Kenneth I. Twombly Sr., 72, fire security chief
Englewood, Fla.; Boston

Friday, November 5, 1999

Kenneth I. Twombly Sr. of Englewood, Fla., a retired chief of fire security with Bethlehem Steel Corp., died Saturday at his home after a lengthy illness. He was 72.

Born in Boston, Mr. Twombly attended Boston Public Schools.

He served in the Navy during World War II in the South Pacific and China.

Mr. Twombly was employed as chief of fire security for Bethlehem Steel Corp. in its shipbuilding division in Hingham and East Boston ship repair, retiring after 35 years. He also served on the Logan Airport Fire Department Crash Crew from 1948 - 1953 and was a manager of maintenance and security at the Quincy Shipyard for the MWRA.

He was a life member of Disabled Veterans of America Post 3 in Sarasota, Fla., a 32nd degree Master Mason, member of the Washington Lodge in Lexington, the Old Colony Lodge of Hingham, the Scottish Rite Bodies of the Valley of Boston and the Aleppo Temple Shriners of Wilmington.

Mr. Twombly is survived by his wife, Arline M. (Kilgore) of Englewood; four daughters, Karen M. Martel and Sheryl J. Holden, both of Englewood, Laraine E. of Hull and Susan D. King of Gibsonville, N.C.; four sons, Kenneth I. Jr. and John E., both of Hull, Ronald B. of Hingham and George M. of Braintree; a sister, Carol Ambroseno of Bridgewater; 25 grandchildren and six great - grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. today in the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, Hingham.

Burial will be at 12:30 p.m. in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.

Arrangements by the George H. Downing & Son Funeral Home, Hingham.

Michael J. Wrenn, 64, retired school principal
Haverhill

Saturday, November 13, 1999

Michael J. Wrenn of Haverhill, a retired teacher and principal, died Tuesday at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He was 64.

Born in Haverhill, Mr. Wrenn graduated from St. James High School and later from the Bentley School of Accounting and Suffolk University. He earned a master's degree at Salem State College.

Mr. Wrenn served in the Army during the Korean War.

He was employed as a teacher in the business department for Haverhill High School in 1961 and later became chairman of the department. From 1981 to 1994, he served as principal. After retirement, he served twice as acting superintendent of the Haverhill school system and as acting principal of Haverhill High School.

Mr. Wrenn is survived by his wife, Nancy J. (Bernhard) of Haverhill; three daughters, Susan P. Lahiff, Paula J. Brackett and Mary Ellen, all of Haverhill; two sons, Daniel P. and Haverhill police officer Michael J. Jr., both of Haverhill; a sister, Mary J. Bresnahan of Methuen; a brother, John P. of Claremont, N.H.; and eight grandchildren.

A funeral Mass was celebrated yesterday in All Saints Church, Haverhill.

Burial was in St. James Cemetery, Haverhill.

Thomas R. Donelin, 82, of Westwood

WESTWOOD - Thomas R. Donelin, 82, of Westwood, formerly of Quincy and Dorchester, died Monday, May 27, 2002, at home.

He was the husband of Mary C. (Mulvehill) Donelin.

Born in Dorchester, son of the late Michael and Catherine (Manning) Donelin, he graduated from Boston College High School in 1937, from Boston College in 1941 and from Boston College Law School in 1948, a "Triple Eagle." He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Mr. Donelin lived in Quincy and was a communicant at St. Ann's Church, Wollaston for 42 years, moving to Westwood in 1988. He was a member of St. Ann's Holy Name Society, St. Vincent de Paul Society and was active in the Boston Catholic Boys Guidance Center. He was a communicant at St. Denis Church in Westwood since 1988. He was a Boston College sports fan, a Boston teams sports fan and an avid bowler.

Mr. Donelin was employed for 27 years with New England Electric System, retiring in 1984.

Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Thomas R. Donelin Jr. of Westwood; three daughters, Patricia A. Donelin of Norwood, Kathryn Donelin of Westwood and Clare (Donelin) Mazza of Quincy; a sister, Mary C. Donelin of Quincy; three granddaughters, Bridget, Emily and Grace Mazza of Quincy; a son - in - law, Kevin Mazza of Quincy; a brother - in - law, the Rev. John R. Mulvehill, pastor of St. Anthony Parish, Cohasset; sisters - in - law, Margaret A. Sullivan and Kay Donelin; eight nieces and nephews and their families.

He was the brother of the late Rev. John M. Donelin, Joseph J. Donelin and the Rev. Msgr. Paul F. Donelin.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, June 3, at 11:30 a.m., at St. Denis Church, Westwood.

Burial will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery in West Roxbury.

Visiting hours are Sunday, June 2, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., at Holden, Dunnirvine and Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock St. (off Rte. 109), Westwood.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Ann's School, c/o St. Ann Rectory, 757 Hancock St., Quincy, MA 02170.

Edmund "Rabbi" R. Baker, 70, a lifelong resident of Norwood

NORWOOD - Edmund "Rabbi" R. Baker, 70, a lifelong resident of Norwood, died June 1, 2002 at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston.

He leaves his wife, Barbara A. (Naughton) Baker of Norwood.

