from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. and will continue on Thursday after 8 a.m.

interment will follow in Hillview Memorial Gardens in Bogalusa. She was preceded in death by her parents, Levander L. Ladner and Cora Lee Ladner; two brothers, J.D. Ladner, and Virgil Ladner; and one sister, Clote Myrick.

Survivors include, her husband, Marvin C. Knight of Bogalusa; one daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Charles Rester of Bogalusa and one son, Gregory Knight of Bogalusa; one sister, Mrs. Myrl Rester; and two grandchildren, Joshua and Justin Rester both of Bogalusa.

Letha Speights Keller

(Died July 30, 1999)
BOGALUSA - Funeral services for Letha Speights Keller, age 99, will be held Friday at 7 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Aaron J. Thompson officiating.

Dismissal will be Saturday at 8 a.m.. interment will be at Duffy Memorial Garden Cemetery under the direction of Crain and Sons Funeral Home of Bogalusa.

She is survived by three daughters, Ida Mae Smith and Sadie K. Marshall both of Bogalusa, and Leaudria K. Miller of New Orleans; two sons Curtis Martin and Eugene Keller both of Bogalusa; one son-in-law, Samuel L. Miller III of New Orleans; 40 grandchildren; 71 great grandchildren; 17 great great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Martha McLain Alford

BOGALUSA - Funeral arrangements have been completed for Martha McLain Alford, age 80, who died yesterday in Bogalusa Community Medical Center A native of Covington, she had been a resident of Bogalusa for 55 years, and was a member of Superior Avenue Baptist Church.

Visitation will be today from 5 to 10 p.m. at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home, continuing tomorrow at 8 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel The Rev Charles Purvis and the Rev Sollie Smith will officiate, with interment in Ponemah Cemetery.

She is survived by a daughter, Linda Alford Talley of Bogalusa; a son, Elza R Alford Jr of Lawton, OK; a grandson, Larry David Pack Jr and a granddaughter, Tobi Leigh Talley, both of Bogalusa; a brother, James McLain Sr of Covington; five step-grandchildren, several step-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elza Ray "Tango" Alford; her parents, Deave and Julie McLain; two brothers, D J and Kelly McLain; and a sister, Hazel Jones.

Johnny Andrew Seals

BOGALUSA - The funeral service for Johnnie Andrew Seals, age 64, will be held today at 2 p.m. in the Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home chapel. The Rev. Billy Galloway and the Rev. Donnie Boutwell will officiate, with interment in Ponemah Cemetery.

A resident of Bogalusa, he died at 2 p.m. Sunday in Lakeview Regional Medical Center, Covington He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Betty Valenti Seals of Bogalusa; two daughters and a son- in-law, Jo Ann Miley and Allison Lorraine and Billy Ritter, all of Bogalusa; two sons and daughters-in-law, Virgil and Belinda Seals, Kenneth Wayne and Dorinda Seals, all of Bogalusa; a granddaughter, Amanda Leanne Seals and two grandsons, Jonathan Allen Seals and Benjamin Ray Ritter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Seal; a sister, Lela Seal; and a brother, J. L. Seal.

Visitation was held yesterday from 5 to 10 p.m. at the funeral home, and continued today until time for the funeral service.

Steven Ridgdell

BOGALUSA - Steven Ridgdell, age 33, a native and resident of Bogalusa, died Sunday in New Orleans.

He is survived by his mother, Pauline Creel Ridgdell of Bogalusa; a sister, Janet Louise Ridgdell Thomas of Bogalusa; three brothers, John Ridgdell, Julius Ridgdell and Carson Ridgdell, all of Bogalusa; four nieces and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Ridgdell; his paternal grandparents, Julius and Florence Ridgdell; and maternal grandparents, T.C. and Dixie Creel.

Visitation will be today from 5 to 10 p.m. in Brown-McGehee Funeral Home, continuing tomorrow until time for the funeral service at 3 p.m. in the chapel. The Rev. W.L. Pierce will officiate, with interment following in the Nobles Cemetery at Pine.

