Mary Louise Hubler, 50

Hyannis - Mary Louise (Tangney) Hubler, 50, died Friday, July 10, 1998 at Cape Cod Hospital Extended Care Community Pavilion after a long battle with cancer.

She is survived by her husband, Eric F. Hubler.

Mrs. Hubler was born in Quincy and was a graduate of Roslindale High School. She attended the Massachusetts General School of Nursing.

A longtime resident of West Roxbury, she moved to Orleans in1979 and to Hyannis in 1981.

Mrs. Hubler was a certified nurse's aide for the Visiting Nurses Association of Central Cape Cod, and was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church.

She was active with Silent Spring and the Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Hubler is survived by three daughters, Katie J. Hubler, Jillian M. Hubler and Meaghan E. Hubler, all of Hyannis; one brother, Bryan D. Tangney of West Roxbury and one sister, Paula M. Tangney, also of West Roxbury.

A funeral Mass was held in St. Francis Xavier Church, Hyannis.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice House, 88 Railroad Ave., Barnstable, MA 02630; or to Hyannis Fire Department Rescue Squad, 95 High School Road Ext, Hyannis, MA 02601.

Caroline.M. Latham, 66

Bridgton, Maine - Caroline M. (Lippe) Latham, 66, a former Marstons Mills resident, died Friday, July 10, 1998 at the Northern Cumberland Memorial Hospital in Bridgton after a brief illness.

She was the wife of the late Theodore Latham and Warren E. Davis.

Born in Cambridge, Mass., Mrs. Latham graduated from St. John's School in 1948 and worked as a reservationist for Pan American Airlines.

She moved to Marstons Mills in 1963, where she lived for many years and worked at Cecil I. Goodspeed & Son Insurance Agency in Osterville.

Mrs. Latham was a resident of Paradise Park in Punta Gorda, Fla., during the winter months since 1985.

She enjoyed cooking, knitting and reading.

Surviving are five sons, Michael W. Davis of Encinitas, Calif., Joseph "Josie Dee" Davis of Centerville, Glenn K. Davis of Centerville, Timothy M. Davis of Raymond and Jonathan E. Davis of Watertown, Mass.; a daughter, Ann M. Ring of Marstons Mills; two stepdaughters, Thea "Kimmy" MacLennan of Brushton, N.Y., and Anne Williamson of Centerville; two sisters, Mary Edith Leahy of Arlington, Mass., and Ann E. Lee of Burlington, Mass.; 10 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and three nephews.

Following cremation, her ashes will be scattered at sea off Cape Cod. Services are private.

Norma E. Lawson, 74

Centerville - Norma E. (Kendall) Lawson, 74, a homemaker, died unexpectedly June 24, 1998 at her home.

She was the wife of Kenwood H. Lawson for 52 years.

Born, raised and educated in Rockland, she moved to Abington in 1952 and then to Centerville in 1969.

After graduating from high school, Mrs. Lawson was employed by New England Telephone in Rockland as an operator. She worked there for a number of years before leaving to raise a family and become a homemaker.

She enjoyed skiing, crafts and her family.

Surviving besides her husband are two sons, Kenwood L. Lawson of South Yarmouth and Peter J. Lawson of Sandwich; a brother, Kenneth Kendall of Brockton; five grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

A memorial service was held at the United Methodist Church, Osterville. Burial was private.

Dr. John W. Lingos, 85

Brockton - Dr. John W. Lingos, 85, who leaves a daughter in Hyannis, died Monday, July 6, 1998 at his home in Brockton after a long battle with prostate cancer.

He was the husband of the late Sonia Anna (Wisoteky) Lingos.

A lifelong resident of Brockton, he attended Brockton public schools, graduating from Brockton High School in 1931 and later from Boston College and Middlesex Medical School.

At the age of 4, Dr. Lingos contracted diphtheria, a condition requiring an emergency tracheotomy that resulted in the loss of his voice. Over the next 10 years, he underwent approximately 60 operations to mend his severed vocal cord. He said it was this extensive hospital exposure that led him to become interested in medicine.

He was known for his support of many charitable and civic groups in the Brockton, Boston and Cape Cod communities, including projects in the fields of education, medical research, religion, the arts and wildlife protection.

Dr. Lingos worked at Goddard Memorial Hospital in Stoughton for more than 40 years, serving as chief anesthesiologist and also as president of the medical staff and a member of the hospital's board of trustees. He was also the Brockton High School football team physician for more than 50 years.

He was a communicant of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Brockton, where he served as a member of the parish council for more than 50 years and was council president for four terms.

He enjoyed dancing, gardening, painting and world traveling, as well as playing poker and the stock market. He was an avid photographer.

He is survived by four daughters, Thalia Lingos Huser of Brussels, Belgium, Tasha Lingos of Midway, Utah, Dr. Tania Lingos Webb of Milton and Tamara Lingos Utley of Hyannis; four grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

A funeral service was held at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Brockton. Burial followed in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton.

