Blanche Goudreau, 95

GRAFTON - Blanche E. (Ballard) Goudreau, 95, of 86 North St., died Friday, June 7, in University Commons Nursing Center, Worcester.

Her husband, Delphus P. Goudreau, died in 1979. She leaves a daughter, Shirley Antaya of North Grafton; two granddaughters, Kathryn Bavosi of Grafton, with whom she lived, and Deborah Kazlauskas of East Greenwich, R.I.; and six great - grandchildren. She was born in Marlboro, daughter of Fred and Louise (Ballard) Ballard. She then lived many years in Worcester before moving to Grafton in 1990.

Mrs. Goudreau worked many years at the former Memorial Hospital in Worcester, retiring in 1972. She was a member of St. James Church in South Grafton.

The funeral and burial will be private. There are no calling hours. Donations may be made to St. James Church Memorial Fund, 89 Main St., South Grafton, MA 01560. Robert C. Roney Funeral Home, 152 Worcester St., North Grafton, is directing arrangements.

Marcus G. Grodberg

SARASOTA, Fla. - Marcus Gordon Grodberg, 79, of 4091 Hearthstone Drive, formerly of Worcester, Mass., died Wednesday, June 5, in Sarasota Memorial Hospital.

He leaves his wife of 51 years, Shirley (Merkle) Grodberg; three sons, Joel Grodberg of Leavenworth, Kan., Kim G. Grodberg of Manhattan, Kan., and Jeremy D. Grodberg of Santa Ana, Calif.; a brother, David Grodberg of Sarasota; and three grandchildren. He was born in Worcester, son of Isaac and Rosalie (Hirsch) Grodberg, and lived 37 years in Newton, Mass., and 10 years in Sarasota. He graduated from Classical High School and from Clark University, both in Worcester, and received a master's degree from the University of Illinois.

Mr. Grodberg was a director of research and development for pharmaceutical products at Colgate - Hoyte Laboratories in Boston, where he worked for 30 years before retiring in 1989. He held several patents for fluoride prescription pharmaceuticals.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday, June 9, in Perlman Funeral Home, 1026 Main St., Worcester. Burial will be in B'Nai B'Rith Cemetery, Worcester. The memorial observance will be announced. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity.

Michael Haidousis, 46

FITCHBURG - Michael Haidousis, 46, of 19 Pearl Hill Road, died Sunday, June 9, in Sterling.

He leaves his wife of 21 years, Litsa (Idaris) Haidousis; a son, John I. Haidousis of Fitchburg; a sister, Voula Zoizou of Igoumenitsa, Greece; nephews and nieces. He was born in Plaiso, Greece, son of John and Zoitsa (Venos) Haidousis, and moved to the United States many years ago.

Mr. Haidousis co - owned and operated Campus Pizza for 21 years. He was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, where he served on the church council as vice president. He was active in community affairs, and the Fitchburg Youth Soccer League, where he was also a coach.

The funeral will be held Friday, June 14, from Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Road, with a service at 10 a.m. in Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 1319 Main St. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 13, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 1319 Main St., Fitchburg, MA 01420.

Gerald Holmes Jr., 53

AUBURN - Gerald L. Holmes Jr., 53, of 100 Boyce St., a retired business owner and operator, died Tuesday, June 11, in UMass Memorial Medical Center - Memorial Campus, Worcester, after a short illness.

He leaves his wife of 28 years, Debra J. (Millward) Holmes; a daughter, Jennifer L. Couture of Auburn; a son, Jeffrey A. Holmes of Auburn; three sisters, Linda L. Guinee and Joyce R. McNeaney, both of Charlton, and Diane M. Savage of Millbury; two brothers, Donald A. Holmes Sr. of Charlton and Paul R. Holmes Sr. of Washington; nephews and nieces. He was born in Barton, Vt., son of Gerald L. Holmes Sr. and Ruth A. (Collette) Holmes, and was raised in Millbury. He lived briefly in Worcester before moving to Auburn in 1975. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.

Mr. Holmes was an automobile mechanic who owned and operated Jerry's Service Center, Worcester, before retiring because of illness in 1995. He was a member of First Congregational Church, Millbury. He enjoyed restoring and showing antique automobiles and attending auto shows.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 14, in First Congregational Church, West Main Street, Millbury. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 13, in Turgeon Funeral Home, 56 Main St., Millbury. Memorial donations may be made to National Kidney Foundation of Massachusetts, 129 Morgan Drive, Norwood, MA 02062; or to American Diabetes Association, 1 Bromfield St., Fifth Floor, Boston, MA 02108.

