Alfred (Albert) Swanson, 94
Mansfield - Alfred (Albert) Swanson, 94, died Sunday evening, November 7, 2003 in Epoch of Norton Nursing Center, Norton.

He was the husband of the late Alma (Nielson), the late Evelyn (Aiken), and Ruth (Gould) Swanson of Mansfield and St. Pete Beach, FL for 24 years.

Born June 23, 1909 in Belmont, MA he was a son of the late Nils and Marie (Wilson) Swanson.

Mr. Swanson was stationed in the 26th Infantry division of the U.S. Army and was a WW II Veteran. He was awarded the Bronze Star.

After the war Mr. Swanson was employed by General Electric as a gear cutter for large ships for over 30 years.

He was a Masonic Member of the Corinthians Lodge in Lincoln, MA and a member of the Viking Club in Braintree, MA. He also enjoyed traveling.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter Gail Chouinard of WA; a son Robert Swanson of Bellingham; A sister Dorothy Montez of South America; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, November 18, 2003 in Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, MA at 10:30 a.m.

Alphonse R. Palardy, 84
North Attleboro - Alphonse R. Palardy, 84, of Chestnut Street died Sunday, October 26, 2003 in his home.

Born July 9, 1919 in Utica, NY, he was a son of the late Leopold and Olympia (Parent) Palardy.

He grew up in Central Falls, RI and attended Sacred Heart School. He then joined the U.S. Army and became a WWII veteran. After the war he moved to North Attleboro and has been a resident for over 50 years.

He was employed by the Mason Box Company for over 30 years before retiring. He enjoyed cooking, and his Boston Red Sox's.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Mark's Church, Stanley St.; Attleboro Falls, on Wednesday
October 29, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Attleboro Falls. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. There will be no procession from the funeral home.

Visiting hours will be private.

Albert Rabuffo, 76
North Attleboro- Albert Rabuffo, 76, of Donald Tennant Circle died Wednesday morning, October 22, 2003 in Sturdy Memorial Hospital, Attleboro.

He was the husband of Eleanor (Feroli) Rabuffo for 48 years.

Born April 12, 1927 in North Uxbridge, MA, he was a son of the late Julius and Dora (Alfonso) Rabuffo. Being brought up in North Uxbrige and attending North Uxbridge High he then entered into the Navy and was a War World II veteran. After the war he became a resident of North Attleboro for over 45 years.

Mr. Rabuffo was employed by Castellucci Company for over 25 years and Providence Granite for several years as a stone cutter. He enjoyed gardening and his lawn.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters Dolores Rabuffo and Mary Foley both of North Attleboro; two sons John Rabuffo of Norton and Joseph Rabuffo of North Attleboro. Two sisters Marguerite Mazzarelli of Milford and Julia Gresco of North Uxbridge; a brother Angelo Rabuffo of North Uxbridge. Three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Visitaion will be held Friday from 4-8 p.m.

A funeral will be held in the SPERRY & McHOUL FUNERAL HOME, 15 Grove St. North Attleboro on Saturday at 8:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mark's Church, Stanley St. at 9 O'clock. The Reverend Bruce Collard will officiate. Burial to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Attleboro Falls.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association; New England Affiliate, Inc.; 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701-4688

Lorraine Theresa Houde, 74
NORTH ATTLEBORO - Lorraine Theresa Houde, 74, of South Washington Street died Monday evening, October 20, 2003 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital, Attleboro.

She was the wife of Albert Houde.

Born April 30, 1929 in Taunton, she was a daughter of the late George and Maude (Arseneault) Boucher. A lifelong resident of North Attleboro, Mrs. Houde was a graduate of North Attleboro High School in 1947. She has been a winter resident of Golden Gate Park in Pinellas Park, FL for several years.

Mrs. Houde is a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart Church in North Attleboro and a member of the Daughters of Isabella, Saint Ann's Sodality and the Women's Club of Golden Gate Park. She was a homemaker and a retiree from the Robbins Company, Attleboro in 1991. She had previously worked at Univis Frame for eight years and Royal Hinge.

In addition to her husband, survivors include two daughters, Linda Lavendier of Plainville and Carol A. Gauthier of South Attleboro; two sons, Donald A. Houde and Peter W. Houde both of North Attleboro; four grandchildren, Stacy Lynn Beaulieu of Kansas, Shawn Roger Beaulieu of Texas , Melissa Bradley of Haverhill and Adam Bradley of South Attleboro.

A funeral will be held from the SPERRY & McHOUL FUNERAL HOME, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro on Friday at 8 a.m. followed by a Mass in Sacred Heart Church at 9 O'clock. The Reverend James Fitzpatrick will officiate. Burial to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Attleboro Falls.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

Carol Lynn Dufresne, 49
HORSE TRAINER
REHOBOTH - Carol Lynn Dufresne, 49, of Winter Street died Sunday evening, October 19, 2003 at the Attleboro Lifecare Center after many complications with diabetes.

Born February 23, 1954 in Attleboro, she was the beloved daughter of Barbara (Grant) Boostrom of Rehoboth and the late Sven Boostrom.

She has lived most of her life in Rehoboth and was a graduate of Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School in 1973. She attended Sonny Almeida's “Boots & Saddle” Horse club and shows for 19 years with her own horses. She also trained and showed her Blue Merle Austrian Shepard “Cheyenes Blue Lace” and won at many shows. Ms. Dufresne belonged to the Australian Shepard Club of America.

She attended four years of medical school at Barrington College studying to become a veterinarian and graduated from Ricky Kurtz Standard. Carol bred horses and drove them at the Foxboro Race track for many years and lived and worked with riding horses at Indian Head Stables in Uxbridge for 11 years before returning to Rehoboth to manage, train and breed 42 racehorses at Larimar Stables on Winter Street.

