Concetta M. DeBella

Concetta M. (Ribaudo) DeBella, 77, died Oct. 3, 2000, at the Kimball Farms in Lenox. She was the wife of the late John L. DeBella. She was born in Boston and had been a longtime Belmont resident. She was a retired administrator for New England Telephone. Mrs. DiBella is survived by a son, Augustus DiBella of Belmont; three daughters, Constance T. DeBella of Malden, Donna M. Streight of Derry, N.H., and Denise DeBella of West Stockbridge, two sisters, Lucy Cammarata of Revere, and Josephine Solimini of Londonderry, N.H.; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was also the sister of the late Vincent and Rose Rebaudo. Graveside services were held Oct. 7, at St. Michael's Cemetery in Forest Hills. For those who wish, contributions in Mrs. DeBella's memory may be made to the Hospice in the Berkshires, c/o J. Kelly, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238. Arrangements were under the care of the Short, Williamson & Diamond Funeral Home, Belmont.

Florence M. Cusolito

SUDBURY - Florence M. (Del Mastro) Cusolito, 96, formerly of Belmont, died Oct. 3, 2000, at the Rivercrest Nursing Home in Concord. She was the wife of the late D. Frederick Cusolito. Mrs. Cusolito was born in Boston and was a retired market owner. She is survived by four sons, Dr. Lawrence F. Cusolito of Belmont, Frederick L. Cusolito of Falmouth, Robert A. Cusolito of Westford, and Richard C. Cusolito of Tiverton, R.I.; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Lucille) Quirk of Sudbury; 21 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter. Services and interment were private. For those who wish, contributions in Mrs. Cusolito's memory may be made to the charity of one's choice. Arrangements were under the care of the Stanton Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown.

Rev. Movses Janbazian

A special memorial service for the Rev. Movses Janbazian, the executive director of the Armenian Missionary Association of America, will be held at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 15, at the Armenian Memorial Church, 32 Bigelow Ave., Watertown. Rev. Janbazian died Sept. 25, 2000, in Paramus, N.J., at the age of 55. Rev. Janbazian was known worldwide. As executive director of the Armenian Missionary Association of America, he was responsible for the oversight and guidance of the life and work of the AMAA which was founded as the missionary agency of the Armenian Evangelical Churches, and is currently engaged in educational, humanitarian and mission ministries in 23 countries around the world. The Rev. Dr. Vahan Tootikian, moderator of the Armenian Evangelical Union of America, will be the main speaker at the service which will include representatives from New England churches and the AMAA. Rev. Movses Janbazian was born in Anjar, Lebanon, and received a bachelor of arts degree in modern European history from Haigazian University in 1968, and a master of Christian education degree from the Near East School of Theology, both in Beirut, Lebanon. He served in many capacities in the Armenian Evangelical Churches of Lebanon and as visiting pastor of the Armenian Evangelical Churches of Damascus in Syria and Zahle in Lebanon. After serving from 1971 to 1972 as the founding director of the Armenian Evangelical Social Service Center of Trad (Beirut), Lebanon, Rev. Janbazian served as missionary-minister to the Armenian Evangelical Central Church of Sao Paulo, Brazil, and as the visiting pastor of the First Armenian Evangelical Church of Montevideo, Uruguay. Rev. Janbazian's ministry in South America included a city-wide radio program, a prison ministry and leadership in community activities. In 1980, Rev. Janbazian was called by the Armenian Missionary Association of America with headquarters in New Jersey to serve as its field director. He assumed the executive director's position in 1987, and in this role traveled worldwide in the work of the organization. He served as president and secretary of the Evangelical World Council. He was a member of the Yerevan-based Council of Directors of the "Hayastan" All Armenia Fund, the Board of Directors of the United Church Board for World Ministries of the United Church of Christ, the Board of Directors of Dorcas Aid International in the Netherlands, the Board of Trustees of the Stephen Philibosian Foundation, the Board of Directors of United Armenia Fund, the Board of Managers of the Near East School of Theology, the Board of Trustees of Haigazian University, the Middle East and Europe committees of the National Council of Churches of Christ - USA, the Board of Trustees of the State Engineering University of Armenia, the Board of Directors of the Armenian Evangelical Union of North America, the Central Committee of the Armenian Evangelical Fellowship of Europe, and various Armenian and non-Armenian church-related agencies. Rev. Janbazian's outstanding contribution to worldwide mission and service ministries was recognized with an honorary degree of doctor of divinity conferred upon him by Haigazian University of Beirut, Lebanon, in 1998. Rev. Janbazian is survived by his wife, Louisa Janbazian; his two children, Vahak Boghos and Ani Agnes; as well as a large extended family. The memorial service is open to the public.

