June M. Deveney

GREENFIELD - June M. (Lavoie) Deveney, 90, of 38 Smith St. died Tuesday (1-29-08) at the Calvin Coolidge Nursing Home in Northampton.

She was born in Greenfield on Aug. 22, 1917, the daughter of Joseph and Marion (Collins) Lavoie. She graduated from Greenfield High School in 1935 and had been a lifelong resident of Greenfield.

June was a waitress at various local restaurants. Late in life, she held many part-time jobs at the Registry of Deeds, Franklin County Arts Council and the GCC and Carnegie libraries.

She was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church.

June was a member of the Country Club of Greenfield and was an avid painter.

Her husband, John "Ray" R. Deveney Sr., predeceased her on May 25, 2002.

Survivors include two sons, James F. of Asheville, N.C., and John R. Jr. of Greenfield; two daughters, Colleen A. Gusmano of Greenfield and Mary A. Mauro of Ridgefield, Conn.; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A daughter, Kathleen M. Ward, predeceased her in 1990.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 8:15 a.m. from the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 in Blessed Sacrament Church with the Rev. Timothy J. Campoli, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Pioneer Valley Humane Society, P.O. Box 786, Greenfield, MA 01302.

Lillian L. Lemure

GREENFIELD - Lillian L. Lemure, 72, of 59 East Cleveland St., died Monday (1-28-08) at Baystate Franklin Medical Center.

She was born in Montague on Aug. 11, 1935, the daughter of Frederick and Pearl (Canon) Lemure. She graduated from Greenfield High School in 1953 and had been a resident of Greenfield most of her life.

She was a communicant of Holy Trinity Church.

Lillian was an accomplished artist.

Survivors include a brother, Clifford C. Deyo, with whom she resided, and several nieces and nephews.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 9 a.m. in Holy Trinity Church with Monsignor Ronald G. Yargeau, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

A calling hour will be Friday from 7:45 to 8:45 a.m. at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal St.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.

Mary E. Waseleski

ERVING - Mary E. (Waryasz) Waseleski, 92, of 125 Northfield Rd., died Friday (1-25-08) at Quabbin Valley Health Care in Athol.

She was born in Greenfield on March 24, 1915 the daughter of Peter and Theresa (Konjula) Waryasz. Mary attended Greenfield schools.

She worked along with her late husband, Charles, in the family trucking business, Waseleski Trucking.

Mary enjoyed mushroom picking, crafts and salmon fishing with Charles.

She was a communicant of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church and a former member of the Rosary Society.

She was predeceased by her husband, Charles E. Waseleski, in 1984 and by her son, Charles A. Waseleski, Sr., in 1998.

She leaves two grandsons, Charles A. Waseleski, Jr. of Millers Falls and Joseph Waseleski of Erving; one great-granddaughter, Kathleen Nipper of Vacaville, CA; a daughter-in-law, Mildred Waseleski of Erving; two sisters, Helen Nowaszkowski of West Springfield and Julia Stempel of Erving, and several nieces and nephews.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday (1-28-08) at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, Turners Falls, with the Rev. Charles J. DiMascola, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Calling hour will be Monday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Kostanski Funeral Home 1 Kostanski Square, Turners Falls.

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Czestochowa Church Renovation Fund, 84 K St., Turners Falls, MA 01376.

Danial C. Sullivan

ERVING - Danial "Danny" C. Sullivan, 57, of 84 Old State Road and 352 Barker Road in Pittsfield, died unexpectedly on Thursday (1-24-08).

He was born in Montague on Nov. 18, 1950, the son of Richard and Yvette (Pine) Sullivan. He attended Turners Falls High School and had been a resident of Erving since 1979.

Danny was a team leader for Schweitzer Mauduit Inc. in Lee for six years until 2006. Previously, he was employed by the Millers Falls Paper Co. and Strathmore Paper Co.

He was a member of the Franklin County League of Sportsmen's Clubs and also the Lenox Sportsmen's Club.

