James Wilson
A memorial service for Mr. James Leroy Wilson, 76, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, at Koran Post of the American Legion. After which, he will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington , D.C.
"Pop" Passed away after a massive heart attack on Thanksgiving morning.
He left behind a bunch of bills and hungry dogs. He had a bunch of kids and a passel of grand-younguns'.
We will all miss him in our own way.

Redrick Fogle Sr.
A memorial service for Mr. Redrick Berton Fogle Sr. will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, at Emerson Unitarian Church, located at 1900 Bering Drive in Houston, Texas .
Mr. Fogle Passed away Thursday, Nov. 25, after a brief illness. Born on Jan. 28, 1914 in Shreveport, he attended Minden High School and graduated from there in 1930. While growing up in Minden, he was active in the Boy Scouts and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated from Louisiana Polytechnic Institute in 1935 with a bachelor of arts degree.
In 1936, he married Ruth Murphy, and in 1940, they moved to Baton Rouge where he was an active member of the Downtown Kiwanis Club and the Baton Rouge Chamber of Commerce. He was president of the Baton Rouge Sales Executive Club and a founding member of Baton Rouge Unitarian Church. During World War II, he was an officer in the U.S. Navy, in the Pacific, and was among the Amphibious Forces taking part in the invasion of Okinawa.
In 1960, he moved his family to Houston to manage Brown-Fogle Equipment, Co., a construction equipment dealership, which he later purchased and changed the name to Fogle Equipment Co. His wife, Ruth, Passed away in 1978, and he later married her sister, Georgine. Over his long career in Houston, he served in many various roles with the Houston Chamber of Commerce, the Associated Equipment Distributors and Emerson Unitarian Church, where he was an active member, serving as president of the board and chairman of the building committee, when they built their new sanctuary.
Retired from business, he and Georgine moved back to Baton Rouge in 1990, where they lived until August of this year, when Redrick moved back to Texas to live with family in Trinity.
He is survived by his sister, Francis L. Fogle of Dallas, Texas ; his wife, Georgine; his oldest son, Redrick B. Fogle Jr. and wife Linda; his son, William G. Fogle and wife Connie; grandchildren, Redrick B. Fogle III, Gordon Bennett Fogle, James Alan Fogle, George Carlton Fogle, Ruth Elizabeth Fogle Sparks, Rebecca Elaine Fogle Warriner, William Gordon Fogle Jr.; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Jeffrey L. McDay
Funeral services for Elder Jeffrey L. McDay, 45, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, at the Fourteenth District Building with Elder Douglas Allums officiating. interment will follow at Carver Cemetery in Shreveport under the direction of Kennon's Mortuary.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Dec. 1 at Kennon's Mortuary Chapel with family hour from 7 until 8 p.m. at Longspring Church of God in Christ.
Elder McDay was born Jan. 13, 1959, to the late Frank McDay and Arlena Rowe McDay. He departed this life to be with the Lord on Nov. 26, in Minden.
Elder Jeffrey L. McDay was the very faithful pastor of the Longspring Church of God in Christ.
He leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Arlena Rowe McDay of Minden; four brothers, Douglas Allums and wife Chrissie of Dayton, Ohio, Darryl McDay, Orlando McDay and wife Kathryn, and Clarence Rodney, all of Shreveport; one sister, Cheryl Moore and husband Rodney of Lewisville, Texas ; and a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends; and the Longspring Church of God in Christ family.

