Helen Klocek, 87

Monday, February 5, 2001

GRAFTON -- Helen (Podsiadlo) Klocek, 87, of 15 Cross St., died Saturday, Feb. 3, in Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center, Northbridge.

Her husband of 64 years, Thaddeus M. Klocek, died Dec. 29. She leaves a son, Donald F. Klocek of South Grafton; two brothers, Henry C. Podsiadlo of Northbridge and Walter Podsiadlo of Rialto, Calif.; three sisters, Cecelia Lucek, Statia K. Cadrin, and Victoria A. Cardin, all of South Grafton; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter. A sister, Genevieve Graham, and a brother, Francis Podsiadlo, predeceased her. She was born in Northbridge, daughter of Joseph and Anna (Wojnar) Podsiadlo, and attended Worcester Girls Trade High School.

Mrs. Klocek worked for the former Fisher Manufacturing Co., and also ran Klocek's Variety Store along with her husband for 20 years.

She was a member of St. James Church, the Grafton Senior Citizens, the Polish National Home, and the Polish National Alliance.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, Feb. 7, from Misiaszek Funeral Home, 124 Main St., South Grafton, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. James Church, 89 Main St. South Grafton. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, South Grafton. Calling hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, in the funeral home.

Sean A. Kolton, 23

WEBSTER -- Sean A. Kolton, 23, of 610 Beacon Park, died Monday, Jan. 29, at home after an illness. Funeral arrangements, under the direction of Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., Auburn, are incomplete.

WEBSTER -- The funeral service for Sean A. Kolton, 23, of 610 Beacon Park, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, in Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., Auburn. Mr. Kolton died Sunday, Jan. 28, at home after an illness. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn. Calling hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, in the funeral home.

He leaves his mother, Pamela (Booth) Kolton of Webster; his father, Stephen Kolton of Holden; a brother, Shane Kolton of Chicago; a sister, Kayla Kolton of Webster; a stepsister, Christine Gagnon of Spencer; his maternal grandparents, Royal and Esther (Jerzak) Booth of Auburn; and his paternal grandmother, Nellie Dupell of North Brookfield. He was born in Worcester and was raised in Webster. He attended Bartlett High School and Bay Path Regional Vocational Technical High School, Charlton.

Mr. Kolton was an electrician's assistant at DiLeo Electrical Contractor Inc., Worcester. He was briefly a brick and stone layer, and aspired to be a stonemason. He was an accomplished baseball player, and played in Webster and Grafton all-star leagues. He collected baseball cards.

Kostas Koumanelis, 75

WORCESTER -- Kostas Koumanelis, 75, of 45 Dover St., a retired chef, died Monday, Feb. 5, at home.

He leaves his wife of 50 years, Andigoni (Pantos) Koumanelis; two daughters, Irene K. Logan of Worcester and Mary D. Margaritis of Columbus, Ohio; a brother, Christo Koumanelis of Argirocastro, Albania; three grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in Sotira, Albania, son of Stratis and Agathi (Houtas) Koumanelis, and came to Worcester in 1956.

Mr. Koumanelis was a chef at Nick's Colonial Grill and at Tudor Motor Inn, retiring in 1990. He was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, its Senior Citizens, the Order of A.H.E.P.A. (American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association), and the Pan-Epirotic Society.

The funeral will be held Friday, Feb. 9, from O'Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Ave., with a service at 11 a.m. in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell St. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell St., Worcester, MA 01609; or to Alzheimer's Association of Eastern Massachusetts, 36 Cameron Ave., Cambridge, MA 02140.

Rose Kozlowski, 79

WESTMINSTER -- Rose (Battistella) Kozlowski, 79, of 56 Colony Road, a former bookkeeper and baker, died Wednesday, Jan. 24, at her daughter's home in East Templeton, after an illness.

Her husband, Walter Kozlowski, died in 1977. She leaves a daughter, Johanna Kozlowski of Templeton; a son, Kenneth Kozlowski of Templeton; and two sisters, Maria Lepp of Fitchburg and Laura Fantozzi of Leominster. She was born in Fitchburg, daughter of Domenick and Giovanni (Parolin) Battistella, and moved to Westminster in 1957.

Mrs. Kozlowski was a bookkeeper for Headstrom Union, a baker for Westminster Elementary School, and a bookkeeper at a Gardner prison before her retirement. She was a member of St. Edward the Confessor Church and its Women's Guild, the Westminster Women's Club and the Friendship Club.

The funeral will be held Saturday, Jan. 27, from the Westminster Chapel of Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 123 Main St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Edward the Confessor Church, 10 Church St. Burial will be in Woodside Cemetery. Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gardner Visiting Nurses Association, 340 Pearly Lane, Gardner, MA 01440.

Stanislava J. Kulisanski

ATHOL -- Stanislava J. (Tamulionis) Kulisanski, 88, of 269 Intervale Ave., a former business owner and operator, died Friday, Feb. 2, in Quabbin Valley Healthcare, after an illness.

