ANNA MARY SNYDER
MORANTOWN - Anna M. Snyder, 87, of New Hope Domiciliary, Cumberland, formerly of 16620 Blackberry Lane, S.W., Frostburg, died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 1998, at the nursing home. Born Dec. 25, 1910, in Zihlman, she was the daughter of the late John and Emma (Lehr) Miller. She also was preceded in death by her husband, William R. "Willie" Snyder; three brothers, Henry "Spoof" Miller, Robert Miller and Philip Miller; and two sisters, Ellen Geary and Kathryn McIntosh.
Mrs. Snyder was a homemaker. She was a member of St. George's Episcopal Church and the Church Women's Group, Mount Savage, and the Rebecca Arnold Chapter 57 Order of the Eastern Star.

Surviving are two daughters, Wilhelmina "Mina" Uhl, Ellicott City, and Gwen Watts and husband, John, Port Orange, Fla.; a son, Henry M. Snyder and wife, Mary Helen, Corriganville; two sisters, Elizabeth Ryan, Rawlings, and Eva Murphy, Houston, Texas; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandsons.

Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Members of the Rebecca Arnold Chapter 57 Order of the Eastern Star will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

A Litany for the Departed will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 8 p.m. A Requiem Eucharist will be celebrated at St. George's Episcopal Church, Mount Savage, on Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Harold Bishop as Celebrant. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

FRANCIS E. SNYDER
MOUNT SAVAGE - Francis E. Snyder, 61, of East Berlin, Pa., formerly of Mount Savage, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 1, 1998.
Born in Frostburg, he was the son of the late Francis "Ed" Snyder Sr. and Ethel (Sperry) Snyder. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Joann (Hartsell) Snyder; and a brother, Harold Raymond Snyder.

Mr. Snyder owned and operated a bed and breakfast and a butcher shop in Emporium, Pa., until his recent illness. He was a graduate of Mount Savage High School and a U.S. Navy veteran having served during the Korean Conflict.

Surviving in addition to his mother are Ethel Snyder, Frostburg, and his second wife, Kay Grove Snyder, of East Berlin; one daughter, two sons, and three grandchildren, all of the York, Pa., area; and two sisters, Geraldine Clutter, Baltimore, and Bonnie McQuait, Hagerstown.

Also surviving locally are aunts and uncle, Betty Lashley, Mount Savage, Jeannette Gomer, Irvin and Rena Sperry, Frostburg; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The body was cremated. There was no visitation.

MERIAM SNYDER
CUMBERLAND - Meriam (Wilhelm) Snyder, 77, of Cumberland, died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 1998, at her residence.
Born July 27, 1920, in Hyndman, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Walter and Daisy (Robb) Wilhelm. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. Snyder, on March 14, 1987.

Mrs. Snyder was a homemaker.

Surviving are four daughters, Rose Marie Mulligan, Judith Ann Wilson, Dolores Jane Welsh and husband Lennie, and Linda K. Giles, all of Cumberland; one son, James E. Snyder and wife Cheryl J., Cumberland; one sister, Doris Lutz and husband Harold; two brothers, Reid Wilhelm and wife Mildred, and Samuel Wilhelm, all of Hyndman; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 1 p.m. with Pastor John R. Herbst officiating.

Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be three grandsons James Snyder, Tony LaPorte and Brian Giles; and Arthur Derlan, Jeff Cutter and William Patch.

EMMA MARY SOETHE
CUMBERLAND - Emma Mary (Grabenstein) Soethe, 90, of Cumberland, died Tuesday, July 7, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital following a brief illness.
Born Nov. 4, 1907, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Stacer) Grabenstein. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl L. Soethe, in 1964; two grandchildren, John L. Nightingale Jr., and Jacqueline Marie Nightingale, in 1980; and one son, Charles J. Soethe, in 1994.

Mrs. Soethe was a lifelong member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, a member of the Third Order of St. Francis, and the Christian Mothers. She graduated from Ursuline Academy, Class of 1926. She was past president of Ursuline Alumni and the LaSalle Mothers Club and Christian Mothers. She also was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church Sewing Group, a former secretary of the North Cumberland Homemakers, and a life member of the A.A.R.P.

Surviving are one daughter, Emma Marie Nightingale; a son-in-law, Jack; one granddaughter, Jonel Marie Nightingale, all of Lonaconing; and a special nephew, Leroy Schooley, Cumberland.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. There will be a Christian Wake conducted on Wednesday at 8:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m. at the SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Vernon Busch, O.F.M., Cap. as celebrant.

Interment will be in the SS. Peter & Paul cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jim Starr, Richard Briner, Leroy Schooley, George Porter, William Blake and Timothy Nightingale.

The family requests contributions in memory of Mrs. Soethe be made to SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church.

