Kathy Jo Clark

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Kathy Jo Clark. On April 14, 2008 she lost her battle to cancer.

She leaves behind her mother, Addie; brother, Charles; sister, Lydia; her son, Mike, daughter in law, Nan and only grandchild, Brianna.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 18, 2008 at the Brushy Creek Baptist Church of Bancroft, LA from 5:00PM – 8:00PM.

Services will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 12:00 PM at Brushy Creek Baptist Church. We will have a life celebration gathering after the service in the church friendship hall. Pastor Martin will provide services.

For all the animals mom saved, in lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to: DeRidder Humane Society of West Louisiana , P. O. Box 1751, DeRidder, LA 70634.

Ludy R. Bruner

Funeral services for Ludy R. Bruner, who departed this life on April 3, 2008, will be held Saturday, April 12, 2008 at 12:00PM at Starlight Baptist Church in DeRidder, Louisiana . Visitation will be Saturday, April 12, 2008 from 9:00 am until time of service. Burial will be at Beauregard Cemetery.
Mrs. Bruner was born in Bancroft, Louisiana and lived in DeRidder for all of her adult life. She was a member of Starlight Baptist Church.
Mrs. Bruner leaves to cherish her memory: Son: Jacob Bruner, Jr. and spouse Kathy of DeRidder. 2 Brothers: C. A. Spikes of DeRidder, LA and Enral Bettis of California. Sister: Lillie B. Lofton of DeRidder, LA.
2 Grandchildren: Wajenna Adkins and spouse Yusef of Baton Rouge, LA and Poindexter Bruner of Ville Platte, LA. 4 Step-Grandchildren: Byron Nash; Shadrick Nash; Corey Nash all of DeRidder, LA and Trea Trapp of Grambling State University.
She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and cousins who will miss her dearly.

She was a loving and caring mother who fought a courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral Services for Lorene W. Spikes, who departed this life on May 29, 2008, will be held Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at 11:00 am at Norris Memorial Church of God in Christ in DeRidder. Officiating will be Elder Otha Green and Rev. Wilfert Williams. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 3, 2008 from 5:00 – 9:00 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Burial will be at Spikes-Bancroft Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Myers Colonial Funeral Home of DeRidder.

Helen Ruth Walker of DeRidder, LA; Shirley (Jimmy) Childs of Bancroft, LA; Shewanna Mattox of Lake Charles, LA.

Brothers: Archie Lee Williams of Sacramento, CA; Rev. Wilfret Williams of Bancroft, LA; Roosevelt Williams of Singer, LA; Charles Williams of DeRidder, LA; John Williams of Perris, CA; Leroy Williams of Sacramento, CA; Leo Williams of Sacramento, CA; James Williams of DeRidder, LA.

Sisters: Florine Ashworth of DeRidder, LA; Blanche Smith of Seaside, CA; Ocie Williams of DeRidder, LA and Margie Flagg of Los Angeles, CA. 22 Grandchildren, 23 Great-Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester “Pappy” Spikes; parents: Archie and Collie Williams; a daughter, Bessie Jenkins and son James Ivy Spikes. She was the mother of Morning Star C. O. G. I. C. She was a dedicated mother to all of her children and a mother to many other children. Mrs. Spikes was employed at Hyatt High School for many years as a cafeteria technician. She assisted in her community with those with special needs. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Oren Buck Myers

Oren Buck Myers, 53, of DeRidder, Passed away Thursday, May 29, 2008 at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, Louisiana .

Visitation will be Sunday, June 1, 2008 from 4pm to 9pm at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 2, 2008 at 11am at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder. Reverend Lyndon Longoria will officiate. Burial will be held at Good Hope Cemetery in Singer, Louisiana . He is survived by his wife Laura Myers of DeRidder. Two sons, Weslon Myers and Clayton Myers both of DeRidder. Three sisters, Joette & Richard Head of Merryville, LA; Liz & Wayne Wadkins of DeRidder and Lisa & Jerry Holman of Brookeland, TX. He is also survived by his Father: Ora “Joe” Myers of DeRidder, Father-in-Law: Freddie Dominguez of Rio Rancho, New Mexico and Mother-in- Law: Juanita Dominguez of Rio Rancho, New Mexico.