Elbert L. Houghton, 77

WORCESTER - Elbert L. "Al" Houghton, 77, of 36 Claridge Road, a World War II veteran and a retired machine operator, died Sunday, June 9, at home after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 32 years, Virginia M. (Gallo) Houghton; four sons, Mike A. Houghton of Oakham, Scott G. Houghton of Dudley, Steven P. Houghton of the North Grosvernordale section of Thompson, and Kevin J. Houghton of Worcester; a daughter, Kimberly Ann Snediker of Grafton; a brother, Robert Houghton of Patterson, Calif.; two sisters, Charlotte Raudio of California and Bertie Barto of Washington; 12 grandchildren; two great - grandchildren; nieces and nephews. His adoptive mother, Mary Clark, a brother, Charles Houghton Jr., and a sister, Helen "Tooty" Farrell, predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of Charles and Mildred (Williams) Houghton, and was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in Europe, Africa, Asia and the Pacific.

Mr. Houghton was a machine operator for 37 years at Norton Co., retiring in 1990. He was a member of Greendale Peoples Church, Worcester Surfcasting Club, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Harold N. Keith American Legion Post 204 in West Boylston and the Navy Reserves. He was a 32nd - degree Mason and a member of Morning Star Lodge of Masons. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

The memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, in Greendale Peoples Church, 25 Francis St. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Shriners Hospital, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114; or to another charity. Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Hammond St. (www.Royfuneral.com), is directing arrangements.

Frank J. Kenney, 97

WORCESTER - Frank J. Kenney, 97, of 8 Melville St., a retired company vice president, died Saturday, June 8, at home after an illness.

His wife of 33 years, N. Myra (Glazier) Kenney, died in 1984. He leaves two sisters, Eleanor M. Buckley and M. Gladys Reardon, both of Worcester. A sister, Ruth M. Kenney of Worcester, died last year. He was born in Worcester, son of Frank H. and Margaret (Maguire) Kenney, and lived in Gloucester and Belleair, Fla., before returning to Worcester in the 1980s. He graduated from Catholic University in Washington, D.C.

Mr. Kenney was vice president of Sheppard Envelope Co., retiring in 1967. Previously, he owned and operated House of Kenney, a home furnishing store in Framingham. He was a founding member of St. Bernard's Parish and a former member of Worcester Art Museum, Rockport Art Association and Sandy Bay Yacht Club.

The funeral service and entombment in St. John's cemetery will be private. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to St. Bernard's Church, 236 Lincoln St., Worcester, MA 01605. Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., is directing arrangements.

George P. Koronis, 75

AYER - George P. Koronis, 75, of 43 Sandy Pond Road, a World War II veteran and a retired bank treasurer, died Monday, June 3, in the Hospice Residence, Worcester.

His wife, Ursula (Schluter) Koronis, died in 1970. He leaves two sons, including Stephen G. Koronis of Charlton; four sisters, including Gianoula Bahaviolos of Worcester; and a granddaughter. A brother died in 1977. He was born in Ayer, and graduated from Ayer High School in 1946. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Mr. Koronis worked more than 30 years at North Middlesex Savings Bank, retiring as treasurer and mortgage officer in 1989. He attended St. Andrew's Episcopal Church and was affiliated with several organizations in Ayer.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 7, in St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 7 Faulkner St. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 6, in T.J. Anderson & Son Funeral Home, 46 Washington St. (www.andersonfuneral.com). Memorial donations may be made to St. Andrew's Church, 7 Faulkner St., Ayer, MA 01432.

Ralph M. Martin, 43

ATHOL - Ralph M. Martin, 43, of 201 Sanders St., died Wednesday, June 5, at home after an illness.

He leaves his wife of three years, Nichole (Bussiere) Martin; his stepmother, Sylvia Forand of Fitchburg; a brother, James Martin of Pennsylvania. He was born in Boston, son of Sherman and Camille (D'Agresto) Martin, and lived many years in Athol.

He was a self - employed general contractor, and enjoyed camping in the White Mountains.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 7, in Fiske Funeral Home, 1356 Main St. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. A calling hour will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday, June 7, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Athol Animal Shelter, c/o Animal Control Officer, 584 Main St., Athol, MA 01331.

