Alice Millette, 71
Saturday, December 15, 2001

DUDLEY -- Alice (Antkowiak) Millette, 71, of 5 Elizabeth St., a retired medical secretary, died Friday, Dec. 14, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center after a short illness.

Her husband of 28 years, William H. Millette, died in 1978. She leaves a son, William J. Millette of Pomfret Center, Conn.; two brothers, Raymond and Richard Antkowiak, both of Auburn; three sisters, Dorothy Gelineau of Webster, Barbara George of Dudley, and Patricia Szczur of Grafton; a grandson; many nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Frank and Stanley Antkowiak, predeceased her. She was born in Webster, daughter of Stanley and Theresa (Dupre) Antkowiak, and lived most of her life in Dudley. She graduated from Bartlett High School in 1947.

Mrs. Millette was a medical secretary and receptionist many years for Fallon Health Care in Auburn, retiring in 1995.

She was a member of St. Andrew Bobola Church and volunteered at parish functions. She cooked and crocheted, and made hundreds of afghans.

The funeral will be held Monday, Dec. 17, from Bartel Funeral Home & Chapel, 33 Schofield Ave., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Andrew Bobola Church, 54 West Main St. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Calling hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph School Gymnasium Building Fund, St. Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb St., Webster, MA 01570.

Harry Lee Mushoe, 98
Monday, December 17, 2001

DUNEDIN, Fla. -- Harry Lee Mushoe, 98, a former high school principal in Charlton, Mass., died Monday, Dec. 10, in Mease Continuing Care Center after an illness.

He leaves his wife, Ethel M. (Moodis) Mushroe; a daughter, Joan M. Valeriani of Medford, Mass.; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Gladys W. (Webber) Mushroe, who died in 1960, and a son, Richard L. Mushroe. He was born in Princeton, Maine, son of Colly P. and Louzetta (Fickett) Mushroe, and graduated from Bowdoin College, where he was a member of the Chi Psi fraternity.

Mr. Mushoe had a lengthy career in education, including several years as principal of the former Charlton High School. He also served as superintendent of schools in Hadley, Mass., and Calais, Maine, before retiring to Florida in 1977. He was a 50-year member of the Masons and was active in the Rotary Club.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, in West Ridge Cemetery, Charlton. There are no calling hours. Robert J. Miller-Charlton Funeral Home, 175 Old Worcester Road, Charlton, is directing arrangements.

Marcia Oliver, 58, longtime nurse for area hospitals

HOLDEN -- Marcia (Driscoll) Oliver, 58, of 89 Paugus Road, a retired nurse, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, at her home, after a three-year struggle with ovarian cancer.

She leaves her husband of 34 years, Thomas E. Oliver Sr.; three sons, Thomas E. Oliver Jr. of Worcester, and Michael S. and Sean T. Oliver, both of Holden; two daughters, Margaret L. Oliver of Natick and Cheryl L. Oliver of Holden; a brother, Dennis M. Driscoll of Brockton; a sister, Carlene R. Rubino of Bridgewater; nieces and nephews. She was born in Brockton, daughter of Carl E. and Irene E. (St. Sauveur) Driscoll, and lived in Brockton and North Grafton before moving to Holden 27 years ago. She graduated from Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing, Boston.

Mrs. Oliver was a registered nurse for more than 20 years, retiring in 1985. She worked at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester and Holden District Hospital. She was a member of St. George Church.

The funeral will be held Saturday, Dec. 22, from Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St., Worcester, with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. George Church, 40 Brattle St., Worcester. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, in the funeral home.

Daniel C. Rae, 22
Sunday, December 16, 2001

BROAD TOP, Pa. -- Daniel C. Rae, 22, of HCR 01, a conservationist, died Thursday, Dec. 13, at J.C. Blair Hospital, Huntingdon, Pa.

He leaves his parents, Gary and Gail (Andrews) Rae, of Broad Top; a brother, Michael Rae of Whitinsville, Mass.; two sisters, Autumn Rae of Clifton, Va., and Colleen Rae of Broad Top; his paternal grandfather, Phillip Rae of Whitinsville; and his maternal grandparents, Herbert and Mary Andrews of Whitinsville. He attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh.

Mr. Rae was involved with Americor and did conservation work with the Montana Conservation Corps. He worked in Yellowstone National Park, the Continental Divide and the Frank Church River of No Return in Idaho. He also worked for his father's business, Raystown Select Hardwoods, as a lumber inspector.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, in Beavertown Bible Church, Todd, Pa. Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, in Beavertown Bible Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Montana Conservation Corps., 1900 North Main St., Helena, MT 59601. Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Ridgeley Street, Orbisonia, Pa., is directing arrangements.

