JOHN M. PATTERSON
TROUTVILLE, Va. - John Milton Patterson, age 83, of Troutville, and formerly of Cumberland, md., died Monday, Oct. 26, 1998.
He was the founder of Patterson Boat Company on Deep Creek Lake.
He is survived by his wife, Rae Anna Patterson, Troutville; one son, Thomas M. Patterson, Cumberland; one step-daughter, Sandra Thompson, Troutville; and several grandchildren.
Funeral services will be private.
MARIE M. PATTERSON
FROSTBURG - Marie M. Patterson, 83, of the Frostburg Village Nursing Care Center, formerly of East Street, Frostburg, died Thursday, Nov. 12, 1998, at the nursing home. Born June 13, 1915, in Shaft, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Elsie (Miller) Canning. Mrs. Patterson was a former employee at the Celanese Corp. and the Kelly-Springfield Tire Co., and retired from the HP Store in LaVale. She also formerly owned and operated Patterson's Grocery. She attended Faith Baptist Church, Frostburg, and was a former member and tour director for the Frostburg Senior Citizens. Surviving are her husband, Ralph K. Patterson, Frostburg; a daughter, Lois J. Rank and husband James, Willis Wharf, Va.; two sisters, Eleanor Walter and husband Maurice, and Eileen Canning, all of Linthicum Heights; a brother, Joseph S. Canning and wife Betty, Linthicum Heights; two grandsons, Kenneth Jay Rank, Willis Wharf, and Robert K. Rank and wife Cathy, Chesapeake Beach; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with Pastor David Childs officiating. Interment will be in the Frostburg Memorial Park.
RUTH T. PATTERSON
LAVALE - Ruth T. Patterson, age 83, of 17 Glenview Terrace, LaVale, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998, at her residence.
Born July 20, 1915, she was the daughter of the late John and Nellie (Kreiling) Thomas. She was also preceded in death by five brothers, Ralph, Jack, Emerson and Richard Thomas and Morgan Ball; and two sisters, Bertha and Nellie Thomas. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Patterson was a retired English teacher from Fort Hill High School and Northern Garrett High School. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Frostburg.
Surviving are one son, Thomas Patterson and wife, Sharon, Vale Summit; one granddaughter, Jennifer Moroney and husband, Kevin, Poolsville; and one grandson, Troy Patterson, Frostburg.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Steve Shussett officiating.
Interment will be in the Frostburg Memorial Park.
GENEVIEVE N. PAUGH
DEER PARK - Genevieve N. Paugh, 93, of Deer Park, died Monday, Feb. 23, 1998, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born Nov. 16, 1904, in Deer Park, she was a daughter of the late Michael Madigan and Elizabeth (McRobie) Madigan. She also was preceded in death by her husband, William McKinley Paugh; and one daughter, Dolly June Paugh.
Mrs. Paugh retired from Garrett County Memorial Hospital, where she worked for many years as a nurses aide. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, and was a 50-year member of the Deer Park Homemakers Club.
Surviving are four daughters, Bonnie Fitzwater, Mountain Lake Park, Lois Lee Simmons, Elkins, W.Va., Rosealice Shaffer and Peggy Lou Harvey, both of Oakland; four grandchildren,; and three great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Father Richard Spencer officiating.
Interment will be in the Deer Park cemetery.

CHARLOTTE HALL - James "Jim" Ronald Payne Sr., 70, of Charlotte Hall, formerly of Hyattsville, died Wednesday, March 11, 1998, at the Civista Medical Center, LaPlata.
He was the son of the late Clyde Cromwell Payne and Alive Virginia (Goodrich) Payne.
Mr. Payne was formerly employed with the U.S. Postal Service. He was a veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife Doris Alene (Logston) Payne; two sons, John W. Payne, Alexandria, Va., and James R. "Ronnie" Payne Jr., Waldorf; a daughter, Bonnie S. Tabick, Waldorf; two sisters, Doris Dean and Mary Twigg, both of Cumberland; three grandchildren, James "Jaime" P. Payne, Mechanicsville, Stephanie A. Tabick and Chadd E. Tuttle, both of Waldorf; a great-grandson, Chadd E. Tuttle Jr.; a son-in-law, George J. Tabick, Waldorf, and daughter-in-law, Jackie Payne, Waldorf.