He was preceded in death by his Mother, Lera Doyle Myers and two brother –in-laws, Freddie Dominguez, Jr. and SSG James Frear.

Arrangements for Clarence St. Romain, Jr., 79, who departed this life on Tuesday, May 20, 2008 are as follows:
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2008 beginning at 8:00 am until 10:00 am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in DeRidder, Louisiana . A rosary for Mr. St. Romain will be held at 10:00 am. The service will begin at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Beauregard Cemetery. Father Danny Torres will officiate.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 from 6:00 - 9:00 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA and will continue on Thursday, May 15, 2008 at 9:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am at the First United Pentecostal Church in DeRidder, LA.

Ima G. Cryer, 78, passed from this life on May 9, 2008 in the Beauregard Memorial Hospital in DeRidder, LA.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 16, 2008 from 6:00 until 9:00 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 2:00 PM. Burial will be in Cooper Cemetery.

Survivors included a brother; James Edward Cryer and spouse, Gayle Cornerford Cryer of McKinney, Texas and numerous cousins.

Mr. Jones, 60, passed from this life on Sunday, May 4, 2008.

Johnnie McClain, 58, of DeRidder Passed away June 24, 2008 at his residence. Memorial Services will be held at a later date.

Laurel Toland

Laurel Toland, 48 of DeRidder, Louisiana Passed away on June 21, 2008 in the Beauregard Memorial Hospital. Memorial Services will be held at a later date.

Johnnie Worthen

On June 6, 2008, Johnnie Thomas Worthen, 92, of DeRidder, passed from this life.

Mr. Worthen was born in Glenmora, Louisiana on July 4, 1915 to the union of Ruben Worthen and Jimmie Ann Miller. He lived most of his life in the DeRidder area. He worked as a truck driver for Kite Brothers RV, where he retired after 30 years of loyal service. He was also very proud to serve as a deputy sheriff officer for the Beauregard Parish Sheriffs office, where he was the first African American deputy.

He leaves to mourn his passing, the children from his union to, Gerttie W. William: Superintendent Johnnie Worthen (Helen) of Cleveland, Texas and Minister Larry Johnson of Chicago, Illinois. The children from his union to, Shirley Jones: Fran Worthen, Bernard Worthen, Greta Worthen and June Marie Worthen all of Chicago, Illinois. The children from his union to, Jewel Crosby West: El Nora Silas of DeRidder; Carolin Collier of Lake Charles; Faye West of DeRidder; Thomas Lee Worthen (Mary) of DeRidder; Elder Daniel Worthen (Jacqueline Renee) of DeRidder; Paul Worthen of Baton Rouge and Mary Cris (LaShay) of San Antonio, Texas . The children from his union to Early Mae Worthen: Tangie Faye Jones (Lawrence) of Albany, Georgia; Johnnie Thomas Worthen, Jr. of DeRidder; Mary Worthen - Alfred (Mark) of Arlington, Texas ; Evonne Marie Worthen of Opelousas, Louisiana and Ruby Jackson (Wayne) of DeRidder.

He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Mr. Worthen was preceded in death by Shirley Jones, Jewel Crosby West, Early Mae Denmond Worthen; 3 children, Jimann Worthen, Larry Worthen and Micheal Worthen; his parents, brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held from 9am until service time Thursday, June 12, 2008 at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 12, 2008 at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder. Elder James Piper will officiate. Burial services will be held at Community Cemetery in DeRidder.

