Dena M. Langone
WOBURN — Dena M. (Pasquale) Langone, 99, a longtime resident of Woburn, died June 8, 2001, at Winchester Hospital. She was the wife of the late Andrew Langone.
She was born in Boston, the daughter of the late Anthony and Albina (Lenzi) Langone. She was educated in Revere schools and was a graduate of Revere High School.
Shortly after her marriage, she and her husband moved to Woburn where they raised their children.
For 20 years, Mrs. Langone was employed as a clerk for the Boston and Woburn branches of the Registry of Motor Vehicles. In addition she assisted her husband with Langone Insurance Agency, a small firm which they operated from their Mountain Street home.
An extremely active woman right up to the time of her death, Mrs. Langone was involved with the American Red Cross, several community organizations, including the Sons of Italy and St. Anthony Church. She loved knitting, crocheting, embroidering, the theater, music and crossword puzzles.
She is survived by a son, Andrew G. Langone of Woburn; a daughter, Carol A. Pineau of Woburn; two brothers, Anthony Pasquale of Danvers, Albert Pasquale of Revere; six sisters, Emma Carter of Reading, Edith O’Hara, Esther Traverse, Helen Strong, Elsie Palermo and Laura Vitukevitch, all of Revere; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late James, Lawrence, and Clara Pasquale.
A funeral was held June 12, from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home in Woburn, followed by a funeral Mass in St. Anthony Church, North Woburn. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery, Woburn.

Birgir Kalmansson
WOBURN — Birgir Kalmansson, 71, died suddenly June 10, 2001, after being stricken with a coronary. He was the husband of Shirley (Kaiser) Kalmansson.
Mr. Kalmansson was born and raised in Reykjavik, Iceland. He has been a Woburn resident for the past 28 years. Mr. Kalmansson was a retired master electrician and an electrical contractor. He was the owner of Kalmansson Electric of Stoneham.
In addition to his wife of 39 years, he is survived by two sons, Pall Kalmansson and his wife Kathryn of Leominster, and Peter Kalmansson of Billerica; two daughters, Anna Deem and her husband Michael of Redmond, Wash., and Ester Bennett and her husband Andrew of North Andover; four sisters, Fvala, Anna, Kristin and Drub Kalmansdottir, all of Iceland; his stepmother, Audur; and six grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today, June 14, at the Stoneham Seventh Day Adventist Church, 29 Maple St., Stoneham. Relatives and friends invited. A committal service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday in Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody.
Arrangements were under the care of the Anderson-Bryant Funeral Home, Stoneham.
Vincent C. Yauckoes, 59, of Reading
READING — Vincent C. Yauckoes, 59, a native of Bedford, died June 5, 2001, at his home in Reading. He was the fiancé of Diane Sturtevant of Reading.
He was born in Arlington, the son of Anne (Lebednick) Yauckoes and the late Vincent Yauckoes. He was raised in Bedford and graduated from Bedford High School in 1959. He continued his education at Boston College, graduating in 1963.
Mr. Yauckoes was a teacher and football coach at Bedford High School in the 1960s. He also was employed at Polaroid Corp., Data General Corp., and Sears and Roebuck Co. Most recently, he was employed in home flooring, where he consulted and sold flooring at retail stores.
In addition to his fiancée and mother, he is survived by a son, Robert Yauckoes of Dubai - U.A.E.; a daughter, Kathy Yauckoes of Worcester; and a sister, Patty Connor of Hollis, N.H.
A funeral Mass was celebrated June 9, in St. Agnes Church in Reading. Interment was in Shawsheen Cemetery, Bedford.
Arrangements were under the care of the Joseph Doherty Funeral Home, Reading.
Bernardine Buzzell, 86, of Arlington
ARLINGTON — Bernardine Buzzell, 86, died June 6, 2001, at Chilton House Hospice in Cambridge. She was the wife of the late E. Howard Buzzell.
She was born in Lawrence on Nov. 27, 1914, the daughter of the late Bernard and Julia Cunningham. She was a graduate of Lawrence High School.
Mrs. Buzzell was formerly employed as an executive assistant to the superintendent of schools in Arlington from 1952 to 1994. She was a former recipient of the Town Employee of the Year Award.
Mrs. Buzzell was a 60-year resident of Arlington and a member of the Arlington Zonta Club. She was formerly the secretary of the Arlington School Committee.
She is survived by a daughter, Martha Lagow and her husband, Capt. Michael Lagow, USN Retired, of Newport, R.I.; and four grandchildren. She was also the mother of the late Lt. Richard H. Buzzell, USN.
A funeral Mass was celebrated June 12, in St. Agnes Church in Arlington. Interment was in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Arlington.

