FERN E. NEDER
MOUNT SAVAGE - Fern E. Neder, 80, of 12803 New Row Road, NW, Mount Savage, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 1, 1997, at the Sacred Heart Hospital Hospice, Cumberland.
Born May 3, 1917, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Edith (Deal) Griffith. Her parents formerly owned the Mountain Top Inn on Big Savage Mountain for a number of years. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Carl J. Neder, in 1992.

Mrs. Neder was retired from the Allegany County Board of Education Food Service, having worked at Mount Savage High School. She was a 1935 graduate of Beall High School. She was a faithful member of St. George's Episcopal Church, Mount Savage, and the Women of St. George's, of which she served as president for 20 years; was a member of Rebecca Arnold Chapter 57, Order of the Eastern Star; and was the last charter member of Old Rail Post 6025, Ladies Auxiliary.

She was totally devoted to her family and to decorating her home for each holiday for the enjoyment of others. She enjoyed life to its fullest and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Surviving are two sons, Joseph F. Neder and wife Alice, Mount Savage, and Carl Richard Neder and wife Pamela, Westernport; three daughters, Patricia A. Whetstone, Bowling Green, Mary Frances Brannon and husband Joseph, Windber, Pa., and Jane Otto and husband Robert, Stafford, Va.; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m., and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

The Eastern Star will hold a memorial service on Monday at 7:30 p.m., and the VFW Auxiliary will hold a memorial service on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

A Requiem Eucharist will be celebrated at St. George's Episcopal Church on Wednesday, June 4, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Alice Babin as celebrant.

Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

The family requests memorials be directed to St. George's Episcopal Church or the Sacred Heart Hospital Hospice.

BONNIE "BABE" SMITH
CUMBERLAND - Bonnie "Babe" Smith, of Cumberland, died Sunday, Nov. 9, 1997, at her residence.
Born in Smithsburg, she was the daughter of the late Keiffer U. and Hazel A. (Bringham) Smith. She was preceded in death by one sister, Minnie Tyler; and one brother, Ike Smith.

Ms. Smith was a retired waitress from the Huntington Hotel, Pasadena, Calif. She was a Catholic by faith. She devoted the last years of her life taking care of her mother and brother.

Surviving are three sons, David A. Matthews, Luis Jeremiah Cruz, both of Forest Hills, N.Y., and Gregory Grohs and wife Colleen, Arcadia, Calif.; two grandchildren, Sean Thomas Grohs and Natalie N. Grohs.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Avenue on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. A Christian Wake will be conducted Monday at 8 p.m. She will be forever missed.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Milton A. Hipsley as celebrant.

Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Cumberland.

JUNE E. NEDER
MOUNT SAVAGE - June E. Neder, 73, of Mount Savage, died Wednesday, April 30, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born June 2, 1923, in Hoffman, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Lillie (Walsh) Yeider. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur "Manzy" Neder, on June 19, 1996; and two sisters, Edith Brode and Mable Winfield.

Mrs. Neder was a member of St. George's Episcopal Church, where she was a member of the Altar Guild. She was a member of Women of St. George's, where she previously served on the vestry, taught Sunday school, and was senior warden. She served on the Hall of Honor Committee for years, and was active in Fire Co. fund raisers. In 1990, her husband and she received the Hall of Honor Award for all the outstanding volunteer work they had done for Mount Savage.

Mrs. Neder was a Sacred Heart Hospital Hospice volunteer and recently received an award for 7000 volunteer hours. She was a member of the Beall High School Alumni Committee, and was the citizens representative for Land Reclamation Committee.

Surviving are one son, Eric Neder and wife Donna, Erie, Pa.; three grandchildren, Emily, Lauren and Andrew; a special cousin, Mildred Arnold, Akron, Ohio; and a number of nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

The Requiem Eucharist will be celebrated at St. George's Episcopal Church on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Alice D. Babin as celebrant.

Interment will be in St. George's Episcopal cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Frank Jenkins, Jay Jenkins, Jim Winfield, Paul Brode, John Shertzer, and Ed Monahan.

Contributions may be made to St. George's Episcopal Church or Hospice Unit, Sacred Heart Hospital.

RANDOLPH V. NEE
CUMBERLAND - Randolph Vernon Nee, 72, of Valley Road, Cumberland, died Thursday, Oct. 23, 1997, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Cumberland, on Monday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. James L. McMahan officiating. There will be visitation at the church one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap.

RANDOLPH V. NEE
CUMBERLAND - Randolph Vernon Nee, 72, of Valley Road, Cumberland, died Thursday, Oct. 23, 1997, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born May 2, 1925, in Centerville, Pa., he was the son of the late John Carl and Maude Elizabeth (Haines) Nee.

Mr. Nee was retired from the CSX Railroad, Cumberland. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Cumberland.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Maxine (Reuschel) Nee; three daughters, Judith Ann Waters and husband Richard, Seattle, Wash., Vickie Lynn Habersack and husband James, Cresaptown, and Tracy Jean Preston and husband John, Ellerslie; one son, Bradley Vernon Nee and wife Michele, Cumberland; three sisters, Elva McConnell, Altoona, Pa., Dorothy Young, Groudy, N.C., and Zelma Redinger, Bedford, Pa.; two brothers, Melvin Nee, Centerville, Pa., and Charles Nee, Atlanta, Ga.; two granddaughters, Jenna Chambers and Jill Chambers; and three grandsons, Scott Dickerson, Sean Dickerson, and Matthew Habersack.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

ALICE NEGLEY
ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Alice (Kaefer) Negley, 76, of Alexandria, formerly of Frostburg, died Saturday, July 12, 1997, in an accidental fall at her home.
Born Nov. 17, 1920, in National, Md., she was the eldest child of the late Charles A. Kaefer and Viola M. Shives. She also was preceded in death by one sister, Charlotte Bolyard.

Mrs. Negley relocated to Washington, DC, in 1953, and married Robert Negley, formerly of Woodland, Md., in 1954. They moved to Alexandria in 1960 and remained married until Mr. Negley's death in 1993.

Surviving are her son, Robert Negley, Jr., Alexandria; her brother, Charles Kaefer, Grantsville, Md.; her half-brother, John Stark, Girard, Ohio; and her four sisters, Eva Crump, Hubbard, Ohio, Margaret Spataro and Annagale Miller, both of National, Md., and Diana Testa, Lowellville, Ohio.

In accordance with her wishes, Mrs. Negley's remains were cremated and she will be inurned along with her husband in a private ceremony.
