DUDLEY -- The funeral for Keith M. Dion, 38, of Chase Avenue, formerly of Oxford, will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, from Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Roch's Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Mr. Dion died Saturday, Sept. 30, at home after being stricken ill. Burial will be in St. Roch's Cemetery, Oxford. Calling hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Michael K. Hokanson-Dion Trust Fund, c/o Webster Five Cent Savings Bank, 393 Main St., Oxford, MA 01540.

Elaine P. Langen, 64

LEOMINSTER -- Elaine P. (Rheault) Langen, 64, of 163 Walnut St., a retired secretary-clerk for the town, died Friday, Aug. 11, in HealthAlliance Leominster Hospital after an illness.

Her husband, Brian W. Langen, died in 1981. She leaves three sons, Michael B., William F. and Sean P. Langen, all of Leominster; two daughters, Kelly A. Arciprete of Lunenburg and Kara E. Vitolo of Sparta, N.J.; two brothers, Eugene and Norman Rheault, both of Leominster; 14 grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was born in Leominster, daughter of Emile and Annette (Vincent) Rheault. She graduated from St. Bernard's High School in 1954.

Mrs. Langen was a secretary-clerk for the city of Leominster more than 20 years, retiring in 1998. She worked for the School Department, the Police Department and most recently for the Department of Public Works.

She attended St. Leo's and St. Cecilia's churches.

The funeral will be held Tuesday, Aug. 15, from Curley-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 89 West St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Leo's Church, 128 Main St. Burial will be in St. Cecilia's Cemetery. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14, in the funeral home.

Mary A. Lanza, 86

LEOMINSTER -- Mary A. “Molly” (Landry) Hildreth Lanza, 86, of 100 Main St., a retired floor lady, died Saturday, Aug. 12, in HealthAlliance Leominster Hospital after an illness.

Her first husband, Francis Hildreth, died before her. She leaves four sisters, Mary “Gloria” Houle and Laverne Bernier, both of Leominster, Geraldine Pinault of Hollywood, Fla. and Rita Petriello of Bremerton, Wash.; four grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. A son, Ronald Hildreth, formerly of Leominster and Grafton, died in 1997. She was born in New Brunswick, Canada, daughter of William J. and Margaret J. (Ducette) Landry, and lived in Leominster most of her life.

Mrs. Hildreth was a floor lady at Foster Grant Co. for many years before retiring. She was a member of St. Cecilia's Parish, the Leominster Senior Citizens, and the Golden Age Club.

After cremation, the graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, in St. Cecilia's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Wright-Roy Funeral Home, 109 West St., is directing arrangements.

Elaine N. Lavner, 71

Monday, August 7, 2000

NORTHBORO -- Elaine N. (Smith) Lavner, 71, of 394 West Main St., an employee of Wonder Markets, Inc., died Saturday, August 5, in MetroWest Hospital in Framingham.

She leaves her husband of 49 years, Einar V. Lavner; two sons, Robert E. Lavner of Shrewsbury and John W. Lavner of Northboro; two daughters, Donna E. Robinson of Northboro and Gail A. Maloney of Oxford; a brother, Raymond Smith of Millbury; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was born in Windsor, Vt., daughter of John and Viola R. (Robinson) Smith, and moved to Northboro, living there until 1996, then to Hyannis, until 1999, before moving back to Northboro. She graduated from Commerce High School in 1948.

Mrs. Lavner worked for the Wonder Markets Inc., in the floral department and previously worked at the Clinton Item in the Advertising Department and the Welcome Wagon in Worcester. She was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church and Vasa Order of America Quinsigamond Lodge 517.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 9, at the Nordgren Carrigan Magson Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St., Worcester. Burial will be at a later date. Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, August 8, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association of Central Mass, 35 Harvard St., Worcester, MA 01609.

Helen F. Decker, 89

HOLDEN -- Helen F. (Frost) Decker, 89, of 35 Woodland Road, a former executive secretary, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, in UMass Memorial Medical Center -- University Campus, Worcester.

Her husband, Thomas E. Decker Sr., died in 1989. She leaves two sons, Thomas E. Decker Jr. of Attleboro and John F. Decker of Holden; a brother, Howard Frost Jr. of Allentown, Pa.; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Howard and Ruth (Goodnow) Frost, and lived 60 years in Holden. She graduated from North High School and Fitzgerald Secretarial School, both in Worcester.

Mrs. Decker was an executive secretary at the Telegram & Gazette, Worcester. She previously worked at State Mutual Life Insurance Co. and Sawyer's Lumber Yard, both in Worcester.

