Blanche Cosey

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Blanche Cosey, 91, of ManorCare Health Services, and formerly of 2938 Molly Pitcher Highway, died Thursday, Oct. 9, 1997, at ManorCare Health Services.

Born Oct. 20, 1905, in Hamilton Township, Pa., she was the daughter of the late McHenry and Ida Poole Shew.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Franklin Cosey, in 1961.

She was the owner and operator of Cosey's Tax Service, Chambersburg, from 1956 until retiring in 1990. She was formerly employed at Fairchild Aircraft, Hagerstown, during World War II, making airplane wings. She was employed by the former Interwoven Co., Chambersburg, in 1930s; and was a corsetiere with the former Foundation Garment Co., Chambersburg, during the 1930s. She was a field representative for Confidential Reports for nine years during the 1950s; she and her husband farmed for 18 years; and they also operated the former Cosey's Custard and Ice Cream, near Chambersburg, for six years.

She was appointed local Justice of the Peace, by Gov. George Leader in 1956, becoming the first female Justice of the Peace in Franklin County, Pa., and the fifth in the state. She served for 18 months.

She served as state inheritance tax appraiser during the 1960s. She became a notary public in 1974.

She was a life member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Chambersburg.

She served in many capacities with Franklin County American Red Cross and as president and trustee of the Marion Chapter. She also served with the Franklin County Heritage Association, Kittochtinny Historical Society and Franklin County Democratic Women's Club.

She was a member of Chambersburg Business and Professional Women's Business Club; Ladies Auxiliary of the Marion Volunteer Fire Department, Marion, Pa.; Ladies Auxiliary of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 842, Chambersburg; Ladies Auxiliary of Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Chambersburg; AARP Chapter 1507, Chambersburg; and National Association of Notary Publics.

She is survived by two daughters, Mabel I. Perry of Chambersburg, and Edna M. Wauls of Fayetteville, Pa.; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by one son, Robert F. Cosey; one sister; and four brothers.

Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Stephen W. Hoffman will officiate. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg.

Visitation will be Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from noon to 1 p.m. at funeral home.

Laura Perry

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Laura "Goldie" Perry, 92, of Franklin County Nursing Home, and formerly of Perry Road, Fayetteville, Pa., died Thursday, Oct. 9, 1997, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born May 3, 1905, in Mount Union, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Thomas W. and Mary J. "Mollie" J. Stoner Sprow.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest A. Perry, in 1993.

She was a housekeeper for 40 years for the late Rev. and Mrs. George M. Landis, and also for Greenwood Hills Conference Center, Fayetteville.

She was a former member of Mount Union United Methodist Church, Fayetteville.

She is survived by one granddaughter, Michelle L. Sollenberg of Fayetteville; four grandsons, Dennis E. Perry of Marion, Pa., Monte R. Perry of Upper Strasburg, Pa., Drew A. Perry and Dwight A. Sollenberg, both of Fayetteville; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by in death by one son, Earnest E. Perry; five sisters and one brother.

Services will be Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Terry L. Wible will officiate. Burial will be in Mont Alto Cemetery, Mont Alto, Pa.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Clifford R. Bosley Sr.

BASYE, Va. - Clifford Raymon Bosley Sr., 56, of 92 Connie Road, died Thursday, Oct. 9, 1997, at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital, Woodstock, Va.

Born July 2, 1941, in Richmond, Va., he was the son of the late Frederick and Grace Eustace Bosley.

He was employed by Orion Network in Mount Jackson, Va.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served for 20 years.

He was of the Protestant faith.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra L. Bosley; three daughters, Kim O'Kane of Hagerstown, Cheri L. Miller of Frederick, Md., and Melissa Bosley of Basye; two sons, Clifford R. Bosley Jr. and Michael Bosley, both of Hagerstown; four sisters, Billy Jo Phillippi of Spotsylvania, Va., Mary Moore and Candace Guadalupe, both of Virginia Beach, Va., and Elaine Palos of Chesapeake, Va.; three brothers, Darryl Black and Albert Hardison, both of Moyock, N.C., and Jeffery Black of Saxe, Va.; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Paul Bosley Jr.

Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Gerald D. Carbaugh will officiate. Burial will be in Ebernezer Church Cemetery, Romney, W.Va., with the Rev. Don Kesner officiating. Military honors will be conducted at the graveside.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Joy E. Cook

Joy Evangela Cook, infant, of 620 W. Church St., Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Oct. 8, 1997, she was the daughter of Sean Ali Cook and Annette Marie Nokes.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by one sister, Kayla Doleman, at home; three brothers, Bryan Thomas, at home, Sean Griggs and Davon Griggs, both of Washington, D.C.; maternal grandfather, Richard E. Nokes of Hagerstown; paternal grandfather, Alvin Cook Sr. of Washington, D.C.; maternal great-grandparents, Howard and Margaret Lushbaugh of Hagerstown; and paternal great-grandmother, Dorothy Jackson of Washington, D.C.

