Kristler, Amelia C.

Amelia C. Kristler, 96, of Cambridge, passed away early Monday morning, December 2 at the Mallard Bay Care Center. She was the wife of the late George M. Kristler.

She was born at Reids Grove on November 25, 1906, the daughter of the late James and Blanche Bradich Stokes. In 1922 she was married to Sidney W. Chase . For most of her life she resided in the Vienna and Cambridge areas and in 1964 was married to Mr. Kristler, who passed away in the mid 1970’s. Mrs. Kristler was a member of the First Baptist Church.

She is survived by one son, Roger W. Chase of Cambridge, three grandsons, Robert S. Hill, Jr., R. David Chase, and Sidney R. Chase, one great granddaughter, Heather Hill Wilson, one great great granddaughter Briana Nicole Wilson, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter Hilda C. Hill and a brother, Glennie Stokes.

A funeral service will be conducted at the Thomas Funeral Home on Thursday morning at 11 o’clock by Rev. Randall T. Blackmon. Burial will follow in East New Market cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home during the hour before the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, 501 Glenburn Ave., Cambridge, MD 21613.

Jarrell, Jr., William E.

William E. Jarrell, Jr., 84, of Cambridge, passed away at Dorchester General Hospital early Sunday morning, November 3, 2002. He was the husband of the former Naomi Duncan.

He was born in Ridgely on February 26, 1918, the son of the late William Edward and Bertha Jackson Jarrell. He was raised and attended public schools in Ridgely and later graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in agriculture. As a young man he joined the Maryland National Guard and in July of 1942 went on active duty with the U.S. Army. He completed O.C.S. and became an infantry officer. After serving in France and Germany his tour of active duty ended in March of 1946.

For 29 years he was employed by Campbell Soups. While with Campbell he resided in Salisbury, MD, Lansdale PA and Chicago. After retiring from Campbell he managed C.A.G. Farms in Kent County for eight years, and since full retirement he has lived in Cambridge for the past 17 years. Mr. Jarrell was a member of Zion United Methodist Church and Dorchester Post 91, American Legion, and a former member of Cambridge Elks Lodge.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, one son William E. Jarrell, III of Chicago, two grandchildren, Beth Ann Knicker and Zachary Wm. Jarrell, three great-grandchildren Joshua Knicker, Kenneth Knicker, and Owen Jarrell, one sister, Margaret Palmer of Largo, FL, one brother Kenneth W. Jarrell of Cabin Creek, and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by one brother Charles Jarrell.

A funeral service will be conducted at the Thomas Funeral Home on Wednesday afternoon at 1 o’clock by Rev. Dale L. Vroman. Burial will follow in the Maryland Veterans cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday during the hour before the service. Memorials may be made to the Endowment Fund of Zion Church, 612 Locust St., Cambridge MD 21613.

Pallbearers will be James “Nick” Hurley, Jay Jarrell, Zachary Jarrell, Josh Knicker, Bruce Nossick, and Eddie Nossick.

Haddaway, George W.

George W. Haddaway, of Mt Holly, passed away at his home on Sunday December 10, 2000. He was 74. He was born at Lakesville on March 19, 1926 the son of the late George Bernice and Flossie Wheatley Haddaway.

