July 18, 1921 - February 17, 2001

Pienta - Ida R. (Biagiotti) of Orient Heights, East Boston on Saturday February 17, 2001.

Beloved wife of the late Leonard Pienta who passed away in 1976.

Devoted mother of Leonard Jr and his wife Anna (Moncini) Pienta of Reading, and Peter Pienta of Marblehead.

Dear sister of Ralph Biagiotti of Medford and the late Anthony Biagiotti.

Loving grandmother of Leonard III of Pepperell, Mary Ann Stolgitis of Hardwick MA, Christina & Kathryn Pienta and Abbie & Maggie Weaver all of Lynnfield.

Also survived by many special nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Ruggiero-Mazzarella Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga Street (Orient Heights) East Boston on Friday February 23 at 9:00am.

Funeral Mass in St. Joseph-St. Lazarus Church, 59 Ashley Street, East Boston at 10:00am.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.

Visiting hours are on Wednesday from 5pm-9pm and Thursday from 4pm-8pm.

Because of her great love for and devotion to the St. Joseph-St. Lazarus Church, memorial donations may be made to the St. Joseph-St. Lazarus Church Building Fund, 59 Ashley Street, East Boston.

Ida, aged 79 years, was born in Charlestown Massachusetts in 1921.

She worked for many years in the 5&10¢ store in Orient Heights and touched the hearts of many children in the community.

She was a devoted member of the St. Joseph-St. Lazarus Church community.

Ida founded the Courageous Generations of the St.Joseph-St.Lazarus Church, and was a late member of Catholic Daughters, Penguin Club and St. Lazarus Home & School Association.

She passed away after a brief illness at the Whidden Memorial Hospital at Everett.

The Memorial Home is handicapped accessible and a children's lounge is available.

Courtesy valet parking at the front entrance and ample off street parking is also available.

Services will conclude with Ida being laid to rest with her beloved husband at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.

JOHN SPANO

December 28, 1910 - January 29, 2001

Spano - John of East Boston after a long illness on Monday January 29, 2001.

Beloved husband of the late Susan (Vecchio).

Devoted father of Marilyn DeFilippis and her husband Andrew of Winthrop, and John Spano and his wife Carolyn of Danvers.

Dear brother of Antonetta Leone of East Boston, and the late Ralph and Frank Spano and Mary Abbruzzese.

Lovingly survived by 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Funeral from the Ruggiero-Mazzarella Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga Street (Orient Heights) East Boston on Thursday February 1 at 9:00am.

Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 128 Gove Street, East Boston at 10:00am.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.

Visiting hours Wednesday evening 4-8pm.

John, aged 90 years, was born in Italy but was a resident of East Boston for the last 80 years.

His wife Susan passed away in January 1994.

The Memorial Home is handicapped accessible and a children's lounge is available.

William Vecchio Sr.

November 28, 1918 - April 19, 2001

Vecchio - William Sr. of Orient Heights, East Boston on Thursday April 19, 2001.

Beloved husband for 61 years of Concettina "Tina" (Carino) Vecchio. Beloved father of Joseph "Buster" of East Boston, William Jr. of Maine, and Linda Knox of East Boston.

Dear brother of Mary Vatalaro of East Boston and the late Domenick, Vito and Jennie Pugliesi.

Also lovingly survived by four grandchildren William III, Priscilla, John and Maria as well as many other nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Ruggiero-Mazzarella Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga Street (Orient Heights) East Boston on Tuesday April 24 at 9:00am.

Funeral Mass in St.Joseph-St.Lazarus Church, 59 Ashley Street, East Boston at 10:00am.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are on Monday from 4pm to 8pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in William's memory may be made to the St. Joseph-St. Lazarus Church Building Fund, 59 Ashley Street, East Boston 02128.

William was born in Boston in 1918 and was a life long resident of East Boston. He served his country in the US Marines in WWII and worked for many years as a supervisor at the Old Champion Lamp Works Co. in Lynn.

William died suddenly at home.

The Memorial Home is handicapped accessible and a children's lounge is available.

Services will conclude with William being laid to rest with his fellow veterans at the V.A. Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

Adeline "Lillian" Ruggiero

July 12, 1928 - January 12, 2004

Ruggiero - Adeline "Lillian" (Albanese) of Orient Heights, East Boston, passed away on Monday January 12th, 2004.

Beloved wife of 53 years of Nicholas Ruggiero.

Devoted mother of Linda Gayhart and her husband Mark of Dover, New Hampshire, Judith Guarino and her husband Michael of east Boston, and the late Thomas Ruggiero.

Dear sister of Frank Albanese of Beverly, Doris Roye of Florida, and the late Mary Pierce.

Cherished grandmother of Michael, Niesa and Anthony.

Also lovingly survived by many fond nieces and nephews.

Adeline, or "Lillian" as many people knew her, was born in East Boston in 1928.

She was a homemaker and a life-long resident of Orient Heights.

Adeline passed away peacefully after a brief illness surrounded by her loving family.

She was 75 years of age.

Robert P.M. Abruzzese

October 30, 1926 - September 14, 2001

Abruzzese - Robert P.M. of Beachmont Revere, formerly of East Boston, on Friday September 14, 2001.

Beloved husband of 52 years of Mafalda (Lazzari).

Devoted father of Robert Jr. and his wife Joan of Las Vegas, and Anthony and his wife Linda (Franey) of Peabody.

Dear brother of Eleanor Montalto of Peabody, Amila Somers of East Boston, Peter Abruzzese of California, Marie Gray of New York, and Anita of Virginia.

Also lovingly survived by 7 grandchildren.

Funeral from the Ruggiero-Mazzarella Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga Street (Orient Heights) East Boston on Tuesday September 18 at 9:00am.

Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1 Endicott Avenue, Revere at 10:00am.

Visiting hours are on Monday from 5:00pm to 9:00pm.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.

Robert was born in Medford Massachusetts in 1926, the son of the late Genaraso and Adele Abruzzese.

He served his country in the US Army and was a veteran of WWII.

Robert worked for many years as a cook in several restaurants and was a member of the Beachmont VFW Post 6172.

Robert passed away peacefully after a brief illness at the Spaulding Rehab Hospital in Boston.

He was 74 years old.

The Memorial Home is handicapped accessible and a children's lounge is available.
