Norine M. Moriarty

Member Telephone Pioneers of America

A Funeral Mass for Norine Marie (McLucas) Moriarty will be celebrated on Monday, October 22, 2001, in the Church of Saint Patrick, 212 Main St., Watertown.

Mrs. Moriarty was born in Watertown, on January 4, 1919, a daughter of Frank W. and Mary (O’Brien) Moriarty. She was a lifelong Watertown resident and a graduate of Saint Patrick High School, Class of 1935.

She was a lifelong parishioner at Saint Patrick Parish and had retired from New England Telephone in 1981 after 26 years with the company. Mrs. Moriarty had retired as an Accounting Manager and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.

She died on Thursday, October 18, 2001 in the Newton-Wellesley Hospital after an acute myocardial infarction. She was 83 years old.

She leaves five children: Richard F. Moriarty of Mashpee, Kevin D. Moriarty of Westborough, Mary E. Thompson of Naples, FL., Michael J. Moriarty of Waltham and Norine M. Beatty of Watertown; a sister, Louise A. Downing; 12 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Richard F. Moriarty who died in September 1983; two brothers: F. Williard McLucas and Henry McLucas; and a sister, Josephine McLucas.

The Funeral will be from the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home at 270 Main St., on Rte. 20, Watertown, on Monday at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 o'clock in the Church of St. Patrick. Interment will follow in the family lot in Calvary Cemetery Waltham.

Calling hours will be on Sunday, October 21, from 3-7 PM in the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald on Main St., Watertown. Relatives and friends kindly invited.

Julio J. Caruso

Retiree, First National Grocery Stores

A Funeral Mass for Julio J. Caruso will be celebrated on Saturday, December 15, 2001, in the Church of Saint Patrick, Watertown.

Mr. Caruso was born in Brighton, on October 17, 1918, a son of Thomas and Rose (Mongiovi) Caruso. He was a graduate of Saint Columbkille High School, Brighton and has lived in Watertown since the 1950s. Mr. Caruso took an early retirement in 1982 from the First National Grocery Stores.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and served in Tunisia, Naples Foggia, Rhineland, Central Europe, Rome and Arno campaigns and battles. He was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon and was honorably discharged at the end of the war as a Technician 5th Grade.

Mr. Caruso was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Waverly Post in Belmont and the 209th Coast Artillery (AA) Veterans Association. For was a member of the St. Columbkille Alumni Association and served as Secretary and Treasurer of the organization and participated in fundraising and social events.

He died on Wednesday, December 12, 2001, in the Mount Auburn Hospital, Cambridge, after a brief illness. He was 83 years old.

He leaves two brothers: Henry P. Caruso of West Yarmouth and Thomas J. Caruso of Waltham; three sisters: Theresa DiGiovanni of Belmont, Mary DeFazio of Naples, FL and Anne Tobio of Watertown; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by five brothers: Nicholas Caruso, Dominic Caruso, Bernard Caruso, Francis Caruso and Robert Caruso; and by a sister Helen Nicolas.

The Funeral will be from the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home at 270 Main St., on Rte. 20, Watertown, on Saturday at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 o'clock in the Church of St. Patrick, 212 Main St., Watertown. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.

Calling hours will be on Friday, December 14th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home on Main St., Watertown. Relatives and friends kindly invited to attend.

Sheila Marie Hogan

Head Teller, Cambridge Trust Company

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday December 123, 2001 for Mrs. Sheila Marie Hogan. Mrs. Hogan was born in Watertown, a daughter of the late Thomas D. and Helen M. (Shine), and has been a lifelong Watertown resident. She was a 1960 graduate of Watertown High School. She had worked in banking for 28 years with the Harvard Trust and Merchants Bank and for the past 6 years she was the head teller with the Cambridge Trust Company in Cambridge. She summered in York Beach, Maine, an area she loved very much. Mrs. Hogan died on Sunday December 9, 2001 at her residence at the age of 59.

She is the loving wife of Edward J. Hogan of Watertown and sister of Ellen D. Smith of Framingham and the late Carol A. Barche. She is also survived by 26 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held from the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home in WATERTOWN SQUARE at 6 Riverside St. (cnr. of No. Beacon St.) Watertown on Wednesday at 9:30 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 O’Clock in the Church of St. Patrick, 212 Main St. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Mabel H. Burns

A Graveside Service for Mabel Helen (Sheehan) Burns will be held on Friday, June 7, 2002, at 11 AM in the Holy Family Cemetery, 116 Center Ave., Rockland.

