ROZELLA M. PIPER
OLDTOWN - Rozella Marie Piper, 72, of Oldtown, died Wednesday, July 30, 1997, at the Cumberland Nursing Home.
Born July 21, 1925, in Wellersburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Samuel I. and Ella Catherine (Conner) Petenbrink. She also was preceded in death by her first husband William C. Nelson, in 1948; her second husband Charley Robert Piper, in 1988; and one sister, Ruth Raley.
Mrs. Piper was a homemaker. She was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ, Mechanic Street, Cumberland.
Surviving are three sons, William J. Nelson and wife Alma, Cumberland, Robert F. Piper and wife Stephanie and Kevin W. Piper, all of Oldtown; three daughters, Barbara Shryock and husband Harry, Oldtown, Carol Booth and husband John, Eckhart, and Evelyn Loar and husband John, Cumberland; five sisters, Vivian Flanagan, Mary E. Miller, Betty Harman, Rodella Swauger and Loretta Hanekamp, all of Cumberland; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Rosemary Baumgardner officiating.
Interment will be in the Oldtown cemetery.
MILBURN MICHAEL, SR.
LAVALE - Milburn A. Michael, Sr., 83, of North First Street, died Friday, Sept. 12, 1997, in Memorial Hospital.
He was born April 18, 1914, in Westernport, and was the son of the late Harry E. and Nettie Blanche (Dayton) Michael.
Mr. Michael was retired from Kelly Springfield Tire Company, and he was a member of Cavalier Orchestra. Mr. Michael was a U.S. Navy veteran having served on the USS Chicago as a radar man, and participated in the Initial Occupation of Japan.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel G. (Kessell) Michael; sons M. Wayne Michael, Queenstown, and Milburn A. Michael, Jr., Eldersburg; a daughter, Gloria Diane Pappas, Glen Burnie; a brother, Joseph D. Michael, Cumberland; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Friends will be received in the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Hwy., LaVale, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Mary Jellison officiating.
Interment will follow in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
GARY R. MICHAELS
BARTON - Gary R. " Pickle" Michaels, 37, of 19023 North Eutaw St., Barton, died Monday, Sept. 15, 1997, at Barton.
He was born on July 17, 1960, at Cumberland to Josephine (Wilson) Michaels, Barton, and the late Russell Michaels, Sr., who died in 1982.
Mr. Michaels formerly worked as a logger for Custer Logging.
Surviving in addition to his mother are two brothers, Russell E. Michaels, Jr., Virginia Beach, Va., and Roger D. Michaels, Falling Waters, W.Va.; two sisters, Virginia "Peachie" Mangold, Frostburg, and Crystal Leap and husband, Shawn, Barton; a grandmother, Hazel Wilson, Westernport; two nephews, David Mangold and Brandon Carr; one niece, Megan Michaels; and many, many friends.
Friends will be received at Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at Boal Memorial Chapel on Thursday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Harold Malone officiating.
Interment will be in Laurel Hill cemetery, Moscow Mills.
ELSIE H. REEVES
WESTERNPORT - Elsie H. Reeves, 78, of 24515 Ravenscroft Road, Westernport, died Monday, August 11, 1997, at the Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser.
Born July 8, 1919, in Luke, she was the daughter of the late John and Romana (Kiss) Krumpach. She also was preceded in death by one sister, Rose Hall; and two brothers, John Krumpach and Anthony Krumpach.
She was a special person who will be sadly missed.
Mrs. Reeves was a homemaker and a member of the St. Peter's Catholic Church, Westernport.
Surviving are her husband Harold Reeves; one daughter, Kitty Reeves, Baltimore; one brother, Joseph Krumpach, Lonaconing; two sisters, Frances Morse, New York City, and Margaret Brandlen, Luke; and a special friend, whom she considered a daughter, Belinda Blubaugh, Lonaconing.
Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James Hannon and the Rev. Lester Clifford officiating.
Interment will be in the Philos cemetery.
WILBERT P. MICHAELS SR.
MOUNT SAVAGE - Wilbert P. Michaels Sr., 88, of Mount Savage, died Saturday, May 10, 1997, at his residence.
Born Dec. 31, 1908, in Barrelville, he was the son of the late Peter Paul and Minnie Margaret (Martens) Michaels. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Edna C. Michaels.