He was an avid target shooter and won many trophies over the years.

Danny enjoyed watching wrestling with his grandson and spending time with his granddaughter. Also, he enjoyed motorcycling, car shows, wine tasting, birds and photography.

Survivors include his wife, the former Margaret A. Gardner; two daughters, Pamela S. Thoma and her husband Glenn A. and their son Chandler of Northfield and Beth A. Palmquist and her husband Jerry Jr. and their daughter Kiley of Erving; a brother, Robert Cromack of Doylestown, Pa., and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 1 Kostanski Square, Turners Falls, with the Rev. Arthur Warner of the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, Greenfield, officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday from 4:30 p.m. until the time of the service.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.

Barbara A. Loverro

ATHOL - Barbara A. (Ashley) Loverro, 78, of 144 Lakewood Drive, died Friday, (5-24-2002) at home.

Born in Bridgewater on April 21, 1924, she was the daughter of Harold and Ethel (Howland) Ashley.

She was raised in Orange and graduated from Orange High School with the class of 1942. She had resided in Athol the past 53 years.

Loverro had worked as a waitress in Orange and was employed at the L. S. Starrett Co. several years ago. She was a member of the Athol-Orange Baptist Church.

An avid bowler, she had belonged to bowling leagues in the area, and had won many trophies. She enjoyed going to yard sales and golf, and was a member of the Ellinwood Country Club. She and her husband had wintered in Florida for many years.

Her husband of 46 years, Phillip J. Loverro, died in 1996.

Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie L. Wozniak and her husband, Paul of Pepperell; two grandsons, Scott Rossi and his wife Tracy of Methuen, and Jason Rossi and his wife Amy of Litchfield, N.H.; three great-grandchildren, Zachary Rossi, Caitlyn Rossi, and Madison Rossi, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home, 137 Main Street. The Rev. Mark Bariloni, pastor of the Athol-Orange Baptist Church, will officiate.

Burial will follow in South Cemetery, Orange.

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Shirley T. Bukowski

BERNARDSTON - Shirley T. (Letourneau) Bukowski, 66, of 101 Bald Mountain Road died Tuesday (5-21-2002) at the Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield.

She was born in the Bronx, N.Y., Dec. 24, 1935. She graduated from the former Powers Institute in Bernardston, where she lettered in basketball. She had been a resident of Greenfield before moving to Bernardston in 1988.

Bukowski was a homemaker.

She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Greenfield.

She enjoyed soap operas, dancing, crossword puzzles, gardening and roller-skating.

Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Richard W. Bukowski Sr.; two sons, Richard W. Jr. and Daniel J., both of Greenfield; two daughters, Theresa M. of Greenfield and Debra J. Raymond of Winchester, N.H.; a brother, George Letourneau of Bernardston; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Services, all in Greenfield, will be Saturday at 9:15 a.m. from the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal St., followed by the Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 in Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. Stanley J. Aksamit, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be Friday evening from 6 to 8.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Sacred Heart Church Renovation Fund, in care of Aksamit, 75 Prospect St., Greenfield, MA 01301.

Walter A. Cadran

ORANGE - Walter A. Cadran, 67, of 175 Holtshire Road was found dead at home on Friday (5-17-2002) after becoming ill while mowing his lawn.

Born in Montague, March 2, 1935, he was the son of Walter J. and Elizabeth H. (Mosher) Cadran. He grew up in Montague and had lived in Greenfield and Leyden before moving to Orange 25 years ago.

Prior to his retirement, Cadran was a machine operator at the Nicholas & Stone Co. in Gardner. He had also worked in the cutting room at the former J.F. McElwain Co. in Athol for 18 years.

An outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and vegetable gardening. He liked watching sports, especially football.

His wife, the former Althea Hunter, died in 1992.

Survivors include several cousins. His friend was Merrill Wesson of Orange.

Services will be private. Interment will be in West Orange Cemetery.

There are no calling hours.

Witty's Funeral Home is directing arrangements.