Lucille Elizabeth Glass Barnhill

Mrs. Lucille Barnhill, 82, of DeRidder, Passed away Thursday, June 5, 2008 at a local hospital. Visitation will be held at the First United Pentecostal Church of DeRidder from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Sunday, June 8, 2008 and from 10:00 am until service time on Monday, June 9, 2008 also at the church. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, June 9, 2008 at the First United Pentecostal Church of DeRidder. The Reverends Zale Lewis and Charles E. Glass will officiate. Burial services will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in DeRidder.
Mrs. Barnhill is survived by her husband, Larry Armstrong Barnhill of DeRidder; one daughter, Elizabeth Ann Cernero and husband, Joseph Thomas Cernero of Sherman, Texas ; Two Grandsons, Joseph Ryan Cernero and wife Carrie Ann of Sherman Texas and Aaron Lawrence Cernero and wife Ailee Marie also of Sherman, Texas and 5 great grandchildren: Joseph Blume Cernero, Oliver Armstrong Cernero, Josephine Elizabeth Cernero, Sophia Maria Cernero and Allie Jane Cernero. She is also survived by 3 brothers, Rev. Charles E. Glass and wife, Mary Jo of Sherman, Texas , Rev. Arless Glass and wife, Joan of Pasadena, Texas and Medford Glass and wife, Sis of DeRidder and one Sister-in-Law, Mollie Glass of Pasadena, Texas .

Kei - Day Moore, infant daughter of Roderick Moore and Linda Watson, Passed away on June 4, 2008 in DeRidder. Funeral services for Kei - Day will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 7, 2008 at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder. The Rev. Alvin Peters will officiate. Burial will be held at Spikes Cemetery in Bancroft, Louisiana .

Giselle "Mitzi" Watson

Giselle “Mitzi” Watson, 50, of Merryville was born on July 12, 1958 in DeRidder, Louisiana and Passed away, July 31, 2008 at 4:30 am at Byrd Hospital in Leesville, Louisiana .

A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, on Sunday, August 3, 2008 at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until service time. Burial services will be held at Merryville Cemetery at a later date.

Mitzi is survived by her parents: Mr. & Mrs. Jim & Wilma Brown of Merryville, Louisiana ; Two Sons: Cory Heath Watson & Wife Courtney Michelle of Merryville, Louisiana and Lukas Mark Lisenby & wife Carrie Michelle of Lake Arthur, Louisiana ; Two grandsons, Brayden Lisenby & Blayne Lisenby of Lake Authur, Louisiana ; One granddaughter, Cailey Belle Watson of Merryville, Louisiana ; Two Brothers, Gene and wife Linda Shrout of Merryville, Louisiana & Edward Allen Shrout of Merryville, Louisiana and two special nephews, Ethan & Newly Shrout of Merryville, Louisiana . She is also survived by a dear friend, Lettie Wilson of Mt. Whitney, Texas and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Mitzi was preceded in death by her grandparents, Edward “Pete” and Anna Belle Myers of Merryville, Louisiana .

Rudolph I. McClenton, 68 of DeRidder, Louisiana departed this life on Friday, July 25, 2008 in Lake Charles, Louisiana .

He was loved and respected by all. He did well in school and graduated from Vasshon High School in 1956 at the age of 17 and joined the army to serve his country. He retired from the military as a staff sergeant.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Cindy Passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2008 in the Merryville Nursing Center at the age of 39.

Ruby Tilley Passed away on Sunday, July 20, 20008 at her residence in DeQuincy.

Jerry Lee Lewis

Jerry Lee Lewis, 47, of DeRidder, Louisiana departed this life on July 18, 2008 at his residence. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am on Friday, July 25, 2008 at Myers Colonial Funeral Home of DeRidder, LA. Burial will be in Community Cemetery of DeRidder. Rev. Paul Holmes will officiate.

Jerry graduated from DeRidder High School and was employed in the maintenance field for many years. Jerry loved basketball and his favorite team was the Boston Celtics.

He is survived by his daughter: Tanisha Dancer; brothers: Roosevelt Dotson; Allen Dotson; Johnell Dotson and Edward Lewis; sister: Julia Greening.