Memorial donations may be made to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 457 Oak St., Brockton, MA 02401; or the Brockton Public Library Building Fund, 304 Main St., Brockton, MA 02401.

Elizabeth Petridis, 88

Centerville - Elizabeth (Jozsy) Petridis, 88, a resident of Hyannis and most recently Boca Raton, Fla., died Saturday, July 10, 1998 at the Cape Regency Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Centerville.

She was the wife of the late George Petridis.

Born in New York City, Mrs. Petridis was educated in New York and in Europe, where she became fluent in five languages. She attended Mitchell College in New York and received a degree in design and pattern making for ladles and costume design and illustration.

She worked as a dress designer before moving to Cape Cod in1946.

Mrs. Petridis and her late husband owned and operated Crosby's Coffee Cup and Parkway Guest House in Hyannis, and the Little New Yorker Restaurant in Falmouth.

She enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing and needlework. An accomplished award-winning needlecrafter, she taught needlepoint in Boca Raton, Fla.

Surviving are two daughters, Adrianne Lawson of Osterville and Marie Etchells of Canton; a son, Harry Petridis of Worcester; a sister, Irene Trulley of Hyannis; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held at the JohnLawrence Funeral Home, Marstons Mills. Burial was in Mosswood Cemetery, Cotuit.

Memorial donations may be made to St. George's Greek Orthodox Church, Centerville, MA.

William Adamonis, 62

West Barnstable - William Adamonis, 62, a retired machinist and truck driver, died Friday, July 10, 1998 at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis.

He was the husband ofYvonne A. Adamonis.

Born and educated in Worcester, he served in the Marine Corps from 1956 to 1959 as a lance corporal.

Mr. Adamonis was employed by the Worcester Gear Works for 36 years, retiring in 1995. He was a machinist and truck driver.

He was a resident of Worcester until 1970 when he moved to Sutton where he lived until 1995. He moved to Barnstable after his retirement in 1995.

An avid hunter and fisherman, he was a member of the Worcester Striper Club and achieved top honors in fishing derbies.

He was also a member of Our Lady of Hope Church in West Barnstable and the Massachusetts Beach Buggy Association of Cape Cod.

Surviving besides his wife are a brother, John Adamonis of Worcester; and a sister, Anna Polinski of Auburn.

A funeral service was held at Our Lady of Hope Church in West Barnstable. Burial was private.

William H. Britton, 73

Barton, Vermont - William H. Britton, 73, a retired building contractor, died Tuesday, July 14, 1998 at the Hospice House in Barnstable from cancer.

He was the husband of Pricilla "Pat" Britton and of Pricilla (Gauley) Britton, who died in 1971.

Mr. Britton was born in Cambridge, Mass., and was a former resident of Barnstable. Upon retirement, he moved to Vermont where he and his wife Pat operated a bed-and-breakfast in the summer and fall.

He wintered in Venice, Fla., where he was a member of the Colonial Manor Homewoners Association and attended the Grace United Methodist Church.

During World War II, he served in the Navy as a radioman aboard the USS Luce DD522 and the USS Kenneth Whiting AV14.

While on Cape Cod, he was a volunteer fireman for the Barnstable Fire Department, past president of the Cape Cod Foresters and Firefighters Association, on the board of directors of the Bass River Rod and Gun Club, a member of the Old Kings Highway Historical Commission and a former member of West Parish Congregational Church.

Besides his wife, he is survived by four sons, Stephen Britton and Jon Britton, both of West Barnstable, Scott Britton of Bellingham and Chris Britton of Sandwich; a daughter, Lori Trant of Hudson, N.H.; a brother, Norman Britton of Las Vegas; a sister, Judith Knight of West Bridgewater; two half-brothers, Arthur Britton of Bridgewater and Walter Britton of Florida; two stepdaughters, Robin Fardy of Mashpee and Kathy Piper of Olean, N.Y.; two stepsons, George Fardy of Centerville and Douglas Fardy of Denver, Colorado; 23 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service and burial were held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

Laura S. Perkins, 83

Hyannis - Laura (Simao) Perkins, 83, who leaves a son in Harwich, died Monday, July 13, 1998 at Cape Cod Extended Care Community Manor in Hyannis.

She was the wife of the late Joseph E. Perkins, Sr.

Born in Fall River, Mrs. Perkins moved to Portugal as a child and later returned to Fall River where she was raised. She was a graduate Durfee High School and Framingham State College.

She later moved to West Roxbury and worked as a bookkeeper and taught in the Boston Evening Adult Educaiton Program for Boston schools, teaching sewing, tailoring and home economics.

Mrs. Perkins was a former secretary of the National Association of Federal Employees and a former president of the Catholic Memorial Mothers Club.

A summer resident of Middleton, N.H., she moved there permanently in the early 1970s and became town clerk and later selectman until she left the area in 1992.

Surviving are a son, Joseph F. Perkins Jr. of Harwich; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was also the mother of the late David C. Perkins.

A funeral Mass was held at St. Theresa Church, West Roxbury. Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.