Mrs. Burns was born in Charlestown, on February 16, 1911, a daughter of Timothy and Lillian F. (Willard) Sheehan. She graduated from St. Catherine Grammar School and from St. Mary High School, both in Charlestown.

Mrs. Burns, a former Prefect of the Ladies Sodality of St. Catherine of Siena Parish, had been an active supporter of the Maryknoll Missions especially those in Africa. Mrs. Burns was a former employee of New England Telephone and Telegraph Company. She died in the Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation Center in Newton, on Wednesday, June 5, 2002, after a long illness.

She was the wife of the late William Edward Burns who died in September of 1970; mother of Mabel C. “Sissy” Burns of Quincy, John P. Burns of Watertown, William E. Burns of Rochester, NH, Francis J. Burns of Watertown, Lillian Vittoria of Woburn and Robert J. Burns of Gardner. She also leaves 20 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Calling hours will be on Thursday, June 6th from 4-8 PM in the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home at 270 Main St., on Rte. 20, Watertown. Relatives and friends kindly invited to attend.

Virginia M. Fee

Teachers Aide for Handicapped Children

A Funeral Mass for Virginia Marie (Nugent) Fee will be celebrated on Friday, May 31, 2002 in the Church of Saint Patrick, Watertown.

Mrs. Fee was born in Boston, on March 11, 1922, the daughter of Andrew and Mary Theresa (Kelly) Nugent. She graduated from the City of Boston School of Practical Arts in 1941 and had been a model for many years during the 1940s, often featured in the clothing brochures and newspaper advertisements for Filene’s and Jordan Marsh.

She enjoyed sewing and knitting and every Christmas her family received mittens, hats, and sweaters. Mrs. Fee was a Teachers Aide for developmentally disabled children for the City of Boston Public Schools, and for many years was at the Jackson-Mann School in Brighton until she retired in the early 1980’s.

Mrs. Fee lived most of her life in Watertown and died at her residence on Sunday, May 26, 2002, after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. She was 80 years old.

She leaves her husband of 45 years, Charles E. Fee; a son and his wife: Michael C. Fee and Michele Fee Smith of Sudbury; two grandchildren: Natasha E. Fee and Alexi K. Fee of Sudbury; and a brother, John D. Nugent of Hampton Beach, N.H., as well as many close cousins, nephews and nieces.

The Funeral will be from the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home at 270 Main St., on Rte. 20, Watertown, on Friday May 31, 2002 at 8:00 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:00 o'clock in the Church of St. Patrick, 212 Main St., Watertown. Interment will follow immediately at Calvary Cemetery in Waltham.

Calling hours will be on Thursday, May 30, 2002 from 4-8 PM in the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home on Main Street. Relatives and friends kindly invited to attend.

Helen B. Ford

Retired Employee Western Electric

Funeral Services will be held on Monday June 3, 2002 for Mrs. Helen B. (Barrett) Ford. Mrs. Ford was born in Boston a daughter of the late James P. and Elizabeth A. (Murphy) Ford. She grew up in Watertown, attending Watertown High School for three years, then graduating from Cambridge Latin when her family moved to Cambridge for a short time. She had been employed as a Secretary at the Hood Rubber Company formerly of Watertown, later joining the Western Electric Company (Nynex) formerly of Watertown, remaining until her retirement. She was a longtime member of the St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Parish, where she was married and remained in the parish until its closing. Mrs. Ford died on Friday, May 31, 2002 at the Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge at the age of 84.

She was the wife of the late Patrick B. Ford, former Selectman for the Town of Watertown, and is survived by five children and their spouses: Brian P. and his wife Virginia Ford of Clifton Park, NY, Robert M. and his wife Mary Ford of Andover, Mrs. Patricia A. Plummer and her husband Lawrence Plummer of Needham, David P. and his wife Lynn Ford of Watertown and Mrs. Debra J. Mondello and her husband Jay Mondello of Bedford. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She is the sister of James P. Barrett, Jr. of Plymouth, George Barrett of Hyannis, Robert Barrett of Marlboro, Philip Barrett, Carol A. Dennis and Joanne M. Hallsworth all of Watertown, and the late Charles T. Barrett and the late Lillian Barrett.

