Loving mother

Services will be conducted for Marie "Verna" George, 81, at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Edward Catholic Church, with the Rev. Jaison George officiating.

Interment will be in the St. Edward Catholic Church cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. today, with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. The funeral home will reopen at 7:30 a.m. Monday and remain open until the time of services.

A resident of New Iberia, she died at 4:47 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.

She was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Patsy Singleton and her husband Bernard of New Iberia, and Katherine White and her husband Clayton of Lafayette, four brothers, Sosthene George, Morris George and Gilbert George Sr., all of New Iberia, and Roy Jacobs of St. Martinville, two sisters, Louise Narcisse of Lafayette and Shirley Rose Dominique of Broussard, one special aunt, Della George of Baton Rouge, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Steven Patin and Ashley Singleton of New Iberia, Kevin and Janet White of Lafayette, Elaine S. Brown of BatonRouge and Karen S. Leon of Cade, and 14 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robley George and Althea George, four brothers, Frank and Willie Jacob, and Nolton and Robley George Jr., two sisters, Lorena G. Jones and Hilda Rose George.

Pallbearers will be Steven Patin, Kevin White, Ashley Singleton, Ernest Brown, Joseph Leon, Nelson Jones and Joseph George Sr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Jacobs, Gilbert George Sr., Sosthene George, Morris George Sr., Leroy Jacobs, Thomas Jacobs, Bernard Singleton, Clayton White, Francis Jones Sr., Willie Jacobs, Randy Jacobs and Tracy Ozenne.

The Fletcher Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Albert Raymond Sr.

Devoted husband and father

Funeral services for Albert Raymond Sr., 71, will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Edward Catholic Church with the Rev. Jaison George officiating.

Interment will be in Holy Family cemetery on Curtis Lane.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. today, with a rosary at 8 p.m. at Journet and Bolden Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral home will reopen at 7:30 a.m. Monday.

A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, he died at 4:25 p.m. Tuesday at Dauterive Hospital after a lengthy illness.

He is survived by his wife, Josephine Raymond, five sons, Paul, Mark, Albert Jr., Joe and Peter Raymond and his wife Veronica Raymond, four brothers, Clarence, John, James and Robert Raymond Sr., three sisters, Florence Lewis, Anita Valsin and Mary Lee Raymond, and nine grandchildren. He also is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ovide and Anita Raymond, three brothers, Paul George, Junius and Edward Raymond and one sister, Selena R. Cormier.

Pallbearers will be members of his family.

The Journet and Bolden Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Wilbert Jones

JEANERETTE - Services are pending for Wilbert Jones, 68, who died today, Feb. 9, 2000, at his residence following a brief illness.

Marguerite P. Lognion

Devoted, loving wife, mother

ELLSWORTH - Services for Marguerite P. "Margaret" Lognion, 90, will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Leo James Michaud officiating. Interment will be in St. Edward's Catholic cemetery in New Iberia at a later date.

Visitation will be from 6:30-8 p.m. Friday with a 7 p.m. rosary at Jordan Funeral Home.

A native of Nunez and a resident Lamoine, Maine, Mrs. Lognion died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000, at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Lognion was born on Oct. 3, 1909. She was a devoted wife, mother and loving grandmother. She had a great love for people and especially enjoyed helping those in need. She brought much happiness to needy families by providing food, clothing, and in some cases, aiding parents with financial support to send their children to Catholic schools.

Mrs. Lognion was a resident of Louisiana for 85 years prior to moving to Lamoine, Maine, to live with her daughter and son-in-law in 1995. She was a devoted member of St. Edward's Catholic Church for 63 years. While there, she belonged to the Legion of Mary Society. Through her services of good will, she was awarded a certificate from her church for her donated time to the Altar Society for 18 years, which she proudly displayed for everyone to see. She had a strong love for God and the Blessed Mother.

Prior to Mrs. Lognion's death, she was a resident at Courtland Rehabilitation and Living Center. She enjoyed participating in most of the social activities, especially the spiritual services on Sundays and the sing-a-longs on Wednesdays and bingo. She was known by some of her friends and staff there as "Gram."

She is survived by her daughter, Ionia Lognion Heisser, and her husband, Errol, of Lamoine, Maine; her granddaughter, Cecily Marie Heisser of Tarzana, Calif.; her grandson, Michael Lynwood Heisser, and his wife, Sharon Teresa, of Denver; her sister, Ouida P. Huntsberry of Abbeville; and three generations of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Lognion was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Fred Lognion, who died in 1995; her parents, Fisher and Eloide David Petry; and 14 brothers and sisters.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Lognion's memory to the St. Joseph Catholic Church Capital Campaign Fund, 231 Main St., Ellsworth, ME.