Her husband of 33 years, William M. Kulisanski, died in 1980. She leaves a son, Vincent I. Kulisanski of Athol; a daughter, Christine A. Kulisanski of Amarillo, Texas; and a grandson. She was born in Orange, daughter of George and Emilija (Zakstaici) Tamulionis, and was raised and educated in Lithuania. She came to Athol in the 1930s.

With her husband, Mrs. Kulisanski owned and operated Bill's Market for 30 years. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church and its Women's Guild, and the Knights of Lithuania. She enjoyed reading and flower gardening.

The funeral will be held Tuesday, Feb. 6, from J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home, 137 Main St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 105 Main St. Burial will be in Silver Lake Cemetery. Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Francis of Assisi Church Building Fund, 105 Main St., Athol, MA 01331; or to Athol Memorial Hospital, 2033 Main St., Athol, MA 01331.

Charles M. LaCrosse

GRAFTON -- Charles M. LaCrosse, 78, of 6 Jay St., North Grafton, formerly of Millbury, a former business owner and a veteran of World War II, died Friday, Feb. 2, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center, Worcester, after being stricken ill at home.

He leaves his wife of 54 years, Blanche M. (Grenier) LaCrosse; three brothers, Donald LaCrosse of Worcester, and Robert and William LaCrosse, both of Millbury; two sisters, Margaret Stockwell and Rita Koziara, both of Millbury; nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by three brothers, Edward F., Charles and William LaCrosse; and seven sisters, Eleanor Lynn, Barbara Gary, Evelyn James, Dorothy Minney, Elizabeth Riedle, Bernice Parmeleau and Mabel Stockwell. He was born in Millbury, son of Edward and Mary (Lynch) LaCrosse, and lived 35 years in North Grafton. He attended Millbury High School. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

Mr. LaCrosse owned and operated several automobile service stations in Worcester and Millbury for 12 years, and then owned and operated two taxies for Arrow Cab, Worcester, for 15 years. He later worked 10 years at Jeffco Fibers, formerly in Millbury and now in Webster. Mr. LaCrosse retired in 1990.

He was a member of St. Mary's Church, and a former member of St. Brigid's Church, Millbury. He enjoyed gardening.

The funeral will be held Tuesday, Feb. 6, from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., Millbury, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Brigid's Church, 59 Main St., Millbury. Burial will be in Central Cemetery, Millbury. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.

Charles M. LaCrosse

GRAFTON -- The funeral for Charles M. LaCrosse, 78, of 6 Jay St., North Grafton, who died Friday, Feb. 2, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center, Worcester, has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 7, from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., Millbury, with a Mass at 1 p.m. in St. Brigids Church, 59 Main St., Millbury. Burial will be in Central Cemetery, Millbury. Calling hours are rescheduled for 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, in the funeral home.

Rachel LaFleche, 74

SOUTHBRIDGE -- Rachel (Laroche) LaFleche, 74, of Pond Factory Road, Woodstock, Conn., and formerly of High Street, a retired employee of the American Optical Company, died Monday, Jan. 29, in Harrington Memorial Hospital after an illness.

Her husband, Alfred G. LaFleche, died in 1990. She leaves two sons, Alfred LaFleche of West Springfield and Dennis LaFleche of Springfield; a sister, Yvette Oathout of Southbridge; nephews, including, Peter LaFleche, with whom she lived, and nieces; grandnephews and grandnieces. She was born in Southbridge, daughter of Joseph and Cecilia (Metevier) Laroche, and lived most of her life there, before moving to Woodstock in 2000.

Mrs. LaFleche worked for the American Optical Company for many years, before retiring in 1980. She was member of Notre Dame Church.

The funeral will be Thursday, Feb. 1, from the Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy St., with a Mass at noon in Notre Dame Church, 446 Main St. Burial will be in New Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31. Flowers may be sent, or memorial contributions made to the Restoration Fund of Notre Dame Church, 61 Marcy St., Southbridge, MA 01550.

Armand J. LaFosse, 84

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. -- Armand J. LaFosse, 84, of Santa Cruz, formerly of Fitchburg, Mass., died Jan. 29 in Dominican Hospital after a long illness.

He leaves his wife of 29 years, Ginette LaFosse; a son, David LaFosse of Summerton, S.C.; a daughter, Pat Wilber of East Templeton, Mass.; a stepson, Robert Souperon of New Hampshire; a stepdaughter, Elaine Pascal of Santa Cruz; two brothers, Alfred LaFosse of California and Aimee LaFosse of Fitchburg; two sisters, Bea Siart and Peg Hanley, both of Santa Cruz; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. His first wife, Margaret (Bryant) LaFosse, died in 1968. He was born in Fitchburg, son of Alfred and Virginia LaFosse, and lived 26 years in Santa Cruz. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Mr. LaFosse was a building contractor, and owned a business in Westminster, Mass., from 1954 to 1963. He owned and operated a motel in Woodstock, N.H. from 1963 to 1968. He did maintenance work 10 years for the former Crocker Paper Mill in Fitchburg. He was involved in many remodeling projects after the 1989 Earthquake.

