Miss Frances Bowens

Miss Frances "Stump" Bowens, 61, of Frederick, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, November 15, 2007 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the beloved daughter of Frances B. Allen and the late James Hicks, both of Frederick.

Frances was born on September 8, 1946, in Frederick. She attended Frederick County schools and spent her adolescent years as a homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, watching western and horror movies and talking on the telephone.

Surviving in addition to her mother is her loving daughter, Carolyn Hebron and devoted husband, Arthur, of Germantown. She also leaves behind one brother, Charles Bowens Sr., of Ft. Meade and a brother-in-law, Charles (Sonny) Lee, of Frederick. She leaves to cherish two devoted grandchildren, Tyeicka Bowens and long-time companion, DeAndre Pryor, and BJ Morrison and wife, Lakisha. Five great-grandchildren, Rodneisha, DeAndre, Gionni, Keylen, and Isaiah. One niece, Kanissia and two nephews, Charles Jr. (wife Lovette) and Bryan. Frances is also survived by a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends that she loved very much.

Devoted family members are Roxanne Dorsey, Doris Bowens, Charles Diggs, Helen Naylor, Peggy Diggs, Thomas (Pops) Naylor, Charles (Butch) Bowens, William (Sundown) Harris, and Sterling (Wiggy) Harris.

Devoted friends are Dyane Prather, Ms. Phil Sewell, Mrs. Sophia Butler, Mrs. Grace Bowie, Fontaine (Fattie) Jackson, and Carolyn Weedon.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Charles and Edna Bowens and Jesse and Nora Harris, stepfather, Robert (Bunky) Allen, brother, Ronnie Bowens, sister, Marie (Boota) Lee, grandson, Terrance Bowens and sister-in-law, Sandra Bowens.

Public viewing will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20 at Gary L. Rollins Funeral Home, 110 W. South St., the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 21 from the above chapel. Rev. Rex Bowens officiating. Interment Hopehill UMC cemetery.

Mr. David Drollinger

David F. Drollinger, 66, 1414 Mount Carmel Road, Orrtanna, Pa., died Saturday, November 17, 2007 at the Gettysburg Hospital.

Mr. Drollinger was born April 24, 1941 in Danville, Ill., the son of the late George W. and Bessie E. Hanson Drollinger. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Michal Johnson Drollinger.

Mr. Drollinger was employed for MacDonald-Douglas Corp. in Torrance, Calif. for 27 years and later for Walker Engineering in Sun Valley, Calif., until his retirement in 2004. After 40 years in Southern California, Mr. Drollinger retired to the hills of Orrtanna, Pa., where he enjoyed his beloved family and working with his favorite John Deere Tractor. After his family, his passion was car racing, from being a driver in his early years to truck driver for Tyler Walker's All-star Sprint Team to being an avid spectator of Sprint Cars and NASCAR racing.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Drollinger is survived by five children, Dana M. Hendric and her husband, Michael of Fresno, Calif., Duane E. Drollinger of Orrtanna, Pa., Bryan K. Drollinger and his wife, Annelyn, of Torrance, Calif. Cindy D. D'Aquino and her husband, Tommy, of Frederick, Pamela D. Day and her husband, Bryan, of Frederick; ten grandchildren; a brother, Jim Drollinger of Missoula, Mont.; a sister, Patricia S. Paden of Dallas, Texas. He was predeceased by a son, Jeffrey A. Drollinger and a brother, Robert "Bob" Drollinger.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20 from Monahan Funeral Home, 27 E. Main St., Fairfield, Pa., with Rev. Mike Watson officiating.

Mr. Harry Witmer

Harry William Witmer, age 91, formerly of Williamsport, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007, at his daughter's home in Harpers Ferry, W.Va.

Born July 14, 1916 in Smithsburg, Harry was a son of the late Baughman Cleveland and Effie May Longenecker Witmer.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carrie Turner Witmer, Dec. 19, 1956, and his second wife, Catherine V. Witmer, June 5, 1984. He is survived by his special lady friend, Millie Sellers of Hagerstown.

Harry had been employed for over 37 years with Greencastle Products.

He was a member of Moose International, International Order of Redmen, North American Rod and Gun Club and Catoctin Fish and Game Protective Assn.

Harry is survived by one daughter, Virginia W. Kaetzel and husband, Robert, with whom he lived; one son, Victor Tom Witmer and wife, Alice, of Sharpsburg; two step-children, Calvin Turner and Glenda Lockham, both of Hagerstown; one sister, Evelyn Karmilovich of Indian Springs; three grandchildren, Carrie K. Jennings, Robert W. Kaetzel and Crystal Witmer; five great-grandchildren, Victoria L. Jennings, Kristin R. Jennings, Sara L. Jennings, Amanda L. Jennings and Hannah E. Kaetzel; and one step-grandchild, Timothy Loveless.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, Woodrow W. Witmer, Alvey J. Witmer, Howard D. Witmer, Silas H. Witmer and Paul C. Witmer.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Brownsville Church of the Brethren. The Rev. Alan Smith will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Bast Funeral Home in Boonsboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 122 Waverly Ct., Martinsburg, WV 25401, or Brownsville Church of the Brethren, 1911 Rohrersville Rd., Brownsville, MD 21715.

