Joy Green
Funeral services for Mrs. Joy Lee Quarles Green were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 12, 2005, at Northwest 14th District Building in Minden. Burial followed at Allen Cemetery in Minden under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
Mrs. Green was the daughter of Emma Quarles and the late Bennie Quarles. She Passed away Saturday, March 5. She taught school as a language arts instructor for 30 years at Ringgold High School, located in Bienville Parish.
She is survived by her mother, Emma Quarles; three daughters, Tara Green Jones, Tiffany Green and Anesha Green; two grandchildren, Melika and Melvin Jones Jr.; two sisters, Jewelyn Quarles Abner, and Lenita Quarles Marsh; two brothers, Yul Quarles and Benjamin Quarles; one uncle; aunts; nieces; nephews; cousins and friends.

Addie Harvey
Graveside services for Mrs. Addie B. Harvey were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2005, at Hope Well Cemetery in Dubberly. Services were under the direction of Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
She was born Sept. 24, 1938 in Minden to the late Milton and Carrie Morgan. She joined Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at an early age and was a faithful member of the church in Dubberly. She later joined St. Rest Baptist Church in Minden, where she remained faithful until her health began to fail her. She was a dedicated member of the choir, Missionary Society, Sunday School department and director of the Baptist Training Union.
She is a graduate of Webster High School, class of 1957. She is also a graduate of Tyler Barber College in Tyler, Texas . She is a retiree of the Webster Parish School Board where she served as a school bus operator. She was the owner and operator of Harvey's Barber Shop.
She was married to the late Joe Roosevelt Harvey, whose hand she accepted in marriage in 1959. To this union, two sons were born, Eric Ridell Harvey and Darron Keith Harvey.

Charles Frost
Funeral services for Mr. Charles "Charlie" Howard Frost will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2005, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Born in Hope, Ark., June 7, 1949, Mr. Frost Passed away Saturday, March 5, in Fredericksburg, Texas , the result of a vehicle accident. Charlie was a professional and correctional farrier for 30 years, a trade he loved dearly. His strong, but gentle nature could calm any horse he worked with.
He grew up in Dubberly, received an honorable discharge from the United States Army in December 1968, and then moved to the Dallas, Texas , area and started his family. He later moved to the Hill Country in Fredericksburg. Charlie was at his best in the outdoors, hunting, fishing, watching deer feed in his yard and playing with his beloved granddaughter in his garden. He never met a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his father, Johnnie Frost and mother, Amy Sumner Frost.
He is survived by his daughter, Charlotte "Charlie" Maynard and husband Forrest; granddaughter, Karly Savannah Maynard; siblings, Thomas E. Frost of Dubberly, Lonnie and Cindy Frost of Parker, Texas , Rosemary and Curtis Anderson of Fountain Hills, Ariz., Jack "Buddy" and Nicole Frost of Tarzana, Calif., Danny and Kathy Frost of Peachtree City, Ga., Amy and Jerry Ray of Dubberly, and Robert "Hookie" Frost of Dubberly; numerous nieces, nephews and family members. The family, and especially his daughter, wish to thank Elisa Kay, his significant other and companion. She was his rock during the recent hard times. Charlie leaves behind countless friends he met through work and his life's travels.
Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Coalition for Pulmonary Fibrosis at www.coalitionforpf.com or the organization of the donor's choice.

Nicklas Hedrick
Funeral services for Mr. Nicklas "Nicky" Hedrick will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 11, 2005, at Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Fryeburg. Burial will follow at Old Ramah Cemetery in Ashland under the direction of Rockett Funeral Home in Ringgold.
Visitation will be held at 5 p.m. today, March 10, and Friday, March 11, at the funeral home.
Mr. Hedrick was born Aug. 16, 1943, in Ashland to Cedric and Marguerite Hedrick. He Passed away Tuesday, March 8, after a relatively short battle with cancer. He touched many lives, young and old, during his time on earth and was the best neighbor and friend to many. Nicky loved his whole family, but not as much as they loved him. To them, he was the best thing in the world. He had five grandchildren that were the light of his life, and in their eyes, he did no wrong.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Judy; children, Sheila and Steve Anderson of Minden, Keith and Katina Hedrick of Marion, Ark., and Chris and Nicole Hedrick of Heflin; brothers and sisters, MeCeil and Fred Sullivan of Ashland, O'Dean and John Perry "Poss" Bamburg of Martin, Barbara Hedrick Poindexter of Bienville, Larry and Donna Hedrick of Heflin, Lane and Sharon Hedrick of Cotton Valley; his special sister-in-law, Cindy Rae Choate and friend Ron Green of Phoenix, Ariz.; his grandchildren, Daniel Anderson, 18; Hunter Anderson, 15; Kallie Hedrick, 14; Tyler Hedrick, 8; and Caden Hedrick, 4; 22 nieces and nephews; numerous great-nieces and nephews; cousins and friends.
All of his family helped take care of him and was with him until the end. Caden wants to remind everybody not to be sad because now "Peepaw" is in Heaven playing with Jesus.
"This morning, March 8, the most wonderful part of my life left this earth to be with the Lord," his wife said. "He was the best thing in my life; he was my husband, friend, lover and my provider. He has always treated me like I was the most special person in his life, even through the troubles we had, we still loved each other. I will always miss him and appreciate everything he did for me. My heart is totally broken today, but I prayed that God's will be done and that he didn't have to suffer long and God answered that prayer. I know that by relying on God's mercy I can survive. I love you my darling and I know you are happy and everything is well with you today."
Pallbearers will be Pat Burdine, Mike Langley, Danny Eason, Briley Joe Carter, Roger Pruitt, Dwayne Pyle, Adrienne Pyle and Pat Gros. Honorary pallbearers will be his five grandchildren; sons and sons-in-law, John Perry Bamburg, Fred Sullivan, George Tharpe, Jack Tharpe, Mike Joyner, Larry Jackson and Steve Calhoun.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Doris Jarrell
Funeral services for Mrs. Doris Eloise Jarrell, 93, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 11, 2005, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with the Rev. Bill Ichter officiating and the Rev. Ronnie Whitlock assisting. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. today, March 10, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Jarrell, a native of Dubberly and a resident of Minden for most of her life, Passed away Tuesday, March 8, in Minden. She was a member of First Baptist Church and owner and operator of Eloise's Beauty Shop and Beauty School for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Finis Jarrell; parents, Richard Franklin Bishop and Gertrude Alexander Bishop; three brothers; and one sister.
She is survived by her son, Richard Jarrell of Bienville Parish; daughter, Sara Jarrell of Minden; grandson, Zachary Ryan Jarrell of Plain Dealing; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