Funeral Services will be held from the MacDonald Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home in WATERTOWN SQUARE at 6 Riverside St. (cnr. of No. Beacon St.) Watertown on Monday at 9:30 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 O’clock in the Church of St. Patrick 212 Main St. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Visiting hours Sunday 4-8 PM.

Genevieve M. Menton

Former Watertown Resident

Funeral Services will be held on Friday May 31, 2002 for Mrs. Genevieve M. Menton. Mrs. Menton was born in Cambridge, a daughter of the late Thomas and Helen (Cassidy) Roche. She grew up in Newton and was a graduate of Newton High School. She had been a Watertown resident for over 40 years and has resided in Waltham since 1993. Mrs. Menton died on Monday May 27, 2002 at the Mount Auburn Hospital at the age of 73.

She was the wife of the late Thomas C. Menton, a former attorney in Watertown; mother of Thomas P., Maureen M. Hogan and Dace M. all of Watertown, Patrick A. of Medway, Mark of Derry, NH and John J., Maryann J. Callahan and Lynne A. Menton-Brennan all of Waltham. She was also survived by 8 grandchildren; three sisters: Louise Nugent of Watertown, Helen Powers of Weston and Diane Kruger of Framingham and a brother Maurice Roche of Newton. She was predeceased by a brother Thomas Roche.

Funeral Services will be held from the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home in WATERTOWN SQUARE at 6 Riverside St. (cnr. of No. Beacon St.) Watertown on Friday at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:00 O’Clock in the Our Lady comforter of the Afflicted Church, 857 Trapelo Rd. Waltham. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment Ridgelawn Cemetery. Visiting hours Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 PM.

Wayne S. Young

Real Estate Manager

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday June 1, 2002 for Mr. Wayne S. Young. Mr. Young was born in Cambridge, a son of the late Joseph D. and Mildred (McDermott) Young. He was a graduate of Watertown High School and spent many years working as a manager in Real Estate. He died suddenly on Saturday May 25, 2002 at the age of 52.

He was the brother of Joseph D., Young Jr. and his wife Mary E. of Venice, FL, Ronald D. Young and his wife Jan of Hudson and Barbara J. Calnan of Marlboro.

A Funeral Service will be held in the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home in WATERTOWN SQUARE at 6 Riverside St. (cnr. of No. Beacon St.) Watertown on Saturday at 10:00 A.M. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours Friday 4-7 PM. Interment private.

Bernard J. Conners

A Funeral Mass for Bernard Joseph Conners will be celebrated on Monday, August 5, 2002, in the Church of Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted, 920 Trapelo Rd., Waltham.

Mr. Conners was born in Watertown, on July 23, 1925, a son of Paul J. and Matilda M. (Doucette) Conners. He graduated from Watertown High School in 1943 and served in the US Army during World War II.

During the war he was stationed overseas in the Rome-Arno, North Apennines and Po Valley campaigns. He received the Bronze Star Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal. Mr. Conners enjoyed reunions with his Army unit which they called “The Polar Bears”.

For 35 years he was the Manager of the Glendale Package Store in Waltham until his retirement in 1990. Mr. Conners, a resident of Waltham for the past 44 years, died in the EPOCH Senior Health Care Center on Thursday, August 1, 2002. He had recently celebrated his 77th birthday.

He leaves his wife of 52 years, Barbara A. (Landry) Conners; a daughter, Donna M. Rigoli of Waltham; a son, Steven B. Conners of Providence, RI; and five grandchildren: Alyssa K. Rigoli, Laura K. Conners, Alana P. Conners, Meghan B. Conners and Jonathan S. Conners.

Brother of the late Dorothy M. Kelly, he also leaves a brother: Walter J. Conners of Anaheim Hills, Calif.; three sisters: Agnes M. Barry of Auburndale, Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Hill of West Newton and Helen L. McLaughlin of Billerica; and many nieces and nephews.

The Funeral will be from the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home at 270 Main St., on Rte. 20, Watertown, on Monday at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 o'clock in the Church of Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted, Waltham. Interment Saint Patrick Cemetery, Watertown.

Calling hours will be on Sunday, August 4th from 4-8 PM in the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home on Main Street. Relatives and friends kindly invited to attend.
