Dorothy Hebert age 75 years passed away Monday July 21 at the West Acres Nursing Home in Brockton. She is survived by her siblings, Lorraine Naujalis, William St. George, Justine Conti, Dominic Pasquarosa and Diane Torchio. As well as her nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 5-7 pm in the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 647 Main St., Brockton, MA. A funeral service will follow the hours at 7:00 pm. Interment will be at a later date in Highland Cemetery, Norwood, MA.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 4047, Brockton, MA 02303 or The Standish Humane Society, 622 Congress St., Duxbury, MA 02332.

Barbara L. Southworth

Barbara L. Southworth age 88 years of Brockton, MA died July 28, 2008 at Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton.
Born Wednesday, December 3, 1919 in Brockton she was the daughter of the late Ernest C. and Louise H. (Thayer) Southworth.
Barbara was a 1937 graduate of Brockton High School and a 1939 graduate of Burdett College and had been a life long resident of Brockton. Prior to retirement in 1982 she was employed by the Continental Insurance Co. She was a member of the En Ami Club at Christ Congregational Church and has given many years, volunteering at the former Goddard Hospital and most recently at Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center. She was also a 75-year member of Christ Congregational Church.
She is survived by a brother Marcus C. Southworth of Brockton; her nieces and nephews Paula LeBlanc and her husband William of E. Bridgewater, Richard Southworth and his wife Irma of Canton, Cathy Vickers and her husband Charles of NC, Carol Nugent and her husband Bobby of NC, Amy Chandler and her husband Tom of NC and Jean Maness and her husband John of FL; a lifelong friend Marjorie Hall of Easton and many great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Russell E. Southworth and Frederick E. Southworth and the aunt of the late David Southworth.
A funeral service will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM in Christ Congregational Church, 1350 Pleasant St. Brockton, MA, 02301. Visitation will take place on Thursday from 5-8 PM in the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 647 Main St., Brockton, MA.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given to Christ Congregational Church Building Fund.

Richard B. “Rick” Matheson

Richard B. “Rick” Matheson age 71 of Lakeville, MA died Saturday, July 26, 2008 after a period of failing health. He was the loving husband of Elizabeth A. “Bette” (Hatch) Matheson of 45 years.
Born Friday, November 13, 1936 in Middleboro, MA he was the son of the late Burton H. and Georgena M (Card) Matheson.
Rick was a graduate of Middleboro High School and served in the U.S. Navy. He had lived in Middleboro for many years and in Lakeville for the past 25 years. He worked for the former Maxim Motors, for FootJoy and had retired from the Town of Middleboro light department. He was a former volunteer fireman in Middleboro, a member of the Middleboro Lodge of Elks #1274 and a member of the Mitchell Club in Middleboro. He enjoyed golf and most of all his family and friends enjoying papa’s pool.
In addition to his wife Elizabeth “Bette” he is survived by a son Michael B. Matheson and his wife Karen J. of Bridgewater, MA; a daughter Tracey A. (Matheson) Keif and her husband Stephen of Lakeville; six grandchildren Daniel Matheson, Joshua Matheson, Jenna Matheson, Megan Keif, Sarah Keif and Rachel Keif; his dog Sophie and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also the brother of the late Rochelle DeCaro.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM in the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 280 Bedford St. Lakeville, MA. Interment will follow at the Cemetery at the Green. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, 5-8 PM.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given to the Children’s Tumor Foundation, 275 Grove St. 200-4, Newton, MA 02467 or to the American Cancer of Massachusetts, 1115 West Chestnut St., Brockton, MA 02301.

Shawn “Frankie” Lafond

Shawn “Frankie” Lafond age 34 years of Lakeville, MA died Thursday, July 3, 2008 at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA after a 15-month illness. He was born Monday, November 12, 1973 in Littleton, NH and was the loving husband of Joanne (Douglas) Lafond.
Shawn was an avid NASCAR fan with Jeff Gordon #24 his favorite.
In addition to his wife Joanne he is survived by his mother Roseanne Lafond of NH; 2 children Dakotta Lafond of Lakeville and Brianna Ash of NH; 2 step children Joseph and Daniella Fasano of Lakeville; a brother Ronald Lafond of NH; a sister Michelle Briggs of NH; his grandmother Nancy Davis of MA and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on July 19, 2008 at 11:00 AM in Christ Congregational Church, 1350 Pleasant St. Brockton, MA (www.brocktonucc.org). Memorial visitation will take place 1 hour before the service (10-11 AM) at the Church. A collation will follow the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given to the Church Building Fund, Christ Congregational Church, 1350 Pleasant St. Brockton, MA 02301.

