THELMA VIRGINIA ROHRER, 67, of 11403 Stonecroft Court, Hagerstown, Maryland, died on Sunday, October 16, 2005 at the Julia Manor Nursing Home.
Born October 30, 1937 in Keedysville, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Martin L. and Delores Thelma Clipp Butts.
She retired from the Washington County Hospital.
She is survived by two sons, George J. Reichert, III of Smithsburg, Maryland, and Martin D. Reichert of Hagerstown; two daughters, Sheree D. Hall of Sharpsburg, Maryland, and Sandra D. Reichert of Hagerstown; two sisters, Jackie Spickler of Hagerstown, and Martine Earley of Boonsboro, Maryland; one brother, Terry Butts of Hagerstown; eight grandchildren, Angie M. Whittington, Natasha D. Williams, Matthew L. Reichart, and Lacey N. Reichert, all of Hagerstown, Jamie L. Reichert of Rockville, Maryland, Jesse E. Hall, Jr. of Sharpsburg, Maryland, George J. Reichart, IV, and Jared E. Reichert, both of Smithsburg, Maryland; and four great-grandchildren, Dustin A. Violet, Kaylie M. Whittington, Skylar J. Whittington, and Tyler M. Houck, all of Hagerstown.
She was preceded in death by one brother, John Benner.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a. m. Wednesday at the MINNICH FUNERAL HOME, 415 East Wilson Boulevard. Rev. Loyal H. Vanderveer will officiate. Burial will be in Boonsboro cemetery in Boonsboro, Maryland.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p. m.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1037 Haven Road, Hagerstown, Maryland 21740, or Hospice of Washington County, Western Maryland Hospital, 1500 Pennsylvania Avenue, Third Floor, Hagerstown, Maryland 21742.

Margie Ellen Hixon

MARGIE ELLEN HIXON, 97, formerly of 201 Devonshire Road, Hagerstown, Maryland, died on Sunday, October 16, 2005 at the Williamsport Nursing Home in Williamsport, Maryland.
Born March 13, 1908 in Washington County, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Irvin and Julia McGowan Thomas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Hixon in 1964.
She was a member of the Washington Square United Methodist Church, the Golden Rule Sunday School Class, the Ruth Circle, and the Methodist Women.
She is survived by two grandsons, Wesley Balthus of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, and Larry Wayne Balthus of Hagerstown.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sylvia P. Balthus in 1999.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a. m. Thursday at the MINNICH FUNERAL HOME, 415 East Wilson Boulevard. Rev. Owen Womack will officiate.
Burial will be in Rest Haven cemetery.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p. m.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

Ruth Elizabeth Kelly

RUTH ELIZABETH KELLY, 86, of 207 Pangborn Boulevard, Hagerstown, Maryland, died on Sunday, October 16, 2005 at the Washington County Hospital.
Born April 14, 1919 in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Willis and Molly V. Moats Lehman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lewis Kelly in 1994.
She was formerly employed from 1998 to 2000 with the Maryland Employment Service on North Potomac Street.
She was a former member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.
She was a member of the Washington County Homemaker’s Association, and the A.A.R.P.
She is survived by two sons, Michael Kelly of Chantilly, Virginia, and Timothy Kelly of Hagerstown; and three granddaughters.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p. m. Thursday at the MINNICH FUNERAL HOME, 415 East Wilson Boulevard. Rev. Quentin J. Fleming will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven cemetery.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p. m.

Karen Marie Pearson

KAREN MARIE PEARSON, 49, of 11712 Patrick Road, Hagerstown, Maryland, died on Friday, October 21, 2005 at her home.
Born July 5, 1956 in Washington, D. C., she was the daughter of Delbert Brooks and the late Martha Brooks.
She was employed with Home and School Connection.
She was a member of the Hagerstown Church of Christ.
She was a member of the Sonlight Home School Association.
In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband of twenty-five years, Michael R. Pearson, two sons, Kenneth E. Pearson, at home, and Michael A. Pearson of Baltimore, Maryland; and one brother, Steven Brooks.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the MINNICH FUNERAL HOME, 415 East Wilson Boulevard. Mr. Richard McGough will officiate.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Alice Evangeline Newton

