Saxon Virginia Cavanaugh

Saxon Virginia Cavanaugh Green, 89, of Martinsburg, passed away, Friday, February 24, 2006 at City Hospital, Martinsburg.

Born, March 31, 1916 in Fort Frederick, Big Pool, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Homer Judge and Nora Virginia (Weaver) Cavanaugh. Mrs. Green was a graduate of Williamsport High School. She was a member of First Christian Church, Hagerstown. She had worked for Victor Products, Fairchild Industries and retired as a medical secretary with several area doctors in Hagerstown. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, James Edward Green; two daughters, Linda Green Wasilius and Sally Green Anderson, both of Martinsburg; three granddaughters, Julie Lynne Wasilius, Laura Wasilius McCann and Haley Alexandra Wasilius, all of Martinsburg.

Funeral services will be conducted at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel,
Hagerstown on Monday, February 27, 2006 at 11:00 A.M.
with the Rev. Fred M. Harris officiating.
Interment will follow in Rest Haven cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday
one hour prior to services from 10-11 A.M.

Linnie Roy Vann

Linnie Roy Vann, 72, of Hagerstown, passed away, Saturday, February 25, 2006 at his residence.

Born, August 22, 1933 in Edinburg, Virginia he was the son of the late Leo and Hannah (Markley) Vann.
Mr. Vann was Lutheran by faith. He retired in 1995 with 39 years of service as a clerk typist with the Conrail Railroad, Hagerstown. He was a US Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Arlene (Racey) Vann; three sons, Linnie R. Vann, Jr. of Westover, MD, Roger Vann of Williamsport and Todd Vann of Hagerstown; one sister, Catherine Keller of Strasburg, VA; one brother, Gaynor Vann of Winchester; seven grandchildren, Bambi Jackson, Hannah Vann, Karlie Vann, Eric Vann, Jacob Vann, Linnie R. Vann, III and Skyler Vann; two great grandchildren, Kiana Jackson and Kaden Jackson. In addition to his parents he also was preceded in death by one sister, Ormae McDonald and two brothers, Curtis Vann and Lee Vann.

Funeral services will be conducted at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel,
Hagerstown on Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at 1:00 P.M.
with the Rev. Mark C. Mooney officiating.
Interment will follow in Rest Haven cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home one hour prior to services.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made
to a charity of one's choice.

Guy Edgar Monn

Guy Edgar Monn, 74, of Sabillasville, died, Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at his residence.

Born on March 5, 1931 in Tomstown, PA, he was the son of the late, Albert R. and Catherine R. (Moats) Monn. Mr. Monn was a member of the Blue Rock United Brethren in Christ Church, Tomstown. He retired from the US Army as a Sgt. First Class having served in the Korean and Viet Nam Wars. He was a member of the A.A.R.P., The Retired Enlisted Association, The Non Commissioned Officers Association of the U.S.A., and the AmVets. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Diana E. (Hadley) Monn; three daughters, Diana Jean Hurley of Tomstown, Deborah Ellen Mickley of Mont Alto, PA, and Brenda Karen Monn of Sabillasville; three sons, Eugene Robert Monn of Waymart, PA, Clarence Richard Monn of Laymansville, WV and Guy E. Monn,
Jr. of Sabillasville; one brother, Larry E. Monn of Fayetteville, PA; seven grandchildren, two step grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy L. Forney and Mary Jane Hadley jones and by four brothers, Melvin L. Monn, Bernard O. Monn,
Albert R. Monn, Jr. and Robert D. Monn.

Funeral services will be conducted at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel,
Hagerstown, on Friday, March 3, 2006 at 11:00 A.M.
with the Rev. Donald L. Bender officiating.
Interment will follow in Rest Haven cemetery where full military honors
will be accorded by the Maryland State Honor guard.
Friends will be received at the funeral home one hour prior to services.

Charlotte Elizabeth Grove

Charlotte Elizabeth Grove, 92, of Hagerstown, passed away on Tuesday, February 28th, 2006 at Washington County Hospital.

She was born on July 12, 1913, in Hagerstown and was the daughter of the late William Alt and Bertha Nora (Nichols) Grove. She was a lifetime member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Hagerstown. She retired as a Floor Supervisor with the Hagerstown Shoe Company after 56 years. Miss Grove enjoyed Bingo, Find-a-word puzzles and music of the 1920's & 30's. She also enjoyed dancing and crocheting when younger. She is survived by a brother William Grove of Hagerstown, seven nieces Mildred Swartz of Baltimore, Sherry Arias of Hagerstown, Vickie Sasse of Hagerstown, Rebecca Savage of Raleigh, NC., Angela Athas of San Jose, CA., Joan Friedland of Manchester, MD., Cathy Smith of Baltimore, and three nephews Anthony Arias of San Jose, CA., Jimmy Swartz of Columbia, MD, and Danny Swartz of Churchville, MD.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 3, at 1:00 PM
in Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave. Hagerstown,
with the Rev. Scott P. Bellows of St. John's Episcopal Church officiating.
Burial will follow in Rest Haven cemetery.
The family will receive friends one half hour prior to
services at the Funeral Home.

Charles David Rook

Charles David Rook, 70 of Rouzerville, died, Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at his residence.

