Barbara G. Sheehan
September 18, 1918 - August 31, 2006

Barbara G. (Felt) Sheehan, 87, of Concord died Thursday, August 31, 2006 at her daughter's home in Lowell. She was the wife of the late Edward F. Sheehan and the late Frank R. Viscariello.

Born in Newton on September 18, 1918 she was the daughter of the late George A. and Flora S. (Boyd) Felt. She spent her youth in Florida and later attended Waltham public schools and Waltham high school. She was a bookkeeper at the Waltham Sales Book Company.

During World War II, she was a nurses aid at Emerson Hospital in Concord. During the 1960's and early 1970's, she was a sales clerk at the Paint Pot in Concord.

A Concord resident since 1940, she was a longtime member and Past President of the West Concord Women's Club. An avid reader, she also enjoyed gardening, knitting and sewing.

Survivors include 1 daughter, Kathleen Myers and her husband Scott J. of Lowell, Step-children, Ralph Viscariello and his wife Dawn, Paul Viscariello and his wife Meredith, Jean Viscariello and Diane Leslie, Grandchildren, Amanda Coughlin and her husband David, Heather Temple, Sarah Patterson and her husband Daniel, Elizabeth Temple and Russel Temple, several step-grandchildren, many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces nephews, step-nieces and nephews.

Funeral Monday, September 4th from the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord center at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord Center at 10 AM.

Visiting hours will be on Sunday, September 3rd at the Dee Funeral Home from 2 to 6 PM.

Mr. Romeo DiCicco
March 09, 1910 - February 02, 2006

Romeo DiCicco, 95 , of Concord died Thursday February 2, 2006 at Rivercrest-Deaconess Home in Concord. He was the beloved husband of sixty-nine years of Sophie A. (Matucieski) DiCicco.

Born in Concord on March 9, 1910, he attended Concord schools and was a 1928 graduate of Concord High School. An excellent athlete, he lettered in varsity football and track in High School and later played football for the Concord Yankees, the Concord Towne Team during the 1930’s.

Mr. DiCicco retired in 1983 as vice-president of E. A. Shaw Cotton Co. in Boston, after over fifty years of employment with the firm.

A lifelong Concord resident, he served on the Town of Concord Finance Committee, on the Board of Directors at Emerson Hospital in Concord and was a lifelong communicant of St. Bernard’s and Holy Family Parishes in Concord. He was a member of the former Holy Name Society and former Concord Council Knights of Columbus #287, both in Concord.

In 1950, Mr. DiCicco was one of the founders of the Concord Little League and was a volunteer for several years with Little League as well as with the Concord Boy Scouts.

In addition to his wife Sophie, survivors include his daughter, Elaine DiCicco of Concord; his son Peter DiCicco and his wife Mona of Acton; his two grandchildren, Stacey DiCicco of San Francisco, California and Ryan DiCicco of Brighton and his sister Flora DiCicco and his brother Tripoli DiCicco, both of Concord. He also leaves several nieces and nephews and was the brother of the late Roger and Minotti DiCicco and Melba Manero.

Funeral will be held Tuesday February 7th from the Joseph Dee & Son Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center at 9 am followed by a funeral Mass in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord at 10 am.

Interment will follow in St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Concord.

Visiting hours at the Dee Funeral Home will be on Sunday February 5th from 2 to 4 pm and Monday February 6th from 3 to 7 pm.

Thomas J. McCarthy Jr.
February 28, 1933 - April 11, 2006

Thomas J. McCarthy, Jr., 73, of Maynard, MA and Palm City, Florida died April 11, 2006 at Martin Memorial Medical Center in Stuart, Florida. He was the husband of Takouhi (Mangasarian) McCarthy.

Born in Boston on February 28, 1933 he was the son of the late Thomas J. McCarthy, Sr. and Katherine (Kellett) McCarthy. He attended St. Catherine’s School in Charlestown and graduated from Charlestown High School. He graduated from Boston College in 1954, Boston College Law School in 1961 and Boston University in 1991 where he received a Master of Law in taxation.

During the Korean Conflict, he served as a First Lieutenant in the U. S. Army.

For thirty-three years, prior to his retirement in 1989, Mr. McCarthy was employed as a Manufacturing Executive at Gillette Company in Boston. From 1973 to 1976, he was Vice President of Manufacturing for Papermate, a division of Gillette, in California. He also worked in Brazil and Spain.

Following his retirement from Gillette Company, he opened a private law practice in Maynard, MA with his daughter, Susan. He retired from private practice in 1995.

He was a resident of Maynard since 1987, previously he lived in Concord, Massachusetts and Palos Verdes, California. He enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Nashawtuc Country Club in Concord and Monarch Country Club in Palm City, Florida.