Beatrice C. Myers

Loving wife and mother

JEANERETTE - Services for Beatrice "Bea" Champagne Myers, 71, will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with the Rev. Ed Degeyter officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-10 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at David Funeral Home, which will reopen Thursday from 8 a.m. until the time of services.

A native of Lake Dauterive and a resident of Jeanerette, Mrs. Myers died at 8:45 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette.

Mrs. Myers was a homemaker and a member of the Sacred Heart, Miraculous Metal and Sallesians Leagues.

She is survived by her husband, Alton Myers of Scott; two sons, Jackie Champagne of Jeanerette, and Ray Champagne of New Iberia; three daughters, Carol Bernard and Fay Maraist, both of St. Martinville, and Sandra Torres of Navasota, Texas; two brothers, Clarence and Lawrence Guidry, both of Morgan City; five sisters, Leedoll Doiron and Gladys Driskill, both of Berwick, Ruby Johnson of North Carolina, Carrie Stephens of Morgan City, and Donna Wisdom of Plaquemine; her grandchildren, Colby, Cassie, Cameron and Charlie Champagne, Scott and Amy Bernard, Patrick and Tammy Dugas, Tess Theriot Leon, Russ Theriot, Nicole, Brad and Matthew Maraist, and Laurie Champagne; and her great-grandchildren, Alex Bernard, McKinley and Justin Leon, and Miranda Dugas.

Mrs. Myers was preceded in death by her parents, Noah Guidry Sr. and Alida Latiolais Guidry; her brother, Noah Guidry Jr.; and her first husband, Shedrick Champagne.

Pallbearers will be Scott Bernard, Colby Champagne, Patrick Dugas, Brad and Mathew Maraist, and Russ Theriot.

Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Berard, James Bernard, William Leon, Steve Maraist and Ray Reyes.

Leona D. Shipley

BROUSSARD - Services for Mrs. Leonard Shipley, 78, the former Leona DeRush, will begin at 2 p.m. today at David Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park cemetery in Lafayette.

Visitation will be until the time of services today at the funeral home.

A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, and a resident of Lafayette, Mrs. Shipley died at 2:15 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, at her residence.

Delores R. Bonin

Loving mother and grandmother

LAFAYETTE - Services for Delores Bonin, 61, the former Delores Roy, will begin at 2 p.m. Friday at Delhomme Bertrand Chapel of the Flowers with the Rev. John DeLeeuw officiating. Interment will be in Fountain Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be until 10 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at the funeral home, which will reopen Friday from 8 a.m. until the time of services.

A native of Abbeville and a lifelong resident of Lafayette, Mrs. Bonin died at 5 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, at her residence.

She is survived by a close friend, Raymond Broussard of Lafayette; three sons, Heith Bonin, and his wife, Leslie, Travis Bonin, and Troy Bonin, and his fiancée, Jamie Richaud, all of Lafayette; one daughter, Vanessa Bonin of Lafayette; four grandchildren, Bryson Bonin, Johnette Cobb, and Jason and Jeremy Allen; four sisters, Anna Mae Romero of Butte La Rose, Vern Roy Bridges of Lafayette, Una Roy Trahan of Nunez, and Audrey Bourque of Erath; and one brother, Saul Roy Jr. of Gonzales.

Mrs. Bonin was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Bonin; her parents, Saul Roy and the former Anna Richard; two sisters, Mathilde Nunez and Rose Lazanna; and four brothers, Alton, Milton, Preston and Reno Roy.

Pallbearers will be Troy Bonin, Daniel Broussard, Fabien Bourque Jr., Alvin Trahan, and Kenneth and Wayne Roy.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bryson Bonin, Jason and Jeremy Allen, and Ross and Brent Johnson.

Joyce E. Summers

Nurse

BELLEVILLE, Ill. - Services for Joyce Summers, 59, the former Joyce Extrom, were held at 11 a.m. today at Pete Gaunter's Funeral Parlor. Interment was in Belleville, Illinois.

A native of Belleville, Ill., and a lifelong resident of Swansea, Ill., Mrs. Summers died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Ill., following a brief illness.