Emma M. Caggiula, 96, of Arlington
ARLINGTON — Emma M. Caggiula, 96, formerly of Mattapan, died June 8, 2001, at East Village in Lexington following a brief illness.
She was born in Boston, the daughter of the late Daniel E. and Sarah (Cuneo) Caggiula. She was a graduate of Boston University.
Miss Caggiula retired to Arlington with her sister after working as a secretary in her father’s tailoring business on Boston’s Newbury Street at Caggiula’s Gowns.
She was a devoted volunteer for the Chatterboxes Charity for Children.
She is survived by a brother, Daniel Caggiula of Dedham; three sisters, Hilda Fumia of Rochester, N.Y., Rita Caggiula of Arlington, and Dorothy Noyes of Carmel, Calif.; and 19 nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Vincent Caggiula.
At the request of the family, funeral services were private.
Arrangements were under the care of the Saville & Grannan Funeral and Cremation Service, Arlington.
Julianne T. Carlson, 62, of Arlington
ARLINGTON — Julianne T. Carlson, 62, of Arlington, died Monday, June 11, 2001, at Mt. Auburn Hospital in Cambridge. She was the wife of Charles Carlson.
Mrs. Carlson was employed as a teacher in the Cambridge school system for 35 years. She enjoyed painting.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Michael Carlson of Lexington and Richard Carlson of Burlington; a daughter, Charlene Molinari of N. Chelmsford; two brothers, Jim Tansey of Falmouth and Danny Tansey of Florida; a sister, Mary Jane Tomasello of Needham; seven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. She was the sister of the late Billy Tansey.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m., Saturday, June 16, in St. Brigid’s Church in Lexington.

Dorothy E. Carter, 87, formerly of Arlington
STONEHAM — Dorothy E. Carter, 87, formerly of Arlington, died June 8, 2001, at Winchester Hospital following a lengthy illness She was the wife of the late Robert E. Carter.
She was born and raised in Stoneham, the daughter of the late Walter and Eliza R. (Moore) Cook. She was a graduate of Stoneham High School, Class of 1932. Throughout her marriage, she resided in Arlington and, as a widow, she moved back to Stoneham.
Mrs. Carter enjoyed singing in the Sweet Adeline choruses and was a charter member of the Arlington Sweet Adeline chapter. She attended many men’s barbershop quartet shows and competitions with her husband, who was the musical director.
She is survived by two sons, Richard C. Carter of Hilton Head, S.C., and Ronald S. Carter of Los Angeles, Calif.; two daughters, Elizabeth E. Sargent of Stockton, Calif., and Deborah S. Wolf of Taho City, Calif.; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She will be missed by a host of friends at the Mountain View Terrace Apartments in Stoneham.
A memorial service was held June 13, in the First Congregational Church, Main at Church and Common streets.
Arrangements were under the care of the Anderson-Bryant Funeral Home of Stoneham.
Norman D. Cronin, 84, of Arlington
ARLINGTON — Norman D. Cronin, 84, of Arlington, died May 18, 2001, at Sunbridge Care & Rehabilitation for Lexington after a long illness. He was the husband of Dorothy (Marks) Cronin.
Born in Lynn, he was a longtime resident of Arlington. Prior to retirement, he was employed as a salesman for A.L. Lyons of Boston. He was an active member of Tremont Temple Baptist Church in Boston for many years and an Army veteran of World War II.
Besides his wife, Mr. Cronin is survived by a daughter, Patricia Sroka of Seekonk; a son, Norman D. Cronin Jr. of Marlborough; a brother, James Cronin of Lynn; and two granddaughters.
Services were held at the Saville & Grannan Funeral Home, Arlington Center, May 22. Burial was at the V.A. National Cemetery in Bourne.
Memorial donations may be made in his name to either the Tremont Temple Missionary Committee, 88 Tremont St., Boston, MA 02108 or the charity of one’s choice.
Louise E. Ferrara, 83, of Arlington
ARLINGTON — Louise E. (D’Alfonso) Ferrara, 83, died June 11, 2001, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital following an extended illness. She was the wife of Henry Ferrara.
Mrs. Ferrara was the daughter of the late Ulderico and Theresina D’Alfonso and was a graduate of East Boston High School.
She was employed for many years with the former Worley Publishing House in Roxbury Crossing and later with Filenes. She also assisted her late parents in their Back Bay tailor shop while in high school.
Mrs. Ferrara, along with her husband of 54 years, was a leader of Pack 394, Cub Scouts of America, and a unit commissioner for cub scouting.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, William G. Ferrara and his wife, Pam, of South Weymouth; a brother, Gerald E. D’Alfonso of Beverly; a sister, Cornelia Farina of Braintree; and three grandchildren. She was also the sister of the late Irma Ferullo of East Boston, and Gloria Fucci of Holbrook.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
Louise M. Licciardi, 99, formerly of Arlington
BELMONT — Louise M. Licciardi, 99, died suddenly June 7, 2001, at the Mt, Auburn Hospital. She was the wife of the late Victor B. Licciardi.
She was born in Brighton, the daughter of the late Zortique and Roseanna (Doucete) Foisy. Her education was limited to the eighth grade because of the Depression.
Mrs. Licciardi entered into the workforce as a seamstress, worked at Hood Rubber, as did many of the people, to make ends meet. She was co-owner of the Lexington Liquor Mart until her retirement.
She was a resident of Belmont for the past 24 years and a resident of Arlington for more than 50 years prior to moving to Belmont.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. James (Jean) M. Reardon of Belmont. She was also the sister of the late Albert, Francis, Arthur and Josephine Foisy and Alice Fittz.
A funeral was held June 11, from the J.M. Reardon Funeral Home in Belmont, followed by a funeral Mass in Our Lady of Mercy Church. Interment was in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Arlington.