Daisy Shine
Funeral services for Mrs. Daisy M. Shine will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Minden. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Minden under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
Family hour will be held from 6 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Joseph Blair
Funeral services for Mr. Joseph Richard "Joe" Blair, 66, were to be held at 10 a.m. today, Nov. 29, 2004, at Old Sarepta Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Woolley and the Rev. Don McCormick officiating. Burial was to follow at Old Sarepta Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Mortuary in Springhill.
Mr. Blair, a native of St. Louis, Mo., and a resident of Sarepta for 37 years, Passed away Friday, Nov. 26, in Bossier City after a sudden illness. He was a member of Old Sarepta Baptist Church and was a retired heavy equipment operator with the Webster Parish Police Jury with 20 years of service. He was employed with International Paper Company for six years; was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served in the Reserves for 15 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Hester Walling Blair; brother, James Blair and sister, Fran Blair Cronley.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Brenda Cross Blair; daughter, Karen Blair Taylor and husband Leland; granddaughters, Emily Taylor and Katie Taylor , all of Sarepta; six sisters, Elaine James of Vienna, Mo., Shirley Mertz, Theresa Mullins, Judy Blair and Joanne Blair, all of St. Louis, Mo., Christine Blair of Gulfport, Miss.; three brothers, Charlie Blair, Steve Blair, and Preston Blair, all of St. Louis; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were to be Jason Timmons, Kevin Seiple, Daniel Thomas, Keith Odom, Jimmy Brown, Preston Wright, Jim Mullins and Frank Blair. Honorary pallbearers were to be Tommy Boswell, Jackie Allen, Joe Bob Black, Don Fuller and Delbert Fuller, and Roger Schumacher.

R.G. Ethridge
Funeral services for Mr. R.G. Ethridge, 90, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, at Bailey Funeral Home in Springhill with the Rev. Rosalyn Brown, Dr. C.D. Miles and the Rev. Evell Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery.
Mr. Ethridge, a longtime resident of Shongaloo and Leton, Passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, Nov. 27. He was born Aug. 20, 1914 in Shongaloo, being the youngest of 13 children of William Henry and Nanny Jackson Ethridge.
He was a member of Faith Church of God in Shreveport. He was one who loved his Lord, wife and family. He filled in as a lay minister on many occasions. Music was a big part of his life. He and Ray McCann traveled many states entertaining numerous audiences in his early hears.
He had several bands, Sons of the Delta, Arizona Play Boys and the Rambling Swingster, to name a few. He was on many radio stations in the 1930s, KWKH in Shreveport, KMLB in Monroe and KFOR in Hattiesburg, Miss. For 20 years, he and James Scott entertained for the nursing home in Haynesville. He was a big influence on his nephews and great-nephews, Grammy award winner, Willard Cox and the Cox Family, the Rev. Evell Davis, Tom and Pat McCann, all with many albums to their credit.
He was a retired grocery store owner and dairy farmer.
He leaves behind countless friends who were supportive with their love, encouragement and prayers for him and his family. The family would like to thank the wonderful people at Northwest Hospice and Home Health for their helpful support and care.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Mae Ethridge; son, Marvin Ethridge and wife Tommie Ann of Houston, Texas ; daughter, Dorothy Daniels and husband Gary of Leton; and special nephew, Gary Grillett, whom he raised; seven grandchildren, Becky, Robert, Gina, Todd, Scott, Amy and Brent; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Gary Grillett, Samuel Grillett, W.C. McCann, Leon Ethredge, Doc Ethredge, and Jerry McCann. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray McCann, Cartie Campbell and James Scott.
In lieu of flowers, the donor may make donations to Faith Church of God, 7701 St. Vincent, Shreveport, LA 71106, or First Church of God, 101 Morris Circle, Homer LA 71040.