ALICE EVANGELINE NEWTON, 96, of Hagerstown and Halfway, Maryland died onThursday, April 14 at Ravenwood Nursing Care Center. Born August 28, 1908 in Reedy, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Rev. James Brown Rupert and the late Edith L. Miller Rupert. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. J. Willard Newton, on August 31, 1980; they married August 28, 1933 in Corinth, West Virginia.
She retired from Harper and Row Publishers and was previously employed by
Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh as a registered nurse. She was a member of the Washington Square United Methodist Church, a member of the Administrative Board, the United Methodist Women, the Church Women United of Washington County, MD and taught Sunday school for twenty-five years. The library at the church was named in her honor. She was a member of the West Virginia Society and the Board of Friends of Reeder’s Memorial Home Auxiliary.
She is survived by one daughter, Eleanor E. Westfall of Harmony, WV; two sons, John W. Newton and wife Jean of Vienna, WV and Richard B. Newton and wife Nancy of Kingstowne, VA.; four grandsons, James R. of San Diego, CA., Jeffrey W. of Parkersburg, WV, J. Randall of Minneapolis, MN and Jeremy J. of Cleveland, OH; three granddaughters, Jennifer L. Dynda of LaPalma, CA., Joyanna S. Jobes of Parkersburg, WV and Kristin L. Newton of Arlington, MA; two step grandsons, Randy L. Westfall of Spencer, WV and Timothy K. Westfall of Huntington, WV.; two step granddaughters, Cynthia D. Westfall of Spencer, WV and Lori D. Jackson of Hartselle, AL; eight great grandchildren; ten step great grandchildren; seven step great great grandchildren; and eleven nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, Elizabeth Rebecca Rupert Fassnacht, two brothers, Harter Miller Rupert Sr. and James Brown Rupert, Jr and a nephew.
Funeral services will be held Friday, 11:00am at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. Hagerstown, MD with Rev. Owen Womack and Rev. Louis L. Emerick officiating. Burial to be at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown. The family will receive friends Thursday, 7:00-9:00pm at the funeral home.
The family requests the omission of flowers and memorial donations may be made to the Washington Square United Methodist Church, 538 Washington Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21740 or to Hospice of Washington, Inc, 1500 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21740.

MARY KATHLEEN (KAY) BUSBY, 78, of 19941 Leitersburg Pike, Hagerstown, Maryland, died on Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Towson, Maryland.
She was a very classy lady who was loved very much, and will be sadly missed by her surviving family.
Born November 11, 1926 in Cumberland, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Lola Elizabeth Lewis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Clell Busby on August 17, 1981.
She was of the Methodist faith.
She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Queen Esther Chapter 3, and a member of the Air Force Sergeant’s Auxiliary.
She is survived by two daughters, Donna J. Barber, and Kathy L. Piotrowski, both of Hagerstown; one sister, JoAnn Wilson of Hagerstown; four granddaughters, Debora Flores, Tina Watts, Tracy Ramos, and Kassin Piotrowski, and one grandson, Ted Piotrowski; five great-granddaughters, three great-grandsons; one niece, Michelle Sager;
and two great-nieces.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Garland Lewis, and Leo Wilson.
Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p. m. Saturday at the MINNICH FUNERAL HOME, 415 East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown, Maryland. Rev. C. Michael Henning will officiate.
There will be no viewing.
There will be a Graveside Service at 2:00 p. m. Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at Arlington National cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1037 Haven Road, Hagerstown, Maryland 21742.

ANNICE LEORA STELZER, 84, of 250 Nottingham Road, Hagerstown, Maryland, died on Sunday, April 24, 2005 at the Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown.
Born July 14, 1920 in Hagerstown, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Russell F. and Clara A. Mowen Powell.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Stelzer on July 24, 1995.
She was employed at Fort Lewis in Washington State, retiring in 1977.
She was a charter Commander of D. A. V. Auxiliary, Harmony 18, State of Washington and Commander of Tacoma #1; the Amvets Post 10 Auxiliary; and the A. A. R. P.
She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hagerstown.
She is survived by nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, several great-great-nephews; cousins; and an aunt. She left behind some very good friends in Washington state.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Agnes M. Sweeney, and Oda Harbaugh; and one brother, Max Powell.
Memorial services to be held at a later date.
There will be no viewing.
Family requests omission of flowers, and memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