Graveside services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Doug Courter will officiate.

There will be no viewing.

Arrangements are by Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.

Winton P. Bohrer

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Winton P. Bohrer, 64, of Martinsburg, died Friday, October 10, 1997, at his home.

Born June 12, 1933, in Morgan County, W.Va., he was the son of Emma Bohrer of Martinsburg and the late Ira Bohrer.

He was retired. He was formerly employed as a truck driver with PIE and later employed by Berkeley County Schools.

He was a member of Martinsburg Lodge 120, Loyal Order of Moose and NRA.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 47 years, Helen Virginia Markley Bohrer; one daughter, Donna Bohrer Kline of Martinsburg, two sons, Walter M. Bohrer of Martinsburg and Kenneth W. Bohrer of Sharpsburg Pike; six sisters, Naomi Fisher of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Glenna Laing, Mary Ann Byers, Phyllis Michaels, and Ruby Miller, all of Martinsburg, and Helen Tobin of Bunker Hill, W.Va.; five brothers, Edgar Bohrer of Bunker Hill, Stanley Bohrer, Roger Bohrer and David Bohrer, all of Martinsburg, and Gary Bohrer of Gerrardstown, W.Va.; eight grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Opal Kelly; and one brother, Ernest Bohrer.

Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg, W.Va. The Rev. Ray Roberson will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends Sunday form 7 to 9 p.m at the funeral home.

Jennifer D. Wildberger

ESSEX, Md. - Jennifer DeLynn Wildberger, 11, of North Marilyn Avenue, died Thursday, Oct. 9, 1997, at her home.

Born Oct. 1, 1986, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of John D. Wildberger of Baltimore and Sandra J. Bryson Wildberger of Essex.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by one sister, Chelsea Wildberger; one brother, Dustin Malott; and maternal grandparents, Stanley and Vonnie Bryson Sr. of Marlowe, W.Va.

She was preceded in death by one brother, D. "JD" Wildberger.

Services will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at Duda-Ruck Funeral Home of Dundalk Inc., 7922 Wise Ave., Baltimore. Linda Poole will officiate.

Memorial donations may be made to National MPS Society Inc., 17 Kraemer St., Hicksville, N.Y. 11801.

Frances V. White

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Frances Viola White, 97, of 13903 Harbaugh Church Road, and formerly of Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 1997, at her home.

Born Dec. 18, 1899, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late John E. White Sr. and Emma V. Leonard White.

She was a graduate of Columbia Business College.

She was employed by Western Maryland Railway for more than 40 years.

She was a life member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

She is survived by one great-niece, Betsy V. Hallman of Olney, Md.; and cousins.

She was preceded in death by five sisters, Bessie V. White, Mary E. White, Hattie A. White, Margaret R. White and Pauline V. White; and two brothers, John E. White Jr. and Cleveland W. White.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Edward H. Heim will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Sandra F. Kline

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Sandra Fay Kline, 40, of 13568 Grant Shook Road, who died Thursday, Oct. 9, 1997, was a 1975 graduate of Smithsburg High School.

George R. Norris

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Emmanual G. Martin, a.k.a. George R. Norris, 44, of Martinsburg and Washington, D.C., died Sunday, Oct. 5, 1997, at City Hospital, Martinsburg.

Born July 2, 1953, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late George and Barbara Champion Norris.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

He attended Dudley Baptist Church.

He was a founding member of AIDS Task Force, Martinsburg and ANTS; and other AIDS organizations and self-help groups.

He is survived by three children and one sister.

Services and burial were private.

Arrangements were made by Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg.

Joseph C. Grossnickle

SMITHSBURG - Joseph Clarence Grossnickle, 86, of 13721 Frank's Run Road, died Friday, Oct. 10, 1997, at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown.

Born March 7, 1911, in Beaver Creek, he was the son of the late Howard Stanley and Maggie Druscilla Eccard Grossnickle.

He retired from Farmers and Merchants Bank in Smithsburg, where he had been branch manager. He was employed with the bank for 20 years.

He was a member of Fahrney Keedy Fellowship Church of the Brethren in Mapleville.

He also was a member of Smithsburg Historical Society.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Barrick Grossnickle, whom he married Jan. 20, 1943; one sister, Helen Moser of Boonsboro; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Edna B. Startzman; and one brother, Wilbur L. Grossnickle.

Services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Robert E. Dailey and Son Funeral Home, 615 E. Main St., Thurmont, Md. The Rev. Newton Poling will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Tabor Cemetery in Rocky Ridge, Md.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. For the convenience of friends the funeral home will be open Tuesday from 3 to 8 p.m.