George Hall
Mr. George M. Hall was born June 25, 1917 in Elberton, Ga., and Passed away Saturday, March 5, 2005, at the age of 87 in Athens, Ga. He was the son of native Elbertonians, George James Hall and Lela Carlton Hall. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Elberton, where he was on the "cradle roll" and later ordained to the ministry of the gospel.
George served in the United States Army during World War II. He was stationed in Denver, Colo., when he met and married Donna Celeste Bonnett. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia in 1946, and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1951. He was the assistant pastor of Walnut Street Baptist Church and later became pastor of First Baptist Church in Middletown, Ky.; FBC Alexander City, Ala., FBC Homer; Valwood Park Baptist; Farmers Branch, Texas ; Lighthouse Baptist Church in North Palm Beach, Fla.; and Lexington Baptist Church in Lexington, Ga. He also served on the staff of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He retired from the full time ministry in his early 70s, but continued to serve part time and as interim pastor for several area churches.
George Hall was a man of faith. He was able to adapt to the inevitable changes of life with peace and contentment. He enjoyed being personally involved with people in the daily events of life and through his ministry. Many ministered to him. He found his roots in his deep love for his family, his community, and his God. George's interests were many and varied. He was committed to memorizing Scripture from a young age. This proved a great comfort to him and greatly blessed his ministry. He was a musician and an amazing storyteller. He also was a strong supporter of missions, both local and international.
He took great comfort in knowing that "while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." He joined many that went before him, including his wife of 52 years, and his son, George M.C. Hall.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Carlton H.C. Hall and Dr. Vicky Colvin Hall of Shreveport; daughter and son-in-law, Drs. Catherine L. Hall and Anthony R. Dal Nogare of Dallas, Texas , and Alisa Flanery of Athens; nine grandchildren, Carlton Hampton, Heather Hall Vescovo, Neil and Joe Hall, Cara, Claire and Lydia Dal Nogare, and Jay and Lela Flanery; and great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Teen Challenge Greater Athens, the Baptist World Alliance, or your local church music or missions programs.

Myrtis Hough
Funeral services for Mrs. Myrtis Jones Hough, 86, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden with Dr. Richard G. May officiating. Burial will follow at Gilgal Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 9 p.m. today, March 8, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Hough, a native of Magnolia and a resident of Minden, Passed away Monday, March 7, in Minden. She was a homemaker and a member of Gilgal Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Curtis Hough.
She is survived by her daughter, Jo Hough Westley and husband Douglas of Haughton; sisters, Venitta Williamson, Billie Avery and Bonnie Langley, all of Minden, and Marcilla Gobert of Shreveport; brother, John Calman Jones of Magnolia, Ark.; granddaughter, Tonya Shore and husband Terry; two great-grandchildren, Angel Nead and Brody Shore; and great-great-grandchild, Charisma Nead.