HAZEL W. SOETHE
CUMBERLAND - Hazel W. Soethe, 91, formerly of Bedford Street, Cumberland, now residing at the Devlin Manor Nursing Home, died Thursday, Dec. 17, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Oct. 15, 1907, at Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Frederick Wolfe and Mary Jo (Wagner) Wolfe. Her husband, Joseph Soethe, died on Dec. 20, 1972.

Mrs. Soethe was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and a member and Past Regent of Court Cardinal A. Gibbons, Catholic Daughters of America.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are a nephew, Raymond E. Vernall and wife Joan, Poquoson, Va.; and a sister-in-law, Mary B. Wolfe, Davidsonville.

Friends will be received at the Kight Funeral Home, 309-311 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. only.

A Christian Wake will be held at the funeral home on Sunday at 3:45 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church on Monday at 10 a.m. with Father Vance Pastorius, OFM, Cap., officiating.

Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

ANNA A. "ANNIE" SACCO
FROSTBURG - Anna A. "Annie" Sacco, 90, of Frostburg, died Wednesday, April 8, 1998, at Frostburg Village Nursing Home where she had been a resident.
Born March 29, 1908, in Morantown, she was a daughter of the late Pasquale and Theresa (Imbrogno) Bommicino. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Pasquale Sacco, in 1970; four brothers; and one sister.

Mrs. Sacco was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and the Sodality.

Surviving are two daughters, Theresa Thomas and Mary Ann Whetstone and husband Philip, all of Frostburg; two sons, Albert Sacco and wife Nita, Niceville, Fla., and Patsy Sacco and wife Charlotte, Orlando, Fla.; 12 grandchildren, Jimmie Sacco and wife Patsy, Huntsville, Ala., Aundria LaSota and husband John, Niceville, Fla., Annette Capetillo and husband Bill, Mary Esther, Fla., John Thomas and wife Linda, Frostburg, Patty White and husband Skip, Silver Spring, Linda Burl and husband Artie, Westernport, Patty Robertson and husband Richard, and Michele Ray and husband Gary, all of Orlando, Fla., Tommy Connelly and wife Lisa, Fayetteville, N.C., Diane Loibel and husband Eric, LaVale, Karen Edwards and husband Joe and Kathy Loar and husband Wesley, all of Frostburg; 18 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Louise Palmer, Beverly Hills, Fla.; and two brothers, Frank Bommicino and Charles Bommicino, both of Beverly Hills, Fla.

Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main St., Frostburg, on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

There will be no visitation on Sunday.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael's Catholic Church on Monday at 10 a.m. with Father Paul A. Byrnes serving as celebrant.

Interment will be in St. Michael's cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael's Catholic Church.

CHARLES I. SAGER
FROSTBURG - Charles I. Sager, 89, of East College Avenue, Frostburg, died Sunday, Aug. 16, 1998, at the Cumberland Nursing Home.
He was born on Nov. 15, 1908, at Hutchinson, Kan., the son of the late Charles Sager and Alpha (Duflinger) Sager; his wife Ida Sophia (Gustafson) died in 1969.

Mr. Sager was a graduate of Kansas University, Lawrence, Kan., in 1930, and spent 49 years in the teaching profession. He taught in Buena Vista College, Storm Lake, Iowa, Baker University, Baldwin, Kan., Doane College, Grete, Neb., Westminster College, New Wilmington, Pa., Washburn University, Topeka, Kan. In 1954 he came to Frostburg State University, formerly Frostburg State Teachers College, where he served as Professor of Voice. He had 25 years with the university, and retired on July 1, 1979.

He was a member of Centre Street United Methodist Church where he served as the minister of music. He retired in 1992 with 38 years of service. He was the conductor of the Cumberland Choral Society for eight years and was a past president of the Tri-State Community Concert Association, a member of the Phi Mu Alpha National Music Fraternity, and was an honorary member of Pi Kappa Lamba-Music Scholarship Fraternity.

He is survived by one son, Gene Charles Sager and wife, Margarita, Vista, Calif; two grandchildren, Mariselo Sager and Benino Sager, both of Vista; a half-sister, Lila Kenny, Leavenworth, Kan.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at Centre Street United Methodist Church on Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Services will be held at the church on Tuesday at 1 p.m. The Rev. Lloyd B. McCanna will officiate.

Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Active pallbearers will be Dr. Nelson P. Guild, William G. Gray Jr., Dean A. Hancox, Richard E. College, James R. Hager and Ernest J. Leister.

Honorary pallbearers will be Frederick W. Hamilton III, Jack E. Livengood, Robert Thom, Charles Stewart and Larry Mayfield.

The family has requested that contributions take the form of donations to Centre Street United Methodist Church Sanctuary Choir Music Fund.

Another memorial service will be held at Centre Street United Methodist Church at a time and day to be announced later.

The Kight Funeral Home, 309-311 Decatur St., Cumberland, will be in charge of the arrangements.