Son of the late Stella (Kalnoski) Baker and Hallie Baker, he was a retired supervisor of maintenance craftsmen for the Norwood School Department, where he worked for 30 years.

He graduated from Norwood High School in 1949 and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in the Korean conflict. He was a member of the Norwood VFW, the Norwood American Legion post, and the North Walpole Fish and Game Club.

Besides his wife, he leaves his son, Robert Baker, a Norwood police officer, and his wife Debra, of Walpole; a son, Dennis S. Baker and wife Deborah, of Attleboro; a daughter, Debra J. Fuller and husband Randy, of Medfield; a sister, Sophie Golden of Walpole and six grand children.

A funeral Mass will be tomorrow at 9 a.m. at St. George Catholic Church, Norwood. Calling hours are today from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Kraw - Kornack Funeral Home, 1248 Washington St., Norwood. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Norwood.

Paul Leon Bishop of Foxboro

FOXBORO - Paul Leon Bishop of Foxboro and formerly of Dedham, died Saturday, June 1, 2002.

He was the husband of Eldora (Chibas) Bishop for 54 years.

He was a veteran of World War II.

Besides his wife, he leaves his children, Karen Lenahan and her husband, Paul of North Attleboro, Gail Carlson and her husband, Albert of Wayland and Paul C. Bishop and his wife, Theresa of Westwood; six grandchildren; and a nephew.

He was also brother of the late Carl Bishop.

A celebration of his life will be held Wednesday, June 5, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary's Church, Foxboro.

Interment will be in Brookdale Cemetery in Dedham.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ursuline Academy Endowment Fund, 85 Lowder St., Dedham, MA 02026.

Michael Kisil, of Dedham

DEDHAM - Michael Kisil, of Dedham, died Jan. 13, 2002.

He was the husband of Helen M. (Huether) Kisil.

Mr. Kisil was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a late member of Boston Carmen's Union and VFW Post #2017 of Dedham.

Besides his wife, he leaves his children, Nancy Rhodes of Hyde Park and Karen Golomb and her husband, Mitchell of Norfolk; and grandchildren, Michael and Matthew Rhodes.

His funeral was held from the Folsom Funeral Home, Dedham on Wednesday, Jan. 16, with a funeral Mass at St. Anne's Church, Readville.

Burial took place at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne on Thursday, Jan. 17.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Ruth M. Carolan, 89, of Needham, Stuart, Fla. and Norwood

NEEDHAM - Ruth M. Carolan, 89, of Needham, Stuart, Fla. and Norwood, died Friday, May 24, 2002, in Martin Memorial Hospital in Stuart, Fla.

She was the wife of the late James F. Carolan, M.D. for 60 years.

Born in Schenectady, N.Y., she was a resident of Norwood for more than 40 years before moving to Needham about 15 years ago. She was also a resident of Stuart for more than 20 years. She enjoyed golf and was a member of the Charles River Country Club in Newton and the Miles Grant Country Club in Stuart.

She graduated from Simmons College, Class of 1934 where she received a B.S. degree. She also received a M.S. from Simmons. Mrs. Carolan was class president during her junior and senior years.

She leaves her children, James F. Carolan Jr. of Vancouver, B.C., Robert M. Carolan, M.D. of Eugene, Ore., Susan C. Popowski of Northfield, Vermont, Lois E. Carolan of St. Paul, Minn, Richard E. Carolan of Wellesley and Christopher L. Carolan of Atlanta, Ga.; 17 grandchildren and a great - granddaughter.

A funeral will be held Saturday, June 1, at 9 a.m., from the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole St. (Rte. 1A), followed by a funeral Mass, at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine's Church, Norwood.

Interment will be in Highland Cemetery in Norwood.

Visiting hours will be Friday, May 31, from 4 to 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Simmons College, Office of Development, 30 The Fenway, Boston, MA 02115.

Sonja A. Cox

MEDFIELD - Sonja A. (Eklund) Cox, 63, of Medfield, died unexpectedly, Saturday, May 25, 2002, at her home. She had been a resident of Medfield since 1965.

Born March 25, 1939 in Boston, she was the daughter of Valborg (Jonsson) Eklund of Needham and the late Robert V. Eklund. She was educated in the West Roxbury and Needham schools graduating from Needham High School in 1956, and continued her education at Chandler Secretarial School in Boston.

She was a bookkeeper for her late husband, Karl C. Cox, in the family accounting business, Karl C. Cox Accounting Service in Medfield. Mrs. Cox continued the business after his death in 1994 until just recently when she became ill.

Formerly of Needham, she was a former member of the Order of Eastern Star there. She was an avid bridge player and adored her grandchildren.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by three children, Lorraine S. Yurick and her husband Eli of Chicago, Glenn A. Cox and his wife Lori of Bellingham and Robin L. Janse and her husband Peter of Natick; a sister Barbara J. Ryan and a brother Robert V. Eklund Jr., both of Needham; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday, at 1 p.m., at the United Church of Christ, 496 Main St., Medfield. The Rev. Dr. Philip J. Bauman will officiate.

Burial will be private at a later date.

Calling hours at the Roberts - Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Miller St., will be held Thursday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to MetroWest Hospice, 85 Lincoln St. Framingham, MA 01702.
