LEOMINSTER- Mary F. (Grant) Hart, 86, of 370 West St., formerly of 100 Main St., a retired nurse, died Monday, March 25, in Fairlawn Nursing Home, after an illness.

Her husband, Charles Hart, died in 1992. She leaves several nieces and nephews. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Daniel F. and Bertha E. (Roach) Grant. She graduated from Ascension High School, Worcester, and from St. Elizabeth's School of Nursing in Brighton.

Mrs. Hart was a registered nurse at Worcester County Hospital before retiring. She was a member of Notre Dame Denemur Alumni Association, the Worcester Diocesan Council of Catholic Nurses, the Leominster Senior Citizens Association, the Golden Age Club, St. Leo's Parish and the Retired State, County and Municipal Employees Association.

The funeral will be held Thursday, March 28, from Curley-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 89 West St., with a Libera service at 11 a.m. in St. Leo's Church, 108 Main St. Burial will be in St. Leo's Cemetery. A calling hour is 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 28, in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Leo's Church, 108 Main St., Leominster, MA 01453; or to Fairlawn Nursing Home General Fund, 370 West St., Leominster, MA 01453.

Barbara F. Hayes, 73

RUTLAND- Barbara F. (Masiello) Hayes, 73, of 106 Main St., died Saturday, March 23, in UMass Memorial Medical Center - Memorial Campus, Worcester, after an illness.

Her husband, Richard F. Hayes, died in 1996. She leaves three sons, Robert F. Hayes of Rutland, William R. Hayes of Auburn, and James P. Hayes of Loudon, N.H.; two daughters, Kathleen M. O'Connor of Rutland and Kristine A. Hall of Greenfield, N.H.; a brother, Paul Masiello of Glen Burnie, Md.; a sister, Dorothy Bousquet of Holden; eight grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A son, John M. Hayes, and a sister, Virginia Verge, predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Leo M. and Selma V. (Elander) Masiello, and lived more than 60 years in Worcester and seven years in Rutland.

Mrs. Hayes was a bookkeeper in the bursar's office at Worcester State College for 14 years, retiring in 1996. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church.

The funeral will be held Tuesday, March 26, from Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden (www.milesfuneralhome.com), with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, 258 Main St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 25, in the funeral home. Yvonne Haynes, 100

BRIELLE, N.J.- Yvonne (LaRose) Maguire Haynes, 100, of Brielle, formerly of Worcester, Mass., a former dressmaker, died Saturday, March 30, in Geraldine Thompson Care Center, Allenwood.

Her husband, Walter Haynes, died in 1976. She leaves a daughter, Mary Bradley Roberts of Brick, formerly of Brielle; a sister, Corinne Kusy of Holiday, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 24 great-great-grandchildren. Her first husband, Joseph J. Maguire, died in 1961. A son, Francis J. Maguire, died in 1985. Another son, John D. Maguire, died in 1987. Fifteen siblings also predeceased her. She was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of Arsene and Georgianna (Ethier) LaRose, and lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., before moving to Brielle.

A dressmaker, Mrs. Haynes was active in the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in New York City. She enjoyed playing bridge, crossword puzzles, and playing the piano.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 6, in Johnson-McGinley Funeral Home, Route 138, Wall. Burial will be at a later date in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. A memorial calling hour is 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 6, in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 919 North Michigan Ave., Suite 1100, Chicago, IL 60611; or to the National Foundation for Cancer Research, 4600 East West Highway, Bethesda, MD 20814.

Josephine Hedstrom, 85

TEWKSBURY- Josephine A. (MacLellan) Hedstrom, 85, of Tewksbury, died Saturday, March 23, at her son's home in Yarmouth, Maine, after a brief illness.

His wife, John E. Hedstrom, died last year. She leaves two daughters, including Martha Hedstrom Nietupski of Ashby; six sons, including Dr. John G. Hedstrom of Sterling Junction and Thomas L. Hedstrom of Lancaster; four sisters; 17 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews. Two brothers predeceased her. She received a bachelor's degree from Salem State Teachers College.