In addition to his wife, Takouhi, he is survived by 2 daughters, Karen Vargo of Southborough and Susan McCarthy of Sudbury, 1 son, Thomas “Todd” J. McCarthy, III of West Newton, 11 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late James McCarthy and Patricia Burke.

Funeral will be held on Thursday, April 20th at 9 AM from the Joseph Dee & Son Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, CONCORD CENTER followed by a funeral Mass in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord Center at 10 AM.

Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, Maynard.

Visiting hours at the Dee Funeral Home will be held on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM.

Dorothy B. Phelps
June 16, 1926 - February 17, 2006

Dorothy B. Phelps, formerly of Orange, CT, died in Bedford, MA on February 17 after a long illness. She was pre-deceased by her parents Florence and Archie Balsiger and her sister Marie Maselli. She was the devoted wife of Paul G. Phelps, beloved mother of Susan Phelps and her husband Robert Adams of Acton, MA, Robert G. Phelps and his wife Laura of Menlo Park, CA and Nancy Phelps of Wallingford and cherished grandmother of Laura Phipps and Daniel and Corinne Adams. She is also survived by her sister, Mrs. John Foley (Ruby) of Newton, MA and several nieces and nephews. She resided in Orange for 45 years where she was a founder of the Orangewood Women’s Club and owned Garfield Galleries with her husband. They moved to Carleton Willard Village in Bedford in September, 2004. Services are to be held at the Orange Congregational Church on Thursday Feb. 23 at 12 Noon followed by interment at the Orange Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Carleton Willard Village, 100 Old Billerica Rd., Bedford, MA 01730, Attention: Messenger Scholarship Fund or to Mystic Seaport Annual Fund, P. O. Box 6000, 75 Greenmanville Ave, Mystic, CT 06355-0990.

Laura Mary Sheehan
December 04, 1921 - March 07, 2006

Laura M. (Valmus) Sheehan, 84, of Concord, died Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at Rivercrest Nursing Home in Concord. She was the beloved wife of the late John E. Sheehan who died on March 7, 2002.

Born in Hudson on December 4, 1921 she was the daughter of the late Edward and Antonia (Ragovska) Valmus. She attended Hudson parochial schools, graduated in 1938 from St. Michael’s Academy and in 1940 from Bryant and Stratton Business School in Boston. She was married in St. Michael’s Church in 1947.

For many years, Mrs. Sheehan worked as an accountant in the Boston area. During the 1960’s, she worked as a sales clerk at J. P. Nourse Clothing Store in Concord. During her younger years, she played the piano and was a wedding singer.

A resident of Concord since 1952, she was a longtime communicant of the former Our Lady Help of Christians Church in West Concord, and a member of the Concord Women’s Club.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Kathleen A. Vecchio and her husband James of Concord and Laura M. Moreau of Concord, 3 grandchildren, Heather A. Provencal and her husband Mark, of Orlando, Florida, Veronica L. Noecker and her husband Christopher, of Denver, Colorado and Daniel J. Vecchio of Somerville.

Marie K. Resch - (The Brosnans)
August 03, 1930 - April 16, 2007

Marie Katherine Resch, 76, died Monday April 16, 2007 at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Brighton.

Born in Trenton, New Jersey on August 3, 1930 she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Julia (Horn) Resch. She attended St. Stephen’s Parish School in Trenton, was a graduate of Cathedral High School in Trenton and later attended Ryder College in Lawrenceville, New Jersey.

A long time employee in financial services at several publishing companies, she began her career with McGraw-Hill in New York City and later served as Director of Financial Services at Holt-Rinehart and Winston in New York City and at Lea & Febiger in Philadelphia.

She moved to Newton, Mass. in 1991 to live closer to her grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter Deborah Ann Brosnan and her husband Michael, both of Westford and her grandchildren, Aaron, Taryn and Ethan Brosnan, all of Westford. Marie is also survived by a brother, Richard Resch and his wife Paula of Hamden, Connecticut and their children, Stephen and Elise.

A visitation will be held on Thursday April 19th from 10 to 11 am in St. Irene’s Church, 181 East Street, Carlisle followed by a funeral Mass in St. Irene’s Church at 11 am.

Interment will follow the funeral Mass in St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Bedford Street, (Rte. 62) Concord, Mass.

Following the cemetery interment services, the family cordially invites you to join them at a reception, to be held beginning at approximately 1 P.M. in the Colonial Inn, Monument Square, Concord Center.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to American Diabetes Association, 33 Congress St., 5th floor, Boston, MA 02210 or to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445.

Arrangements are under the care of Dee Funeral Home of Concord, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center.
