Welch of Quincy, Leane Norton of Middleboro and Doreen Cavanaugh of West Bridgewater; brother of L. Kevin Welch of Wellesley, Richard M. Welch of North Carolina, David V. Welch and Matthew A. Welch, both of Easton, and Patricia Russell of Northfield; longtime companion of Anne Howard of Easton; also survived by several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A funeral will be held Friday at 9:15 a.m. from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 at the rotary circle), Whitman, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 in Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 p.m. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Whitman. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1115 West Chestnut St., Suite 301, Brockton 02301.

James J. Sr., of Stoughton, June 30, loving husband of Mary Dolores (Collins); devoted father of James J. Jr., Captain, Stoughton FD (and his wife Paula) of Stoughton, John E. "Jack" (and his wife Susan) of Milton, Mary Beth Meyer (and her husband Gerry) of Easton, Richard C. (and his wife Karen) of Middleboro and Paul C. (and his wife Kimberly) of Easton; brother of the late Mary Y. Welter; also survived by 10 grandchildren. Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rte. 27), Stoughton, on Wednesday at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at St. James Church, Stoughton, at 10. BICKERTON

Of Halifax, June 29, Judith Bickerton, age 41, mother of Meghan Brown of Halifax; daughter of Nancy D. (Gilchrist) Bickerton of Halifax and the late John J. Bickerton Jr.; sister of Ann M. Hackett of Pembroke, Mary Joubert of Tuftonboro, N.H., Carol Drew of Kingston, Maureen Sorenti of Sagamore, Diane Higgins of Whitman and Christine Peterson of Buford, Ga.; also survived by 17 nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass Saturday at 9 a.m. in Our Lady of the Lake Church, 580 Monponsett St. (Rte. 58), Halifax (Monponsett). Interment in Central Cemetery in Halifax. Visiting hours on Friday from 4-8 p.m. in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 2 Maquan St., at the corner of Rtes. 14 and 58, (across from Hanson Police Station), Hanson. BURKE

Catherine Mary (Tompkins), of Buzzards Bay, 84, on June 30, at home. Wife of the late Francis Burke, she is survived by her children, Barbara Brennan of Bourne, Mary Lyle-Mahoney of Essex, John Burke of Foxboro, Steven Burke of Abington, Catherine Jennett of Ocala, Fla., and Denise Calhoun of Sagamore Beach. She also leaves her brother, Harmon Tompkins of Lakeland, Fla., 22 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Mother of the late Joanne Callanan. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 1, at 1 p.m. at the Monadnock View Cemetery in Keene, N.H. There are no visit-ing hours. Arrangements made by the Richard Davis Funeral Homes of Plymouth and Manomet.

FARDIE

Lena C. (Perry), 81, of Bridgewater, June 28, 2004, wife of Norman E. Fardie; mother of Joan Gambill (and her husband William) of Bridgewater; sister of John, Albert and Alfred Perry, Louise Bumpus, Adaline Bumpus and Della Houlihan, all of Bridgewater, Isabel Majkut of Taunton, Mary LaPointe of East Taunton and the late Manuel and Tony Perry; also survived by her grandchildren, Tiffany Gambill of Bridgewater, Sabrina Gambill of the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., and William Gambill, stationed in North Carolina.

Funeral from the Prophett Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St. (Rte. 18), Bridgewater, at 8 a.m. Friday, followed by a funeral Mass in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Bridgewater, at 9. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 p.m. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater.

FREEMAN

Charles A. Freeman Jr., born Oct. 3, 1923, to Charles and Wilma Freeman in Taunton, died June 23, 2004. He graduated from Howard High School, West Bridgewater, in 1942, and served as a gunner's mate during World War II aboard the destroyer USS Osmond Ingram in the North Atlantic and Europe. He founded The Old Homestead Rug Co. in 1946 and was active as president and manager through 1977. He served his community as a member of the West Bridgewater Finance Committee, the WB Appeals Board and WB Unitarian Congregational Church; director of WB Savings Bank; president of Brockton Rotary Club and chancellor and commodore of Howard Lodge, Knights of Pythias. He retired to Stuart, Fla., with his wife Jean in 1978 and was active in the Stuart Congregational United Church of Christ and the Martin County Golf and County Club. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years; sons, C. Andrew Freeman of Cohasset, Robert Freeman and wife Rebecca of Jensen Beach, Fla.; granddaughters, Patricia Cassady and husband David of Middleboro, Jennifer Freeman of Lakeland, Fla.; grandson, Andrew Freeman of Jensen Beach; and great-grandsons, Julian and Alexander Cassady of Middleboro. A memorial service will be held today in Stuart. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Stuart Congregational United Church of Christ, 3110 SE Aster Lane, Stuart, FL 34994.

GAFFNEY

Marion E. (McEachern), of Randolph, after a brief illness, June 30, 2004, wife of the late Paul J. Gaffney; loving mother of Lawrence E. Gaffney (and his wife Gail) of Middleboro, Jean M. Smith of Wareham and Paul P. Gaffney of Virginia; also survived by two grandchildren. Reposing at the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 North Main St. (Rte. 28), Randolph, until 9 a.m. Saturday, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 in St. Bernadette Church, Randolph. Of Kingston, formerly of Lady Lake, Fla., and Pembroke, June 28, Eugene B. Sr., husband of Ruth G. (Sargent) Haen; father of Eugene B. Haen Jr., Robert R. Haen, Dennis M. Haen and Ernest Haen, all of Pembroke, Thomas C. Haen of Halifax, Richard D. Haen of Boston, Ronald E. Haen of Kingston, Ruth G. Flood of Pembroke, Dorinda L. Stewart of Kingston, the late Jeffrey Haen and the late Paul Haen; also survived by 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral service Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington St., Rte. 53, Hanover. Interment will be at a later date in Pembroke Center Cemetery. Donald J. Klos, of Easton, formerly of Sharon, June 29, at age 57, loving son of the late John "Stan" Klos and Agnes (Wrigley) Klos; brother of Robert Klos of Foxboro, Edward Klos of Sharon, Donna Price of Hooksett, N.H., Deborah O'Sullivan of Manchester, N.H., and the late Richard Klos; also survived by seven nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Joseph P. Keating Funeral Home, 46 South Main St., Sharon, on Friday, July 2, at 10:15 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass in Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Cottage Street, Sharon, at 11. Formerly of Canton and Easton, June 29, 2004, Claudia ( LeBlanc ); wife of the late William Landry; mother of Roger J. Landry of Hingham, William F. Landry of Taunton, Dora M. Aldred of Hyde Park and the late Helen G Romaine; sister of Clara Marie Vaillancourt of Quebec, Canada; predeceased by several brothers and sisters; also survived by 18 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Levesque, U.S. Army, of Oklahoma and Adam C. Levesque of Middleboro; grandfather of Jacob Levesque, Abrianna Murphy Levesque, Erin Levesque and Katelyn Levesque, all of Middleboro; brother of Marie Hamel of Plymouth and the late Maurice "Pepe" Levesque; son of the late August and Rose (LaPlante) Levesque. Ann F. (Collins), of Randolph, June 27, 2004, beloved wife of the late Ralph E. Mann; loving mother of Paul Mann of Greenfield, Robert Mann of Plymouth, Ralph Mann of Randolph and Richard Mann of Weymouth; also survived by four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