Lillie Mae Garner
Funeral services for Mrs. Lillie Mae Garner, 77, were to be held at 10 a.m. today, Nov. 29, 2004, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Arcadia with the Rev. Ray Spillers and Dr. Wayne A. Evans officiating. Burial was to follow at Mt. Mariah Cemetery in Arcadia.
Mrs. Garner, a resident of Athens, Passed away Friday, Nov. 26, in Minden following a brief illness. She was born June 20, 1927 in Haynesville to Willie Robert and Mary Leona Jordan James. She retired from the Louisiana Army Ammunition Plant in Minden with 40 years of service. She was a member of Mt. Mariah Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry C. Garner; parents; one son, Calvin Ray "Buster" Garner; one daughter, Mary Louise Holder; one brother, Arthur Merle "Preacher" James; and one sister, Florence Rebecca Yarbrough.
She is survived by one daughter, Betty Virginia Purdy and husband Charles of Minden; two sisters, Edna Gantt of Minden, and Norvis Burton and husband Guy of St. Amant; sister-in-law, Margaret James of Arcadia; two brothers, Willie "Billy" James and wife, Jackie of Arcaida, and Hubie "Dick" James of Athens; three grandchildren, Joey Purdy and wife Jennifer and Jamey Purdy, all of Minden, and Celeste Mazarakes and husband Mike of Nacogdoches, Texas ; one great-granddaughter, Ashley Nicole Mazarakes; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be her nephews, Clanton Gantt, Danny Lee, Mark Burton, Mickey Rickels, Rick Blunschi, Max James, Larry James, Doug Futch, Mike James, Andy Miller, Jim Rocconi and Earl Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons, Joey Purdy, Jamey Purdy and Mike Mazarakes.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Mariah Methodist Church.

Clara Holt
Graveside services for Mrs. Clara McDonald Holt, 93, were to be held at 11 a.m. today, Nov. 29, 2004, at Walnut Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Services were under the direction of McGuire Funeral Home in Vivian.
Mrs. Holt Passed away Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 25, at 7 .m. at Ferncrest Manor on New Orleans. She was born on July 1, 1911 in Bivins, Texas . She was the last surviving child or spouse of the many children of her parents, Eliza and Charlie G. McDonald of Bivins. She lived on Byrd Street in Vivian and was a member of Walnut Hill Baptist Church until Mr. Holt transferred to Brownsville, Texas , when the Stanolind Refinery closed in 1955. They were later transferred to Alvin, Texas , where her husband Passed away in 1958. Mrs. Holt and her teenage daughter, Linda, moved to be near her son, Don, in Minden, where she bought and ran a music store, Don's Record Stoppe, until her retirement. Since retirement, she has lived in Minden, Tuscaloosa, Ala., and New Orleans.
She was preceded in death by one infant child, Edward Charles; and her husband Ernest Carl Holt.
She is survived by her son, Don Holt and wife Lynda Ann of Tuscaloosa; daughter, Linda and husband James Moorehead of New Orleans; grandchildren, Donna Jo Wise of Tuscaloosa, Karren Potter of Pittsburgh, Pa., Gary Holt and Mark Holt of Tuscaloosa, Lisa Campbell of Tuscaloosa, Michael Moorehead of Rockvill, Md., and Tara Moorehead of Duluth, Ga.; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Carl LeCroy
Funeral services for Mr. Carl Doyle LeCroy, 93, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, at Bailey Mortuary Funeral Home in Springhill with Dr. Ron Harvey officiating. Burial will follow at Springhill Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at 6 p.m. today, Nov. 29, at the funeral home.
Mr. LeCroy, a native of Durante, Okla., and a longtime resident of Springhill, Passed away Sunday, Nov. 28, in Bossier City after a long illness. He was a member of Central Baptist Church and was a retired timber contractor.
He was rpeceded in death by his wife, Mary Canaday LeCroy on Dec. 22, 1994; his parents, Clinton C. and Carrie McDonald LeCroy; three brothers and one sister.
He is survived by sons, George Lecroy of Houston, Texas ; Doyle LeCroy of Bossier City; granddaughter, Debbie Beaver and husband Randy of Springhill; grandson, Cody LeCroy and great-granddaughters, Chloe and Gillian Beaver.
Pallbearers will be George Ray Smith, Anthony Manuel, Clary Anthony, Gary Don Tyler, Robert Garland and Lindy Green.