She was a member of First Congregational Church of Holden, Holden Women's Club, Holden Garden Club, and the Holden Players Club. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed bowling, gardening and bridge.

The funeral service will be private in Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St. Burial will be in the spring in Grove Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Congregational Church Memorial Fund, 1180 Main St., Holden, MA 01520.

Christiane M. Legere

NORTH HAMPTON, N.H. -- Christiane M. (Arsenault) Legere, 52, of 115 Lafayette Road, formerly of Millbury and Oxford, Mass., died Wednesday, Aug. 9, in Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford, Maine, after being stricken ill in Saco, Maine.

She leaves her husband of 32 years, Leo R. Legere; three daughters, Stephanie E. Reynolds of Apex, N.C., and twins, Renee A. and Michelle Y. Legere, both of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and her mother, Georgette Y. (Labbe) Arsenault of Millbury. Her adoptive father, Roger L. Arsenault, died in 1979. She was born in Paris, France, daughter of Charles J. Jaumont, and was raised in Millbury and lived in Oxford before moving to New Hampshire in 1980. She graduated from Marian High School and attended Salter Secretarial School, both in Worcester, Mass.

She was a member of St. James Catholic Parish in Portsmouth and a former member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Parish, Millbury. She enjoyed gardening and cooking, and volunteered at Hampton area animal shelters.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, Aug. 16, from Turgeon Funeral Home, 56 Main St., Millbury, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 10 Waters St., Millbury. Burial will be in Central Cemetery, Millbury. Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of the Assumption, Renovation Fund, 12 Waters St., Millbury, MA 01527.

Richard Legere Sr., 56

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. -- Richard E. Legere Sr., 56, of Port Charlotte, formerly of Charlton and South Grafton, Mass., a business owner and operator and a former landlord, died Thursday, July 19, at home after a long illness.

He leaves three sons, Jeffrey R., Kenneth O. and Richard E. Legere Jr., all of Port Charlotte; a daughter, Kim McNeaney of Charlton; his former wife, Joan (Marcoux) Legere of Port Charlotte; a brother, Robert J. Legere of the Whitinsville section of Northbridge, Mass.; two sisters, Elaine Duby of Millbury, Mass., and Theresa Olson of Reno, Nev.; 11 grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, Mass., son of Robert J. and Irene (Dunn) Legere, and lived in Charlton before moving to Florida in 1988.

Mr. Legere owned and operated Legere Concrete Specialties. In Charlton, he owned and operated Charlton Hardware for six years. He was also a landlord in Southbridge, Mass.

While living in Massachusetts, he was a founder of the Southern Worcester County Landlord Association, a board member of the Charlton Credit Union, and the first executive director of the Charlton Housing Authority.

The funeral Mass was held in Grove City. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 28, in Fairview Cemetery, South Grafton. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of South West Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238. Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., Millbury, is directing local arrangements.

Reino G.A. Lehtola, 85

WORCESTER -- Reino G.A. Lehtola, 85, of 244 Vernon St., a retired steelworker, died Sunday, Aug. 6, at home after a long illness.

He leaves his wife of 60 years, Dorothy M. (Grenon) Lehtola; four daughters, Joan C. Kusy and Ann D. Krebs, both of Worcester, Beverly J. Letante of Lunenburg, and Nancy R. Brosseau of Colony, Texas; two sisters, Viola Lupien of Plant City, Fla. and Elvi Mungovan of Worcester; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. He was born in Worcester, son of Frank and Anna (Paavola) Lehtola.

Mr. Lehtola worked in the rod mill of U.S. Steel & Wire Corp. for 27 years. He later worked at Jamesbury Corp. for 10 years, retiring in 1979.

The funeral service will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, in Lindquist-Lundin Funeral Home, 36 Butler St. Burial will be in All Faiths Cemetery. Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, in the funeral home.

Sam H. Martin, 58

LEOMINSTER -- Sam H. Martin, 58, of 59 Middle St., a retired restaurateur, died Sunday, Oct. 8, at home after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 25 years, Sheila P. (Ciccone) Martin; three daughters, Sandra Martin, Stacey Martin and Kristen Martin, all of Leominster; four brothers, Henry C. Martin Jr. of Ethridge, Tenn.; Herschel B. Martin of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., C. Edward Martin, of Loretto, Tenn., and John T. Martin of Five Points, Tenn.; five sisters, Martha J. Lewis of Five Points, Tenn., Sarah E. Martin of Lawrenceburg, Tenn; Grace Martin of Uniontown, Pa., Florence Clary of Tennessee and Anne Lewis of Carmichaels, Pa; three stepsons, Mark Hebert of Westford, Jeffrey Hebert and Scott Hebert, both of Leominster; two stepdaughters, Pamela Hebert of Leominster and Lesley Holden of Seattle, several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was born in Lawrenceburg, Tenn., son of Henry C. and Edna J. (Stacey) Martin. He graduated from Lawrence County High School in 1961. He came to Leominster many years ago. Mr. Martin was a Vietnam War veteran, serving in the Army.

