Lila M. Conway

GREENFIELD - Lila M. (Fredette) Conway, 70, a resident of the Buckley Healthcare Center, died Saturday (4-8-06) at the center.

She was born in Keene, N.H., on June 12, 1935, the daughter of Kenneth and Hazel (Forbes) Fredette. She had been a resident of Roanoke, Virginia prior to relocating to Greenfield in 2003.

She was a homemaker.

Lila was a former member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary in Walpole, N.H.

She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and crafts.

Her husband, Richard E. Conway pre-deceased her in 2004.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Virginia Smith of Roanoke, Va. And Debra Coates and her husband Shawn of Greenfield, a brother, James Fredette of Westmoreland, N.H., a sister, Barbara Westley of the state of Florida, 2 grandsons, George Proulx of Greenfield and Richard Class of Greensboro, N.C., 4 great-grandchildren, Whitney, Emily, David and Jacob and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be private. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

There are no calling hours.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Buckley Healthcare Center, in care of Activities Fund, 95 Laurel St., Greenfield MA 01301.

Kostanski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Francis L. Sulda

TURNERS FALLS - Francis L. Sulda, 63, of 16 Chestnut St. died Saturday, May 27, 2006, at the Franklin Medical Center after a lengthy illness.

He was born in Montague on Oct. 5, 1942, the son of Paul and Nellie (Tranowski) Sulda. He attended Montague schools and graduated in 1961 from Turners Falls High School.

While in high school, he worked at the First National grocery store and then went to work at the Millers Falls Co. in Greenfield in the hardening room.

He was a painter for Tate's Painting. He was employed by Greenfield Tap & Die as a janitor, an elevator operator and a shipping room clerk until retiring in 1998 due to illness.

He was an avid bowler in the 1960s. He enjoyed bingo, going to the casino, playing cards and reading.

He married Rose Marie Emery on April 8, 1967.

Besides his wife of 39 years he leaves his father Paul Sulda Sr. and his wife Jeannette of Turners Falls; two brothers, Paul Sulda Jr. of Athol and Robert Sulda and his wife Charleen of Turners Falls; a sister Susan San Soucie and her husband Brian of Turners Falls, and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 7, 2006, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Church, 90 Seventh St., with the Rev. Stanley J. Aksamit officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

There are no calling hours.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Abraham J. Glazer

BOSTON - Abraham J. Glazer, 92, of 43 Iroquois St. died Thursday (5-25-06) at the Buckley HealthCare Center in Greenfield.

He was born in Chelsea on Feb. 22, 1914, the son of Wolfe and Mary (Glassman) Glazer. He graduated from Chelsea High School.

He was the grocery manager for Mal's Supermarket in Malden.

His wife, the former Esther Warshofsky, predeceased him in 1985.

Survivors include two daughters, Carol Lee Glazer and her husband Robert Callery of Gill and Gail Grady and her husband George Grenidge of Boston; four grandchildren, Seth and Joshua Grady and Jacob and Rebecca Callery, and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Breziak-Rodman Funeral Home, 1251 Washington St., West Newton. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

There are no calling hours.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham MA 01701-4688 or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Kostanski Funeral Home, Greenfield, is in charge of arrangements.

Mary A. Pekarski

SOUTH DEERFIELD - Mary A. (Maiewski) Pekarski, 91, of Conway Road passed away Thursday (11-15-07) at the home of her daughter, Helen Magee, of Groton.

She was born in Whately on July 2, 1916, the daughter of Zigmont and Bronislawa (Wasilewski) Maiewski. She attended local schools in Whately and had been a resident of South Deerfield for 65 years.

Mary was married to the late T. Walter Pekarski on Oct. 30, 1938 in Holy Name of Jesus Church in South Deerfield. He predeceased her on April 14, 1992.

She and her late husband founded Pekarski Sausage in 1948, which is still currently operated by the family.

She was a communicant of Holy Name of Jesus Church.

Survivors include her children, Estelle M. Yokubaitis of Sunderland, Walter Piekarski and John Pekarski, both of South Deerfield, and Helen Magee of Groton; her sisters, Sophie Procon of Northampton, Jennie Siwy of Easthampton and Jessie Barsh of Northampton, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Jessie Britt of South Deerfield and Wanda Tenney of West Swanzey, N.H., as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Peter Majewski and Benny Maiewski.