Martin J. Vrabel Jr., 75; World War II veteran

WEBSTER -- Martin J. Vrabel Jr., 75, of Racicot Avenue, a veteran of World War II, died Saturday, December 15, in the Hospice Residence, 10 Judith Road, Worcester, after a short illness.

He leaves his wife of 51 years, Gloria M. (D'Andrea) Vrabel; two sons, Richard M. Vrabel of Pittsgrove, N.J., and Martin F. Vrabel of Oakland, Calif; a daughter, Ellen E. Prestes of Thompson; three brothers, John Vrabel of Webster, and Edward Vrabel of Conover, N.C., and his twin brother, Adam Vrabel of Webster; five grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Three brothers, Peter Vrabel of Dudley, Andrew Vrabel of Thompson, and George Vrabel of Texas, and a sister, Mary Blanchette of Grosvenordale, predeceased him. He was born in Dudley, son of Martin and Anna (Tomasec) Vrabel Sr., and lived in Thompson, before moving to Webster 51 years ago. He attended Putnam Trade School. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, where he served in Asia and the Pacific Ocean as a seaman, first class.

Mr. Vrabel was a machinist at Whitin Machine Works in Whitinsville for 43 years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Jednota Branch 859KJ. He enjoyed gardening.

A Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, in St. Louis Church, 15 Lake Street, Webster. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Louis Church Endowment Fund, 15 Lake Street, Webster, MA 01570, or to the Hospice Residence, 10 Judith Road, Worcester, MA 01602. Harriet R. Wilson, 60
Monday, December 17, 2001

DUDLEY -- Harriet R. (Reed) Wilson, 60, of 32 Tanyard Road, an outdoors enthusiast, died Saturday, Dec. 15, at home.

She leaves her husband of 37 years, John S. Wilson; a son, John O. Wilson of Cape Coral, Fla.; and a daughter, Hilary S. Marsi of Dudley. She was the daughter of John W. and Alice (Berube) Reed and lived the past 32 years in Dudley. She graduated from Sunapee (N.H.) High School in 1959 and the University of New Hampshire in 1964.

Mrs. Wilson was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking and sewing. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church. She enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid gardener and bird watcher.

The funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 24 Dudley Hill Road. There are no calling hours. Burial will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, 1120 Connecticut Ave. Northwest, Suite 900, Washington, DC 20036. Bartel Funeral Home & Chapel, 33 Schofield Ave., is directing arrangements.

Samuel A. Andrewes, 86, group leader for 43 years
Monday, December 17, 2001

SPRINGFIELD -- Samuel A. Andrewes, 86, died Friday, Dec. 14, at home.

He leaves his wife 56 years, Frances (Telepciak) Andrewes; two sons, including Dr. David A. Andrewes of West Brookfield; a daughter; and eight grandchildren. A daughter, Mary Andrewes, predeceased him.

Mr. Andrewes worked 43 years as a group leader for American Bosch.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, in St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Plainfield Street. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17, in Sampson Chapel of the Acres, 21 Tinkham Road. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association -- Mass. Helen I. Arseneault, 93

WORCESTER -- Helen I. Arseneault, 93, formerly of 22 Scholan Terrace, Sterling, a retired nurse, died Saturday, Dec. 15, in the St. Francis Home after an illness.

She was born in Worcester, daughter of Henry and Delima (Beaudette) Arseneault.

Miss Arseneault worked as a nurse for many years at Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1973.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, in Holy Name of Jesus Church, 53 Illinois St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Alfred Roy and Sons Funeral Home, 12 Hammond St., is directing arrangements.

Herbert E. Atchue, 77
Sunday, December 16, 2001

GRAFTON -- Herbert E. Atchue, 77, of 20 D Forest Lane Village, formerly of North Main Street, a World War II veteran, died Saturday, Dec. 15, at home after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 53 years, Muriel J. (Plaint) Atchue; a son, Herbert C. Atchue of Worcester; two sisters, Dorothy Nicholson of Worcester and Barbara Comeau of Auburn; two brothers, Garfield Atchue of Grafton and Alden Atchue of Worcester; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Two sisters, Evelyn Belanger and Myrtle Strand and a brother, Israel "Bud" Atchue, predeceased him. He was born in Grafton, son of Herbert and Doris (Emino) Atchue. He was an Army veteran of World War II serving as a private in the medical corps.