Mr. Michaels was retired from the Celanese Corp. of Cumberland. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Mount Savage; Barrelville Outdoor Club; Kennells Mill Outdoor Club; and the Cumberland Eagles.
Surviving are three daughters, Loie F. Weimer and husband Harold, Mount Savage, Margaret G. "Midge" Troutman and husband Fay, Mount Savage, and Bertie E. Cooney and husband Roger, Santa Rosa, Calif.; four sons, Wilbert P. "Tim" Michaels Jr. and wife Mary, Martinsburg, W.Va., James A. "Tony" Michaels and wife Viola, Mount Savage, Richard S. Michaels and wife Joyce, Short Gap, W.Va., and Edward K. Michaels and wife Sue, Los Gatos, Calif.; two sisters, Bertha Steigerwald, Cumberland, and Viola Blank, Mount Savage; 21 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 7:15 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Mount Savage, on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. with Father Milton A. Hipsley as celebrant.
Pallbearers will be Timothy Michaels, Ronald Michaels, Greg Michaels, Craig Michaels, Robert Troutman, Michael Troutman, Mark Troutman, and Ed Padfield. Honorary pallbearers will be James Cooney, Daniel Michaels, and David Michaels.
Interment will be in the St. Patrick's cemetery, Mount Savage.
JUANITA S. REEVES
WESTERNPORT - Juanita S. Reeves, 90, of 123 Main St., Westernport, died Friday, Oct. 10, 1997 at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser, W.Va.
She was born Sept. 22, 1907 at Cedar Rock Township, Franklin County, N.C. to the late John B. Sturdivant and the late Lizzie G. (Leonard) Sturdivant.
She also was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Raymond Reeves, in 1987; a son, Dr. Raymond W. Reeves in 1992; three sisters; and one brother.
Mrs. Reeves was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Piedmont, W.Va., where she was an active member and past president of the Women's Society of Christian Service.
Surviving are one son, Dr. John Reeves of Lakeside Park, Ky.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Piedmont on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Joseph Jarrett officiating.
Interment will be in Philos cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church.
SAMUEL E. MITCHELL
FLINTSTONE - Samuel Ernest Mitchell, 75, of Flintstone, died Thursday, May 1, 1997, at his residence.
Born August 1, 1921, in Pendelton County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Samuel Ernest Kesner and Nettie (Mitchell) See. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Kermit Mitchell and Merlin Kesner.
Mr. Mitchell was retired from the Fisher Body Division of General Motors of Baltimore. He was a lifetime member of the Flintstone Volunteer Fire Department; a member of the Landmark No. 127 AF and AM of Baltimore; Scottish Rite Bodies of Cumberland; and McKinley No. 12 Order of the Eastern Star. He was an avid camper, fisherman, and hunter.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Porter Mitchell; four daughters, Polly Mitchell Light, Cumberland, Donna Self, Rebecca Schmidt, both of Flintstone, Patricia DeVault, Pinto; two sons, Steven Mitchell, Glen Burnie, Andrew "Mitch" Mitchell, Frostburg; six sisters, Lettie Hoch, Ruth Donofrio, Nola Mongold, Norma Sites, Ina Jane Ault, and Ruth Kimmel; four brothers, Franklin See, Edward See, Andrew See, and Abraham See; fifteen grandchildren, Bernard and Richard Baker, James, Thomas, Joseph, Mollie, John, Victoria, and Matthew Light; Anthony and Timothy Mitchell, Sarah and Nicole Self, Candice and Joshua Valentine, Bryan Schmidt Jr.; five great-grandchildren, Tandy and Josie Baker, Ashley and Nicole Baker, and James Donovan Light. Also surviving are many wonderful friends and neighbors.

The McKinley No. 12 Order of the Eastern Star will conduct a memorial service Friday at 7 p.m.. The International Order of Rainbow Girls will conduct a memorial service at 7:20 p.m., and the Ohr Lodge will conduct a memorial service at 7:45 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Fred Iser officiating.
Interment will be in Odd Fellows cemetery, Flintstone.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Flintstone Volunteer Fire Department or the International Order of Rainbow Girls No. 6, Cumberland.