Services will be held Monday at 9 a.m. from the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal St., Greenfield, followed by a Requiem Mass at 10 in Holy Name of Jesus Church, South Deerfield, with the Rev. Randolph Calvo, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Nashoba Nursing Service and Hospice, Two Shaker Road, Suite D225, Shirley, MA 01464.

Laura E. Gralenski

ERVING - Laura E. (Terlikoski) Gralenski, 93, of 91 Northfield Road died Tuesday (11-13-07) at the Buckley HealthCare Center in Greenfield.

She was born in Montague on Aug. 6, 1914, the daughter of Charles and Julia (Pysz) Terlikoski. She attended local schools in Montague and had been a resident of Erving since 1940.

Laura was a hairdresser for the former Franklin Nursing Home in Greenfield for 20 years, retiring in 1982. Previously, she was employed by the former Evelyn's Beauty Parlor in Greenfield for over 10 years.

She was a communicant of St. John's Church in Millers Falls.

She was very devoted to her family.

Laura enjoyed collecting antique bottles, reading, cooking and baking. Also, she was an avid gardener who enjoyed growing flowers, vegetables and berries.

Her husband, Nicholas M. Gralenski Sr., predeceased her on Dec. 27, 1990.

Survivors include four sons, Nicholas M. Jr. of Aptos, Calif., John J. of Shelburne, N.H., Frederick M. of Pembroke, Maine, and Michael J.; a brother, Louis Terlikoski of Millers Falls; a sister, Helen Lambert of Millers Falls; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Jean Shear.

Services will be held Friday at 9:15 a.m. from the Kostanski Funeral Home, 1 Kostanski Square, Turners Falls, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 in St. John's Church with the Rev. Dennis Bombardier, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Czestochowa cemetery in Turners Falls.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be Thursday from 3 to 6 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Buckley HealthCare Center, c/o Resident Activity Council, 95 Laurel St., or to Hospice of Franklin County, 329 Conway St., both in Greenfield, MA 01301.

Robert G. Larabee Jr.

LEEDS - Robert G. Larabee Jr., 58, a resident of the Veterans Administration Medical Center, formerly of Greenfield, died Sunday (11-11-07) at the center surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Greenfield on May 24, 1949, the son of Robert G. Sr. and Elizabeth (Schatz) Larabee. He graduated from Greenfield High School in 1967, where he was a member of the football and basketball team.

Bob had been employed as a meat cutter for the former Butcher Boy in Greenfield and then was employed by the Vermont Yankee Atomic Plant for several years.

He served with the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Tattnall during the Vietnam War.

In his younger years, he was a Cub Scout and then a Boy Scout with Troop 1, where along with his brother, Leonard, became an Eagle Scout in 1966.

Bob enjoyed music and performed in a rock band. Also, he enjoyed going to the movies with his grandchildren.

Besides his mother of Greenfield, he leaves a daughter, Kerry A. (Larabee) Bernier and her husband Marc of Greenfield; three brothers, Leonard Larabee of Westfield, Michael Larabee and his wife Karen of Greenfield and James Larabee of Rowlett, Texas; two grandchildren, Jordan and Paige Bernier; an aunt, Jane Scott of Turners Falls, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal St. Burial will follow in Green River Cemetery.

A calling hour will be Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Czestochowa Church Renovation Fund, 84 K St., Turners Falls, MA 01376.

William C. Reed

ERVING - William "Bill" C. Reed, 68, of 7 Gunn St. died Tuesday (11-6-07) at Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield.

He was born in Greenfield on Feb. 22, 1939, the son of Clifton and Kathryn (Curtis) Reed. He attended local schools in Wendell and graduated from New Salem Academy in 1957. He was a longtime resident of Erving.

Bill was employed by International Paper Co. from 1965-2005, retiring as a maintenance supervisor. Previously, he was employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Forestry Division and also the Millers Falls Co.

He was a lifetime member of the North American Hunting and Fishing Club and enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, the former Ovilina R. Wojnar; a son, Joseph C. Sr. and his wife Monica of Erving; a daughter, Kathryn T. Haggett and her husband Steven of Phillipston; four grandchildren, William Reed and his wife Milissa, Joseph C. Jr. and Kelly Lynn Reed and Steven Haggett and his wife Gail; three great-grandchildren and several cousins.

A memorial service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 1 Kostanski Square, Turners Falls. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Evergreen Cemetery, Winchester, N.H.

A calling hour will be Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