Mrs. Summers was a nurse for Southwestern Nursing Homebound Services.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Summers; her mother, Pauline Extrom; two sons, Grey Lee and Shaun; one brother, Ric Extrom; one sister, Judy Sandheinrich; and three grandsons.

Mrs. Summers was preceded in death by her father, Earl Extrom.

Marian Davis

Loving mother and grandmother

Services for Marian Davis, 85, will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at Fletcher Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Francis Davis officiating. Interment will be in St. Matthew cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday from 7 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.

A resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Davis died at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, at Dauterive Hospital following a brief illness.

Mrs. Davis was a member of Star Pilgrim Baptist Church, where she served for many years as secretary for the mission department and also a deaconess until her health failed.

She is survived by four sons, Vaughn Monroe Davis Sr., and his wife, Marcella, of New Iberia, Nolan Perry Davis, and his wife, Barbara, of Severn, Md., Eddie Dean Davis Sr., and his wife, Dianne, of Chicago, and Myron Dale Davis of New Iberia; three daughters, Marjorie D. Synigal, and her husband, Alfred Sr., of New Orleans, Laura Louise Davis, and her husband, Alfred Pearson, of Bellwood, Ill., and Marion Davis Osbey of Chicago; one sister, Beatrice Davis of Loreauville; her sister-in-law, Eunice (Tootsie) Adams of Beaumont, Texas; 30 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Lincoln Davis Sr.; her parents, Robert and Laura Smith Davis; two sons, Oswald and Earl Lincoln Davis Jr.; two daughters, Leotha D. Howard and Priscilla D. Hicks; and two sisters, Jenetha Davis and Lois Dickerson.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Dean Davis Sr., Nolan Perry Davis, Allen and Glenn Synigal, Vaughn Monroe Davis and Alfred Pearson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Myron Dale Davis, Anthony Synigal, Alfred Synigal Sr., Jeremy Davis, Carl and Edward Metz, Daniel Hicks, Alfred Synigal Sr. and Curtis Osbey Jr.

Ella M. Foreman

ERATH - Services are pending for Ella Mae Foreman, 74, who died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000, at Abbeville General Hospital.

Robert Frelow Jr.

Former mayoral aide

HOUSTON - Services for Robert Lee Frelow Jr., 34, were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at Brentwood Baptist Church with Dr. Joe Samuel Ratliff officiating. Interment was in Brookside Memorial Park cemetery.

Mr. Frelow had suffered a mild stroke in January. Two weeks ago, while at a family gathering in New Iberia, he fell ill and was admitted to St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital, where doctors found a brain tumor. He died in the hospital Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000.

Born in New Iberia on Jan. 13, 1966, to Robert and Ethel Frelow, Mr. Frelow moved to Houston as a child and graduated from Smiley High School. He was awarded a bachelor's degree in communications from Howard University in 1988. As a post-graduate, he worked for the Los Angeles Times in San Diego, and had interned at the Washington Post and Houston Post. He was a reporter for the Galveston Daily News, covering county government and religion, and had also worked at the Houston Defender.

Mr. Frelow joined newly elected Mayor Lanier's staff in 1992. During 1996-97 he was spokesman for the city's aviation department. He also was media relations manager for Howard University in Washington, D.C., since 1998.

He was the owner of ROBLEEFRE, a full-service public relations and personal management consultory, with a short list of clients including sports, recording and acting talents. Mr. Frelow was also a member of numerous organizations including the Houston and National Chapters of the Association of black journalists and was responsible for the Houston Alumni Grad for media relations for Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc.

He is survived by his parents, Robert and Ethel Frelow of Houston; two brothers, Kenneth Frelow and Jeffrey Mouton, both of Houston; his paternal great-grandmother, Mary Frelow of New Iberia; and his paternal grandparents, Leroy and Loney Frelow, also of New Iberia.

Mr. Frelow was preceded in death by his brother, Dexter Frelow; his maternal grandparents, Hillman and Mildred Mouton; and his paternal great-grandfather, Charlie Frelow.

Pallbearers were the brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc.

Honorary pallbearers were his brothers, uncles, nephews and cousins.

Barkley Mortuary of Crockett, Texas, was in charge of arrangements.

Wilfred J. Longon Sr.

Services for Wilfred Joseph Longon Sr., 69, will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Evangeline Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in St. Peter's cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1:30-10 p.m. Thursday with a 7 p.m. rosary at Evangeline Funeral Home, which will reopen Friday from 8 a.m. until the time of services.

A resident of New Iberia, Mr. Longon died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at University Medical Center in Lafayette.
