MIRIAM V. DAVIS
CUMBERLAND - Miriam Virginia Davis, 76, of 457 Baltimore Avenue, Cumberland, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 1997, at the Cumberland Nursing Home.
Born July 29, 1921, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Roy Edgar Smith and the late Lillian Charlotte (Kuhns) Smith. She also was preceded in death by a sister, Catherine Shearer.

Mrs. Davis was the former owner and operator of Miriam's Beauty Salon and a former employee of the National Jet Company. She attended the Cornerstone Baptist Church.

Surviving are two brothers, Roy E. Smith Jr. and wife Doris, Cresaptown, and James H. Smith and wife Phyllis, Fort Ashby, W.Va.; three sisters, Emma Jean Stierstorfer, Clarkston, Mich., Dorothy Mellotte and husband Frank, Short Gap, W.Va., and Charlotte Hodges and husband Tom, Carson, Calif.; five nieces; and ten nephews.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Daren L. Ritchey officiating.

Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.

JERRY E. DAVIS
LONACONING - Jerry Eugene Davis, 56, of 161 Chancellor Drive, Chambersburg, Pa., died Tuesday, July 1, 1997, in Chambersburg.
Born Dec. 17, 1940, in Lonaconing, he was the son of the late Esther I. (Hendra) Davis.

Surviving are his father Nelson Davis, Lonaconing; his wife Susy Davis; two daughters, Sherry Lonsdale and husband Cameron, Warrior Mark, Pa., and Jennifer Davis, State College, Pa.; two sisters, Marion Mitchell, Jacksonville, N.C., and Linda Dunn, Lonaconing; five brothers, Jack Davis, Grafton, Va., Jim Davis, Cleveland, Ohio, Bill Davis, Lonaconing, Robert Davis, Midland, and Dick Davis, Elizabethtown, Ky.

The body was cremated.

GARY L. FULLER
CRESAPTOWN - Gary L. Fuller, 60, of Cresaptown, died Friday, May 23, 1997, at his residence.
Born Nov. 16, 1936, at Corriganville, he was a son of the late Albert C. and Catherine R. (Wineland) Fuller.

Mr. Fuller was a retired teamster and a member of Teamsters and Chauffeurs' Local 453.

Surviving are a daughter, Annette M. Flesher, LaVale; three grandchildren; two stepchildren; five step-grandchildren; two brothers, Raymond C. Fuller and Bobby A. Fuller, both of Corriganville; and a sister, Shirley M. Robertson, Corriganville.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, Pa., on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ken L. Korns officiating.

Pallbearers were Homer and Harry Golden, Bobby Emerick, Robert, Harry, and Robby Robertson, and Ward Murray.

Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.

RONALD V. BRIDGES, SR.
MOUNT SAVAGE - Ronald V. Bridges Sr., 70, of Mount Savage, died Saturday, Sept. 6, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born July 1, 1927, in Mount Savage, he was the son of the late Daniel O. and Anna Frances (Bennett) Bridges. He also was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.

Mr. Bridges was retired from the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company, Cumberland, and was a former president of the Midnite Bowling League for Kelly-Springfield. He was a member of Mount Savage United Methodist Church and was a veteran of World War II serving in both the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps.

Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Myrtle A. Bridges; five daughters, Barbara Taylor and husband Ronald, Bowie, Sharon Blank and husband Carl Sr., Frostburg, Gloria Jean Brick and husband Freeman, Donna Jenkins and husband Cliff, all of Hyndman, Pa., and Brenda Bloss and husband Dave, Mount Savage; one son, Ronald V. Bridges Jr. and wife Cindy, Mount Savage; two sisters, Helena Robinette, Mount Savage, and Audrey Arnold, Grantsville; one brother, Orville Bridges, Frostburg; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, Cresaptown, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Richard C. Broome Jr. officiating.

Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.

Pallbearers will be Ronald Taylor, Carl Blank Sr., Cliff Jenkins, Dave Bloss, Carl Blank Jr., and Eric Jenkins. Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Jenkins, Frank Barker, and Fred Murphy.

Military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.

HAZEL M. DAVIS
CUMBERLAND - Hazel Margaret Davis, 87, of Maryland Avenue, Cumberland, died Friday, April 11, 1997, at the Devlin Manor Nursing Home.
Born June 20, 1909, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late John and Jennie Nixon. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Davis Sr.; one son, Joseph William Davis; several brothers and sisters; and one great-granddaughter, Michelle White.

Mrs. Davis was a homemaker and a member of the Holy Cross Episcopal Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Eva Peterson and husband Richard, Golden Valley, Ariz., and Peggy A. Young and husband Willard, Cumberland; three sons, Frank Davis Jr., Cumberland, Howard A. Davis and wife Shirley, Woodland Hills, Calif., and Jack L. Davis and wife Louise, Cumberland; one sister, Alberta Valentine, Baltimore; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Edward C. Chapman officiating.

Interment will be in the Davis Memorial cemetery.

JOHN M. GROVE
CUMBERLAND - John McKage Grove, 76, a resident of Devlin Manor Nursing Home, formerly of Blackiston Avenue, died Thursday, Aug. 14, 1997, at the nursing home after a long illness.
Born Dec. 18, 1920, in Martinsburg, W.Va., he was the son of the late Boyd Casper and Elsie (Dailey) Grove. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert C. and Claude D. Grove; and two sisters, Ardelle Bartles and Marie Logue.

Mr. Grove was a member of the Second Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II with the 101st Airborne Division, and participated in the Battle of the Bulge.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Rose (Harbell) Grove; two sisters, Frances Cook, Oldtown, and Rosa Lee Harvey, Cumberland; and beloved nieces and nephews, Alena Walker, John Bartles, Donald Cook, Sue Grove, Diane Henry and Daniel Hoyle, who were like children to him.

Mr. Grove donated his body to the Maryland Anatomy Board.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to the Second Baptist Church, 1 Grand Avenue, Cumberland MD 21502.

KENT B. FULLER
CUMBERLAND - Kent Blair Fuller, 63, of Bel Air, Cumberland, died Friday, Dec. 19, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Oct. 22, 1934, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Walter and Blanche (Cooper) Fuller. He also was preceded in death by one brother, Brandon K. Fuller; and one sister, Shirley L. Williams.

Mr. Fuller was the retired Director of the Appalachian Environmental Lab for the University of Maryland, Frostburg. He also was a retired Professor Emeritus of the University of Maryland in 1997. Professor Fuller was a 1952 graduate of Allegany High School. He received his B.S. Degree in Education Administration from Frostburg State University in 1959 and his Master's Degree in Secondary Education from Frostburg State University in 1966.

Mr. Fuller was Presbyterian by faith. He was Vice President of the Western Allegany Kiwanis Club, author of numerous articles on environmental education, and he received many awards for his work on environmental education. Mr. Fuller also was a former teacher with the Allegany County School System.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Ann Fuller, Bel Air; one daughter, Julie D. Fuller, at home; one son, Jason D. Fuller, Philadelphia, Pa.; three brothers, Dale B. Fuller, Cumberland, Donald W. Fuller, Bel Air, and Craig C. Fuller, Hagerstown; and one sister, Diana K. Wolodkin, Radford, Va.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cresaptown, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Lawrence A. Neumark officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.

The family request contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