He had graduated from Crapo High School in 1943. Mr. Haddaway had served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. in WW II. He had served in the South Pacific on Johnson Island. On September 25, 1947 he married the former Norma Jean Mueller. He has owned and operated Haddaway’s Shell Station in Cambridge since 1951. He was a member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ, Past President of the Church Council; Cambridge Lodge No. 66 A.F. & A.M.; Cambridge York Rite Bodies, Hayward Royal Arch Chapter # 29, Zabud Council # 9 R & SM, Cambridge Commandery # 14 Knights Templar, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite, Past Grand Tall of Chesapeake Forest # 115 Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Boumi Temple AAONMS of Baltimore, Eastern Shore Shrine Club, Minerva Chapter # 50 Order of the Eastern Star, Pitman Masonic Club, Life Member of Dorchester Post # 91 American Legion and Life Member Choptank Memorial Post # 7460 V.F.W. He had been in failing health for several months when he passed away at his home on Sunday evening.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Haddaway of Mt Holly, two daughters and sons in law: Sandra H. and Wallace E. Dodson of Cambridge, Susan H. and James M. Creighton of Cambridge, five grand children: Scott E. Dodson, and his wife Amy Dodson, John R. Dodson, Josh A. Dodson, Sarah J. Creighton and Jake T. Creighton all of Cambridge. Mr. Haddaway is also survived by one sister: Genevieve H. Morris of Lakesville and two nephews, V. Keith Morris of Cambridge and Roger H. Morris of Church Creek and one niece, Sharon G. Conn of Baltimore. He was preceded in death by a sister, Bernice H. Grabus and a brother, James L. Haddaway.

A Funeral service will be held on Thursday afternoon at 2:00 PM at the Immanuel United Church of Christ on Peachblossom Avenue in Cambridge with the Rev. Joan P. Evans officiating. Interment will follow at East New Market cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge where members of Cambridge Lodge No. 66 will conduct a Memorial Service at 8:00 PM. Memorial Contributions may be made to either the Immanuel United Church of Christ, 900 Peachblossom Avenue, Cambridge, MD 21613 or to the Coastal Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802.

Pallbearers will be Scott E. Dodson, John R. Dodson, Josh A. Dodson, Jake T. Creighton, Vernon L. Morris, V. Keith Morris, Roger H. Morris and James Foxwell.

Dolby, Arthur J.

Arthur J. Dolby of Preston died at his home in Preston on Saturday, August 24, 2002. He was 90 years old.

He was born December 11, 1911 near Hurlock the son of the late John and Lucy Cannon Dolby.

He was a veteran of the U S Army during World War II serving with Company C MP Detachment of the 6th Armored Division.

He was a grain farmer working his whole life on his farm near Preston. He was a member of Easton Moose Lodge # 1520 and Easton American Legion.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years Dorothy Towers Dolby whom he married on August 15, 1941, Denen Stevenson whom he raised, and three brothers, Charles Dolby of Federalsburg, Lee Dolby of Denton and Raymond Dolby of New Jersey, three sisters, Doris Lomax of Cordova, MD, Florence Darling of Preston and Gladys Hartzell of Bridgeville, Delaware and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for him will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at Framptom-Hawkins-Eskow Funeral Home, P.A. in Federalsburg with Rev. Glen Staehli, officiating. Interment will follow in Junior Order cemetery in Federalsburg. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m..

The family has suggested that donations be made in his memory to Easton Dialysis 402 Marvel Court Easton, Maryland 21601

Alexander, Alta A.

Alta A. Alexander, 78, wife of the late Robert K. Alexander, passed away on Friday morning, November 17th, 2000 at I.H.S. of Delaware in Smyrna. Mrs. Alexander has made her home at the Smyrna facility since May of 1997.

She was born in Denton, Md. on July 12, 1922, the daughter of the late Thomas Wesley and Nellie Twilley Bradley. She was raised in Denton and a graduate of Denton High School. She was married to Mr. Alexander on November 19 1943 and made her home in Florida, Baltimore and Cambridge. In 1956 she moved to New Castle, Delaware where she was employed at the Dela-ware State Hospital as a cook until retiring in 1987.

She is survived by three daughters, Diane Walker of Bear, Del., Bobbie Kaye of Wyoming, Del. and Karen Di Mattia of Townsend, Del., one son Gregory A. Alexander of New Castle County, Del., 13 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one sister Virginia Lane of Denton, and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are three brothers, Rev. Calvin Bradley, Gilbert Bradley, and Page Bradley.