Edith Jackson

Edith (Krusell) Jackson, 80, of Bedford, formerly of Belmont and Lexington, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2000. She was the wife of the late J. Robert Jackson. She lived in Belmont for 25 years, and graduated from Belmont High School with the Class of 1939. Mrs. Jackson is survived by two daughters, Debra Jackson Fitch of Bedford, and Sandra Driscoll and her husband Dan of West Newton; three grandchildren; and two sisters, Ruth Wrangham of Maine and Beverly Cronk of Florida. A memorial service was held at Payson Park Congregational Church, Belmont, Friday, Oct. 6. Interment is private. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Brown & Sons Funeral Home, Belmont.

Joseph Arrigo

Joseph Arrigo, 86, of Belmont, died Oct. 7, 2000. He was the husband of Maria (Saro) Arrigo. Mr. Arrigo was born in Messins, Italy, and had been a longtime resident of Belmont. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, John Arrigo of Belmont; four daughters, Mary Arrigo, Josephine Cellurale and Lavinia Magazzu, all of Belmont, and Connie Clemente of Menlo Park, Calif.; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral was held Oct. 10, from the Brown & Sons Funeral Home in Belmont, followed by a funeral Mass in St. Joseph's Church. For those who wish, contributions in Mr. Arrigo's memory may be made to Mt. Auburn Hospital Development Office, c/o Coronary Care Unit, 333 Mt. Auburn St., Cambridge, MA 02238.

Thaddeus Young Jr.

BELMONT - Thaddeus Young Jr., 82, died Oct. 7, 2000. He was the husband of the late Sarah E. (Early) Young.

He was born in Maine and was a retired engineer for Raytheon.

Mr. Young was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by two daughters, Beverly A. Long and her husband David of Natick, and Lorraine M. Sullivan and her husband John of Arlington; and three grandchildren.

Services and interment was held in New Brunswick, Canada.

Arrangements were under the care of the Stanton Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown.

Frances Muller

BELMONT - Frances M. (Walsh) Muller, 81, died Oct. 7, 2000. She was the wife of Paul F. Muller. She was born in Cambridge. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Judith W. Curtain of Waltham; a brother, William Kearns of Milton; four sisters, Catherine Kearns of Cohasset, Grace Hanley of Watertown, Rosemary Kearns of Quincy, and Elaine Russo of Wayland; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral was held Oct. 11, from the Stanton Funeral Home in Watertown, followed by a funeral Mass in Our Lady of Mercy Church, Belmont. Interment was in Belmont Cemetery.

Cosmos L. Mercandetti

BELMONT - Cosmo L. "Rusty" Mercandetti, 72, formerly of Malden, died Oct. 13, 2000, at Youville Hospital in Cambridge. He was the husband of Theresa (Spezzaferro) Muzzioli-Mercandetti and the late Amelia (Grasso) Mercandetti. He was born in Somerville on Dec. 18, 1927 and was educated in Somerville schools. Mr. Mercandetti was employed as a mechanical supervisor for Delta Airlines for 48 years. He was a member of the Arlington Retired Men's Club, Lexington Elks, Malden Moose, and the Progress Club of Somerville. He was a former member of the Malden Board of Appeals, former commissioner of Malden Department of Public Works, and former chairman of Malden Liquor Licensing Commission. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a stepson, Dante Muzzioli and his wife Janet of Belmont; three brothers, Philip and Christopher "Chris" of Arlington, and Louis Mercandetti of Las Vegas; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral was held Oct. 16, from the Cota-Struzziero-McKenna Funeral Home in Somerville, followed by a funeral Mass in St. Anthony's Church. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. For those who wish, contributions in Mr. Mercandetti's memory may be made to the Youville Hospital, 1575 Cambridge St., Cambridge, MA 02140.

Charles A. Pappas

BELMONT - Charles A. Pappas, of Belmont, died Oct. 10, 2000. He was the husband of Helen (Kalton) Pappas. His father, Thomas A. Pappas was the head of C. Pappas & Co., an international industrial concern, and was president of ESSO-Pappas of Greece. Charles was a private philanthropist who administered the assets and gifts of Thomas A. Pappas Foundation of Lexington. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Thomas C. Pappas of Bourne, and John C. Pappas of Burlington; two daughters, Betsy P. Demirjian of Weston, and Sophia H. Pappas of Watertown. Equally proud to call Stephen C. Demirjian, Leslie Pappas, Bonnie Pappas, and Andrew Sacher his own. Loving pappy to Alexa Demirjian, Timmy Demirjian, and Chase Pappas. A funeral was held Oct. 13, from the Greek Orthodox Church "Taxiarchae" in Watertown. Interment was private. For those who wish, contributions in Mr. Pappas' memory may be made to the MGH Cancer Center, Massachusetts General Hospital Development Office, 100 Charles River Plaza, Suite 600, Boston, MA 02114. Arrangements were under the care of the Arthur C. Hasiotis-Commonwealth Funeral Service of Boston.