Mr. Timothy Geppert

Timothy F. Geppert, 68, of Middletown, died on Thursday, November 15, 2007 at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nev.

He was born on November 24, 1938 in Clearfield, a son of the late William J. and Mary Patricia (Schrot) Geppert.

Mr. Geppert was a real estate broker for over 30 years. He previously was employed as a Washington D.C. Metropolitan Police Officer and also worked as part of the Executive Protective Service at the White House.

He was a 1957 graduate of St. Francis High School, Clearfield and a graduate of American University in Washington, D.C.

In addition, he was a lifetime member of Clearfield Fire Co. #1.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann (Carlson) Geppert, whom he wed May 9, 1959 in Clearfield; three children, Kimberly Waterworth and husband, Robert, of Clarksville, Marcia Geppert-Bunk and husband, Thomas, of Frederick, and Gary D. Geppert and wife, Julia, of Jefferson; six grandchildren, Natalie Waterworth, Jacob Waterworth, Jessie MacKay Bunk, Eric Bunk, Nicholas Geppert and Marykate Geppert; seven brothers and two sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Alan Geppert, a brother and his step-mother.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Friday with Rev. Rodger J. Gorton officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillcrest cemetery, Clearfield.

Friends will be received from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Frederick County Public Library, Middletown Branch, in care of C. Burr Artz Main Library, 110 E. Patrick St., Frederick, MD 21701.

Ms. Ann Andrews

(Marjorie) Ann Carney Andrews, age 85, died Friday, November 16, 2007. She was the wife of John S. Andrews, a former Ohio Republican State Chairman, who preceded her in death in 2001. They were married July 4, 1964 in Toledo, Ohio. She was also preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Sally Carney, her sister Mary Carney, and her brother Leo Carney. She is survived by her daughter Sally Andrews Moore, son-in-law Pat Moore, and grandchildren, John and Samantha Moore, all of Issaquah, Wash.

She was born December 15, 1921 in Castalia, Ohio, and graduated from Margaretta High School in Castalia in 1939. She was secretary to two Ohio Congressmen, A. David Baumhart and Charles A. Mosher, and traveling secretary for Henry Cabot Lodge in the 1960 Presidential campaign. She was a member of the Potomac Women's Republican Club, a dedicated volunteer for the Republican National Committee, and was active in campaigns for Jean Roesser in Maryland. She had resided at Buckingham's Choice in Adamstown, and at Park Shore in Seattle, Wash.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Castalia Congregational United Church of Christ, 205 Depot Street, Castalia, Ohio, 44824. A time of visitation will be held 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, November 23 at Coyle Funeral Home in Toledo, Ohio. A graveside service will follow at Toledo Memorial Park. Friends are invited to share memories and sign the family's online guest book at www.flintofts.com. Arrangements are entrusted to Flintoft's Funeral Home and Coyle Funeral Home.

Mr. Spencer Ramsburg

Mr. Spencer Lewis "Ben" Ramsburg, 93, of Walkersville, died Saturday, November 17, 2007 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital.

Born in Walkersville on January 2, 1914, he was the son of the late Grayson and Cora (Stull) Ramsburg. A farmer for the majority of his life, Ben joined the US Army during WW II. When he returned home, he continued to farm and later in his life work for the Frederick County School System in maintenance.

Survivors include his sister, Charlotte "Kit" Young of Walkersville; a sister-in-law, Viola Ramsburg of Frederick and several nieces and nephews. Ben was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 21, in the Stauffer Funeral Home, 40 Fulton Avenue, Walkersville, with Rev. Gerald C. Hanberry officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Glade cemetery.

Memorials contributions may be offered to: Walkersville Volunteer Rescue Company, P.O. Box 202, Walkersville, MD 21793.

Mrs. Blanche Dukehart

Mrs. Blanche C. (Kammer) Dukehart, 92, of 112 N. Oller Ave., Waynesboro, Pa., died at 11:30 p.m., Sunday, November 18, 2007 in her home.

Born December 3, 1914 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Christian J. and Anna Mae (Severe) Kammer. She lived her early life in Baltimore moving to Waynesboro in 1935 following her marriage.

She attended Baltimore Schools.

She and her husband of over 67 years, the late James W. Dukehart, were married March 5, 1935. They moved to their present residence in 1984. Mr. Dukehart died September 22, 2002.

Mrs. Dukehart was a homemaker, but worked four years in her early life for Maryland Casualty Insurance Company in Baltimore during the infant stage of computers.