A funeral service will be conducted at the Thomas Funeral Home on Tuesday afternoon at 1 O’clock by Rev. Douglas M. Ridley, pastor of Grace United Methodist Church. Burial will take place in East New Market cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday during the hour before the service.

Tyre, Marian J

Marian White Tyre

Willards -- Marian White Tyre, 69, of Willards died on Saturday, August 3, 2002 at her home. Born in Pittsville on March 19, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Leamon White and Artha Alice Davis White. Her husband, B. Franklin Tyre died in 1989, and an infant son, Theodore Wayne Tyre died in December 1952.

Marian was employed at Manhattan and Gant Shirt factories for many years and at Linens of the Week in Salisbury. She loved gardening and giving her vegetables to family and friends.

She is survived by a daughter; Lisa A. Prevette of Willards, a brother; Roland White of Pittsville, two sisters; Lillian Lowe, and Kathleen West, both of Gumboro, two grandchildren; Casey Lynn Prevette and Ashley Danielle Prevette, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers; Franklin White, Olin White, and Norman White, and three sisters; Gladys Godfrey, Ruth Jones, and Mattie Hancock.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 12:00 Noon at Friendship cemetery in Pittsville. The Rev. Paul H. Sherwood will officiate. A visitation will be held from 10:30-11:30 A.M. at Bounds Funeral Home on E. Main St. in Salisbury. Memorial contributions may be made to Friendship United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, C/O Edna Lewis, 6269 Friendship Rd., Pittsville, MD 21850 or Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802.

Jeanette S. Weber

Salisbury, MD -- Jeanette S. Weber, 82, of Salisbury and formerly of Bridgeton, NJ died on Saturday, August 3, 2002, at the home of her daughter. Born in Bridgeton on September 20, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Richard D. Sheppard, Sr. and Mary Cook Sheppard. Her husband, Paul R. Weber, died in 1987.

Mrs. Weber attended Peirce Business School in Philadelphia. She was employed as a secretary for many years with Equitable Life Assurance Society of the United States, retiring in 1980. She was an active volunteer for the Lummis Library of the Cumberland County Historical Society in Greenwich, and was an avid bridge player.

She is survived by a daughter; Victoria Weber Greene of Salisbury, a grandson, Benjamin B. Greene of Ocean City, MD, a granddaughter, Julie Elizabeth Greene of Hagerstown, MD, and several nieces and nephews.

A private graveside funeral service will be held on Tuesday in Fernwood Memorial Park in Bridgeton, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bridgeton Public Library, 150 E. Commerce St., Bridgeton, NJ, 08302, 856-451-2620, or Coastal Hospice. P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802.

Arrangements are being handled by the staff of Bounds Funeral Home on E. Main St. in Salisbury.

Genevieve Marie Kraft Meloling

Salisbury -- Genevieve Marie Kraft Meloling, 85, of Salisbury and formerly of Syracuse, NY, died at the John B. Parsons Home in Salisbury. The FATHER called her home on August 3, 2002.

Born December 12, 1916, to Frederick and Sophia Kraft of Park Street in Syracuse. She worked many years at ED GUTH HOBBY SHOP on Salina Street in Syracuse and beside her husband as owners of the FRIENDLY CORNER grocery store chain, AGWAY in Dewitt and finally retiring from MONY in downtown Syracuse. She did extensive volunteer service at St. Joseph’s Hospital, the Syracuse Civic Center, and the Lyncourt Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years Lawrence J. Meloling Sr. She was born and lived most of her life on the north side of Syracuse, living on Delmar Place in Lyncourt for over 45 years. She moved to Salisbury, MD in 1995, to be near her daughter, Kaaren.

Married to Lawrence Meloling in 1940, she raised four children Kaaren Kundell of Salisbury, MD; Linda Kundell of Watkinsville, GA; Jessica Kopp of Oxford, Oh; and Lawrence (Buz) Meloling Jr. of Rowlett, TX. Her four children, ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren will miss her. A brother Frederick Kraft of Syracuse, a sister Mildred Carroll of Central Square, and numerous nieces and nephews also survive her.

