Eleanor B. Jones, 82

Osterville - Eleanor Brennon Jones, 82, of Osterville, died May 2, 2001, at her home after a brief illness.
She was the wife of A. Ross Jones, who died in 1972.
Born in New York City, Mrs. Jones graduated from the Brearly School. She and her husband moved from Katonah, N.Y., to Osterville 28 years ago.
Mrs. Jones was a familiar figure to residents of Osterville. She was a member of the Wianno Club, and worked at Mark, Fore and Strike for a number of years.
She was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels, and most days could be found at local nursing homes visiting elderly patients and engaging them in a game of cards.
She enjoyed the wildlife of Cape Cod and her golden retriever Callie.
She leaves a daughter, Eleanor J. Panasevich of Weston; three sons, Ross Jones of Gulf Stream, Fla., Timothy G. Jones of Somerville and Brennon Jones of New York City; and five grandchildren.
A graveside service was held at Hillside Cemetery in Osterville.
Memorial donations may be made to the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 1577 Falmouth Road, Centerville, MA 02632.

Joseph C. Kelley, 87

Centerville - Joseph C. Kelley, 87, of Centerville, died June 13, 2001, at Royal Nursing & Alzheimer's Center in Falmouth.
He was the husband of Rita (Kelley) Kelley of Centerville for 60 years.
Mr. Kelley was born in Boston, and was an Army veteran of World War II, serving with Company E, 2nd Battalion, 328th Infantry of the 26th Yankee Division. He was in the Battle of the Bulge, and was awarded two Bronze Stars and several other medals. He retired as a pipefitter for Buzzards Bay Gas Company in 1971.
He was a life member of Post #2578, VFW in Hyannis and the Elks Lodge #1549 in Hyannis. He was a Fourth Degree Knight at the Knights of Columbus in Falmouth.
He was a member of the Barnstable Democratic Town Committee for 58 years.
Mr. Kelley was a communicant and usher at St. Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis, Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville, and St. Ignatius Church in Tarpon Springs, Fla.
In addition to his wife, he leaves a daughter, Peggy Kelley of Centerville; two sons, Michael Kelley of Centerville, and Dennis Kelley of Hyannis; seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was celebrated in Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville. Burial followed in Oak Grove Cemetery in Hyannis.
Memorial donations may be made to V.N.A. of Central Cape Cod, 434 Route 134, South Dennis, MA 02660; or to the Alzheimer's Association of Cape Cod, 895 Mary Dunn Rd., Hyannis, MA 02601.

Neil MacDonald, 81

Barnstable ­ Neil MacDonald, 81, of Barnstable died June 9, 2001, at Hospice House in Barnstable.
He was married to Yvonne MacDonald for 56 years.
He was born in Scotland, came to the United States as a young boy, and received his early education in Westchester County, N.Y. He was a 1951 graduate of McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
He was a Royal Canadian Air Force veteran of World War II.
He worked in New York for the British Ministry of War Transport. He worked 30 years for Connecticut General Life Insurance (now Cigna Corporation).
In addition to his wife, he leaves a daughter, Wendy Krom of Glastonbury, Conn.; and four sons, Robert MacDonald of Glastonbury, Conn.., Peter MacDonald of Costa Mesa, Calif,, John MacDonald of Cotuit, and David MacDonald of Dennis.
A memorial service will be held June 23 at 11 a.m. in St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Simsbury, Conn.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cape Cod, 923 Route 6A, Yarmouthport MA 02675.

Taimi Lillian Toko Olkkola, 93

Barnstable - Taimi Lillian (Hieteranta) Toko Olkkola, 93, of Barnstable, died June 7, 2001, at the Greenery at Hyannis.
She was the wife of the late Eino Toko and the late Waino Olkkola.
Born in Ruovesi, Finland, she moved to the United States as a child. She was raised in Fitchburg and graduated from Fitchburg High school in 1925.
She married Eino Toko in 1929 and lived in Lunenburg until his death in 1962. She married Waino Olkkola in 1969 and lived in Falmouth until his death in 1984.
She worked at the Worker's Credit Union in Fitchburg for many years and at the Arrow Co. in Leominster.
She was a member of the Elm Street Congregational Church, Fitchburg; Finnish American Club, Fitchburg; Finnish Golden Agers; and the Kaleva Society, Fitchburg.
She is survived by a daughter, Doris Glennon of Barnstable; four grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.
She also was the mother of Lois E. Toko, who died in 1994.
A memorial service was held at the Elm Street Congregational Church in Fitchburg. Burial was private.
Memorial donations may be made to the Greenery Activities Fund, 89 Lewis Bay Road, Hyannis, MA 02601; or to the charity of one's choice.

Phyllis M. Taylor

Osterville - Phyllis M. (Watts) Taylor, of Osterville, died June 11, 2001, at her daughter's home in Dallas, Texas .
She was the wife of the late John A. Taylor.
Mrs. Taylor was born in India and raised on the Isle of Wight, England. She lived in various locales, including Central America, Africa and Europe, as well as in Massachusetts. She enjoyed an active social life, was an avid golfer and had spent winters in St. Croix since 1976.
Surviving are a daughter, Victoria Durbec of Dallas; a son, Richard Taylor of St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands; and four grandchildren.
A graveside memorial service was held at Mosswood Cemetery in Cotuit.

Patricia Ann Thomas, 60

Hyannis - Patricia Ann (Lovejoy) Thomas, 60, a resident of Hyannis, died June 8, 2001, at Cape Cod Hospital Extended Care - Pavilion in Hyannis.
Mrs. Thomas was a native Cape Codder, born in Hyannis, where she was a lifetime resident.
She graduated from Barnstable High School in 1959, and later graduated from Mount Ida College in Newton.
She was a member of the Federated Church of Hyannis.
She enjoyed reading, yoga, walking on the beach and music.
She leaves her mother, Shirley Barnak of Burlington, N.C.; her son, Glen Thomas of Wilmington, Del.; her fiancé, Frederick Glennon of Hyannis; and a granddaughter.
A memorial service was held at the Federated Church of Hyannis. Burial was private.

Lurene E. Thompson, 45

Centerville - Lurene E. Thompson, 45, of Centerville, died June 1, 2001, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis. She was born in Newton, and educated in Natick Schools. She attended Boston College.
She was a flight attendant for the former Air New England.
She leaves her father, Robert Thompson of Centerville; three sisters, Cheryl and Donna Thompson, both of Newton, and Karen Duplessis of Framingham; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass was celebrated in Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville. Burial was private.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Virginia B. Towne, 91

Barnstable - Virginia Bishop (Bennett) Towne, 91, of Barnstable, formerly of Quincy, died June 8, 2001, at the Greenery in Hyannis.
She was the wife of the late Ralph S. Towne.
She was born in Boston, and lived many years in Dorchester and Quincy.
Mrs. Towne was retired from the former Quincy City Hospital, where she was an administrator and bookkeeper.
She was a member of the Wollaston Congregation Church.
Mrs. Towne also belonged to the Quincy Neighborhood Club, the Wollaston Yacht Club and the Tri-W Women's Club.
She loved to travel and made several trips to Europe and throughout the United States.
She leaves two sons, Stephen Towne of Barnstable and Jeffery Towne of Colorado; a daughter, Janica Anderson of California; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held in the Deware Funeral Home in Quincy. Burial in Mount Wollaston Cemetery was private.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1115 W. Chestnut St., Brockton MA 02401.