Ms. Dufresne was a certified technician for Dr. Amy Hurd at Bristol County Veterinarian Hospital in Seekonk and belonged to Horses & Adults and the Bristol County Horseman's Association.

Besides her mother, survivors include a brother, Leonard Dufresne of North Eastham and several nieces and nephews. She was sister of the late William Phinney, Jr. and Cheryl Tansey.

A funeral will be held in the SPERRY & McHOUL FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro on Thursday, October 23, 2003 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery & Arboretum, Attleboro Falls

Clarisse C. Hobson, 96
NORTH ATTLEBORO - Clarisse C. Hobson, 96, of May Street died Sunday morning, October 12, 2003 in Madonna Manor Nursing Home, North Attleboro. She was the wife of the late Joseph D. Hobson.

Born June 10, 1907 in Thompsonville, Connecticut, she was a daughter of the late Francis and Mary (Smith) Pouchot. Mrs. Hobson grew up in Thompsonville and lived several years in Central Falls, RI before moving to North Attleboro in July of 1936.

She was a past president of the Rhode Island Womens Council of Churches, a former Gray Lady at the Brockton VA Hospital for many years, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, North Attleboro.

Her survivors include three sons, Craig D. Hobson, MD of North Attleboro, Grant D. Hobson of Elizabeth, NJ and Jay D. Hobson of North Attleboro; 8 grandchildren, 14 great-granchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was sister of the late Eric, Osborne, Belfort, Jean, Olive, Edwin and Mary Pouchot.

A funeral will be held in the SPERRY & McHOUL FUNERAL HOME, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro on Thursday at 2 p.m. Rev. Linda Grenfell will officiate. Burial will follow in Moshassuck Cemetery, Central Falls, RI. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5 - 8 p.m.

William G. Ewert, 88
Dorchester - William G. Ewert, 88, on October 3, 2003 in his home.
He was the husband of the late Eileen A. (Corrigan) Ewert

and the late Phyllis Ewert & Eileen Ewert

A funeral will be held in the McHOUL FUNERAL HOME, 354 Adams Street, Dorchester on Monday at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass in St. Williams Church at 10 O'clock.

Alexander M. Taylor, 83
NORTH ATTLEBORO - Alexander M. Taylor, 83, of Bertram Road died Friday morning, October 3, 2003 in Madonna Manor Nursing Home. He was the husband of 60 years to Eileen (Lund) Taylor.

Born March 13, 1920 in Bellshill, Scotland, he was a son of the late David and Ada (Hughes) Taylor.

Mr. Taylor was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and owned and was president of New England Tap Co. in Foxboro for 34 years before retiring in 1988.

He was a graduate of Taunton High School in 1938 and has been active in planning class reunions for many years. He also attended Northeastern University in Boston. Mr. Taylor has been a resident of North Attleboro since 1952.

He was awarded the North Attleboro Rotary Club's Distinguished Service Award for Senior Citizen of the Year in 1991 and was a charter member of the Foxboro Rotary Club. He was a member of the Walpole Country Club, Life member of North Attleboro Lodge of Elks, BPOE #1011, member of the American Legion in North Attleboro and a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and several other professional organizations.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a sister, Margaret Elwell of St. Cloud, FL and two nephews, Frederick Elwell of St. Cloud, FL and David Elwell of Plymouth, a cousin Margaret of Scotland, and many other nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be held in the SPERRY & McHOUL FUNERAL HOME, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro on Monday, October 6, 2003 at 9 O'clock. Burial with Veterans Honors will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery & Arboretum. Visiting hours will be held Sunday from 2-5 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Madonna Manor Nursing Home, 85 North Washington Street, North Attleboro, MA 02760.

George J. Lemire, 82
Plainville - George J. Lemire, 82, of South St. died Wednesday, October 1, 2003 in Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Wrentham. He was the husband of Thelma (Wheeler) Lemire.

Born April 12, 1922 in North Attleboro, he was a son of the late Wilfred and Nora (Marcoullier) Lemire.

Mr. Lemire was raised in North Attleboro and was a graduate of North Attleboro High School. After High School he joined the Army Air Corp and was a WWII Veteran. After serving the military he resided in Plainville for over 50 years .

He was a Vice President and Sales Manager for Whitting & Davis for many years. He was a teacher at the Rhode Island Jewelry Institute and the Vice President of Fountain Head Technologies. He also was the owner of Aquatune Technologies which helped develop safe children pools. He was also a corporator for the Attleboro Savings Bank

Mr. Lemire was a member of the American Legion, Plainville Grange and the Grace Episcopal Chuch. He loved to travel, square dance and was an avid fisherman and gardner.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Gwendolyn Wiest of NY; and a son, Dr. Douglas Lemire of CA; a brother, Fred Lemire of Mansfield; and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours respectfully omitted.

A funeral will be held Friday, October 3, 2003 in the SPERRY & McHOUL FUENRAL HOME, 15 Grove St., North Attleboro at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow with Veterans Honors in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.

Ernest Y. Lemire, 67
New Bedford- Ernest Y. Lemire, formerly of North Attleboro on September 28, 2003 at age 67.

He was a son of the late Cleomaine Lemire and Yvonne (Nadeau) Bouvier

Brother of Jean Paul Lemieux,
Madeline Petelle,
and Anita LePage all of Canada.

Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be held from the SPERRY & MCHOUL FUNERAL HOME, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro on Wednesday at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass celebrated in Sacred Heart Church, Church Street, North Attleboro at 10 O'clock. Burial to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Attleboro Falls.
