JOHN S. KNEPP
HAGERSTOWN - John Shannon Knepp, 75, of 18320 Rench Road, Hagerstown, died on Thursday, Oct. 16, 1997, at the Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.
Born Jan. 30, 1922, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late George H. and Phoebe (Coleman) Knepp. He also was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Johnson and Marguerite Lashley.
Mr. Knepp was employed with the Maryland State Highway Administration for 39 years, retiring in 1983. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific.
He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church; a member of the American Legion Dixon Troxell Post No. 211, Funkstown; the VFW Post No. 6025, Mount Savage; BPOE Lodge No. 470, Frostburg, the Masonic Kemp Lodge 154, Mount Savage, the Scottish Rite and Ali Ghan of Cumberland; Hagerstown Shrine; Mercersburg Sportsmens Club; Eagles Inc., Waynesboro, Pa.; and Redmen of Conococheage Tribe 84.
Surviving are his wife, Helen B. Knepp; one son, John B. Knepp, San Jose, Calif.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.
The family will also receive friends at the Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Avenue, Frostburg, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A Masonic service will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 7 p.m.
Services will be held at the Durst Funeral Home on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Anne O. Weatherholt officiating.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Cumberland.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Anne O. Weatherholt officiating.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens where military honors will be accorded by Old Rail Post No. 6025 VFW.
Pallbearers will be Robert R. Bosley, Paul W. Dorsey, William J. Fazenbaker, Charles J. Hout, Richard L. Malcolm, and James A. Morgan. Honorary pallbearers include Ace H. Humbertson, and the active and veteran members of The Arab Patrol of Ali Ghan Temple, Cumberland.

HENRY H. KNIERIEM
FROSTBURG - Henry Hoffman Knieriem, 87, of the Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville, formerly of 84 Walnut St., Frostburg, died Thursday, May 15, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born July 1, 1909, in Cresaptown, he was the son of the late Charles and Edna E. (Llewellyn) Knieriem. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian (Zais) Knieriem, on June 28, 1991; and two brothers, Irvin Knieriem and William Knieriem.
Mr. Knieriem retired from the Kelly Springfield Tire Co. in 1971 after 38 years of service building truck tires. He was a member of the Frostburg United Methodist Church. Mr. Knieriem was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Surviving are two sons, Paul Knieriem and wife Janet, Grahamtown, and Ralph Knieriem and wife Doris, Midlothian; one sister, Margaret Bloom and husband Albert, Corriganville; one brother, John Knieriem, Frostburg; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. George Aist, the Rev. Dr. Richard Metrick, and the Rev. William G. Boyer officiating.
Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.
CHARLES W. KNIGHT
CUMBERLAND - Charles Wesley Knight, 80, of 421 Henderson Avenue, Cumberland, died Thursday, July 31, 1997, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born September 30, 1916, in Beans Cove, Pa., he was the son of the late Walter and Anna Virginia (Hendrickson) Knight.
Mr. Knight was a retired pressman at the Commerical Press Company. He was a member of the Cumberland Eagles No. 245.
Surviving are his wife, Maxine (Biller) Knight, Cumberland; three sons, John Knight, Cumberland, Charles Allen Knight, Cockeysville, and Timothy Knight, Cumberland; two daughters, Ann Yuhascik and husband Dan, Melbourne, Fla., and Charlene Sue George and husband Joseph, Bel Air, Cumberland; one sister, Bertha Scarlett, Wiley Ford, W.Va.; and five grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Wayne R. Turner officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
VIRGINIA L. KNIGHT
HAGERSTOWN - Virginia L. Knight, 56, of 248 Belview Ave., Hagerstown, died Sunday, July 13, 1997, at her residence.
Born Feb. 7, 1941, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of Ida M. (Clingerman) Norris, Little Orleans, and the late Roy R. Norris. She also was preceded in death by one sister, Norma Jean Norris; one brother, Frederick Norris; and one grandson, Ronald E. Tibbens.
Ms. Knight was a retired employee of the R.C.I. She was a dietary officer for 12 years following her work at the Washington County Hospital. She attended the Price Wesleyan Church of Little Orleans. She was a member of the Auxiliaries of the American Legion Post 211, Funkstown, the FOE Aerie 694 and the Red Feather Council 59, Williamsport.
Surviving are her mother; two daughters, Vicki L. Fisher and Susan L. Tibbens, both of Hagerstown; one sister, Linda D. Fletcher, Little Orleans; three brothers, Robert D. Norris, Little Orleans, Gary W. Norris, Hastings, N.Y., and Marshall Norris, Hagerstown; and two grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown, on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Darryl G. McClain.
Interment will be in the Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.

SHIRLEY L. KNISLEY
CUMBERLAND - Shirley L. Knisley, 57, of Cumberland, died Tuesday, June 17, 1997, at her residence.
Born Jan. 30, 1940, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late George and Lula Dora Knisley.
Miss Knisley was a homemaker. She attended the First Assembly of God Church, Cumberland.
Surviving are three brothers, Harold Corrigan and wife Geraldine, Leonard F. Glenn Sr. and wife Frances Ann, all of Cumberland, and George B. Knisley, Baltimore; one sister, Bethel Lee "Betty" Scarlett, Lansdowne; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ervin W. Mason officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
DONALD W. KNOTT SR.
WESTERNPORT - Donald William Knott Sr., 74, of 409 Maryland Ave., Westernport, died Monday, Oct. 27, 1997, at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser, W.Va.
Born Sept. 7, 1923, in Beryl, W.Va., he was the son of the late William "Cider" and Margaret (Mitter) Knott. He also was preceded in death by one sister, Billie McCutcheon; two brothers, Jarold Wilson and Paul Knott.
Mr. Knott retired from Westvaco Corporation in 1983, with 43 years of service, having worked in the maintenance department. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II having served in Italy, France and North Africa. He received the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster.
He was a member of Piedmont Presbyterian Church and the church choir, a member of Victory Post No. 155 American Legion, Westernport, Queens Point Post No. 6775 VFW, McCoole, the Disabled American Veterans, and the United Papermakers Local No. 676.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Norma Jean (Wilson) Knott; one son, Donald Knott Jr. and wife Paula, Severn; three daughters, Sandra Cote, South Windsor, Conn., Jeannie Pritts and husband Fred, Westernport, and Melva Shimer and husband Bill, Westernport; four grandsons, Geoff Ord, Fred Pritts II, James Pritts, and Matthew Shimer; two sisters, Delores Fairall, Keyser, W.Va., and Eileen Moran, Newark, Del.
Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Piedmont Presbyterian Church on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William Shimer officiating.
Interment will be in Philos cemetery, Westernport.
Military honors will be accorded at graveside by various military organizations.
Queens Point VFW will hold a memorial service at the funeral home on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Piedmont Presbyterian Church, Potomac Fire Company, or Tri-Towns Rescue Squad.