The funeral services were held Feb. 2 in Pacific Garden Chapel, Santa Cruz. Burial was in Soquel Cemetery. Donations may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.

Florence D. Lagerstrom McGeary, 82

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Florence D. (Anderson) Lagerstrom McGeary, 82, of Tucson, Ariz., formerly of West Boylston and South Yarmouth, a food service director, died Monday, Jan. 1, at the Life Care Center of Auburn.

Her first husband, Louis A. Lagerstrom, died in 1982. Her second husband, James McGeary, died in 1991. She leaves two sons, Paul G. Lagerstrom, of Boulder City, Nev. and Philip A. Lagerstrom of West Boylston; a daughter, Louise A. Chartier of North Oxford; a sister, Ethel M. Linder of Sutton; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Evald and Maria (Bengston) Anderson.

Mrs. McGeary was a food service director for the Holden Nursing Home and the Camp Calumet Lutheran, West Ossippee, N.H. She was also a school bus driver for West Boylston.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, in Christ Lutheran Church, 112 Crescent St., West Boylston. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Camp Calumet Lutheran c/o Christ Lutheran Church, 112 Crescent St., West Boylston, 01583. The National Cremation Service, 86 Copeland St., Quincy, is directing arrangements.

Ralph T. Lajoie, 73

TEMPLETON -- Ralph T. Lajoie, 73, of 217 South Main St., died Sunday, Jan. 28, in the UMass Memorial Medical Center -- Memorial Campus, Worcester, after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 46 years, Elizabeth A. (Fletcher) Lajoie; two sons, Steven W. Lajoie of Orange and Jeffrey A. Lajoie of Templeton; a daughter, Jayne A. Boris of Gardner; four sisters, Irene Webber and Grace Strout of Baldwinville, Helen Gifford of Northville, N.Y., and Elaine Johns of Gardner; three grandchildren; several nephews and nieces. He was born in Gardner, son of Theodore and Ruth (Erickson) Lajoie, and moved to Templeton in 1954. He graduated from Gardner High School in 1945. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He later served in the Navy reserves and the Army.

Mr. Lajoie was a maintenance worker 11 years at Mount Wachusett Community College, Gardner, before retiring. He previously worked many years for the George B. Bent Furniture Co. in Athol and Gardner, and at the former Gardner Hardware Co.

He was a life member of the Templeton Fish and Game Club and a member of Ovila Case Post 905 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Gardner. An avid sportsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, in the Smith Funeral Home, 69 Vernon St., Gardner. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. A calling hour will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, in the funeral home. Donations may be made to the Templeton Fire Department Rescue Squad, PO Box 4, Baldwinville, MA 01436 or a charity.

Mary E. Lampson, 94

RUTLAND -- Mary E. (Green) Lampson, 94, formerly of 106 Main St., a retired nurse and a former school crossing guard, died Thursday, Jan. 25, in Holden Nursing Home, Holden.

Her husband, John C. Lampson, died in 1994. She leaves two sons, John C. Lampson Jr. of Vernon, Conn., and Paul C. Lampson of Rutland; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A son, Donald Lampson of Rutland, and a grandson both died in 1993. Two brothers, Harold and Sallon Green, and two sisters, Doris Mullaney and Inez McCaffrey, also predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Charles and Delia (Kane) Green, and moved to Rutland 15 years ago. She was a graduate of Commerce High School, Worcester.

Mrs. Lampson was a licensed practical nurse at the Worcester Memorial Medical Center -- Hahnemann Campus, Worcester, for many years. She also was a crossing guard at the May Street School in Worcester for many years.

The funeral will be held Saturday, Jan. 27, from Rice Funeral, 300 Park Ave., Worcester, with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, 258 Main St. Burial will be in the spring in Rural Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made the to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Massachusetts Chapter, 101 First Ave., Waltham, MA 02154; or to any charity.

RUTLAND -- The funeral for Mary E. (Green) Lampson, 94, formerly of 106 Main St., will be held Saturday Jan. 27, from Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave., Worcester, with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, 258 Main St. Mrs. Lampson died Thursday, Jan. 25, in Holden Nursing Home. Spring burial will be in Rural Cemetery, Worcester. There are no calling hours.

Her husband, John C. Lampson, died in 1994. She leaves two sons, John C. Lampson Jr. of Vernon, Conn., and Paul C. Lampson of Rutland; a daughter, Bernardine Stoddard of Kittery, Maine, and Fort Pierce, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A son, Donald Lampson of Rutland and a grandson, both died in 1993. Two brothers, Harold and Fallon Green, and two sisters, Doris Mullaney and Inez McCaffrey, also predeceased her.