Gary Mathews
Funeral services for Mr. Millard Gary Mathews, 67, were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, at Eastside Missionary Baptist Church in Minden with the Rev. Richard Methvin officiating and the Rev. Micah Carter assisting. Burial followed at Gardens of Memory Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Mr. Mathews, a resident of Minden, Passed away Wednesday, Nov. 24, in Minden. He was a boiler technician for Inland Container.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Millard and Vera Mathews.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby W. Mathews of Minden; son, Gary Don Mathews and wife Betsy of Minden; daughters, Karen Greer and husband Kenneth of Minden, and Kayla Gorham and husband Stephen of Minden; sisters, Nancy Calhoun and husband James of Minden, Gayle Crowell and husband Bob of Mexia, Texas ; mother-in-law, Ruby Anderson; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Terry Gray, Tim Greer, Randal McGraw, Bill Chelette, Jamie Walker and Tom Shirey.

Mavin Oliver
Graveside services for Mr. Mavin E. Oliver, 94, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004, at Means Cemetery in Hampton, Ark., with Rick Caldwell officiating. Services were under the direction of Proctor Funeral Home in Camden, Ark.
Mr. Oliver, a resident of Louann, Ark., Passed away Saturday, Nov. 27, in Camden. He was born April 2, 1910 in Hampton. He was proud of all his days on this earth and will be remembered as a generous, friendly and hospitable fellow who always had a twinkle in his eye and a mess of garden vegetables to send home with you. He had a profound love and respect for his family and friends, worked hard all of his life and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Oliver Kemp and husband Tommy of Minden; daughter-in-law, JoAnn Cox Oliver of Oklahoma City, Okla; grandchildren, Max E. Oliver Jr. of Battiest, Okla., Ruth Ann Houston of Tomball, Texas , Rebecca Carey of Little Rock, Ark., and Robin Carey of Round Rock, Texas ; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Jerry Delano
Funeral services for Mr. Jerry K. Delano, 77, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, at Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. Danny Warbington officiating. Burial will follow at Antioch Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. today, Nov. 26, at the funeral home.
Mr. Delano, a native of El Dorado, Ark., and a resident of the Minden area for more than 30 years, Passed away Tuesday, Nov. 23, in Shreveport. He retired from the U.S. Army on Oct. 1, 1966 with 21 years of service. He retired from the Louisiana Ordinance Plant in 1983. He was the owner and operator of Delano Locksmith in Minden for more than 15 years. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh E. and Lillian O. Delano; sons, Kenneth W. Delano and Gary E. Delano; sister, Billie Jean Carter; and brother, Hugh Delano Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sharon Myers Delano; son, Michael Delano of Sibley; and grandchildren, Michael J. Delano, Jeffrey A. Delano, and Allison R. Delano.
Pallbearers will be Michael Delano, Jeffrey Delano, Mike Webber, Joe Tharpe, Randy Dollar and Scott Byrd. Honorary pallbearers will be Homer Jones and Larry Milford.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Millard G. Mathews
Funeral services for Mr. Millard Gary Mathews, 67, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, at Eastside Missionary Baptist Church in Minden with the Rev. Juanita Pratt
Funeral services for Mrs. Juanita Palmer Pratt were to be held at 11:30 a.m. today, Nov. 26, 2004, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Gerald Palmer of Rowlett, Texas , officiating. Burial was to follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Minden.
Visitation was to be held at 10 a.m. until time of services today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Pratt, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, Passed away Tuesday, Nov. 23, in Dallas, Texas , after a brief illness. She was born Aug. 5, 1926.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, John C. and Falera Elizabeth David Palmer' little brother, J.C. Palmer Jr.; and four sisters, Lera Etta Palmer Morris, Mary L. Palmer Hutchins, Inez W. Palmer Wilson and Margie Geneva Palmer.
She is survived by her three sons, Willard Palmer Pratt, Russell Glenn Pratt, and Johnny Clifford Pratt; one sister, Janie Palmer Dobbins and two beloved brothers-in-law, Louis R. Wilson and Grover L. Dobbins; seven nieces; three nephews; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a number of great-nieces and great-nephews.