Jo Ann Viers
Graveside services for Mrs. Jo Ann Viers, 70, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at Madden Cemetery in Fryeburg. Services are under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. today, March 8, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Viers, a native of Houston, Texas , and a resident of Sibley, Passed away Monday, March 7, in Minden. She was a homemaker and a member of First Assembly of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas A. Viers.
She is survived by one son, Ronald G. Viers and wife Regina of Sibley; two daughters, Glenda Viers Knotts and husband Miron of Shreveport, and Vicki Reed and husband James of Sibley; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Mildred Modisett
Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred Haynes Modisett, 84, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at Old Shongaloo United Methodist Church with the Rev. Henry Stone officiating. Burial will follow at Old Shongaloo Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Mortuary in Springhill.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. today, March 7, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Modisett, a native and lifelong resident of this area, Passed away Sunday, March 6, at her residence after a long illness. She was a member of Old Shongaloo United Methodist Church, a homemaker, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Durell J. Modisett in 1997; her son, Donald Lane Modisett; her parents, Luther Drew and Gussie Mitchell Haynes; and her granddaughter, Teri Lynn Duke Cole.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nell Rose and Tommy Drake; son and daughter-in-law, Drayton D. and Jan Modisett, all of Shongaloo; brother, Hervis D. "Jabo" Haynes of Lake Erling, Ark.; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Gretchen Prince
Graveside services for Mrs. Gretchen Marquerite Coleman Prince, 87, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at M.C. and Nora Henry Memorial Cemetery in Heflin with the Rev. J. Roddy Taylor and the Rev. Carol Heard officiating. Services are under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Visitation was to be held from 9 until 11 a.m. today, March 7, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Prince, a native of Homer and a resident of Heflin, Passed away Saturday, March 5, in Shreveport. She was a retired daycare child sitter. She was also a member of First United Methodist Church in Minden.
She was preceded in death by her son, Ronald Prince Sr., and her grandson, Wade Stanfield.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Prince Stanfield of Heflin; sister, Janice Holtgrave of Sacramento, Calif.; brother, Ray Coleman of Delhi; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; a host of friends; and special cousins, Marjorie DeSordi and Elizabeth Parker.

Douglas Sale
Funeral services for Mr. Douglas "Doug" Sale, 62, were to be held at 10 a.m. today, March 7, 2005, at First Baptist Church in Minden with the Rev. Mike Benefield, the Rev. Roy Strother and the Rev. Danny Warbington officiating. Burial was to follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Mr. Sale, a native of Haynesville and a resident of Minden, Passed away Saturday, March 5, in Shreveport. He was the owner and operator of Sale Electric Co., and Sale Farm Equipment Co. He was also a Webster Parish Police Juryman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Peyton and Nobie Sale.
He is survived by his wife, Nona Watts Sale of Minden; son, Ronnie Sale of Minden; daughter, Kathy Sale Kirk and husband Gregg of Blackwell, Okla.; and brother, William P. Sale and wife Reba of Springhill.
Pallbearers were to be Johnny Herman, Larry Elkins, Tommy Addison, Marvin Jones, Joe Morgan, Jim Bonsall, Keith Dison and Jerome Vascocu. Honorary pallbearers were to be Richard Sanders, Don Smith, Stanley Sanders, Wayne Avery, Bill Frye, Charles Walker, Sammy Gorman and Sandy Perryman.

Joyce Shearer
Funeral services for Mrs. Joyce Elaine Shearer, 53, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at First United Pentecostal Church in Cotton Valley, with the Rev. Kenneth DeHart officiating. Burial will follow at Cotton Valley Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Mortuary in Cotton Valley.
Visitation will be held at 4 p.m. today, March 7, at the church.
Mrs. Shearer, a native of Marietta, Ga., and a resident of Cotton Valley for the last 16 years, Passed away Sunday, March 6, at her residence after a long illness. She was a former EMT with North West and Pafford Ambulance Service for eight years; was a member of the Cotton Valley Volunteer Fire Department and was a former security guard.
She was preceded in death by her son, Clark Steven Shearer, on June 24, 1998.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Lynn David Shearer; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Brenda Shearer of Piedmont, Okla., Brad and Rachel Shearer of Dover, Del., Allen and Gleena Shearer of Oklahoma City, Okla.; grandchildren, Timothy, Tracy, Andrew, Cody, Emily, Jessica, Bridget, Amy and Jacob; her father-in-law, L.D. Shearer of Oklahoma City; and her brother, Bradford Knight of Kansas City, Mo.

Ozzie V. Walker
Funeral services for Mrs. Ozzie V. Hodges Walker, 93, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at Bailey Mortuary in Springhill with the Rev. Ronald Morgan officiating. Burial will follow at Old Shongaloo Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at 5 p.m. today, March 7, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Walker, a native and lifelong resident of this area, Passed away Sunday, March 6, in Springhill after a long illness. She was a member of New Era United Methodist Church and was a homemaker. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hoyt Porter and Lee Anna Armour Hodges; and brothers, Ferrell S. Hodges, F.O. Hodges and J.T. Hodges.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 71 years, Bill Walker of Shongaloo; daughter and son-in-law, Shirley R. and George Raborn Tyler of Brandon, Miss.; granddaughter, Shana S. Goff and her husband Mike of Lancaster, S.C.; great-grandson, George Austin Tyler Lowe of Texarkana, Texas ; sister, Julia Jeanette Lee and husband Mont D. "Buck" Lee; sisters-in-law, Exie Hodges and Marie Hodges, all of Springhill.
Pallbearers will be James Lee, Larry Walker, Travis Walker, Waylon Duke, Jerry Hodges and James Don Mouser. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Hodges and Sammy Hodges.