Herbert Freeman “Herb” Scudder

Herbert Freeman “Herb” Scudder age 82 years of West Bridgewater, MA died Monday, July 14, 2008 at Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital in Brockton after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Doris A. (Pratt) Scudder.
Born Wednesday, April 21, 1926 in Brockton he was the son of the late Howard and Ruth (Hamilton) Scudder.
Herb was a 1944 graduate of Brockton High School and a graduate of Williams Business School formerly in Brockton. He served as a Sergeant in US Army Air Force during WW II and was the former co-owner of Scudder Brothers Fuel Company, Inc. He was a member of the American Legion and a member of the Scudder Association.
In addition to his wife Doris of 49 years he is survived by a son Glenn F. Scudder and his wife Cynthia of East Bridgewater; a daughter Brenda R. Tekin of Bridgewater; seven grandchildren Alex Scudder, Caity Scudder, Jenny Scudder, Matthew Scudder, Diana Tekin, Daniel Tekin and Souzy Tekin; a brother Davis H. Scudder of Brockton and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2008 at 10:00 AM in the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, Chapel for all Faiths, 647 Main St. Brockton, MA. Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery in West Bridgewater, MA. Visitation will take place on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM.

Donna Marie Thrasher

Donna Marie Thrasher age 45 years passed away unexpectedly Monday July 28 at her son’s home in Norwood.
Born in Brockton she was the daughter of the late Ralph N. Thrasher and Frances E. (Carrico) Rosanna of Brockton. Donna was a life long resident of the city of Brockton. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who thoroughly enjoyed watching her grandchildren daily and was looking forward to the arrival of her third grandchild.
In addition to her mother she is survived by a daughter, Christina Lee Thrasher of Raynham, a son, Christopher M. Thrasher and his fiancé Kelli Mulkern of Norwood, two grandchildren, Brianna Thrasher and McKayla Thrasher, three sisters, Diane Kundrot of Stoughton, Deborah Feist of Brockton, Judy Dean of Brockton, a brother, Mark Smith of Whitman and a step brother, Matthew Rosanna of Brockton. As well as several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday August 5th at 7:00 pm in the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 647 Main St., Brockton, MA.
Memorial visitation will take place prior to the service from 5- 7 pm.

Gerald P. “Jerry” Brown
Visitation: Wednesday, August 4, 2010, 4-7 PM
Gerald P. “Jerry” Brown age 66 years passed away unexpectedly Saturday July 31st at home. He was the husband of Brenda J. (Miller) Brown of Abington.
Born in Boston he was the son of the late Christopher J. and Marie E. (Linholm) Brown. Jerry was raised in Norwood and had been a resident of Abington for the past 15 years. He was employed by the Bradford RV Center in Brockton for several years from which he retired.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a son; Matthew L. Brown, two step grandchildren, Erica and Kayla Miller and a step great grandson, Brody Miller. His stepson, Scott W. Miller, preceded him in death.
Visitation ONLY will be held on Wednesday August 4th from 4-7 pm in the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 647 Main St., Brockton, MA.
There will be no additional services. Interment will be at a later date in Central Cemetery, Randolph, MA.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given to: The American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.

Rose T. (Cause) Vella

At: St. Edith Stein Parish, Brockton, MA
Rose T. (Cause) Vella age 83 years passed away Friday at Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital. She was the wife of the late Salvatore Vella and the mother of the late Frank A. Vella.
Born and raised in Chelsea, MA she was the daughter of the late Francisco and Josephine (Gardino) Cause. Rose had been a resident of the city of Brockton for the past 50 years. She was also a long time devoted member of the former St. Margaret’s Church in Brockton.
She is survived by a daughter, Catherine M. Kelley of Stoughton; a son, Joseph A. Vella of Brockton and three grandchildren, Joseph M. Vella, Brianna L. Vella and Carolyn R. Kelley and many nieces and nephews. Her siblings, James Cause, Joseph Cause and Mary Luizza, predeceased her.
A funeral service will begin on Wednesday September 1st at 9:00 am in the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 647 Main St., Brockton, MA, followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 am at St. Edith Stein Parish, 71 E. Main St., Brockton, MA. Interment will follow in Melrose Cemetery, Pearl St., Brockton.
Visitation will be on Tuesday August 31st from 4 ~ 8 pm.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given to: Rose Vella Charitable Fund, C/O Sovereign Bank, 25 Torrey St., Brockton, MA 02301.