Services will be at St. Daniel’s church in Lyncourt. Burial will be next to her husband in Liverpool cemetery. Time and date to be announced. Arrangements are being handled by the staff of Bounds Funeral Home in Salisbury.

Wilkinson, June M.

June M. Wilkinson, 68, of Hebron, died Tuesday, July 9, 2002 at her home. Born in Allen, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Walton and Ethel Mills White.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Oswald Lee Wilkinson of Hebron; five children and their spouses: Debra and James Baker of Sharptown, Cynthia and Brian Evans of Hebron, Craig and Sheri Wilkinson of Delmar, Barry and Janice Wilkinson of Delmar, and Ozzie Jay and Carol Wilkinson of Hebron; grandchildren: Kevin and Tara Owens, David Baker, Ginny and Lee Evans, Kerry and Craig Wilkinson, Megan and Hannah Wilkinson and Andrew and Abigail Wilkinson; one great-grandchild: Seth Owens; two brothers: Noah White of Germantown, MD and Mike White of Salisbury; two sisters: Faye Townsend of Salisbury and Janet Wilkins of Parsonsburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Wilkinson was a faithful member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Hebron, where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years and an avid prayer warrior. She was a devoted wife and mother who loved her children and the Lord.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, July 13, 2002 at 11 AM. at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Friday evening from 7 to 8:30 PM at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury and one hour prior to the service at the church. Pastor William B. Cropper will officiate. Interment will be in Hebron cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by Holloway Funeral Home, 501 Snow Hill Rd., Salisbury, MD 21804.

Jennifer Cervantes

Of Rising Sun, MD, died July 1, 2009. Services, 11 am, Thursday, July 9, at West Nottingham Presbyterian Church, Colora, MD.

Roy F. Boltz, Jr.

Age 85, of West Grove, PA, formerly of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 3, 2009, after living with Alzheimer's for many years. He was surrounded by his loving wife of 57 years, Marion Parker Boltz, and all his children and grandchildren.

Born in Gibbstown, NJ, Roy was the son of Roy Frederick, Sr., and Jennie Stanley Boltz. Roy served as a marine in World War II and after serving, earned a degree in chemical engineering from Washington State University where he was an active member of the Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity Chi Deuteron chapter. Roy then joined the DuPont company, retiring in 1985 as the Manager of Technical Sales and Logistics in the Elastomers Division. Roy was life- long outdoorsman who enjoyed fly fishing, hunting, beach combing and camping. He enjoyed traveling and in his retirement he and Marion visited many countries.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Randy husband of Joanne Boltz of Lancaster, PA; 3 daughters, Nancy Boltz Bridegam of New Castle, DE, Diane Boltz of Medford, MA and Laurie Boltz Blomer wife of Tom of Unionville, PA; 5 grandchildren, Megan Boltz, Kelly Boltz, Nicolas White, Brian White and Sarah Kovall; and a sister, Sarah Jane wife of Gene Erwin of Montrose, CO. He was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Francis.

Viewing, 9 am, Thursday, July 9, with services following at 10 am, at Richard A. Sheetz Funeral Home, 2024 Marietta Ave. in Lancaster, PA. Burial will be at 1:30 pm, in Eglington cemetery, 320 Kings Highway in Clarksboro, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association of America (https://www.alzfdn.org/).

Minnie Brownstein (nee Hoberman)

Age 100, of Wilmington, DE, died July 3, 2009.

Wife of the late Jack. Mother of Florence (Albert) Shapiro and Susan (Steven) Goodhart. Also survived by 4 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Sunday, July 5, 2:30 pm, at Shalom Memorial Park (Pine & Byberry Roads, Philadelphia) The family will return to the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Steven Goodhart. The family will observe shiva Sunday, Monday and Tuesday and respectfully request that contributions in her memory be made to: United Cerebral Palsy via their web-site www.ucp.org