She was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, Waynesboro Hospital Auxiliary, B.P.O.E. Lodge #721 Ladies' Auxiliary, Fellowship of Churches, Waynesboro Historical Society and Toll Gate Garden Club, all of Waynesboro. She also served on the Board of Directors for Lunch Place and Community Concert, also of Waynesboro. She was a member of National AARP.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Louise Greco, Emmittsburg, Jean Marie Amato, Elizabeth, N.J.; two sons, James R. Dukehart, Waynesboro, Joseph K. Dukehart, Blue Ridge Summit; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Laura Lucas, Carlisle, Pa., Pauline Bailey, Atlanta, Ga.; three brothers, Jack Kammer, of West Virginia, Richard Kammer, of Joppatown, Edward Kammer, of Delaware; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia Ann Amato; two sisters, Helen M. Mullin, Ruth Bosson; one brother, Earl O. Kammer; and a son-in-law, William Greco.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 24, in St. Andrew Catholic Church, 12 N. Broad St, Waynesboro with the Rev. Dennis G. Dalessandro as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Andrew cemetery, Waynesboro, Pa.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. A Rosary Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew School, 213 E. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268.

Mrs. Connie Loeb

Mrs. Connie Loeb (Kaplowitz), 55, of Frederick, died on Saturday, Nov. 17. She was the wife of Ronnie Loeb.

Born on May 12, 1952, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of Richard L. and Dolores Marie Carter Herridge, of Hyattstown.

She worked at Geico Insurance in Lead Information Services Dept. and was training to be a DBA. She was a member of Amtgard, Kingdom of Crystalgrove and the WeComeToPlay.com gaming community. She enjoyed spending time sewing and doing crafts.

Surviving in addition to her husband and parents are two sons William and Matthew Kaplowitz of Frederick. One brother Richard Herridge of Hyattstown. Lifelong friend Mary Ellen Brust, of Frederick.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 23, at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 24. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the charity of choice.

Mrs. Helen Chandler

Mrs. Helen Rudy Chandler, 96, of Middletown, recently residing at Homewood at Crumland Farm, died on November 20, 2007, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

Born on March 16, 1911, in Middletown, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Edith Biser Rudy.

Mrs. Chandler graduated from Middletown High School in 1927 and Towson Normal School in 1929 earning a degree in education and beginning her lifelong commitment to and interest in education. She received a bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland in 1941.

Mrs. Chandler began her teaching career at the one-room Hopewell School near Union Bridge in 1930. She moved to the Middletown Elementary School in the fall of 1930, and remained at the school until 1948, serving as its principal from 1943 to 1948. Mrs. Chandler moved to Frederick in 1948 and taught English and history to 8th grade students at the Elm Street Junior High School from 1948 to 1957. She transferred to the newly constructed West Frederick Junior High School in 1957 and remained there until her retirement from the classroom in 1965, after 36 years.

Mrs. Chandler was a lifetime member of the Christ Reformed Church in Middletown. She was also a member of the Frederick County Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, a professional honor society for women educators and the Retired Teachers of Frederick County. She also belonged to the Citizens Auxiliary and was a charter member of the Middletown Historical Society.

Mrs. Chandler enjoyed keeping up with the hundreds of students she taught during her long career in the classroom. A trip to the mall or a visit to a local restaurant was almost always marked by meeting a former student and catching up with what happened since she saw them last.

She developed an abiding interest in history that lead her to learn about and appreciate American and English antiques. She was particularly interested in furniture and other antiques made in Frederick County, and loved to attend antique shows and sales to try to spot a special piece. She shared her interest in antiques and genealogy with her family, introducing them to the hobby and sharing the wealth of knowledge and information she had acquired.

Mrs. Chandler also enjoyed playing bridge, and participated in numerous bridge clubs, including one that extended for 50 years.

She is survived by a nephew and his wife, John and Judy Rudy of Beaver Creek; a niece and her husband, Faye and Ronald Moss, of Middletown; her niece, Deborah Rudy of College Park; a great-nephew, Rudy Moss, of London, England, and two great-nieces, Abby Moss of San Diego, Calif., and Michelle Taylor of Greencastle, Pa.; and a great-great-nephew, Jacob Bell and a great-great-niece, Rachel Bell. She was predeceased by her husband, Marvin J. Chandler, and siblings Lenora R. Morgan, Arthur "Jake" Rudy, and Cyrus "Mike" Rudy.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Sat. Nov. 24 from the Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St. Middletown. Rev. Mark A. Wakefield, her pastor will officiate. Interment will be made in Christ Reformed Church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday one hour prior to funeral services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Middletown Historical Society or the Christ Reformed Church.

Mrs. Mary Louise Fales

Mary Louise Fales, 70, of Bourbon Trail Fairfield, Pa., and formerly of Smithsburg, died Wednesday November 21, 2007 at her home.

Born July 11, 1937 in Syracuse, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Lawrence Arthur and Dorothy Elizabeth (Tollerton) DeLong.

She was a member of the Waynesboro, Pa., Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband Russell F. Fales, daughter, Cynthia J. Shultz, sons, Anthony W. Fales and David C. Fales, sister, Anne Simon, eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Bruce A. DeLong and Ronald L. Delong.

There will be no viewing.

Services will be announced at a later date and time.

Arrangements were made by the J.L. Davis Funeral home in Smithsburg.