She taught school at Fort Devens and in Tewksbury, and later started and operated a rest home for 40 years. She was a member of St. William's Church.

The funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, from Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. William's Church, 1351 Main St., Route 38. Burial will be in Tewksbury Cemetery. Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity.

Charliss D. Hefner, 73, was a secretary, stewardess

SOUTHBRIDGE- Charliss D. (Henault) Hefner, 73, of Southbridge, died Friday, March 29, in Webster Manor Nursing Home, Webster.

Her husband, Bernard W. Hefner, died in 1995. She leaves two stepsons, Bruce B. and Paul F. Hefner, both of Southbridge; a stepdaughter, Debbie L. Droz of Montclair, N.J.; two brothers, Charles Henault of Kittery, Maine, and Louise Henault of Enfield, N.H.; two sisters, Janice Buckley of Southbridge, with whom she lived, and Elyse Henault of Warren; five grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was born in Woodstock, Vt., daughter of Charles J. and Adela E. (Kania) Henault.

Mrs. Hefner was a secretary in the town's veterans agent's office. Previously, she was a stewardess with Trans World and Eastern airlines. She also worked at Old Sturbridge Village.

No funeral service is planned. After cremation, burial will be at the family's convenience. There are no calling hours. Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., is directing arrangements.

David A. Helm, 82

SUTTON- David A. Helm, 82, of 154 Eight Lots Road, died Friday, March 22, in UMass Memorial Medical Center - Memorial Campus, Worcester, after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 54 years Ann M. (Lynch) Helm, a son, William D. Helm of Worcester, several nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, son of August and Ann (Hammarstrom) Hjelm, and graduated from Commerce High School and Clark University, both in Worcester, and the Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

He was a teacher at Oxford High School for many years before retiring several years ago. He was an avid photographer and gardener. He was a member of the Retired Massachusetts Teachers Association.

The funeral will be held Monday, March 25, from Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 9 Hammond St., Worcester (www.faybrothers.com) with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. John's Church 40 Temple St., Worcester. Burial will be in St. John's cemetery Worcester. Calling hours are from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 24, in the funeral home.

Nicholas Higgins, infant

PAXTON- Nicholas T. Higgins, infant son of Matthew and Erin (Early) Higgins of 16 Monticello Drive, died Monday, March 25, in UMass Memorial Medical Center - Memorial Campus, Worcester.

Besides his parents, he leaves his maternal grandmother, Deborah A. (Wood) Early of Paxton; his paternal grandfather, Daniel G. Higgins of New Jersey; his maternal great-grandparents, Mary A. Wood of Worcester, James M. and Marie B. Early of Paxton; and his paternal great-grandmother, Helen Friel of Worcester.

The private graveside service will be held in Mooreland Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Flowers may be sent or memorial donations may be made to Thomas D. Early, Fight for Life Scholarship Fund, 911 Lincoln Square, Worcester, MA 01608. O'Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Ave., Worcester (www.oconnorbrothers.com), is directing arrangements.

Irene F. Hill, 81

MEDWAY- Irene F. (Webster) Hill, 81, of Lovering Heights, formerly of Upton, died Wednesday, March 20, in Milford-Whitinsville Regional Hospital.

Her husband, Lloyd C. Hill, died in 1981. She leaves two sons, Walter V. Sawyer of Port St. Lucie, Fla. and Douglas L. Hill of Indianapolis, Ind.; two daughters, Janice N. Hope of Port St. Lucie and Judithanne Guiliani of Mendon; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Hill was a sales associate at Grants Store in Worcester for 10 years. She also had worked at Valpey Fisher Company in Hopkinton and Medway Photo Mat. She was born in Taunton, daughter of Charles A. and Marion (Colp) Webster, and lived in Upton and Bellingham before moving to Medway in 1982. She was an auxiliary member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Upton. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Bellingham.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 25, in Buma-Sargeant Funeral Home, 42 Congress St., Milford. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, North Main St., Upton. Calling hours are 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 24, in Buma-Sargeant Funeral Home, 42 Congress St., Milford. A Rebekah Service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 24, in the funeral home. Helen E. Hoisington, 92

SOUTHBORO- Helen E. (Murdock) Hoisington, 92, formerly of Southville Road, died Monday, March 18, in St. Camillus Health Center, Northbridge.

