FRANCIS O. BURNS
MONTICELLO, Ind. - Francis O. "Red" Burns, 76, of 611 Washington St., Monticello, died Friday, April 4, 1997, at his residence.
He was the father of Mrs. Ronald (Beverly A.) McMurray, of Cumberland, Md. Also surviving are five other children; two brothers; four sisters; 16 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at the Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, 202 S. Illinois St., Monticello, on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. Rosary service will be at 8 p.m.

The funeral will be held at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church on Monday, April 7, 1997, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. James Goodrum, the Rev. Robert Fosselman and the Rev. Richard Puetz officiating.

Burial will be in the Riverview IOOF cemetery, Monticello.

GLENN R. EMERICK
CUMBERLAND - Glenn Richard Emerick, 77, of Bedford Road, Cumberland, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 1997, at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown, Pa.
Born March 22, 1920, in Pittsburgh, Pa., he was the son of the late George Washington Emerick and the late Helen Jane (Stillwagon) Emerick.

Mr. Emerick was a retired electrician from PPG Industries. He was a member of Elliott Memorial United Methodist Church. He was a First Aid Instructor for the American Red Cross. He served as an industrial chaplain for Schwab and Company, was a lay speaking instructor for United Methodist Church Lay Ministers of Cumberland-Hagerstown District, and was a commissioner for Potomac Council of Boy Scouts of America. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II.

Surviving are his wife Agnes Leona (Frantz) Emerick, Cumberland; a son, Glenn M. Emerick and wife, Joyce, Flintstone; a daughter Lisa Linn Diehl and husband David, Everett, Pa.; a sister, Dorothy Klemann, Lakeland, Fla.; and three granddaughters, Brea Nicole Emerick, Cumberland, Kayla Linn Diehl, Everett, and Jennifer Diehl, Tower City, Pa.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Daniel Leister officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

ROBERT C. BURTON SR.
FROSTBURG - Robert Clinton Burton Sr., 72, of 323 E. Main St., Frostburg, died Thursday, March 6, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Jan. 8, 1925, in Portsmouth, Va., he was the son of the late George W. and Ruth (Vannah) Burton.

Mr. Burton was an economics professor at Frostburg State University, where he taught since 1976. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He received both his bachelor's and master's degrees from the Virginia Polytechnical Institute and his Ph.D. from the University of Virginia. His teaching career started at Old Dominion University of Virginia. He then taught at the University of Richmond and the Norfolk Division of William and Mary. He then taught at the Tidewater Community College, where he became Dean of Instruction and Student Services. At Frostburg State University he served as Chairman of the Economics Department for 11 years, and formerly served as Service Director of the Center for Economic Education of Western Maryland.

Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Sarah (Gordner) Burton; two sons, Robert C. Burton Jr. and wife Jean, Phoenix, Ariz., and Richard V. Burton and wife Susan, Portsmouth; one daughter, Marcia Anne Burton, Washington, D.C.; one brother, George T. Burton, Snyder, Texas; three sisters, Barbara Florie, Jacksonville, N.C., Stella B. Williamson, Chesapeake, Va., and Elizabeth A. Dail, Portsmouth; two grandchildren, Rebecca Elaine Burton and Emily Brook Burton, both of Phoenix; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Friday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at the Riverdale United Methodist Church, New Bern, N.C., on Sunday, March 9, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Neil Slater officiating. Arrangements will be under the direction of the Cotton Funeral Home, New Bern.

Interment will be in the Conner Family cemetery, New Bern.

A memorial service will be held at Frostburg State University, Cook Chapel, on Tuesday, March 11, at 10 a.m.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Riverdale United Methodist Church, New Bern, N.C., or the Holy Cross Episcopal Church, Cumberland.

DOROTHY M. BUXENSTEIN
CUMBERLAND - Dorothy M. Buxenstein, 80, of Cumberland, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 1997, at Memorial Hospital.
Born April 14, 1917, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Klima) Hartman. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Charles T. Buxenstein, 1971; one sister, Albina Amanda Bradley; one daughter, Dorothy M. Dury; one niece, Lillian Anders; and a son-in-law, Loring A. Smith Jr.

Mrs. Buxenstein was a homemaker. She was of the Protestant faith.

Surviving are three sons, August R. Robinson and wife Wilma, Augusta, W.Va., Charles E. Robinson, Easton, and Ralph N. Buxenstein and wife Linda, Rawlings; two daughters, Irene H. Frazier and husband Leroy, Falling Waters, W.Va., and Constance J.C. Smith, Hopewell, Va.; numerous grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one step-granddaughter; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Friends wil be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Benny Brakeall officiating.

Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.

LUCINDO J. "LOU" FABBRI, SR.
FROSTBURG - Lucindo J. "Lou" Fabbri, Sr., 65, of Frostburg, died Thursday, May 29, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Feb. 6, 1932, in Frostburg, he was the son of Rosie (Rogano) Fabbri and the late Olivio Fabbri.

Mr. Fabbri was retired from the Kelly Springfield Tire Company. He was employed in the maintenance department at St. John Neumann School. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a 1951 graduate of LaSalle High School.

He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Frostburg, the Cumberland Moose No. 271, the board of directors at Kelco Credit Union, United Rubber Workers Local 26, where he had served as an organization officer, the American Legion Farrady Post No. 24, Kelly Men's Bowling League for 40 years, Bouquet Mixed Bowling League, where he had served as president, and he was an avid golfer and fisherman.

In addition to his mother, surviving are his wife, Patricia A. (Hudson) Fabbri; one son, Lou J. Fabbri Jr., New York, N.Y.; one daughter, Vicki A. Warnick and husband Roger, Kent Island; one sister, Benilda Robertson and husband Dana, Eckhart Mines; two grandchildren, Jason L. Warnick and Cindy L. Warnick.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Christian wake service will be conducted Sunday at 8:45 p.m. with Father Vance Pastorius, O.F.M., Cap., officiating.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Frostburg, on Monday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Paul Burns officiating.

Interment will be in St. Mary's cemetery. The Farrady Post No. 24 American Legion will provide military honors at the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jason Warnick, Donald Wilhelm, Thomas Hudson, James Hudson, Harold Hudson, and Jack Hudson.

The family requests contributions be made to St. Michael's Catholic Church or "Save the Angels" campaign at St. John Neumann School.

OWEN D. BOWSER
GRANTSVILLE - Owen Dale Bowser, 63, of 2408 Legeer Road, Grantsville, died Thursday, Aug. 21, 1997, at his residence.
Born April 9, 1934, in Grantsville, he was a son of the late George and Agnes (Yaste) Bowser.

Mr. Bowser had been employed as a car repairman for Harbison-Walker Refractories prior to his retirement and was a member of Woodmen of the World Camp 41.

Surviving are his wife, Beatrice Elizabeth (Snyder) Bowser; a son, Thomas D. Bowser, Grantsville; a daughter, Julie K. Hardesty, Grantsville; a brother, Arthur Bowser, Clinton; four sisters, Gladys Meyers, Grantsville, Melva Barley, Silver Spring, Bernadine Watkins, Canton, Mich., and Fern Bowser, Washington, D.C.; and three grandchildren, Becky, Kimmy and J.D.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 1 p.m. with Keith Welch officiating.

Interment will be in Grantsville cemetery.

GERALDINE L. BOWMAN
CUMBERLAND - Geraldine L. Long Bowman, 81, of Fayette Street, Cumberland, died Monday, July 7, 1997, in Cuppett Weeks Nursing Home, Oakland.
Born April 14, 1916, in Ridgeley, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Stanley J. and Lula (Combs) Lease. She also was preceded in death by two husbands O. Carl Long, in 1961, and Carl B. Bowman, in 1970; one sister, Fannie B. Miller; and three brothers, Stanley D., Austin G. and Sam W. Lease.

Mrs. Bowman was a member of the Cresaptown United Methodist Church, Henry Hart Post 13, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion Post 15, Ladies Auxiliary, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Cumberland Eagles 245. She was retired in 1981 from the Springfield State Hospital, Sykesville.

Surviving are one daughter, Carla S. Cunningham, North Hutchison Island, Fla. and Deep Creek Lake; one sister, Grace Stoner, Hagerstown; one sister-in-law, Anna Lease, Russelville, Ohio; one brother, Carl L. Young and wife Marie, Byran, Texas; one brother-in-law, Francis Miller, Leesburg, Va., and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Harold R. McClay Jr. officiating.

Interment will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.

Contributions may be made in Mrs. Bowman's memory to the Cresaptown United Methodist Church, Route 220 S., Cresaptown, MD 21502 or to the Garrett County Hospice Unit, 2008 Maryland Highway, Oakland, MD 21550.

Pallbearers will be Lenny Bosse, Francis Cosgrove, Harold Hite, Jimmie Light, Robert Rephan and Ronald L. Rice.