Born, April 5, 1935 in Waynesboro, PA, he was the son of the late, Robert and Beulah (Woodring) Rook.
Mr. Rook retired as a owner-operator truck driver. He was a US Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War.
He was a member of the Blue Ridge Sportsmans Association. He is survived by his wife Gladys Seal; one daughter, Debra Seal-Shaw of Hagerstown; two sisters, Dorthea Jean Sweet of Lexington, VA and Donna Rook of Waynesboro; two brothers, Robert Rook of York, PA and William Rook of Waynesboro; four grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by a step-son, Alvin Seal;
one sister, Shirley Wade and one brother, Ronald Rook.

Funeral services will be conducted at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel,
Hagerstown, on Thursday, March 2, 2006 at 1:00 P.M.
with Pastor Shawn Bushman officiating.
Burial will follow in Rest Haven cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home one hour prior to services.

Lenora Louise Rawling Allen

Lenora Louise (Rawlings) Allen, 80, of Falling Waters, WV. died Wednesday, March 1st, 2006 at Health Center Of Plant City Florida.

Mrs. Allen was born in Cumberland, Maryland on June 24, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Herman E. and Mary Virginia (Maphis) Rawlings. As the wife of a retired Assemblies Of God pastor; she was a member of several churches. She was a 1943 graduate of Old Town High School. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, the Rev. Edward C. Allen; one daughter, Cheryl Sachs of Falling Waters, WV; one son Edward C. Allen of Alexandria, VA; one sister, Erma Redden of Osseo, MN; one grandaughter,
two step grandsons, one step grandaughter and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Glenn Rawlings.

Funeral Services will be conducted, at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, Hagerstown,
on Monday, March 6, 2006 at 11:00 A.M.
with Pastors Robert Revell, Dan Wilson and Wesley Johnson officiating.
Burial will follow at Rest Haven cemetery.
Friends will be received on Sunday from 6-8 P.M. and
one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Betty Jane Corder

Betty Jane Corder, 80, of Hagerstown, died, Thursday, March 2, 2006 at Julia Manor Health Care Center, Hagerstown.

Born on March 1, 1926 in Hagerstown she was the daughter of the late, Joseph F. and Beulah May Bussard.
Mrs. Corder was employed as a machine operator for the Hagerstown Laundry. She is survived by three children, Ronnie Corder, Lonnie Corder and Linda Powell, all of Hagerstown; one grandson, two step granddaughters and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy C. Corder, five sisters, Mildred Griffin, Louise Abbott, Madeline Hardy, Nellie Young and Genevieve Jones, two brothers, Frank Bussard and Leroy Bussard and by one grandson, Charlie Powell.

Graveside services will be conducted at Rose Hill cemetery, Hagerstown, on
Monday, March 6, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. with the Rev. J. Norman Mayer officiating.
Interment will follow.
Friends will be received at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, Hagerstown
on Sunday from 6-8 P.M.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to
the Hospice of Washington County,

Edna Catherine Harbaugh Grove

Edna Catherine Harbaugh Grove, 96, of Hagerstown, passed away Friday, March 3, 2006 at Coffman Nursing Home.

She was born on Oct. 23, 1909, in Hagerstown, and was the daughter of the late Clarence Fleet and Maude Elizabeth Trovinger Harbaugh. Mrs. Grove was the owner of West End Feed & Supply with her late husband,
Lester W. Grove, for 33 years, until his death in 1969. During Christmas she collected toys at the store and played Mrs. Santa Claus with her good friend, Haven Hoffman. She was a lifetime member of Christ's Reformed Church in Hagerstown and served as a deacon. She was very active in church and the Sunday school. She was a member and officer of Wacohu Grange and was presented with "This Is Your Life" from fellow members. Mrs. Grove enjoyed acting in plays at the Grange and helping with big events. Edna will be remembered by neighbors for her pies, doughnuts, apple dumplings and slippery pot pies. She didn't require much attention for herself; she was always available for whatever came her way. Known as "Groveie" she will be missed by all who loved her and all whose lives she touched. She is survived by a son William D. "Bob" Grove, daughters Mary E. Manford and Virginia J. Grimm, all of Hagerstown; and a half sister Hilda McGonigal of Interlachen, Fla. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 38 great-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Frances C. Hammond; one sister and 11 brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 6, 2006
at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel in Hagerstown
with the Rev. Don R. Stevenson officiating.
Burial will follow in Rest Haven cemetery Hagerstown.
Friends will be received on Monday, one hour prior
to services at the funeral home.

Gary Delano Burcker

Gary Delano Burcker, 44, of Williamsport, died, Monday, March 6, 2006 at his residence.

Born on March 4, 1962 in Hagerstown he was the son of Franklin D.R. and Nancy Lee (Fritz) Burcker of Smithsburg. He was employed as a glass cutter at Packaging Service Inc. of Williamsport. He was a 1981 graduate of Smithsburg High School. In addition to his parents he is survived by his wife, Sherry M. (Gladhill) Burcker; one daughter, Samantha E. Burcker of Williamsport; two sisters, Jeannette "Jeannie" Thompson of Hagerstown and Dana Burcker of Smithsburg.; maternal grandmother, Jeannette Fritz of Smithsburg and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, Hagerstown
on Friday, March 10, 2006 at 11:00 A.M.
with the Rev. Stephen E. Wagoner officiating.
Interment will follow in Rest Haven cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 7-9 P.M.