Richard F. McCue, 74

LEICESTER - Richard F. McCue, 74, of 878 Stafford St. in the Rochdale section of Leicester, a veteran of two wars, died Thursday, June 13, at the home of his daughter.

He leaves four daughters; Elizabeth A. Cooper of Rochdale, with whom he lived, Mary E. McCue Cocker and Ellen F. O'Neil, both of Spencer, and Eileen F. Dyson Alexander of Leicester; five sons, Thom McCue of Provincetown, Richard C., Andrew P. and Mark B. McCue, all of the Cherry Valley section of Leicester, and Matthew B. McCue of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three sisters, Mary Snook and Eleanor Bergin, both of Leicester, and Geraldine Wilson of Cherry Valley; 21 grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Five brothers, Roy and John Shepard and James, Charles and Vincent McCue; and a sister, Eileen Wilson, predeceased him. He was born in Leicester, son of Charles and Elizabeth (Barry) McCue, and lived in Cherry Valley most of his life before moving to Rochdale 15 years ago. He graduated from North High School in Worcester. He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War, and served in Germany and Korea.

Mr. McCue was a heat treater at Reed & Prince Manufacturing Co. in Worcester for 35 years, retiring in 1986. He was a life member and past commander of the Cherry Valley Post 443 American Legion. He was a member of St. Joseph Church.

The funeral will be held Saturday, June 15, from Morrison - Morin Funeral Home, 1131 Main St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, 759 Main St. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 14, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to VNA Care Hospice, 120 Thomas St., Worcester, MA 01608.

William F. Rabidou, 62

Mitchell M. Roukat, 86

DUDLEY - Mitchell M. Roukat, 86, of 100 Klondike Road, a World War II veteran, died Thursday, June 6, in UMass Memorial Medical Center - Memorial Campus after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 48 years, Stella A. (Antos) Roukat; a daughter, Cynthia A. Zak of Webster; three brothers, Edward Roukat of Corpus Christi, Texas, Frank Roukat of Auburn and Henry Roukat of Dudley; two sisters, Harriet O'Neill of Nashua, N.H. and Nancy Greene of Southbridge; a granddaughter; nephews and nieces. A brother, Martin Roukat; and a sister, Josephine Ostrowski, predeceased him. He was born in New York, son of Joseph and Helen (Chrzanowska) Roukat, and had lived in Dudley most of his life. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe as a staff sergeant and platoon leader. He was also in the National Guard for eight years.

Mr. Roukat owned and operated Standard Taxi Co. for more than 15 years. He also co - owned Standard Radiator and Upholstery Shop for several years, and then was a sales clerk at the Greendale Package Store in Worcester for several years before retiring in 1981. He was a member of St. Andrew Bobola Church.

Funeral services were private. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Andrew Bobola Church, 54 West Main St., PO Box 98, Dudley, MA 01571. Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., Webster, is directing funeral arrangements.

Roger H. Ruhsenberger

HUBBARDSTON - Roger H. Ruhsenberger, 70, of Hubbardston, a retired Navy commander, died Thursday, June 6, in Boston Medical Center after a long illness.

He leaves his wife of 34 years, Mary E. (Hudson) Ruhsenberger; three daughters, Christine Medalen of Petersburg, Alaska, Jane Ruhsenberger of Corvallis, Ore., and Marie Cave of Everett, Wash.; two sons, Charles Ruhsenberger of Lacenter, Wash., and Michael Ruhsenberger of Fort Worth, Texas; a brother, John Ruhsenberger of Lady Lake, Fla.; and six grandchildren. He was born in Pensacola, Fla., son of John R. and May C. (Whiddon) Ruhsenberger, and lived 14 years in Seattle before moving to Hubbardston nine years ago. He graduated from Port Washington High School in Long Island, N.Y., and in 1952 from Maine Maritime Academy. He served two years in the merchant marine.

Mr. Ruhsenberger was a commander in the Navy for 26 years, retiring in 1979. His duty stations included Japan, Germany, Korea, and the Aleutian Islands. He was civilian harbormaster on Diego Garcia and later veterans representative for the state of Washington from 1987 to 1992. He attended First Baptist Church, Gardner. He was an outdoorsman, who enjoyed fishing, hunting, handyman activities and traveling.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 10, in First Baptist Church, 14 High St., Gardner. Burial will be at a later date in Veterans National Cemetery, Winchendon. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 9, in Smith Funeral Home, 69 Vernon St., Gardner. Donations may be made to First Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 14 High St., Gardner, MA 01440.