Terri McElveen Parsons

(Died Oct. 30, 1999)

FRANKLINTON Funeral arrangements have been completed for Terri McElveen Parsons, age 39, a resident of Mt. Hermon who died Saturday at 8:30 p.m. in Riverside Medical Center.

She is survived by her husband, Roland Parsons of Mt. Hermon; three daughters, Deshea Parsons, Bridgette Parsons and Kaci Parsons, all of Mt. Hermon; a son, Braeden Parsons; her father, Bobby McElveen of Mt. Hermon; her mother, Murlie Stevens of Mt. Hermon; two sisters, Debra McElveen of Mt. Hermon and Sheryl Lee of Dallas, TX; her grandmother, Alma Stevens; a granddaughter, Ragan Dakota Parsons; a nephew, Blake McElveen and a niece, Cameron McElveen; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. Visitation will be today from 5 to 10 p.m. at the Crain Funeral Home, continuing tomorrow at 8 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 2 p.m. in the chapel. The Rev. Otho Schilling will officiate, with burial following in the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery.

James Edward Williams

(Died Oct. 18, 1999)

MELBOURNE FL Native Bogalusan James Edward Williams, 72, a retired federal agent, World War II veteran, Mason and a resident of Melbourne, FL., died in Melbourne on Oct. 18.

interment was in Florida Memorial Gardens on Oct. 24. The son of the late Eugene B. Williams, he is survived by a son, Robert Williams and a sister, Martha Lee Sampson of Bayonne, NJ.

David Henrik Thomassen

(Died Oct. 22, 1999)

MT. HERMON - A graveside service will be held Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery for David Henrik Thomassen, 42, who died Friday in Muskogee, OK.

He was a native and resident of Franklinton.

Ashley Renea Sawyer

(Died Oct. 31, 1999)

FRANKLINTON - The funeral service for Ashley Renea Sawyer, age 5, was held at 10 a.m. today in the Crain's Creek Missionary Baptist Church. Eld. Willie J. Passman, Eld. Edward Penton and the Rev. Jerry Cox officiated, with burial following in the church cemetery.

A resident of Pine, she died at 10:30 a.m. Sunday in Childrens Hospital, New Orleans.

She is survived by her parents, Herbert Alan and Mandy Sawyer of Pine; a sister, Kristy Nicole Sawyer and a brother, Brian Alan Sawyer, both of Pine; her grandparents, John and Verdie Caves of Pine, Herbert Sawyer and Mary Sawyer, both of Tylertown; uncles and aunts, Ricky and Aundrea Caves of Hackley, Scott Caves of Pine, Teddy and Tina Caves of Bogalusa, Hubert Sawyer of Tylertown, Charles and Sue Sawyer of Cutoff, LA, Ann and Terry Jennings, Kathy and Jerry Hendrix, Mary Sawyer and Jimmie Ray Ogden, all of Monroe; numerous cousins and family friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Bonnie Barber Sawyer; and great-grandparents, Bill and Agnes Corkern Caves and Tincie and Novie Barber.

Visitation was held at the Crain Funeral Home from 5 p.m. yesterday until 9:30 a.m. today.

Brian Kelly Breshears

(Died Oct. 31, 1999)

BOGALUSA - A graveside service was held yesterday at 10 a.m. in the Rester Cemetery at Varnado for Brian Kelly Breshears, age 33, a resident of Bogalusa who died Sunday at 11:33 a.m. in Lakeview Regional Medical Center, Covington. The Rev. Lynn Martin officiated at the service.

He is survived by a son, Justin Breshears of Albuquerque, NM; his mother, Carolyn Rachel Breashears of Bogalusa; his father, Kelly Breshears of Bogalusa; a brother, Terry Wayne Ladner of Bogalusa; his grandparents, Nellie Ruth and Wilton Pittman, and Vernon Rachel, all of Bogalusa; a very special friend, Staci Furr of McComb; and numerous other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Lynn Breshears; and two brothers, Kenneth Breshears and Brad Breshears.

The Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Loda Ford Bell

(Died Oct. 31, 1999)

FRIENDSWOOD, TX - Former Bogalusan Loda Ford Bell, age 83, died Sunday in Friendswood, TX. following a lengthy hospitalization.

A native of North Louisiana , she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy Roy and Sheryl Bell of Friendswood; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Elsie Harris of Alexandria, Rose and Clarence Moorman of Natchitoches and Danita Ford of Benson, LA; three brothers and three sisters-in-law, Fred Ford of Benson, Henry P. and Ruby Ford of Bogalusa, James and Betty Ford of Houston, and Vera Ford of Alvin, TX.

Visitation will be today from 6 to 10 p.m. at Rose Neith Funeral Home in Mansfield, with the funeral service tomorrow at 10 a.m. in the chapel. Burial will follow in the Benson Cemetery.

Clemon Louise Laird Griffith

(Died Jan. 5, 2000)

FRANKLINTON - The funeral service for Clemon Louise Laird Griffith, 89, a resident of Plainview, will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow in the Brown-McGehee Funeral Home chapel. The Rev. Gary Snyder and the Rev. Charles "Sonny" Griffith, will officiate, with burial following in the Plainview Baptist Church cemetery, Visitation will be today from 4-10 p.m. at the funeral home, continuing after 8 a.m. tomorrow until time for the final service. Mrs. Griffith died early yesterday in Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Franklinton.

A member of Plainview Baptist Church, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Curtis Griffith; a daughter, Shirley Jones; three grandchildren; her parents, Lee and Alice Laird; and a brother, Victor Lee Laird.

She is survived by two sons, the Rev. Charles "Sonny" Griffith, Saraland, AL and Rodney E. Griffith, Bogalusa; three daughters, Helen Edwards and Virginia Adams, both of Bogalusa and Beverly Hall of Ripley, WV; 20 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Ruby Seals Forbes

(Died Jan. 5, 2000)

ANGIE - Ruby Seals Forbes, 70, died yesterday at her residence in the Hilltop Community. She was a member of the Hilltop Missionary Baptist Church and a retired employee at the Angie Junior High School Cafeteria.

She is survived by her husband, Harold Forbes, Hilltop; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Leroy Forbes, Ricky and Annette Forbes, all of Hilltop and Lavon Forbes, Bogalusa; two daughters and a son-in-law, Lois and Chuck Bailey, Denham Springs, and Janice Forbes, Chauvin, LA; two step-sons, Harold Forbes Jr. and Roger Forbes both of Carriere, MS; two brothers, Leonard Seals and Clifford Seals of Hilltop; two sisters, Evie Ard and Bessie Ree Ard, both of Hilltop; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Athalee Tynes.

Visitation will be today from 5-10 p.m. at Crain Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow at the Hilltop Missionary Baptist Church, with Eld. Duane Ball and Eld. Clyde Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Less Dillon

(Died Jan. 3, 2000)

BOGALUSA - The funeral service for Less Dillon, 69, a resident of Bogalusa, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Brown's Temple Church of God AOH, with the Rev. Henry Traylor officiating.

Burial will follow in the Bogalusa Cemetery.

Visitation will be tomorrow from 2-6 p.m. at Cook-Richmond Funeral Home, with a family hour will be from 6-7 p.m.

He died Monday in Tulane Medical Center, New Orleans.

He was preceded in death by his parents, R.T. and Neely Dillon; three sisters, Johnnie Mae Harry, Leslie (Liz) Dillon, Shelby Hatchet; and two brothers, Jessie Dillon Sr. and Pete Bell.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Hughes Dillon; five daughters, Willene Brown, Sandy Hook, Terri Dillon (Gregory) Mangrum, Bogalusa, M-Tisha and Delissa Dillon, Bogalusa, Fannie Buckley, 29 Palms, CA; five sons, Dwayne Dillon Sr., Oakland, CA, James (Swazetta) Buckley, Ronald (Myesha) Hughes, Carlos and Less Dillon Jr., Bogalusa; two sisters, Ottie Mae Pittman, Sandy Hook, MS and Maxine Fisher, Hackley; 20 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and a very supportive Church family.