Mr. Atchue worked for the Massachusetts Highway Department for 40 years at the Belmont Street Maintenance Depot in Worcester, retiring in 1988. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in the Wilkinsonville section of Sutton and a former member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in North Grafton, where he served on the vestry and building committee. He was a former coach in The Grafton Little League Baseball System and a member of the Massachusetts Retired State Employees Association.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 18, in St. John's Episcopal Church, Rt. 122A in the Wilkinsonville section of Sutton. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, North Grafton. Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17, at The Robert C. Roney Funeral Home, 152 Worcester St., North Grafton. Flowers may be sent or memorial donations made to UMass Memorial Hospice, c/o The Foundation, 16 Shaffner St. Worcester MA 01605.

Paul C. Aukstiklanis; World War II veteran
Tuesday, December 18, 2001

ATHOL -- Paul C. Aukstiklanis, 74, of 359 Cottage St., a World War II veteran, died Friday, Dec. 14, in Birchwood Care Center, Fitchburg, after an illness.

He leaves two sisters, Julia J. Offineer of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Frances K. Aukstikalnis of Athol; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A brother, Peter R. Aukstikalnis of Gardner, died in 1995. He was born in Gardner, son of Charles and Agnes (Parnarauskas) Aukstikalnis.

Mr. Aukstikalnis served 23 years with the Navy, including World War II. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, in St. John's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 6 Strathmore Road, Natick, MA 01760. Boucher Funeral Home, 110 Nichols St., Gardner, is directing arrangements.

Lena Baldelli, 83
Saturday, December 15, 2001

SOUTHBORO -- Lena (Bertonassi) Baldelli, 83, of Southboro, died Friday, Dec. 14, in MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham.

She leaves her husband of 63 years, Henry "Andy" Baldelli; two daughters, Pauline Carlson of Grafton and Kathy Rivolla of Bellingham; six sisters, Alice Phillipo, Irene Baldelli, and Rita Bertonassi, all of Southboro, Dorothy Angelico and Sylvia Moro, both of Westboro, and Margaret Baraioli of Milford; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. A daughter, Irene Maguire, and a brother, Carl Bertonassi, predeceased her. She was born in Southboro, daughter of Marcemo and Albena (Berne) Bertonassi, and attended the former St. Peter's High School.

Mrs. Baldelli worked in the engineering department for Fenwal-Baxter Labs in Framingham and at P.I.E., and later worked in the town collector's office. She retired in 1988.

She enjoyed bowling and was a member of St. Matthew Church and its Catholic Women's Club.

The funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, in St. Matthew's Church, Southville Road. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery. Calling hours are from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, in Morris Funeral Home, 40 Main St. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701; or ALS, 27001 Agoura Road, Suite 150, Calabassas Hills, CA 91301.

Carol F. Belle, 66
Tuesday, December 18, 2001

OXFORD -- Carol F. (Monahan) Belle, 66, of Oxford, a nurses aid, died Sunday, Dec. 16, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center, Worcester, after a brief illness.

Her husband of 22 years, Frank J. Belle Jr. of Sutton, died in 1980. She leaves two daughters, Gayle A. Wallace of Sutton and Maureen E. Maynard of Oxford; a sister, Marilyn W. Hopkins of Holden; four grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Walter F. and Marion W. (Carroll) Monahan, and lived in Sutton for 22 years and South Grafton for 16 years, before moving to Oxford 6 years ago. She graduated from St. Peter's High School, Worcester, in 1955.

Mrs. Belle was a nurses aide at Westboro State Hospital, Westboro, for 14 years, retiring in 1996. Previously, she was a nurses aide in Beaumont Nursing Home in Northbridge and was a clerical worker at Norton Company, Worcester, many years ago.

A funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, December 19, from Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main Street, Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Ann's Church, 652 Main Street, North Oxford. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 18, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Ann's Church, PO Box 488, North Oxford, MA 01537, or to a charity.

Raymond L. Boccia, 61

LEOMINSTER -- Raymond L. Boccia, 61, of 44 Keystone Drive, a retired business owner, died Sunday, Dec. 16, in the Keystone Center, after a lengthy illness.

He leaves four sons, Stephen L., Kevin G. and Gary W. Boccia, all of Leominster and Douglas R. Boccia of Gardner; a daughter, Paula A. Boccia of Leominster; a brother, David Boccia of Fitchburg; a sister, Lois Glasgow of Fitchburg; four grandchildren; several nephews and nieces. He was born in Keene, N.H., son of Nascenzio R. and Loreta (Boisvert) Boccia, and lived 37 years here.

Mr. Boccia owned and operated R & R Floor Covering for several years, before retiring due to illness. He was a member of St. Leo's Church and the Knights of Columbus.

A funeral will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 19, from Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Leo's Church, 128 Main St. Burial will be in St. Leo's Cemetery. Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Keystone Center Activity Fund, 44 Keystone Drive, Leominster, MA 01453.