Mr. Martin worked at the Four Acres Restaurant in Sterling and then, with his wife, owned and operated the Cozy Kitchen in Gardner for 10 years until retirement in 1998. He was a member of the United Methodist Church. He also belonged to the American Legion in Fitchburg.

Funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, in the United Methodist Church, 77 Hall St. Burial is private. Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m,. Wednesday, Oct. 11, in the Brandon Simard Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Road, Fitchburg.

Joan M. Linnon, 66

HOLDEN -- Joan M. (Proulx) Linnon, 66, of 396 Main St., a retired administrative assistant and office manager, died Monday, Aug. 7, at home after an illness.

She leaves her husband of 36 years, Richard T. Linnon; a son, John J. Linnon of Charlton; two daughters, Christine M. Oser of Holden and Patricia C. Burdett of Leicester; her mother, Mary (Dube) Proulx of Worcester; a sister, Claire Witt of Worcester; two grandchildren. She was born in Nashua, N.H., daughter of Albert Proulx, and graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester.

Mrs. Linnon was an administrative assistant and office manager at Plastic Systems Inc. in Marlboro for 15 years, retiring in 1995. She was also a notary public.

She was a member of St. Mary's Church.

The funeral will be Wednesday, Aug. 9, from Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 114 Princeton St., Jefferson. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Holden. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, in the funeral home. Donations may be made to UMass Memorial Hospice, 43 Harvard St., Worcester, MA 01609.

Anton N. Lonnroth Jr.

Monday, August 7, 2000

RUSKIN, Fla. -- Anton N. Lonnroth Jr., 75, of Ruskin, Florida, formerly of Worcester, and Nashua, New Hampshire, a policeman, died Friday, August 4, in Tampa, Florida.

He leaves his wife, Ella Lonnroth; a son, Dale Lonnroth of Merrimack, New Hampshire; a daughter, Cheryl Morgan of Columbia, South Carolina; two brothers, William Lonnroth of Ellenton, Florida and Robert Lonnroth of West Boylston; a sister, Betty Tremblay of Massachusetts; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was a Marine veteran of World War II.

Mr. Lonnroth was a retired member of the Nashua, New Hampshire Police Department.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 8, in the chapel of Lewers Funeral Home, 308 East College Ave. Burial will be in Florida National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1 Bromfield St., Boston 02108.

NORTHBORO -- The memorial service for Nathalie (Cassavant) Lutfy, 60, of Benicia, Calif., formerly of Worcester, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 19, in Trinity Church, 23 Main St. She died Sunday, Feb. 27, in the John Muir Medical Center, Walnut Creek, Calif., after a brief illness.

Vivian MacGregor, 82

HOLLAND -- Vivian (Peloquin) MacGregor, 82, of Craig Road, a retired medical secretary, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, in UMass Memorial Medical Center -- Memorial Campus, Worcester.

Her husband, James G. MacGregor, died in 1991. She leaves a niece, Barbara A. Jovan of Southbridge, her caregiver; a stepson, James B. MacGregor of Venice, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Robin Lee of New Hampshire; three grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Dr. Hector L. and Aurora (Charron) Peloquin, and graduated from the former Mary E. Wells High School in Southbridge and Becker Junior College in Worcester.

Mrs. MacGregor was a medical secretary for the late Dr. Ralph Sulzeberger, and later worked at Harvard Community Health Plan before retiring.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 11, in Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge. Burial will be in Holland Cemetery. Calling hours are from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 11, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity.

Enrique Maldonado, 68

WORCESTER -- Enrique Maldonado, 68, of 8 Upland Gardens Drive, died Monday, Aug. 7, at home after an illness.

He leaves his wife, Josefina Valentin; a son, Jose E. Maldonado of Worcester; two daughters, Ida Maldonado of Puerto Rico and Maria Maldonado of Worcester; a brother, Gregory Maldonado of Puerto Rico; three grandchildren. He was born in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico, son of Ramon Ortiz and Felicita Maldonado, and lived in Worcester for two years.

Mr. Maldonado was a farmer in Puerto Rico.

The funeral services and burial will be in Adjuntas. There are no calling hours. Graham, Putnam, and Mahoney Funeral Parlors, 838 Main St., is directing arrangements.