Her husband, Louie A. Hoisington, died in 1992. She leaves a son, Leland R. Hoisington of Cranston, R.I.; three daughters, Carol L. Sweet of Hagerstown, Md., Evelyn R. Till of Mendon and Kate Sullivan of Ann Arbor, Mich.; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. A brother, Henry Murdock of Framingham; and two sisters, Madeline Thorne of Tulsa, Okla., and Frances Foote of Greenville, Miss., predeceased her. She was born in Framingham, daughter of Guy E. and Myrtle E. (Pease) Murdock. She graduated from Framingham High School. She lived in Southboro for 45 years.

Mrs. Hoisington was a bookkeeper for the former Framingham Motors for more than 30 years, retiring in 1983. Before that, she worked at Framingham News and at the Roxbury Carpet Company in Saxonville. She was active in First Community Church and the Women's Fellowship.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 22, in First Community Church, 137 Southville Road. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 21, in Buma-Sargeant Funeral Home, 42 Congress St., Milford. Frederick J. Hwalek, 79

DUDLEY- Frederick J. Hwalek, 79, of 162 Southbridge Road, a carpenter and a veteran of World War II, died Tuesday, March 26, in Providence House Nursing Home, after an illness.

His wife, Catherine S. (Drazba) Hwalek, died in 2000. He leaves a son, William J. Hwalek of Three Rivers; a daughter, Celia A. Sugalski of Thompson; two sisters, Helen Frederick of Charlton and Mary Gervais of Rochdale; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Four brothers, Theodore, John, Stanley and Walter Hwalek, and a sister, Sophie Rodman, predeceased him. He was born in Dudley, son of Joseph A. and Frances (Slota) Hwalek. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II.

Mr. Hwalek was a carpenter and manager for Morse Lumber in Southbridge, retiring several years ago. He also worked as a foreman for FX Laliberte & Co. for many years. Before that, he worked at Pratt & Whitney, East Hartford, and at American Optical Co., Southbridge. He was a member of St. Hedwig's Church in Southbridge, and its St. Stanislaw Solidarity. He enjoyed gardening.

The funeral will be held Thursday, March 28, from Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, with a Liturgy of the Word at 11 a.m. in St. Hedwig's Church, Everett Street, Southbridge. Burial will be in St. Hedwig's Cemetery, Southbridge. Calling hours are 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 28, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Hedwig's Chuch, 29 Summer St., Southbridge, MA 01550.

Herbert C. Ingram, 34

WEBSTER- Herbert C. "Chuck" Ingram, 34, of 1 Crosby St., died Friday, March 29, in Hubbard Regional Hospital, after being stricken ill at home.

He leaves his mother, Patricia R. (Miller) Demoga; two brothers, Philip "Ricky" Sarty of Charlton and Brian Sarty of Webster; three sisters, Ruth Buchanan of Brookfield, and Marjorie D. Barnes and Pam Scaramangos, both of Charlton; nieces and nephews. His stepfather, Michael J. Demoga, died in 1992. He was born in Webster, and lived here all of his life. He graduated from Bartlett High School, where he was on the football, track, baseball and basketball teams. He served four years in the Marine Corps, and attended Quinsigamond Community College for two years.

Mr. Ingram worked at Tents for Rent and Commerce Insurance Co. He recently worked at Aristo Craft in Oxford. He was active in the men's softball and bowling leagues, and volunteered for Foodshare. He enjoyed music and poetry.

The funeral will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, April 4, in Robert J. Miller Funeral Home and Lake Chapel, 366 School St. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery. Calling hours are 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, April 4, in the funeral home.