Friends will be received at the Huntt Funeral Home, 3035 Washington Road, Waldorf, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Services will be held there on Wednesday, March 18, 1998, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Edward Baker officiating. Interment will be in the Maryland Veterans cemetery, Cheltenham.
NORMA M. PEARCE
MCCOOLE - Norma M. Pearce, 84, of 25310 Parkland Drive, McCoole, died Thursday, Nov. 19, 1998, at the Egle Nursing Home, Lonaconing. Born on Aug. 4, 1914, at Keyser, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Joseph W. and Leigh (Smith) Malcolm. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin F. Pearce, on Dec. 21, 1971; one son, Alvin W. Pearce; two sisters, Wilma Taylor and Jody Fitzpatrick; and by one great-granddaughter, Jessica Pearce. Mrs. Pearce was a retired machine operator in the coning department with the Celanese Amcelle Plant. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Keyser, and Women of the Moose, Chapter #191, Keyser. She also served as a former 4-H leader, Cub Scout leader, and was a Gray Lady at Potomac Valley Hospital Surviving are two sons, Charles Pearce and wife, Weezie, McCoole, John Patrick Pearce and wife, Carol, Burlington, W.Va.; one daughter, Norma Barbe, Cumberland; one sister, Helen Strother, Rawlings; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Rotruck-Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Daniel Garlitz officiating. Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
EVELYN "MAM MAW" RUTH PECK
CUMBERLAND - Evelyn "Mam Maw" Ruth Peck, 80, formerly of 21 Cresap St., Cumberland, and residing at 134 Blackiston Ave., Cumberland, died Saturday, Oct. 17, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born May 1, 1918, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Major Thomas Lee and the late Eva Rose (Johnson) Lee Ashby. She was also preceded in death by her husband, the late Thomas Clarence Peck on Oct. 14, 1986; and a daughter, Yvonne Yvette Peck.
Mrs. Peck was a member of McKendree United Methodist Church.
Surviving are five sons, Robert Thomas Peck and wife, Anita, Cumberland, Richard Floyd Peck and wife, Kathy, Cumberland, Leroy Lee Peck and wife, Christine, Hagerstown, Bruce Edward Peck and wife, Nitra, Cumberland, and Lyle Peck and wife, Leontyne, Cumberland; three daughters, Jacqueline Cooper and husband, John, Cumberland, Bonita Austin, Cumberland, Darlene "Shelly" Garner and husband, Mike, Frederick; a sister, Vivian Colbert and husband, William, Cumberland; 23 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., with the Rev. Theodore Higby officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
GEORGE J. PERKINS SR.
CHESAPEAKE BEACH - George J. Perkins Sr., 57, of Chesapeake Beach, died Monday, Sept. 7, 1998, at his residence.
Born July 18, 1941, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late George L. and Catherine E. (Villa) Perkins.
Mr. Perkins was a private contractor with North American Telecommunications Inc. He was retired from the United States Drug Enforcement Agency and had served in the U.S. Air Force for eight years. He was a member of the VFW 7950 in Chesapeake Beach.
Surviving are his wife, Olga (Weist) Perkins; two sons, George J. Perkins Jr. and wife Jean, Littleton, Colo., and David W. Perkins, Phoenix; one daughter, Rhonda Jacobs and husband Thaddeus, Broomfield, Colo.; one brother, Verl Perkins, Frostburg; one sister, Mary C. Vinson, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. George Aist officiating.
Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap, Flintstone. Military honors will be accorded at graveside by Farrady Post 24 American Legion.
KATHERINE E. PERRY
CUMBERLAND - Katherine E. Perry, 90, formerly of Route 3, Clearville, Pa., died Saturday, March 21, 1998, at New Hope.
Born March 21, 1908, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late John W. Harper and Hattie C. (Bovey) Harper. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Earsel Leo Perry, on Oct. 4, 1989.
Mrs. Perry was a member of Prosperity Christian Church, Chaneysville, Pa.
Surviving are one sister, June Burkey, Cumberland; two nephews, Ronald W. Burkey and wife Donna, and John L. Burkey and wife Debbie, one grandnephew, J.R. Burkey, and one grandniece, Stephanie L. Burkey, all of Cumberland.
Funeral services will be held at the Kight Funeral Home, 309-311 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. John Miller officiating.
Interment will be in the Prosperity Christian cemetery, Chaneysville.
Pallbearers will be Ronald Burkey, John Burkey, J.R. Burkey, Dan Perrin, Craig Hartsock and Fermin Cruz.
