Mara Maizitis
MAIZITIS, Mara, Age 74, of Lexington, passed away Saturday, September 16, 2006 at Lahey Clinic Medical Center. Born January 18, 1932 in Riga, Latvia, she was the daughter of the late Augusts and Erika (Lielnors) Maizitis. Raised the first 12 years of her life in Latvia, Ms. Maizitis and her family fled from her native country during the Russian Army takeover in WWII. They spent the next four years in a United Nations Displaced Persons Camp in Mannheim, Germany. The Maizitis family immigrated to the United States in 1948. Ms. Maizitis was educated at Wellesley College and received a PhD in English Literature from Yale University. She was a professor of English at Connecticut College for Women, and also at Temple University, University of California at Santa Barbara, and Bennington College in Vermont. After her retirement she lived with her sister in Lexington. She is survived by two sisters, Ilze Olmsted of Lexington and Laimdota Maizitis of Dublin, CA; a nephew, John Olmsted of Lancaster, PA; her brother-in-laws, Hugh Olmsted and William McCauley; and her students. Funeral service and interment private.

Alva Morrison, Jr.
MORRISON, Alva Jr., Age 86, of Concord, Sept. 15, 2006. Husband of Erica Morrison (Van Wassenaer). Father of Sylvia of Medford, Alva III of Dixon, NM, Abigail of Rockland, ME, Christine Bay of CA, and Virginia of Medford. Also survived by 3 grandchildren. Leonard G. Moss
MOSS, Leonard G., of Lincoln, MA, died Wednesday, September 13, at his home. Born in Baltimore MD in 1918, he was a violinist with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the New York Opera Company, the New York Ballet Theatre, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, where he retired in 1996 after 43 years. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Frances S. Moss (Rossi); his son Philip N. Moss and his wife Jane of Lincoln, MA; his daughter Carol S.Van Cott and her husband Kevin of Park Forest, Illinois; and his two grandchildren, Matthew F. Moss of Eugene, OR, and Ann W. Moss of Berkeley, CA. Memorial Service to be held on Saturday, October 28, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. at The First Parish in Lincoln. Relatives and friends kindly invited. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the name of Leonard G. Moss to The Boston Symphony Orchestra, Project STEP, 301 Mass Ave., Symphony Hall, Boston, MA 02115. WWII U. S. Army Veteran.

Kidder and his wife Nancy of Concord and the late John N. & Henry P. Kidder, Jr. Sister in law of Wm. Whitney Shane and his wife Claas of Prunedale, CA, Charlotte K.
