Whitney Wright, 85

Hyannis Port - Whitney Wright, a former resident of Dedham, died Nov. 21, 2001, in his Hyannis Port home. He was 85.
He was the husband of Anne (Wigglesworth) Wright.
Mr. Wright was born in Boston and graduated from Harvard College in 1939.
After serving in the Army during World War II, he became a partner in Wright Brothers Wool, where he worked until the mid-1960s. He then joined Eliot Savings Bank as vice president, retiring in 1980.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Whitney P. Wright of Barnstable; two daughters, Lisa Wright of Corte Madera, Calif., and Fanny Moran of New Canaan, Conn.; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Tuesday at First Church of Dedham, Unitarian. A second service will be held in Hyannis Port next summer. Burial was private.
Memorial donations may be made to First Church of Dedham, Unitarian, 15 Court St., Dedham, MA 02026; or to Cape Cod Hospital, Hyannis, MA 02601.

Francis J. Allen

Osterville - Francis J. Allen, a resident of Osterville, died Nov. 28, 2001.
He was the husband of Marion E. "Mayna" Allen since 1973, and of Ferne Serface, who died in 1972.
Born and raised in Osterville, Mr. Allen attended Barnstable High School. He entered the Army in 1942 and achieved master sergeant rank. He married his first wife while stationed in Idaho.
In 1945, he returned to Osterville and worked as an electrician with Ames Electric, retiring in 1983.
He carved decoys, hunted and golfed.
Mr. Allen was a charter member of the Centerville Osterville Fire and Rescue.
Surviving besides his wife are four daughters, G. Jean Pessano and Mardee Brown, both of Ocean City, N.J., Beth Walters of Marmora, N.J., and Linda Witting of Cotuit; two sons, Carl Wolsieffer of Osterville and Eric Wolsieffer of Yarmouthport; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at John-Lawrence Funeral Home in Marstons Mills.
Burial was private.

Jeanne G. Carey, 73

Hyannis - Jeanne G. Carey, 73, of Hyannis, died Nov. 30, 2001, at her home.
She was the wife of the late Thomas A. Carey.
Mrs. Carey was born in Woburn. She had lived in Hyannis for the past 15 years, and was a Woburn resident for more than 58 years. She worked for 20 years as a secretary with Kevlan Manufacturing Co., and most recently was employed at the Barnstable County Senior Center, where she enjoyed her friends and colleagues.
Surviving are three daughters, Paula Kane of Litchfield, N.H., Kathleen Kelly of Woburn, and Ruthanne Morreo of Hyannis; four sons, Thomas C. Carey of Maynard, Timothy M. Carey of Chelmsford, Todd A. Carey of Mashpee, and Noel C. Carey of Centerville; two brothers, Daniel Sweeney of Woburn and Thomas Sweeney of Malden; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Charles Borromeo Church in Woburn, with burial in Calvary Cemetery there.

Thomas F. Carney, 71

Hyannis - Thomas F. Carney, 71, a resident of Hyannis, died Nov. 27, 2001, at Cape Cod Hospital Extended Care Pavilion in Hyannis.
He was the husband of Elizabeth (Marchand) Carney, who died in 1996.
Born, raised and educated in Glen Cove, Long Island, N.Y., Mr. Carney worked for many years as a salesman for the steel company, Armco, until moving to the Cape. He worked at the Registry of Deeds in Barnstable Town Hall for the last 20 years.
He enjoyed the companionship of his pet cat, Tubbs.
Surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, Edwin and Barbara Marchand; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial was held at St. Charles Roman Catholic Church in Waltham, with burial following in Calvary Cemetery there.
Memorial donations may be made to the MSPCA, 1577 Falmouth Road, Centerville, MA 02632

Lorraine B. Chaves, 58

Hyannis - Lorraine Beatrice (Marques) Chaves, 58, a resident of Hyannis, died Nov. 25, 2001, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis.
Born in Central Falls, R.I., Ms. Chaves was raised and educated in Rhode Island. She moved to the Cape in 1964 and lived here until her death.
Family was most important to Ms. Chaves.
She loved to spend time shopping with her sisters, especially yard sales and arts and craft stores. Her most prized possessions were her seven granddaughters, with whom she loved to spend time.
She loved sewing and created many keepsakes for her family.
She also enjoyed fishing and clamming.
Surviving are her parents, Augustine Marques and Doris L. (Lambert) Marques of Hyannis; a son, Raymond E. Walters of Centerville; two daughters, Melinda L. Walters of Falmouth and Jane E. Chaves of Pocasset; a brother, Augustine Marques Jr. of Mashpee; three sisters, Paulette A. Terrien of Pawtucket, R.I., Carol V. Frazier of Yarmouth and Donna F. Brehaut of Hyannis; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held in Doane, Beal and Ames Funeral Home in Hyannis.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 40 Speen St., P.O. Box 1221, Framingham, MA 01701; or to the charity of one's choice.

Albert E. Collis, 86

Hyannis - Albert E. Collis, 86, died Nov. 25, 2001, at Cape Cod Hospital Extended Care Pavilion in Hyannis.
He was the husband of Arlene M. Doughty of Amesbury, who died in 1968.
Born in Salisbury, Mr. Collis graduated from Massachusetts Nautical School (now known as Massachusetts Maritime Academy) in Buzzards Bay, where he later became an instructor.
He was a lieutenant commander in the Navy during World War II, fighting in the Battle of Leyte Gulf in October 1944, in Vice Adm. Thomas Kinkaid's 7th Fleet.
Mr. Collis resided in Newburyport, where he was a self-employed businessman with interests in antiques and rare coins.
Mr. Collis was elected to the Newburyport School Board in 1967. In 1971, he moved to Scottsdale, Ariz. He returned to New England in 1975, where he lived in Sanford, Maine, and Rowley, before moving to Cape Cod in 1998.
A 32nd degree Mason, Mr. Collis was a 50-year veteran of St. John's Lodge, AF&AM.
Surviving are a son, Thomas E. Collis of Marstons Mills; two daughters, Suzanne Collis of Haverhill and Linda Skovira of West Yarmouth; a brother, Stanley F. Collis of Cranberry Twp., Pa.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services were private.

Margaret Connolly, 90

Hyannis - Margaret (Coughlan) Connolly, 90, of Hyannis, died Nov. 23, 2001, at Cape Cod Hospital Extended Care Pavilion in Hyannis.
She was the wife of the late William Connolly.
Mrs. Connolly was born and raised in New Jersey. She graduated from All Souls Hospital Nursing School in Morristown, N.J., and was employed at the hospital for five years. She continued her education by becoming one of the first nurse anesthetists through Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia. She was a member of Twig at St. Peter's General Hospital in New Brunswick, N.J., for many years. She was also a homemaker who raised five children.
Mrs. Connolly resided in both East Brunswick and North Brunswick, N.J., prior to moving to Cape Cod. She was a parishioner of St. Bartholomew's Church in East Brunswick and a member of the North Brunswick Seniors.
She was an avid card player and especially liked to play bridge. She also enjoyed reading mysteries.
Surviving are two sons, Dr. William Connolly of Centerville and Gerard Connolly of Dublin, Ohio; three daughters, Doris Sommers of Melbourne, Fla., Dr. Phyllis M. Connolly of San Jose, Calif., and Patricia M. Connolly of Flanders, N.J.; a sister, Theresa VanRiper of Pennsylvania ; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville. Burial followed in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in that village.
